(Redirected) PowerEdge T110 power problems

The software that I use on this desktop Dell computer is Windows Server 2012. When I go to turn the computer off by using the start menu, it does not close completely down. It turns off my monitor and then it just seems, it puts my computer in standby or Hibernate mode. However he won't do anything once it's done. I can't hold the real power button down to turn it off. The only way I can get it to even come back is if I unplug the power cord going to the back of the computer and let it sit for about 30 seconds. When I plug it back in and press the power button on the computer, it is. If I do a Windows Update or whatever it is to restart my computer it does every time. This problem started only recently and I know that she should not do this.

  • What type of graphics card can I put Poweredge T110 II?

    A result of slots server:

    4 PCIe G2 slots:
    Two x 8 slots (one with x 16 connectors)
    One x 4 slot (with x 8 connector)
    A x 1 slot

Graphics must support Windows server 2012 (are Windows 8, Windows Server 2012-compatible drivers?). I not looking for something fancy or fast, just something that can take care of 2 monitors via DVI or DisplayPort.

I looked at NewEgg section of graphics card and it is difficult to understand what type of interface I should take. This is what NewEgg for interface (I see no x 8 or x 4 as shown in the Poweredge T110 II specs):

    PCI Express 3.0 x 16
    PCI Express 2.1 x 16
    PCI Express 2.0 x 16
    PCI Express x 16
    PCI Express x 1
    PCI Express 2.0
    PCI Express 2.1
    PCI Express 3.0

I would like to try any of the cards with x 8 to the end, even though it says a slot x 16 capacity, but only x 8 power.  The card can only be up to 25w.

  • Dell PowerEdge T110 II add on the video graphics card that works

    The system configuration:
    Dell PowerEdge T110 II
    BIOS 2.8.0
    RAM 2x8GB

For many reasons (for example feeding bus PCI), it is difficult to install a Dell PowerEdge T110 II graphics card.  The ATI Radeon HD 5450 is a good choice for the Dell PowerEdge T110 II because if its (approximately 10W) low energy consumption.

After trying several HD 5450 (listed below), a graphics card that works is a "VisionTek Radeon HD 5450 - graphics card - Radeon HD 5450 - 2 GB memory DDR3 - PCI Express 2.1 x 16'.

Edit: Thanks to paikat for the following references, (see his assignment for the links, where to buy)...
    VisionTek manufacturer: 900356
    Reference Dell: A6173020

This card works when the monitor is connected to the VGA/D-SUB/DB15 connector. I wasn't looking to connect to HDMI or DVI connectors.

After you install this graphics card, passed the BIOS Setup:
Integrated Devices > integrated video controller: enabled

    by saying:
Integrated Devices > integrated video controller: Standard

and allowed to move from "Standard" to "Distributed" so it now says:
Integrated Devices > integrated video controller: distributed

Note: Install the card with the monitor connected to the integrated video port / edge, change the BIOS to Distributed settings, restart the computer and then connect the monitor to the Discrete / distributed / video port to Add on.

Here are the identifiers on the "VisionTek Radeon HD 5450 - graphics card - Radeon HD 5450 - 2 GB memory DDR3 - PCI Express 2.1 x 16'

Here are some pictures of the 5450 VT from DELL:

Other video cards that have been tested and work well in T110 II are:

    * XFX Radeon HD 5450 1 GB GDDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low Profile PCI-Express graphics AMD card HD545XZQH2; HD-545 X-ZQH2
Note there is another version of this card is ONXFX1PLS2 who has not tested.

I hope this can help others avoid the frustration when you try to install a video card in a Dell PowerEdge T110 II.

I have read this thread and seen the suggestion of VisionTek, it also works with the card mother E3-1230V2?

My guess is the Dell PowerEdge T110 II uses the same motherboard for various configurations of CPU, but this is only a guess.

    SR2002
Also, are there better options eventually with the support of 12 DDR5 and directx?

None that I know, but I've only tried a few cards. Please let us know if you find cards better than the VisionTek 900356

    SR2002
I saw a thread suggesting ASUS GTX650-E-2GD5, someone at - he of the inputs on this card?

