Recovery BIOS; follow-up

Hello

to solve my problem with my h8-1020 for which I thought that the BIOS was dead, I bought a new motherboard and my machine is back now. I installed the new motherboard and all internal components, including the Hitachi hdd for which I was getting errors SMART of the HP diagnostic tool.

Curiously, the hard drive seems to work very well. I downloaded a HGST disk utility and have performed the tests with success. I've lived a session to update Windows without problem.

Now, my question is: why HP diagnostic tool would find mistakes SMART while the test of the HGST does not find? HGST is the manufacturer of the hard drive HP including within its box.

I can't wait to read an explanation of an expert from HP.

Hello

I'm sorry that you do not understand my explanations on the MDI and BIOS application for SMART.

  • Recovery BIOS TS140

After failed BIOS update I tried to follow the chapter "Recovery of a failed BIOS update" the hardware TS140 Maintenance Manual:

    • Downloaded bios_ts140-240-440 - 540_fbkt99a_dos.zip and unzipped the files on a FAT32 format (not bootable) USB drive
    • plugged the drive
    • moved the jumper from position 2-3 maintenance
    • plugged power cord

Powered access server flash player (the LED lights up little) then produces 2 short beeps. There is no video output.

    What Miss me?

the drive must be formatted in a certain way? or the BIOS image file must have a certain name? I just tried with the original IMAGEFB. ROM in the folder of the hard disk. The recovery procedure expects the keys on the keyboard?

I would advised to call our Help Center as the ROM chip may be damaged and a new card system is perhaps necessary.

  • Recovery BIOS for Satellite U400 - 138 PSU44E

    Hello

I could not with update of the bios that I had taken the official support page from toshiba bios file. I don't know that I had chosen the right bios file. But something is wrong and my laptop is brick, and now.

I'm trying to recover the bios with Phoenix crisis recovery. I tried 2-3 varieties of the recovery from the crisis.

I have a backup of the old bios, stable, so I'll try to recover with this old bios file. I tried Win + B, FN + B, Win + F, F + FN, Fn + Esc, keystroke U for the recovery from the crisis.
Furthermore, I use 1 GB drive/usb formatted FAT for this purpose. The machine will beep every time, and I'm waiting for 10 minutes or more after the beeps.

I put the file of bios on usb drive with a lot of names "bios.wph", ".fd", "bios.fd". Also I tried to use the usb disk, the bios file is 2 MB, so I couldn't do it.

I also tried the insyde recovery solution. I don't know the name of the file for recovery.
I looked at the file of bios with a hex editor, but I did not find the name of the file (for example bios.fd or something)

Please * don't * suggest to send laptop for service solution. I have to remedy in * 1-2 days * and the service is so far away from me and they work slowly. If I send to the service, I will not take the laptop for 2 weeks.

What can I do, what is the procedure of work? If toshiba allow us to update the bios, they must support for the recovery, too. ASP is not a solution for every time.

    * Any * help will be appreciated.

    Best regards.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-envy-Ultrabook-4-1000/5269312/model/5274957/drivers?cc=us & LAN...

    1. I created a USB stick with HP UEFI support environment SoftPAQ. Transmission created HP_TOOLS of records (old/new/cureent etc.).

    2 downloaded BIOS (sp60574.exe)

3 can help me is it you pls with what to do next (many approaches in the forum - phoenix of the use of tools or rely the.) FD file GOLD insydeflash automtaically installs).

    Thank you!

If F2 does not mean that UEFI environment is corrupted. This is where a flashdrive HP_Tools have would be helpful. You can also download the softpaq to Diagnostics, run it and install on a flash drive. I've done it before and he will give you a diagnosis portable flash drive. See the following URL. It should allow you to fix the corrupted BIOS.

    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/PC-DIAGS.html

I used winzip to decompress the softpaq BIOS as seen in a previous post, I did in your thread in the image.

All you need is the ROM file with the .fd extension to the root of a usb flash drive empty of FAT32 formatted. Follow the instructions onthis web document.

If I find more information about this problem for you, I will edit this post.

  • Recovery BIOS ThinkServer RD630

    (3) copy amiboot.rom in the root of a USB key (it doesn't have to be bootable).

    (4) turn off the server (if not already).

    (5) turn the dip-switch number 1 BIOS recovery on IT (top) position. (location of the dip switch located on the lower part of the cover of the server).

    (6) USB key insert with amiboot.rom into a USB port on the server.

    (7) power on the server. The screen will be black for a minute, and you will hear 2 beeps.

    (8) when ThinkServer logo is displayed, press F1. Server continues to start the Setup program.

Here's where he goes wrong, all I get is a simple blinking cursor.

