  I was referring to the preferred option in Captivate to create backup files.  Have you had this market?

  

  Working on a LAN on any project file Captivate is not recommended because a glitch in the network traffic for a backup action can damage your project file.  Maybe it's actually what happened in your case.

  When you say "only saving the file on my hard drive" do you mean that you have saved the project file on your hard drive before you open it whenever you work on it?  If so, it is strongly recommended.

  Look to see if you have a backup of your file version (look in the same location as the project file and see if you have another file it is about the same size with the same name but the backup on the end).

  Is there is no backup file and then you can restore the project using the cache of Captivate files.

  In Premiere Pro, if you delete a file at the OS level, you will see Offline media, but the issue real clip will remain in your order - offline, of course.   Assuming you have AutoSave enabled, you must have at least a few versions of your project that you could come back, hopefully before deletion. Look in the folder specified for your project AutoSave and find one just prior to the date and time when you did the deletion. You will probably want to make a copy of this and paste it into your main project folder, so that all the media links remain the same, and then open it. If all that was missing is back, you ready to move forward; If not, check out some of your other backup automatically.

I have a project that has audio clips and 80 + files in different locations on my old computer. I do not plan to put the old files on my new computer. I am also changing from XP to Windows 7 so go files in different directories.