I tried a GeForce GT 610 2 GB and it did not work.  Check the use of the GTX650-E-2GD5 (DPT) power and make sure that it is less than 25 watts (see below)

    Quick notes:

    1. the location of PCIe x 16 is actually a "full-size x 8 slot" (also known as an x 16 slot / x 8) and the video card needs to work in this type of accommodation.

    2. video card power (TDP) is a limiting factor. Technical guide Dell says "the system supports a maximum power of 25 W for all four cards PCIe.»  and said Dell owner's manual "ATTENTION: to ensure correct cooling, not more than two cards of four extension may have more than 15 W power consumption (maximum 25 W each), not to mention the integrated storage controller card."

3 install the card with the monitor connected to the integrated video port / edge, change the built-in BIOS devices > on-board video controller 'Activated' / 'Standard' to 'Distributed', restart the computer and then connect the monitor to the Discrete / distributed / video port to Add on.

  • Server installation 2012 on PowerEdge T110 II in Raid Mode

I am trying to install Windows Server 2012 on a server PowerEdge T110 II that I just bought.  No software utility disk and the driver provided with the computer!  When I try to install Windows directly from the OS installation disc it tells me that some drivers are missing however it does not list all the specific missing to find out what is missing!  The message reads: "a media computer driver needs is missing."  This could be a DVD, USB or a disk in hard disk driver.  If you have a CD, DVD or USB flash drive with the driver on this subject, please insert it now... »

I read in Guide_en of the user Instructions 2012_Installation your Microsoft Windows Server-we document that I need 7.2 OpenManage that supports the installation of operating system Windows Server 2012.  I got the ISO of OpenManage 7.2.0 A01 from your Web site and burned it to a DVD.  I started the computer with this DVD and was able to get for Dell Systems Build and Update Utility.  From there, I went to set up against Installation OS Server.  It provides a list of supported OS.  Windows server 2008 and 2011 are listed but not 2012!

When I go into the BIOS (PERC S100, version 2.2.3) and change the setting of SATA in ATA and run OpenManage and go to Dell Systems Build and update utility and configure the server against, to presents this time Windows Server 2012 and I am able to go further until it gets to 100% full and restarts.  I insert the installation of Server 2012 DVD during the reboot and it states that "the valid operating system installation media was found.  Press 'OK' to start to install. "A system Build and Update Utility message appears which States:"the temporary Partition is removed.  If an error occurred during the installation of the operating system, you will need to use the Systems Build and Update Utility to restart the installation process. "I press OK and get a Windows Installer message that says:"the file 'autorun.dll' could not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue. Error code is [0xC1] 'I burned the DVD of the BONE from an ISO from Microsoft.  I read that maybe the DVD must be burned differently and at a slower speed.  Who can solve this question (not sure yet), but I would like to configure this computer in RAID mode anyway, and first I have to solve the following question:

    (1) is it still possible to install Windows Server 2012 with the Raid Configuration on this material?  If so, how?  The OpenManage--> Dell Systems Build and update utility--> set up against server does not list server 2012 unless the SATA is not set to RAID!

    (2) when I set up the same computer with Server 2012 as the operating system installed on the site configure from Dell.com and to buy, it gives a configuration error that says "error: 2012 options selected operating system from Microsoft require Microsoft 2012 media.» When I pick/check ' Windows Server 2012, edition Foundation, press release "the error disappears.  Do I need this press kit?  -What is the origin of the problem with the installation?  And where can I get this missing element?

Any guidance you can give me or reference to material appropriate/docs for help would be appreciate because I have lost/spent several days trying to get this installed server operating system!  Thank you.

The T110 II is almost two years, then Yes, compared to 12 G systems, is using older hardware (I suspect that replacement is the T110 II should be out soon).  The S100/S110 is a special implementation of Intel RAID on board, so the S110 is not an option on the older boards that have the S100.

  • Cannot install Windows Server on the new server Poweredge T110 II 2012

HI - just took delivery of my new Dell PowerEdge T110 II with two 1 TB drives in RAID 1, but without any operating system installed.  On the Windows Server 2012 Standard edition installation, the installation routine is unable to detect readers when it comes to choosing the installation location.  I can 'find the pilots', but on the insertion of the Dell supplied DVD, it does not find everything.  I changed different settings, rebooted and tried several times without success.  Entering the system at boot configuration screens, I can clearly see my 2 x 931GB disks and the virtual drives installed on them (I even removed the implementation of RAID and the virtual drives at some point to see if that was the problem).  Any help appreciated.  Regards, Barry

    Hello Barry

You should have received a disc entitled management of system and Documentation Tools. If you start on this DVD, it takes an option to install an operating system. Follow the on-screen instructions and it should load the required drivers. If this does not work then let me know what RAID controller you have.

