Reconfigure the VM - CPU, memory, disk, etc.

Any stubs of autonomous WF available for the reconfiguration of the VM, please let me know.

Trying to develop an Interface that will call a workflow with reconfigureSpec and the virtual machine must update the virtual hardware.

Thank you in advance.

The workflow integrated into vCAC (5.2) of reconfiguration of the VM is not directly callable as a VM regular/WFStub Stadium. In addition, this workflow automatically starts a restart, which is not always desired (or when you use options such as HotAdd). You write that you create an interface to call a workflow. In this case, it would be wise to create a vCO or PowerShell / PowerCLI workflow that you use to reconfigure the computer (which is pretty easy). As in the vCAC that automatically would be a way sure to what after new hardware parameters data collection would be visible in vCAC anyway updated virtual machine configurations.

Best regards, Ronald

    Windows 8 64-bit: windows8_64Guest

    Windows Server 2012: windows8Server64Guest

Standard does not allow for the custom user interface, dashboard is out. You need to think about writing a report customized, which is considered "experimental". However, I don't know if that we would have the opportunity to build a Top - N report using reporting custom constraints. The best you could possibly do is to give a list of all virtual machines classified by use

  • How to monitor the CPU, memory and i/o on the system

    Hello..

    Some body help me?...

    1. how to manage the monitoring of the performance of the system and the database during execution of ODI?
    2. how to monitor the CPU, memory and i/o on the system?

    TQ
    balleur

In an attempt to partially answer your questions:

    1. how to manage the monitoring of the performance of the system and the database during execution of ODI?

Monitor the performance of the application from a commercial point of view. As transactions per minute, or response time or time elapsed for the key events of the company. Monitor the activity of the material such that the CPU usage is not necessarily linked to the performance of your application. Performance should be measured from top to bottom - business first, then the lower levels until you get finally to computer equipment. Only if you get a problem to the next level - response time is too large, for example - you can go through the lower levels to identify the cause and fix it.

    2. how to monitor the CPU, memory and i/o on the system?

I personally use "sar" on UNIX-BASED or Linux, or rather "CFDCs" which is the system activity data collector. SADC will measure and collect data on activities on CPU, memory, disks, etc. and save them to a file in binary format. You can then extract these measures later for analysis using SAR (sar f sadc_file_name). The benefits of SADC are that it is light (these operating systems measure such things anyway, just CFDC records far), it records everything at once (with the exception of the network), it records the time stamp too for each measure, and you can analyze it later when you want to.

There are commercial products out there too who do similar work, with additional features, such as the integration of Oracle and the relationship between several systems. TeamQuest is an example, but there are others also. (I do not work for TeamQuest, but I used their product in the past).

  • How is collected JVM parameters (CPU, memory, etc...)

I read a lot of documents, and I'm still a little confused about how it works. How are the CPU, memory, etc. of the measurements taken on the JAVA virtual machine. Is there on the thresholds of the box set up and if so where can I find it. I don't know if I'm wrong or not, but on a system Linux, OS-Linux_System agent collect this data?

JVM parameters are collected by the Java or JMX agents using JMX, both agents use this JVM mechanism to collect processor memory and thread information. Monitoring of the OS is usually collected by agents of the BONE (os-linux_system is inherited, Infrastructure Officer is the new mechanisms). The threasholds are set out of the box like registry variables (you can see their names included in the rules).

  • How can I get the Guest VM CPU, Ram, disk of VMware Tools?

    Hey guys,.

I have a question for the information of the guest OS,

I can use the SDK to get information such as the disk i/o of vCenter,

But I can't the CPU, Ram, disk use on the comments operating system?

I know vmware tools can help, but I don't know how to use the web Service to obtain, please do me a favor!

