Recommendation for disaster recovery on the spot for a single server ESX from VMware vSphere 4?

I'm exploring setting up a new Dell server running ESX 4 vSphere VWware and wonder what is a good solution to allow a recovery solution disaster on-site in the event of complete failure of the server?  At the very least, I think that I would need a server similar to the site, but not sure if vCenter or what solution would allow the ability to quickly recover virtual machines, I had running on this single server?

Thank you

Only for simple cases of storage shared. Veeam does not free ESXi support, but you can actually buy vSphere Essentials (3 guests more a vCenter) for a total of $ 500.

  • Difference between disaster recovery (replace the user's machine) and material migration Assistant.

    Hi all

    I worked at different scenarios for customers supported the migration of material.

    I found "Disaster recovery (replace the user's machine)" will perform the same action as the 'migration Hardware' option Assistant in common.

    Please let me know if the two are same with operations or any difference is there?

    Essentially, they do the same for the different use cases. The only difference is the default option selected for the computer name in the wizard. Migration of HW, it is 'Set Name'. In the Assistant of Dr., is "to keep the name of CVD.

  • Which supplier Source control would you recommend for a single developer on a labVIEW project moderately important

    I have not used a front Source control provider.  My hope is that I don't have to deal with a large learning curve in using the basic features of a source control provider.

    Also curious is the most popular provider used by LabVIEW developers.

    Thank you.

    If you are getting started with Subversion (Tortoise SVN is the 'client' to a Subversion server), you have the choice between three options:

    1. Use a server Subversion maintained by your company or your University.  (I, fortunately, put at my disposal one).
    2. Use a commercial Subversion server.
    3. 'Rolling' (which means that the other host a server yourself, on your PC or on another PC, or simply use a 'local' repository).

    I listed them in the following order (according to me) that it is "desirable".  I, myself, would be enough worked to avoid Option 3, because it puts all the "eggs in one basket', in other words, you must assume the responsibility of not only keep your code Committed/updated the repository, but you must keep secure, backed up repository, and 'remote' (if your house burns down and the external unit containing the repository also goes up in flames you lost everything).

    I recently started a collaboration with a colleague in the Canada.  Because of institutional policies, I couldn't access our server local to Subversion, but found that assembled (www.assembla.com) offered a Subversion server access at a reasonable cost.

    Once you have identified a server, get your created repository and your project saved in the repository is not too difficult.  A practice I found works well is to organize the filing of LabVIEW, one project per repository projects, with the name of deposit is the name of the project.  I have adopted the model of trunk/branches/tags subfolder for the repository (i.e. the filing "Of Bob Project" will have a trunk, a branches and a subfolder of tags), with most of the activity taking place in the trunk.  I try to use the branches almost never, but that's another story.

    There are a number of tools to put "hooks" in Subversion in LabVIEW.  My personal preference is to do all my work of Subversion at the level of the Explorer of Windows files, validation and updating of entire projects to the end and beginning of work sessions (commit to the end, updated at the beginning).

  • Partition problem after the recovery of the system with a single key 6.0

    I need your help!

    My Lenova Ideapad Y430 not more start and I had to restore the system with the recovery CD I burned with a recovery key 6.0. The restore process showed no defects and no error has occurred.

    Now, after restaring the system I only 0 with a C: partition (all program files, vista, drivers etc.) 104 GB and the 'part of recovery for a key' 14.75 working. D: partition where all my documents, pictures etc. are stored are listed, but idle and not accessible nor editable with the tool Vista Diskmanagement.

    No idea what I can do?

    You can download EASEUS partition manager. It will help you to reformat the D drive.

  • vCenter Server 5.1, SSO and Service of the inventory on a single server?

    It is said in articles vmware all 3 roles can be installed for small deployments on a server with enough hardware requirements (2 hearts and 10 GB of RAM and hard drive 100 GB recommended).

    Question is what is considered to be low?

    Can I install all 3 roles on a server for lets say 14 guests and about 200 virtual machines?

    If I have 3 vCenter servers I'd better install all 3 roles on each of the 3 servers. or have a SSO or SSO HA for all vCenter servers?