    Thank you

  • Intrusion status PowerEdge T110 II can not be reset

    Hello

I have a PowerEdge T110 II which is flashing orange health status indicator. The OMSA, the problem was the intrusion alert. I opened the front cover, but now it is closed. How can I reset this alert? I read somewhere to go to the security configuration of the bios to reset it, but there is no encroachment setting it at all. I even updated the bios with the latest version. Any help much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Lee_Km,

Normally this amber should go back to blue when the cover is restored. I want to watch updates iDrac on the server as well as access to the iDrac (Ctrl-E) and then clear the logs. If the error reappears, then remove the cover and see if now the Intrusion PIN down sensor manually disables the error. If yes reinstall it the lid and make sure the PIN is depressed and clears the error. If none of this works, you can also try to reconnect cable Intrusion sensors as well.

    Let me know the results.

  • Dell PowerEdge T110 is not using all the Ram installed

Hi, my name is Juan Marrero.  I work for bike Stop, Inc. in Puerto Rico.

I've recently upgraded the processor and RAM to our PowerEdge T110 server.  Initially, there were only 4 GB of RAM.  Now he has installed 16GB but only 8 GB are usable.

The processor is an Intel Xeon x 3430 and has been upgraded to an Intel Xeon x 3470.  No problem here.

The specifications of the memories are: 4 GB DDR3 PC3 - 10600 ECC Unbuffered DIMM (4 of them)

for a total of 16 GB of RAM.  I searched the internet and found nothing in the BIOS to not limit to 8 GB.

Is there a limitation, no matter what the motherboard and processor say they can handle?

I thought. The Foundation is limited to 8 GB:

  • Replace the two drives in a Poweredge T110 II

    Hello

I am running Windows server 2008 r2 on a Poweredge t110 II server. We had problems with our system crashing a lot lately and it seems to be a problem of hard drive so I replace the two players in our system.

I watched a previous thread on this-

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/1466/p/19529142/20465311#20465311

but the Administration of server to manage open, nothing is displayed on the storage tab.

Can someone help me with this problem?

You do not use a RAID controller. The disks are connected to the SATA controller on the system board. I see nothing to suggest that these disks are in a RAID array. It seems that these disks are connected like a normal desktop system. If you want to replace the readers simply shut you the system down and physically swap disks on.

  • PowerEdge T110 II with GTX760

    Hello

I bought a server PowerEdge T110 II with a Xeon 1240 CPU and RAM 32 wonderful concerts a few years ago. Today, this machine is still spare. So I decided to use it as a coding and games machine.

My first tests were great. Even my old GTX285 very well performed with the server. Now, I decided to upgrade the GPU seriously and stuffed with a GTX760 server.

Now that the server starts, fans speed up, but nothing appears on the screen (in addition to a flashing cursor which disappears as the monitor goes into power saving mode). The LEDs (1) and (2) the up - telling me that "Possible system resource configuration error" had occurred.

Unfortunately I see no way to continue the investigation. I would be very happy to get a few tips from the community.

    Thank you very much, Bezu

I have no answer for that...

In any case, I wanted to update the thread after my last experience:

After hours of investigation, I finally decided to follow "ajesbenshade" with its tip to buy an AMD (ATI) video card. As mentioned above, he got a 270 R9 to run with his T110 II.

    So I ordered a R9 280 X (Sapphire Radeon R9 280 X DOUBLE-X OC). I plugged it in and nothing. Once again.

Then I realized that even if I could obtain a video card to work, I'll never be able to upgrade the GPU the next years. And that's why I finally built a new system complete and ignored the thought to boost the server.

    T110 II, all the world?

  • On the Satellite P30-131 power problem

I have a power problem and I tried the process of elimination, but could do with help, I gave as much detail as possible and appreciate any help or advice.

