Reference on separate text block in a page

I have 2 on a text block text block 1st page has 2 columns and downstairs is a text box where I want my note to the Earth, how can I do this? coz every time I place a reference within history, it turns on Earth in the first column or the 2nd column of the 1st block of text.

It's the layout:

1st column text 2 column text

  • frames of text block on master pages

I use InDesign CS4. I created a master page from left and right - each master page has two text blocks. All frames are threaded, starting with the first picture on the left mask, then the second image on the mask on the left, which is then threaded to the first image on the good master, which is bound to turn the right on the right master frame.

When I throw the text in blocks of text on layout pages, the text flows from the first column of the first page to column on the next page and so on.

Is there a way to force the text to flow in the same way that frameworks are configured on master pages? In other words, I want a page layout, text is flowed by the first column of the first page, in the second column on the first page, to the first column on page 2, in the second column on the second page and so on.

Are you that flow directly into the main frame, or you would outweigh the first one before placing the text? Substituted executives are no longer a part of the master plan of thread, but I think if you had column giudes implemented this autoflow elapse even through all the columns in the page, even if she was not use key frames. A little confusing, to say the least.

Can you post a blank doc with this master page somewhere and give us a link here?

  • Text block and master pages

    Hello

is there a way to create a text frame on a master page that allows the user type directly instead of having to break up the link/unlock?

    Thank you

    Robert

When you create a new document, if you check the main text frame, it uses this framework of main text on the master page by default.

If you tap on a page based on this mask, you can click in text without substitution.

  • Move the text block to another Page

    Hey,.

I'm new to InDesign scripting, and I've been browsing the docs for quite awhile, but can't find how to move a block of text to another page.

The closest I came was a .parentPage, but it is read-only.

I have my frame on the first page of the document, how can I move, let's say, on page 5?

  • Selected items from list to separate text block

    Hello

Could someone please help find a solution to this? In the linked image, you will see a numbered list with each line in the list starting with a digit 4 (magenta), there is also a login of color in the form of a capital letter (orange). I need to take these pieces from each line and creates a single string, separated by dashes of underscore, as shown in the attached file.

Could you think? If so, how could we do?

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

    Hello

    Ok. Replace these lines:

    var source = mDoc.textFrames.item("source");
    var output = mDoc.textFrames.item("output");

    with:

    if (app.selection.length != 2) exit();

  • Insertion of a middle Page of separate text on a two column layout box

    Hello!

I'm working on a book with a layout in two columns.  At various times, I need to insert what are effectively the chapter breaks.  Currently I have a giant text block flowing for all 65 pages.  This provision is (I think?) made necessary by the scripts that I am running for our line numbers and our notes.

My original idea was to put the chapter title in a separate text block and wrap the text around it, so that I can keep the unique setting of the main text.  Unfortunately, in the two-column layout, this means that the text in the first column went * under * the title of the chapter to complete the first column, no matter where I moved it.

I think I may need to end the block of text of the first chapter and start a second for the new chapter get the result I want.  However, I have a few worries about that: first of all, if I ended up simply text block, I should remove the other 55 pages (after the break) I already partially formatted and screw them from scratch in the text box of the new chapter?  Secondly, I also fear that making a separate text block could ruin my scripts endnote and line numbers.

(NB: if I need to put an end to this block of text and starting a new one, I can't find a way to do it on a page at the beginning of a block of text in several pages, so I need help with this, too.)

Y at - it a simple way to insert this text box so that text of the first chapter ends perfectly in two columns above it, and the next chapter starts cleanly into two columns underneath?

Please see attached screen captures, showing the current state of things.  The text box has been inserted with a simple wrap around it.

    Hello

Have you checked characteristic Columns Span integrated InDesign? http://InDesignSecrets.com/timesaver-span-and-split-columns-in-CS5.php

Now that you have your text formatted in a single framework with two columns, you can select the chapter header text and tell him to cover all the columns in the text block.

This warp the need to set up a separate text frame.

The only downside I can think is that you use the the duration columns can slow down InDesign a bit.

  • Master Page does not work for the text block

    What I am doing wrong?

    I create a master page.

    It's a given size, 6 X 9

    It has a margin.

It has a text box with a heading for chapter headings.

    So far so good.

At least I have substitute her in the following pages, it seems fine.

    However.

I want a footer (for page numbers) so that I place a footer on the bottom.  Let's say it's an inch of height.  Right now it has nothing in it.

I want a block of text that falls between the header and the footer, so I can run inside without having it encroach on header or footer.

    The header seems protected.  But.

No matter how much I try and do all that I do, "foot" does not appear on the following pages.  Nor does the text box.  The header area is "taken", but the rest of the page is at stake.  Not "foot".

Help, please.  It's driving me crazy.

    Thank you.

Thanks, Willi.  I thought about it.  Sometimes I'm so tired of banging my fool head against a wall.  I wanted to have coherent text blocks in my pages.  I didn't think I didn't NEED them.  The footer has appeared in the following pages as soon as I put SOMETHING in the chassis.  A variable.  When it is empty, the space is considered as unoccupied.  Duhhhh.  Time to go to sleep!

