  • Absolutely the best possible upgrade for a Dell Dimension C521 graphics card?

I've been upgraded to a Dell Dimension C521, that I use as a general computer and play games.

I know that he will never play in recent games, although with the x 1300 pro that was in it when I got it I have successfully played 2 games or 3 years and more. Runs of Prince of Persia: the forgotten sands, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Darksiders without any problem (all parameters lowish and resolution 800 x 600).

Since I got it I upgraded the CPU to an AMD Athlon 64 x 2 5600 + (Windsor) and the RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB, which has cost me about £25.

I really want to update the graphics card to something better than the Radeon x 1300 Pro that I have atm. I am aware that the PSU is only 280W and I need a map of low profile for this machine, although I read Dell generally insufficiently misses their PSUS in any case. All the posts I can find here and elsewhere online seem to be old enough and I wanted to make sure that I had discovered so far had not become outdated.

So far, I found that the recommended card is the Radeon HD 6570.

Can anyone suggest something better? If not, can anyone suggest what specific version of the 6570 to get (Sapphire, Asus etc.) and the amount of memory to get with it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Can anyone suggest something better?

XFX R7 240 Low Profile Ready

30 watts TDP, against 54 watts TDP for the 6570. Faster, too.

A version of the R7 240 GDDR5 will be even faster, but more money, as well.

  • Dell Dimension C521 CPU Upgrade

Hi all. I have a Dimension C521 (feat) and I would like my CPU from a AMD Sempron (TM) Processor 3400 + ~1.8GHz to an AMD Athlon 64 X 2 6000 3.0 GHz 2 MB socket AM2 89W ADA6000IAA6CZ. But I'm not sure about a few things, that's why I'm here. I would like to know:

    • If the AMD Athlon 64 6000 works with my computer of x 2
    • What is the recommended BIOS
    • If the fan the C521 comes with is good enough to keep it cool
    • If a 280W 955.39BTU / h Maximum PSU is fine
    • If you have any questions = D

    Here is the owner's manual, if it'll help - ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-c521_owner ' s%20manual_en-us.pdf

Also, if I had to update my GPU, what would you recommend?

    xXEblisXx

    The Athlon 64 X 2 6000 + 3.0 Ghz, 89W Windsor, will work.

Before installing the processor, make sure you have the latest version of the BIOS version installed 1.1.11, with BIOS version 1.1.4 support AMD has been added.

The default fan and the PSU should be fine.

  • Supported dual monitor, Dell Dimension C521

I am trying to upgrade my Dell Dimension C521 to enable bi-ecrans support.  My first approach was to buy a video card, hoping to use the VGA integrated with a low end ATI video card in the Slot PCI - E.  While the video card is well worked, by using the onboard VGA in conjunction with a video card is an "unsupported configuration". It is either / or situation, which means that a monitor at the same time.

My second approach is to get a KFA2 GeForce 8400 GS graphics card, which seems to be one of the few that can be used in a low profile CPU and have a DVI and a VGA output. The problem, they do not work.  I say they, because I already tried two, and they both fail the same way: the computer seems to start up, but it is no output to the DVI cable.  If I plug the VGA cable and not on the DVI cable to the monitor, I just get a bunch of vertical lines on the monitor. I talked to a KFA technical support, although at first, they thought it would be a bad video card, they now think it might be related to the fact that power 280W does not meet the requirements of the Commission, which needs a minimum of a supply of 350W.

It seems to me that there are a few options left:

    (1) find a video of lower power of cards that has two * real * outputs - DVI and VGA - (and not only replicated TV output). It will also take a low profile video card.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    (2) upgrade of power supply 350W or more and use the 8400 GS graphics card. Unfortunately, Dell does not appear to make a more powerful PSU for the C521.  Is there power supplies for another half height Dell computers that might work?

    (3) as a last resort, a ditch the C521 and buy a more powerful computer.

Are there options that I left out?

  • Dell Dimension C521 does not start

I have a Dell Dimension C521 desktop computer. When I try to start it, the fan turns on and is really hard, but the screen does not light. The power light on my computer lights up (green), but the 3 & 4 diagnostic lights flash repeatedly on the front of the computer. What is the cause? What can I do about it?