This started a few weeks ago and seems to be deteriorating slowly.
I turned on the laptop and all 3 lights before the main power on fully charged battery light and light green...

I started noticing a few times when my power cord is plugged into the laptop that, without warning, the laptop switches to the battery power and also turns off power light, battery light turns off too but which may or may not happen, in any case the laptop is still on but now running on battery.

I then out of the supply cable and reconnected it hoping that power is restored, but it has no effect, I have to close then low laptop unplug then Pug back in and I get all 3 lights and then I can start.
Now, when I boot it does not always solve the problem and I can finish on a few seconds of starting battery.

Its certainly not the battery because it has a new battery replaced 12 months however, its either the adapter or the connection inside the laptop that plugs into the adapter.

The reason I think it is perhaps one of them is when the laptop going to battery, lead that is always plugged into laptop, I moved, and this can cause the return of t lights and also the laptop back in, power once again, but if I let go then it goes to the battery again one the light turns off. I also took the battery out and kicked and the laptop works but has lost the power sometimes when I moved it turned off my tour so I'm sure that it is related to the lead, but do not know if its internal or external.

    Any help or advice appreciated

    Thank you

What kind of help did you expect exactly?

    > Its certainly not the battery as it was a new battery replaced 12 months however, its either the adapter or the connection inside the laptop that plugs into the adapter.

It seems you have tested everything that could be tested using common control procedures, I think that more is not possible
I can provide also a few suggestions and I m coming to the conclusion that neither electronic power supply is not ok or your power adapter.
But I would tend to the first; electronic power supply.

As you can see that these are only suggestions

the second problem is that the left mouse botton does not work, the work aside right very well. I went in the proprties to put it right, click on to, but who does not work either. I've updated the drivers but still nothing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi aloum,.

    (a) what kind of mouse you are using?

    (b) the left button of the mouse seems to be stuck or it does not meet the click? This only happens with certain applications?

Step 1: Test the mouse on another computer or another mouse on the test computer

To determine whether the mouse or the computer is defective, follow these steps:

    1. test the mouse in question on a system that works, you know. If the problem appears to follow the mouse, you may need to return or replace the mouse.

2 test a mouse you know is working on the computer in question. If the problem seems to stay on the computer, then the problem is most likely related to the software.

In regard to the battery not holding charge

Battery problems are often associated with the battery itself. If you encounter this problem, contact your mobile PC manufacturer. If you purchased the battery separately from the notebook computer, contact the manufacturer of the battery.

  • OS on PowerEdge T110 II deployment

We just got a PowerEdge T110 II, I followed the instructions I found on the forums like and support documents: use the life cycle, boot on DVD OpenManage,.

    Nothing has worked

In fact, my server has no life cycle, he has Unified Server Configurator instead. I tried to use the USC and was stuck at the point when he asks for the source of the drivers and the location of the catalog.

I extracted the relevant drivers in the OS I have try to install - win 2012 R2, I put it in a USB port. Still could not bypass this step.

    I appreciate all help:

First how to install life cycle?

How to bypass the step asking the source location and the driver catalog?

    Finally, how to install OS?

The T110 II, as noted, is not a lifecycle controller.

Ignore the installation utilities and install directly from the OS to install media.

  • Windows 7 will run on a PowerEdge T110 ii? Network drivers?

I searched the forum search, but couldn't find a clear answer.

Is - this Windows 7 64-bit work a Poweredge T110 ii? with hard disks that are mirrored and the network drivers? I plan on buying a brand new ii of T110, but I watched the support drivers and did not find Windows 7 on this list, only the Server 2008 and other. Please notify. I want a quality system of server for reliability, but with a client OS.

I used the Dell system Build and Update Utility to install Win7 on my PE T610. Since the system disk build, I chose Win Server 2008 R2 as the OS to install. I believe that this creates an installation environment with the appropriate drivers for your hardware. After a reboot, the Build environment system asks you to insert the OS installation disc in which case I insert my Win7 installation disc. The process then continues as normal win7 installation process. No need to load the drivers, etc as this has already been done by the utility of generation.

Note that some features will not work without effort. OMSA must, for example, some functions of the server operating system to this fact will not easily run on a desktop based system. It makes it more difficult to administer your Windows computer.