  • Help w. blocks of text in the Master Page

    Hello

I need to do a simple task, but it seems impossible.

I do a large number of documents of the same type and stlye. Lets say, something like a certificate or diploma. They all have the same design, and the only thing that is different in them is the text in 2 areas that each text a. say that if we follow the example of certificate on each card, I have to put in the same text two boxes - 'the name of the person' and 'date '. So I have to set a beautiful master page with 2 text boxes that I can fill in for each card. Given that design can change, I need to be able to move the positions of the boxes on the master page, after I filled out their. I have to be able to change the case, the police and other properties of text in each box. For example, I when I have done 1000 certificates and filled respectively 1000 names and dates of receipt and then I decide that I must place the box with the name on a different position on the page and also to change the properties of the text, as Times New Roman to the Georgia. And to do it from the master page or another effective way without changing each certificate.

So far I managed to place the boxes on the master page, and I saw that I can replace the text in each certificate and always be able to move the position of all the boxes on the master page. But I can't find a way to change the properties of text boxes.

Thank you very much for your help!

The trick is to not move the text block on the page of the document, or you need to move each one individually. If you want to move them all, move on the master page. If it's just a few, you need to move those appearing on the document pages and lose the connection to the master page.

And you need to use styles if you want to make a change that will change everything. A paragraph style should do, unless you want different text within a paragraph attributes. In this case, apply styles of character for different pieces. And substitute styles locally.

  • In a primary text block text block

    Hello

as a newbee in indesign css 6 I watched several videos, myself worked through tutorials and try different things. I would like to create a complete book with about 350 pages composed almost entirely of text. Due to the amount of text I thought to use a block of text within pages of various books.

However, there is a specialty. After some of the topics, there is a reference with the name of the author of this quote. Citations should be justified, but chocked right (the right edge of the block justified must be to the right of the page). A separate text block would be good for this. However, within a block of primary text I can't place another block of text, right? What options should I? I have to remove the primary text block and put all the text in a string of text frames manually?

    Kind regards

    Adobaen

You can also try withdrawal left with a justified paragraph style.

  • Muse: Text blocks the lower graphic States

I created buttons with rollover States: Normal with a 30% opacity. Rollover, Mousedown and Active: shadow 100% more drop. It is related to the landing page. So far so good.

I want the text for each button to be 100% opacity all the time (he has a shadow too) so it is easy to read (not spent 30%), so it is in a separate text block, also linked to the landing page.

How can I get the text above the button in a constant state of 100% and do not have the text block are interfering with the States below.

Of course, I forgot something. What Miss me?

The easiest way to do this is to use the "status button" comes with Muse widget.

    Hello

Page layout and rendering of text varies depending on the browser and browser (and Muse and browser). The smallest of these differences can cause line breaks occur at different locations in the text stream. This is what is happening here. For example, Muse welcomes "Vermont" on line six, while the browser pushes him to seventh.

Your design should take account of these differences in making the block of text a bit bigger and moving the text block 'Details on page' a little lower.

    I hope this helps.

  • Eratic behavior: book, the main text blocks and Cross References

    I'm on InDesign 2014.2. Mac.

I'm working on a fairly large book. About 14 chapters / sections, about 400 total pages. There are also hundreds of cross references, almost all of them to anchor references.

The design of the book is as simple as possible. There is no graphics, text blocks only.

I use a single master page, with facing pages, and a block of text type. I used it throughout the production of the book, and the primary text flow worked well, chapter after chapter. Pages have been created automatically, and automatically flowed text.

Maybe I need to change the page size of the book, and I also have a lot of editing to do which will reduce a lot of the chapters. I wanted to make sure all pages use the main text flow to do that, go as gently as possible.

To my dismay, I discovered that although I used systematically throughout the book master text streams, all but three of my chapters have inexplicably lost their text stream. All images in these chapters have converted into ordinary images. That I edit the book, it's playing havoc with paging and referrals.

I tried to restore the flow of text in one of the first chapters. It's easy to do, in theory.

    • Move the first page off to the side frame
    • Delete all pages except the first page
    • Command-shift-click on the first page to restore the flow of the main text
    • Copy and paste the contents of the old frame into the primary stream restored.

When I do, the pages to move properly, and I'm back to having a chapter with a block of primary text on each page. Unfortunately, this breaks all cross-references that refer to this newly reorganized chapter and all references to the front in this chapter.

I tried to do all that I could imagine. Only remove the frames and not pages. Try without the busy book. Nothing works. I tried the command update cross-references in the book menu. Has nothing.

It seems impossible to redistribute the text in a new primary master framework, without completely breaking the cross references.

I finally found something that seems to work:

    • Create a new master page at the end of the document.
    • Go to the last page of the history of the chapter and the last history image a link to the text block type on the page that you just created.
    • In the pages palette, delete all pages in the document, with the exception of the master page that you created.

All text will be redistributed within the frameworks of masters, and cross-references (to and from the frame) seem to be intact.
