• Problem getting connected to the laptop running Windows 7 Epson SX515W wireless

  Hello.  Please can someone help me?  I recently bought a laptop with Windows 7.  I couldn't get my old printer to work with her, so I bought a new wireless all-in-one (Epson SX515W) I tried to install the drivers from the CD, but when it gets to the part of the installation where you select the printer on the network, it comes up with the error message "NetSetUp has stopped working" and the installation hangs.  I tried to download the Windows 7 driver for the Epson site, but I still can't connect wireless to the printer.  I contacted Epson about 3 times now, and they can't help and told to believe that this is a problem with Windows.  Please can someone help. I'm not terribly technical interest.

  NetSetup is an application of Epson.  See if it will run in compatibility mode or even better to avoid to use the application.  See if Epson has a basic print driver for the device that does not include a setup.exe that would be ideal.  Then just search for the device on the network and add the printer using the disk and point to the inf files and the installation of printer driver.

  Their application may fail if the device is not on the same subnet as the computer, but I guess that Epson would have already determined the status of the device on the network when they helped you.

  Thanks for the reply.  You don't have to reinstall Windows again.

  Please follow the steps to reset the password below and check if it helps.

  1. start from the Windows installation disc. Wait for the Windows Setup screen.
  2. press the SHIFT + F10 together on the keyboard keys. This will open the command prompt window.
  3. in the command prompt, type regedit and press ENTER. This will open the registry editor
  4. Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key on the left.
  5. When you select, go to file -> load the hive
  6. in the Load Hive dialog box, select the following file: C:\Windows\System32\config\SYSTEM
  7. enter a name
  8. go to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ "Name given by you" \Setup
  9. double-click cmdline and value data to cmd.exe
  b. double-click SetupType and set the value data to 2.
  10. now select "Name given by you" on the left and go to file -> Unload
  11. close the registry editor and all open windows. Your computer will be restarted.
  12. remove the bootable media and and wait. It will take you to the command prompt.
  13. type net user in cpmmand promt. It lists the user all accounts that exist on your PC.
  14. to set a new password for your Windows account, type the following command:

  NET user 'account name' new_password
  For user net e.g. Robert Pa$ $w0rd
  15. close the command prompt.

  You can enter the new new password set by you and connect.

  By the way; new laptops computers Toshiba are not delivered with recover disks.
  You must create one using the Toshiba recovery disc creator, or you can use the Toshiba HDD recovery!