Funny it is starting the server perfectly. The only way I found out there was a problem is that I had to set the IP BMC etc.

This is the same problem that

ThinkServer RD530 BIOS Recovery as of 14/02/2014?

    never is the procedure below...

    (9) configuration screen appears and the BIOS flash should start automatically. Wait for flash finish.

    (10) when the flash is complete, the server will restart - turning the server off.

    (11) key USB remove server.

    (12) flip the Recouvrance BIOS switch dip 1 OFF position (down).

    (13) power on the server.

Solution to this is to update the firmware of the LSI, and then you can go back into the BIOS again.

    [Solved]

    The fixed!

So for everyone with the same model and same problem: it turns out that this bios don't really boot block. If the bios failure = brick Clipboard without recovery options.

But here's how I solved mine. Bought a SPI programmer, ic clip (soic8), some test wires and fact adapter to connect the programmer ind clip. Had some problems and also had to change downloaded bios because I didn't have the right backup but after little playing, he shot straight up. If you have good rom backed up, flashing should be easier. It is the solution for those who have more technical, but much easier than the chip soldering skills.

  • Recovery BIOS dv6 - 1247cl - Help update!

I am a professional person THERE who can not find a valid way of correcting a bad BIOS update.  I downloaded the latest BIOS online, only to have Flash my BIOS and in the end, freeze my laptop.  I left the laptop for an entire day, until that I had no choice but to unplug the unit turns off.  Now I have a laptop Bricked through Hewlett Packard.   The BIOS update is a package of Insyde.  I tried to put the BIOS file, I took out of the folder and tried to rename it to 3623.BIN and put on a USB Thum Drive AND even tried it on a CD - R.  Disconnected the battery and the power cord, then tried to turn on the laptop with the PEN drive installed, hold down the WINDOWS key + B key, as I read everywhere on the internet and also tried the method 4 ARROWS and even the ESC + FN and FN + B keys.  NOTHING HAS WORKED.  The laptop beeps SOUND repeat when lit and seems NEVER to play the CD or the USB key and close the CAP LOCK and NUM LOCK light just flashes after the approximately 10 beeps stop... anyone know how really solve this problem?  Believe me, I've read all over the Internet and everyone seems to have the USB STICK to boot on their DV6-XXXX models, but no one has confirmed this works on the model DV - 1247CL.   Seems like my last resort would be to send the laptop to someone who claims that they reprogram the BIOS in laptops for $100 + shipping... so it's $150 when I have a big feeling that they would do a recovery method that I can not make it work.  The HD has been deleted, so there's no EFI partition as a validation request he needs for the method WINDOWS + B works.  Any case, I have a laptop brick beep and I got mad HP is USELESS even responds to emails.   Maybe they'll wake up when someone sues them and it becomes a class action.   The FLASH worked, but then NEVER rebooted my laptop and has frozen, now it's a brick.  Any help would be appreciated because of all the methods I read did NOT work on mine.

THE FIXED!  * beep *... took forever.  To start, my keychain Thumbnail-Sized Patriot-brand USB 4 GB drive has not been recognized by the laptop, so I tried a normal size 8 GB Memorex and it worked.  I'm not sure what makes the work, but I've mostly renamed my file 3623.bin for EACH product listed in the original softpaq platform.ini file (3623-3629) and also had .fd and ROM renames on the USB drive too to 100%.  I also did the Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\current and Hewlett\BIOS\previous records and the record of SystemDiag made by the UEFI utility that I have listed.  My computer seemed a beep every 5 seconds for about 5 minutes, until finally it stops.  When I turned it back on, it says my CMOS was disabled and I back when asked, rebooted, and not, I get the BIOS screen!  Finally!

  • Need technical help, clarification of recovery BIOS HP Elitebook turn 810 G1

So I'm looking to buy a used HP Elitebook turn G1 810, works very well, but the BIOS was locked so it can't be tinkered with as it was a demo produced a password locked client. I read in the support page for the device, the preboot UEFA guidelines technical white paper, to launch the BIOS recovery Partition you should press and hold on all the arrow keys and press the power button. But as this seemed to be a widespread solution for "Netbooks" I was wondering if it would work. The only other solution is to Flash the BIOS, which I assume is the EEPROM chip, and I have no experience. Will it work and what are my options if it won't? I can take it to an HP service center?

I would get the shop call hp while you there & see if they can provide a master password as otherwise it great pain & requires on-line expertise of writing of the bios chip or get replaced chip.

The probooks EliteBook is a pain right when the lost bios password & for sure the store/seller is aware of this as so easy they would sort it before sale ;-)

to be honest I wouldn't touch a demo because most serious uptime & make you near destruction sometimes.