    Thank you

To get the disk usage information in the guest operating system, you get "guest.disk" property of the managed object VirtualMachine. This will give you the total capacity and free space on each disk information.

    http://www.VMware.com/support/developer/VC-SDK/visdk41pubs/ApiReference/Vim.VM.GuestInfo.DISKINFO.html

For the processor and memory, you can extract the properties "summary.quickStats.overallCpuUsage" and "summary.quickStats.guestMemoryUsage" of the managed object VirtualMachine.

    http://www.VMware.com/support/developer/VC-SDK/visdk41pubs/ApiReference/Vim.VM.summary.QuickStats.html

    I hope this helps!

  • Disk Cleanup is not showing me the ability to clean the system error memory dump files

Hello. When I run the disk cleanup utility in Vista, it does not show the option of cleaning the system error memory dump files. It is a very serious problem. I had to delete files that I really wanted to keep, because I thought they were taking too much space. He did not make a particle of difference. I have only two GB on my C drive now. How to fix this problem?

    Kim

You must use the scroll bar on the right disk cleanup in the window that appears after checking for space to scroll to check the boxes before these items.

Deleting the less important system restore points allows you to earn useful free disk space.

A better program of disk cleanup is cCleaner. Delete System Restore points may be important if you have little free disk space. The ability to delete them is one of the tools options. You can selectively remove those created in less important moments.

cCleaner also comes with a registry tool. Do not use this tool as any registry cleaner could lead to the creation of very difficult to resolve system errors.

  • High CPU and disk utilization slows down the response

Two years, Pavilion dv7 - 2273ca running Windows 7 64-bit; Norton 360; IE8; Thunderbird; Microsoft Office 2007.  Tend to have several windows open at the same time.  For automatic updates

Almost every day the laptop enters a period of very high CPU usage; often accompanied by high disk usage.  The response time of the laptop is compromised to the point that I often have to stop using it until activity slows.  I try to use the resource monitor, but do not know enough to say if the legitimate operations or something wrong.  Norton frequently shows svchost.exe and iexplore.exe as a heavy user of the CPU.

Is this a normal behavior?  If not - any advice on how to identify the culprit?

On the advice of a HP technician, I ran check disk, and then restore the system in August.  end hard drive.  System Restore did not difference in performance.

Most of the processor have more of the base, there will be a CPU 0 and 1 for the dual core processors. Different colors are different carrots 0 and 1

If you sort as I proposed that the highest CPU usage will float to the top, you have to watch it when your cpu pork starts to act up.

The colors of disc are reading and writing, its hard disk is read or write data on the trays.

A high utilization of the processor or disk can be considered normal at times, but should not go on constantly.and by dragging down the performance of the system

Lets say you run a video in your browser, the CPU usage rises, running other programs can do the same thing.

The disk activity can be high at times also, depends on what you do on the PC, but shouldn't be high all the time.

  • CPU/memory of the ESXi host totally access & usage and temp CPU with PowerCLI.

    Dear all,

I am struggling with the CPU/memory reading of the host completely & information about the use of PowerCLI and the temperature of the CPU is also very useful for me. I used "Get-VMHost-name" to get VMHost to object, but cannot get its properties such as CpuTotalMhz, CpuUsageMhz, MemoryTotalMB, MemoryUsageMB.

And also do not know which object has temporary information of the CPU. Thank you!

You probably have a fairly old PowerCLI version (4.0).

We'll see if the upgrade solves a number of these problems.

  • Need a clarification on the where the share of cpu/memory really matter

Get these values to 'share' relative cpu/memory used by the layer host physical, right? and no layer of Resource Pool?

In other words, each physical host is running, say, 20 virtual machines and of those 20 there are various actions assigned to virtual machines (some is 'High' of other 'Normal' and other 'Low') due to the fact that these 20 are divided into different Pools of resources and we have committed 'High', 'Normal' and 'Weak' to different Pools of resources.  What are reservations guaranteed with a particular resource Pool, if VM1 on VMHOST1 is 'High' actions and VM2 on this same VMHOST1 is 'Weak' actions then VM2 will spend more time in "CPU Ready" than VM1 land, right?  While the actions of cpu/memory can get configured at the level of the Resource Pool, it seems to me they are really IMPORTANT to the physical host level (they relate VMs on ESX host specific, NOT the Pool of resources that they are a part of).