    The problem is that we want to separate the vCenter by area.

    A big thank you!

    Yes, you can install all 3 roles on onse Server. We installed it on a virtual machine with 8 GB of RAM, 100 GB HD and 4 CPU.

    For the decision on wheter to install all 3 roles on 3 vCenter servers, I recommend you to read the next page.

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalID=2032135

    If I should make the decision, I separate completely all 3 areas and thus install 3 with 3 roles vCenter servers. But this does not mean you have to do the same thing.

  • Problem with different ASM disaster recovery start - new

    Hello together,

    I had an old net here about it but now will not solve the problem with the points in the old thread. Here's the old: https://community.oracle.com/thread/3608049?start=0 & tstart = 0

    I'm doing a disaster recovery with the 'apex11A' on a new server database, which has an another ASM starts. The old man starts is '+ DGA112_1' and '+ FRA112_1', newcomers are called '+ DATA_QUM169' and '+ FRA_QUM169 '. I changed the settings in the spfile restored by writing in a pfile file and creating the spfile from pfile.

    I tried in several ways. First lay the new ASM with RMAN to the course:

    run
    {
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATABASE TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    restore database until LOGSEQ 24286;
    switch datafile all;
    switch tempfile all;
    recover database until LOGSEQ 24286;
    }

    Then I tried it in RMAN by defining the new ASM for each data file:

    run
    {
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 1 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 2 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 3 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 4 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 5 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 6 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 7 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 8 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 9 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 10 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 11 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 12 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 13 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 14 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 15 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 16 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 17 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 18 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 19 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 20 TO '+DATA_QUM169';

    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 22 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 23 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 24 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 25 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 26 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 27 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 28 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    restore database until LOGSEQ 24286;
    switch datafile all;
    switch tempfile all;
    recover database until LOGSEQ 24286;
    }

    Then I tried the bot in one:

    run
    {
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATABASE TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 1 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 2 TO '+DATA_QUM169';

    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 18 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 19 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 20 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 21 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 22 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 23 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 24 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 25 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 26 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 27 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 28 TO '+DATA_QUM169';
    restore database until LOGSEQ 24286;

    But my new database will not set the new ASM and I have no why.

    The db_create_file_dest parameter is set correctly, so I think that:

    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    ------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
    db_create_file_dest                  string      +DATA_QUM169

    I forgot something? Would be nice to get help ...

    A big thank you and best regards,

    David

    Your data checkpoint SCN file are in the LOW and HIGH range of the SNA for SEQUENCE 24286.

    Therefore, your UNTIL clause should be 24287 SEQUENCE up to THAT.

  • CUCM and IM & P 10.5.2 disaster recovery

    Come see if I any who can sanity check it.

    I noticed the other day on my IM & P servers that my last successful backup was 132 days ago. Now on my CUCM I do daily backups during the week, UCM, CDR_CAR, and IMP_AND_PRESENCE backup and I can see all 3 are saved OK to my remote destination.

    For me, this sounds like my Pservers & IM are saved through the master agent of the CUCM disaster recovery if the backup of the annex on IM & P servers themselves.

    It would also sound to me that I should be able to retrieve my IM & P servers, through backups made by CUCM.

    I can't seem to find a straight answer in the Disaster recovery Guide is.

    anyone can shed some light on this?  Very appreciated

    Dennis, your understanding is quite correct in this regard. IM & P needs to connect to the master DRF on the CUCM pub for the mechanism of the DRS only it doesn't have its own master DRF starting version 10.x when added as a subscriber to the cluster of CM.

    Infact, there was a known below defects for a problem in which IM & P will not appear while you take the backup of the Publisher CUCM DRS:

  • Impact of the Hub of gateway on server cluster cache performance

    Hello

    We observe a performance problem when we implement gateway Hub for the async-write object delayed on the cluster of cache servers.

    The test which takes about 7-8 seconds with established central gateway in place, takes 600-700 milliseconds after removing the hub of the cluster.

    Here is the description of our test environment.

