Reception 'unauthorized product key' (errno 45090) a legitimate copy of Windows XP purchased in 2001

I have a copy of Windows XP Pro (Upg) RTM, originally purchased at the retail price (CompUSA or Best Buy, Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2001), and I still have the original blue folder with the orange product key sticker.  This past weekend I slipstreamed SP3 inside and tried to reinstall it, but it refuses to activate citing a 'unauthorized key' (?)  Times online and phone activation are useless.  Attempts to install later on various media XP (slipstreamed SP2 and an original XP SP1 disc) also failed.

This copy of Windows is not installed on another computer.  MGADiag reports as follows:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.   I've already posted this in the MGA forums, but here we were talking.

-Scott

I was able to get hold of Technical Support and after providing the old key, the installation ID and the numbers of room on the front & the back of the original disk, I was delivered a new key.  Apparently the original key was blocked for 'used too many times' (?) -It's a 10 - year-old key, I had a certain systems at the moment, and I tend to do a lot of relocation (but ALWAYS in the terms of the license).

Therefore, the situation is resolved, but I'm dreading the day where I have to go through this again with another Microsoft product.

    OK Hi
I recently had a virus on my computer and I had to reinstall xp on the dell cd gave me when I bought my computer a long time ago. in any case
After that I reinstalled windows XP Home Edition, I remembered on my old computer I had also installed service pack 2 on windows professional (on a cd that I got from Microsoft) I've decided to install this right after. However I have if I don't have the product key while I was going to call microsoft
and ask them because on the box it has the barcode and the model # I guess, but after stumbling on yahoo answers, I discovered a way if you have the actual disk, you can open a file from the cd and get the activation code, so I've done this and installed it. But now it seems
that windows asks me to authenticate the OS. So I tried to use the same code with no luck (he said the unauthorized product key) and it gives me 30 days to get the product key.

Now I don't know what to do because on the box, there is a certificate of Authenticity on the box and I know it's true because I got it on my computer before I reinstalled windows. So could you guys tell me what I need to do I don't want to pay for another operating system, after I know I paid for this one.

PS - is it possible to downgrade windows without losing data because I know that you can upgrade, but you can downgrade.

    Help, please

There is no code embedded in a CD of Windows XP product activation.  In order to activate an installation of Windows XP Professional, you will need a product key 25-digit Windows XP Professional genuine typing.  You have the product key?

You must order a set of recovery disc for the computer from the manufacturer - this will install the appropriate drivers for your system automatically, as well as packaged applications.

If you have not formatted the disk (or replaced) existing partition recovery may still be present - see your manual for details.

It is possible to download Vista - see here for more details - http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/57-windows-vista-direct-download-links -, but note that it is not a simple process!

I have a mac with bootcamp.  He is not powerful enough to run Windows 7 and vista is a Devourer of resources. Is there a place to buy a legitimate copy of Windows XP with a valid CD key?

    Two points:

    1. the resources required for Vista and Windows 7 are very similar. I wouldn't say one or the other a "resource eater."

2 Windows is sold is over (unless you can find a store that still has old stock). Essentially the only way to buy these days is to find a copy used on sale somewhere. But if you buy a used copy, be very careful to ensure that it is not hacked and avoid places like eBay.

Yes you can. To learn more:

If your computer is pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium, you should have a recovery if partition:

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

    ------------------------

If the recovery partition is damaged or does not, you can then use the downloaded Home Premium as an alternative.

Anticipating a quick answer on the same

    Thanking you,

    Yogesh clavreul,

    +

    Hi yogesh,

This problem could be due to the fact that the product key provided does not match the press which is used to install Windows. The product key that is provided can be a file without assistance, in a. EI. CFG file, in the PID.txt file or in the BIOS firmware. Windows OEM 8 machines ship with the product key in the firmware, and if this product key does not match the press, then you will see the above error message.

You are able to start after receiving the error message on the screen?

I suggest you to change the product key to the correct for the media you are trying to install. If the system has a product key in the motherboard (o. a. 3.0 [Activation OEM] provides an OEM product key in the firmware), you use an Unattend file, file (EI.cfg) edition Configuration or the product ID file (PID.txt).

    You can check the link:

«Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012 installation may fail with the error message: the product key entered does not match any of the images available for installation Windows.» "Enter a different product key"

Thank you for the recommendation of belarc, it is a good program.  However, when the entry microsoft told me I have an invalid product keep... I would like to refute that by saying the only way I could have MSE's I have a legitimate copy of xp.  Any other suggestions?  I'm about to switch to linux...

This key seems to have been plastered all over the internet (I don't check before)- and seems to be a key of SP3 installation by default, which means that it can never be activated.
You have to find the key that came with your package.

MSE will be installed on a system not activated Fortunately - it checks Validation, no activation.
Any machine that is in the grace period will be validated (by design).

  • How to find the product key on a pre-installed version of Windows 8?

    Hello

I bought a W530 with preinstalled Windows 7 and I have improved the system of Windows 8 using the discs. Now, I discovered that I do not have Windows 8, and I would go back on Windows 7. But I can not find the product key of windows 7 on the bottom of the laptop, and there is no Windows 7 recovery disk either.

    any suggesion would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Michael

On recent ThinkPads, the sticker of the product ID key has been moved to the lower part of the unit behind the battery.

You should contact Lenovo support directly to ask about a recovery media.

Your friends drive is most likely a "Retail" XP version which has its own product key. In most cases, you can reinstall XP using 'Reticular' media and then activate with your OEM. Is that what you did?