(my examples assume that all other things being equal, for example, that all VMs example are 1vCPU VMs)

Why this matter for me, in case you care, is because I have a provision described here and using the examples that I used in this thread, I think to increase shares of the resource 'FinanceProduction' to 'High' list and the list of resources of the 'FinanceTest' to 'Normal' better ensures that VMS in those Resource Pools can actually make the cpu/memory reservations and limits that I have assigned to them.  We see essentially performance degrade as we grow, but they are not approaching their reservation of cpu/memory.

REF: How to better make sure if there is a loser in a race to claim that it will always be a "non-prod" VM?

This is apparently a common misconception about resource pools (which I fell too), that assign three pools with low, normal and high action would divide the resources available in accordance with these rules, but they do only if you have the same amount of VM in each resource pool, which tend to not be the case.

Duncan Epping has written some good blog posts on it and yesterday posted a PowerShell script that should effectively deal with actions in your resource pools according to their content: http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2010/02/24/custom-shares-on-a-resource-pools-scripted/ (links to his previous duties are on the text). It would be nice if Vmware could implement a way to achieve in vCenter without the use of scripts since for me it makes the most sense for the management of resources quick and easy.

  • Limitation of the Virtual Machine's CPU/memory resources.

    Hello

My question on the tab "resources" with VMachine settings (I hope I picked the right branch here)

In this tab I put a booking/Limit for CPU/memory for current VMachine.

I have a cluster about 6 ESX servers with resource by default and a VMachine inside pool. VMachine have 1 CPU. Each ESX have 2 plugs with 4 core per socket. Each base equal to 2, 83GHz. Def.

In this case, which by default configuration for an average CPU for this VMachine limitaion - 132582 MHz? Because in practice ESX server can give only 1 CPU for this VMachine and this CPU will have 2, 83GHz only...

Also, I put 100% of CPU - 132582 MHz booking here... But in true VMachine will never receive this resource...

Same question about limitation of memory...

When this limitation will work? For what porpose such booking/limitaion here?

Re: But, if I'm going to make a mistake and this CPU for VM value reserve, which is more physical limitation - it reduces resources processor for other VMs on a value that is more than the physical limitation of the virtual computer?

No, the reservation only guarantees that if a virtual machine wants to take a large part of the resource at a given time VMware should give him.  If there is ever going to be a situation where the virtual machine is in fact to consider that much so it never gets allocated to this virtual machine and the amount of the resource remains available for other virtual machines to use.  Similarly, if the virtual machine just does not use the amount of the booking to a point in time, he let this resource can be used by other virtual machines.

If a virtual computer uses only 1 GHz on a core 3 GHz system, at a given time but thereservation is 2.5 GHz, 1.5 GHz between its use and booking that is not used at this time is available for other VMS to use.  That is only if there is a period of contention between VM and VM CPU wishing to use mean 2.8 GHz it would be guaranteed to get 2.5 GHz independently of the parameters of the actions on the VM from other virtual machines.

It is essentially the same thing with memory except that the memory usage is not as CPU flunctuate and VMware must also use more complex methods to reallocate the memory, but the leaders of the way in which it is shared using actions, reservations and limit is the same.

  • I can't find the slot of memory for the Satellite S70-B-10V

How can I upgrade my memory to laptop? It is not a memory slot at the bottom of the laptop.

As already mentioned by Timox: there is no separate access to the memory locations.
The slot of memory and HARD disk access is hidden under the hood.
So to put level memory and other parts, the laptop must be disassembled and the bottom cover must be removed along with other pieces as ODD, battery, etc.

It is a bit tricky, but the most important fact is that the removal of the bottom cover could void the warranty, and I guess you don t want to lose the warranty.
Any hardware upgrade must be performed by the authorized service provider.