    GemFire cluster composed of two cache servers, running on the VMS distinct and is managed by a localization process. Hub gateway is implemented to send events to the asynchronous MySQL database.

    GemFire customers, initialized in a web application, connect to the same cluster by using the Locator.

    These clients, two in number, are configured to run at the same time and put data in the same region. These customers operate continuously for 10 minutes and call several threads that put data/change data in the region at the same time.

    What we are seeing, it's when the Hub is implemented in the cluster, one of the cache server in cluster is not functioning effectively and permanently record a warning like ' DistributedCacheOperation$ CacheOperationReplyProcessor: waiting for 1 < another server cache > responses whose list of members is...' and

    'Wait response completed'. This particular server is one that have secondary hub. This cache server CPU utilization is 5-10%, while the use of other cache server goes from 80 to 90%.

    After removing the Hub of cluster, both servers to cache in equal parts work and both use about 80-90% of CPU.

    Please suggest if there is something wrong in the implementation.

    If this is the general behavior of the Hub of the bridge then there no alternative for backing up the data in the database without affecting performance?

    Note: schedules above represent the results of web applications of Jmeter load tests. Each user of the application connects to the server cache cluster and puts data in the region. Here are the average time taken by a user when 500 concurrent users are using the application.

    Thank you

    Mahesh

    Hello Manu,

    I have done some tests and I think that what you see is a 'normal' behavior - at least it's explainable.

    When you create a pool, GemFire will establish a first set of connections (connections min). When your application performs an operation, it will capture a connection, make the op and then releases the connection to the pool. The conections are maintained as a battery and connections are made and returned to the top of the stack.

    Without a gateway, each server load is equal - doing a put (or putAll) requires the same amount of treatment regardless of what server you touch. Thus, the connections are used at a constant speed of the pool which unifies the load.

    However, with a door from the outset, the server load (what to do to treat a put) becomes disproportionate. In fact, the secondary server still has work to do that no matter what puts also result in a message sent to the main access door to treat this event. So, put everything on a secondary antibody, will be increasingly long. On the client, it also means that secondary connections are in use longer, which means that there will be more connections, available in the pool, to the main server (because it is able to process puts connections faster and so return to the pool more quickly). Any operation which the customer must do is more likely to have a connection to the primary, and therefore the disproportionate burden that you see.

    One thing you should is implemented to be thread-local-connections = true in the definition of your pool. That should help the connections, but I'm not sure that this will be a solution long term for you.

    Another thing you might also consider using GemFire 7.0 which has a mechanism of much better writeback. By using it, you should definitely be able to get a distribution of the even load that you are able to configure the parallel lines within each server.

  • What is the recommended for El Capitan recovery process?

    What is the recommended for El Capitan recovery process?

    I just upgraded directly from Mountain Lion, and I see that my recovery disc has disappeared.  My recovery disk wizard is only good for Lion and Mountain Lion.  I searched Apple.com and found a complicated process by which I could use the Console and create a bootdisk with the option reinstall, but I can't believe that this is the recommended option for a common user?

    So is time machine bygones?  I noticed that it is dimmed in the Menu bar?

    Certainly, you can restore El Capitan as you would with any other version of OS X - using the HD Recovery. I have no idea why your Recovery HD disappeared. Usually this would cause by user error. However, you can create a standalone install OS X on a USB FlashDrive for emergency use. This has been an option because at least Mavericks:

    Do your own installation of El Capitan using the El Capitan tool flash drive:

    You can create an installer of flash of El Capitan via the Terminal drive. El Capitan has its own manufacturer Installer integrated that you use via the Terminal:

    You'll need a freshly partitioned and formatted at least 8GBs. USB flash drive leave the name of the flash drive on the system by default, "Untitled." Do not change this name. Wait as the full process that will take some time.

    Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Copy and paste the following line in its entirety in the Terminal window.

    sudo/Applications/Install\ OS\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia--volume/Volumes/Untitled--applicationpath X\ "/ Applications/install OS X El Capitan.app.

    Press RETURN, enter the admin password (will not resonate to the window) then press RETURN again.

