• No tuner = no S-Video capture! (Qosmio F10-101)

  I just bought Qosmio F10-101, which comes without a TV tuner. I tried everything to save my VCR to the computer's S-video input, but this is not possible. I have already installed the registry patch and I tested several applications like WinDVD Creator video recording supplied with the machine, they do not all video input ports.

  The main reason why I bought this machine, it's that I thought that the S-video input could be used for recording the video on the hard drive. But it seems that this is not the case.

  So, I'm supposed to return the unit for another model? Or is there a workaround to record a S-video input to the hard drive? Please, remember that this isn't a TV tuner.

  Hi, I just bought my Qosmio F10-101 & I have two questions:

  1 - hard drive (60 GB) is a player, I need to divide it into 2 or more drives & keep back the preinstalled software (what are the exact steps?, I keep all the factory settings?).

  2. the models that include a television tuner weren't available when I bought my laptop, if I get the F10-101, is it possible to add a TV tuner? the performance will be ok or it will be affected because it is not built in from the beginning?

  You can use a program like partition magic that can partition the drive into multiple separate disks (for example C: D: etc..) It is installed in the windows operating system and he can do the job without losing existing data on your disk.

• Fan noise after changing graphics - Qosmio F10-101

  Two months ago, I had my graphics from nvidia fx 5700 for nvidia geforce go 6600.

  Just bought a new Qosmio F10-101 in Greece with Greek Windows XP, but I can't find Microsoft OneNote installed on my machine. On the European model site 'abandoned' the specs say clearly that OneNote is provided with this model.

  My copy of OneNote has come on a CD and I had to install it myself. He was not on the OEM Windows XP installation, and it is not included on the recovery CD.

  I recommend that you check the packaging for your Qosmio original see if there is a CD somewhere.

  I tried to upgrade my Qosmio F10-101 1.7 to 1.8 GHz CPU, but the whole system runs very slowly.

  On my f10 cosmio 101 caps lock green won't turn on all the time, whether it is on or off, so I never know is it turned on. Also when I press right shift windows media player turns, and when the left press the letters on my screen became smaller.

  AFAIK all keyboards works on the same principle. Lock shift turned permanently you can turn it off by using the SHIFT key. Press the SHIFT key and hold down the key. After that press Caps lock once, and it should be disabled. If there is a green light it shows whether or not shift caps lock is enabled.

  I tried to use the recovery CD (XP) for my fathers Qosmio F10. I chose option 1 to return to the factory default. It seems to work fine but after it's over he says remove the CD and reboot I did. It was then restarted but flashed a blue screen for a split second before restarting. I did not see what is the Blue error screen, as it flashes up too fast. • TV ATSC-NTSC with PVR tuner: how to record from VCR to my hard drive?

  I got a HP Pavilion desktop for 7 years m9300t still had never tried to use this card. Now I connected my audio R & L and S-video to my VCR to the card. • Noisy fan - fan starts 15 minutes after turning on the Qosmio F10

  My Qosmio F10 has always had a very noisy fan. The fan noise starts always 15 minutes after turning the PC on and stays of less regardless of what I do on the PC - even if this happens be nothing else!

  I tried to change the battary cooling method optimized in the toshiba saving settings in an attempt to stop the fan coming on but any change of setting seems to have no effect on the fan. I did a search on these forums and found a link to the utility fan - but the link now appears to be dead and someone somewhere else also suggested update but tv pilots who did not work or the other. Anyone have any ideas on how to make this laptop less noisy?

  It's all a bit frustrating saw I bought it to listen to music - and all you hear is the fan when the music calms down!

  Believe me that it is not unusual that the F10 is a laptop with a high GPU and CPU. These regions produce a lot of heat and it must be cooled!

  Please don t compare mobile portable fans with the Qosmio. The Qosmio laptop properties resemble a PC and in my view a desktop PC is much stronger than the F10

  Well, I think that you can solve this problem without upgrading the memory.
  Please follow these steps:

  1. find out how virtual memory is managed. Right click on 'My Computer' and choose 'properties '. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Performance click settings.
  2. which opens your performance Options. Click the Advanced tab. For private users 'typical' Processor Scheduling & Memory use must be set to "programs".
  3. under virtual memory, click change.
  4. which opens the virtual memory options. If you have more than one hard drive, make sure that your primary hard drive is selected under "Drive".
  5. under "Paging File Size for selected device" check the box indicating the size of the managed system.
  6. click OK in all the 3 boxes to close off these settings and restart your computer

  I'm trying to connect my analog VCR / my laptop to save some old tapes.

  Follow the instructions exactly as detailed in the user guide, but I can't get a picture. Used both Svideo composite without joy!

  I spent a futile a few hours by train to do it with my Satellite A30 until I have realized that the adapter SCART I was using was a single input device, so I wasn't getting any signal from the VCR to my laptop. I changed the adapter SCART to a version switchable and made sure that it passed to the "output" mode and it worked very well.

  I never managed to get a picture of S-video in color, black and white only. I gave up in the end and returned to composite connections that worked perfectly.