    NetFanatic123

    Hello Bev,

The rest green power light on, no blinking, no beeps. I had no problem until last night after that I removed the hard drive and reinstalled.

How can I remove the memory modules?

    Thanks :)

    NetFanatic123

For the removal and reinstallation of the RAM, details are HERE NOTE from the ADMIN: broken link has been removed from this post by Dell >

A hint: make sure that the modules are filled into the slots and the clips are in the notches.

While the case is open, check that all the power cable and the data are correctly connected to the drive and the motherboard, by removing and reconnecting them.

Why the hard disk has been deleted and reinstalled, was this HD replacement, or what?

  • List of selection with redirection sets the values to null

I saw another post with a similar issue. However, the answer given does not work for me.

I have a "Site" text field whose value depends on a list of select 'customer '. I am able to set the value of "Site" based on the select list with redirect. However, other values on this page are reset to null.

I saw an answer that says to change the display of selection list type to "select the list to submit." But this type of display requires a page that deals with the process is created. This solution did not help either.

    Any solution?

  • Setting up WiFi connection

I have a network local wifi router Kcorp Lifestyle with gold and card and WEP 128 bit encryption. I can't get the wizard of Windows XP on my Portege M200 to recognize the network and communicate with him.

I can get around this by disabling the on-board wifi chip and installing another card Kcorp on the M200, although this is an additional cost, and the map of the glue on the side.

Can anyone tell how to get the chip works with my newwork?

    Hello

Can you please tell us what WLAN card is listed in the Device Manager and it will also be interesting to know how you try to configure the WIFI network (settings Windows or a client)?

  • Satellite A300 - how to set up WiFi draft N?

Hi all new to the forum so Hello.

My father just bought a Satellite A300 with Vista, which I'm trying to set up for him.
I can't get the wireless to connect to 11n only 11g. I tried on both routers that I managed to connect my suburb to @ 11n.

Under Advanced settings in the device, the option of Wireless Manager, it does not list 11n anywhere, it lists all of the combinations of 11A, 11b, and 11g but not 11n!

    Any help pointers appreciated!

    Best regards, Steve

What is the exact model of your Satellite A300 code?

And are you really sure that your Satellite A300 supports draft N? Did you check that?
The fact is that not all Satellite A300 supports the new draft N speed.

To me that sounds like it's your laptop doesn't support draft N and if that were the case, you should try to update the driver WLAN from your laptop.
You can find it on the page of Toshiba.

  • Setting up wifi with ethernet (wifi used to work properly)

    Hello

I use the WRT54G2 with my modem cable (from Optimum Online) for a long time, like a wifi router. Several devices (laptops, ipads, iphones, etc.) bound to it, WPA2 security, everything is good.

Now I need to have a laptop connected via an ethernet connection - to make things a bit more complicated, the ethernet cable is actually passed through a phone, Polycom IP from the router on my laptop. It works fine, I have internet on the phone and the laptop. However, my wifi disappears now other devices.

I assume that the ethernet is supported when the cable is connected, so when I disconnect wifi back upward.

How can I implement both work at the same time in different devices?

    Any help is appreciated

Don't know if I can delete the post, but now I just solved my problem. Changed channel 6 to 11 and all wifi works.

  • Help set up WiFi N on RangePlus WRT110

I recently bought the RangePlus WRT110 wireless router.

I know that this router wireless B, G and even the capacity of N.

Currently, the WRT110 RangePluss configuration is on wireless-B (802 11b).

I have a WiFi (Intel (r) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN) and therefore, I would use the n wireless.

So, what should I do to configure the RangePlus WRT110 from B to N?

Thank you all for your time and your concerns.

    Hello!

As a user of Linksys what I offer you is that instead of using the modes B, G or N on the router try using mixed mode which will give you an optimal connection and work with all devices...

In order to change the mode follow these steps

    (1) open the browser of any Pc wired...

in the address bar type in the url...

    http://192.168.1.1

a pop-up window will appear asking you a username and password...

    the default is 'admin '...

    (2) once on the overview page of the router... on top, you will find a tab 'Wireless'... click... This is where you find the mode... Change everything you want it to be...

    (3) once, you don't change please save settings...

Come back back if you face all the questions...