    You must have setup in your Applications folder or change the paths in the command line above.

    You can do the same thing for Yosemite by making the appropriate substitute for the installer in the above command line:

    Make your own Yosemite flash Installer drive using the tool of Yosemite:

    You can create an installer of the Yosemite via the Terminal flash drive. Yosemite has its own manufacturer Installer integrated that you use via the Terminal:

    You'll need a freshly partitioned and formatted at least 8GBs. USB flash drive leave the name of the flash drive on the system by default, "Untitled." Do not change this name. Wait as the full process that will take some time.

    Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Copy and paste the following line in its entirety in the Terminal window.

    sudo/Applications/Install\ OS\ Yosemite.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia--volume/Volumes/Untitled--applicationpath/Applications/Install\ OS\ Yosemite.app X\ X\

    Press RETURN, enter the admin password (will not resonate to the window) then press RETURN again.

    You must have setup in your Applications folder or change the paths in the command line above.

    In addition, to Yosemite and earlier you can try using DiskMaker X.

    IPad disabled with thousands of pictures of children that are not backed up with iTunes or icloud. Recommendations for the recovery of photos please?

    Sorry, but if your device is disabled and you have no backup, then you won't be able to save the data on the device:

    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT204306

    You should back up your device regularly to iCloud or import your photos to an application on your computer. Otherwise, you will be risking losing those photos. If your device has been lost, stolen, or crushed by your car, you'd be in the same situation. Really sorry for your photos.

  • Need recommendation for installation recovery site

    Hi all

    1. What are the basic things that we must analyze it before we recommend the company to go to oracle Dataguard for DR configuration?

    2. do you know any technology that will replicate the schema of a data center [data one] to another data center [secondary database or replication]?

    3. What are the different option to configure the disaster recovery plan at the schema level?

    Thank you

    Hello again;

    I use Oracle Streams, but it is certainly an option:

    http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/database/information-management/streams-FOV-11g-134280.PDF

    It also has its own forum (you probably know that)

    Water courses

    Oracle Streams comes with more than 7000 data dictionary views, and DBMS built-ins so my main concern is the complexity and moving parts. Flow also includes guard data items, for example to capture downstream. If I had to choose between streams
    and Data Guard, I'd go with Data Guard, as his most popular (view) and thus better supported.

    The last time I checked GoldenGate needed a license. If you need money. I also believe that the options for the host operating systems are less than the other two options.

    My understanding is that you have to learn a new language with a boatload of new keywords. That said, Yes, it could be an option. It has a forum here somewhere. But I don't use it either.

    In any case, it looks like you ask all the right questions. Good luck with your project.

    Best regards

  • Procedures and guidelines for Disaster Recovery (DR)

    Hi all

    Our TI auditor asked me to submit/provide procedures for guidelines for disaster recovery.

    I tried Google, but the process docs seem so vast and complex.

    We have a dataguard configuration. Can I give him to the contrary the docs on how to recover/restore using Data Guard?

    Can you share me link to good documentation on the recovery?

    Thank you

    Petra k.

    > We have a dataguard configuration

    Generally, the documentation is created with the Setup program. Documentation describing the configuration.  Documentation detailing the procedures for different situations.  Documentation that lists the commands to use and the expected responses for commands. Documentation that indicates the error handling methods if you try the commands.

    Your dataguard configuration is incomplete without these documents.

  • Can we create a Vlan without SRM for disaster recovery testing

    We are working on plans for our recovery after disaster in our VMWare environment.  We have a recovery Site which has a NETAPP file server we reproduce our VM data warehouse and SQL data.   We have no RS, but must be able to test if possible disaster recovery with Production upwards.   Is it possible to configure a VLAN and do a test isolated Dr. without SRM?   Thank you

    Welcome to the VMware communities forum.

    You can create a VLAN without SRM.  You will need to properly set up your network hardware, and then you add new virtual machine port groups to your ESXi hosts.  You can then save the virtual machines by giving them a different name and starts in isolation.  When you attempt to save the virtual machines they will always have a reference for the port VM production group so you'll want to make sure you update you turn on.
