Reference VI close

In my main VI, I opened a VI VI another reference (let's call it VI1) and used the invoke node to run VI1 in the background.  Once done VI1 running, I thought that I still have to close its reference in my main VI.  However, the reference to VI1 became invalid.  What is a standard behavior? It is not supposed me why the references become invalid.

Looks like you set Auto have Ref.

Help of LV:

Allows you to run a VI regardless of the appellant without opening the front panel immediately or by opening another reference inside the target VI. If TRUE, the referenced VI transfers ownership of the calling VI to the VI reference that is currently running. This means that has LabVIEW from the reference, as well as the parallel data space, when the target VI goes idle, not when the VI who opened the reference will idle. The reference still usable by the VI calling until the target VI closes the reference. Appellant VI has no need to close the reference, unless the method run a VI returns an error. If the reference the appellant closed VI, VI target can stop and leave memory. If FALSE, LabVIEW has automatically the VI reference when the VI who opened it is idle. The default value is FALSE.

  • Close the vi reference does not not on reentrant vi

I have a reentry vi which will not close its reference. My program work experience, and once the experiment is complete, I use the FP. Open the property node (w / a fake wired to her) and a reference to close to automatically close the VI and reference. If I go into Windows Explorer to reopen the VI for editing, I get a popup 'a VI in memory with the same name cannot be replaced because it is in use. Click OK to open the VI in the memory. »

Now, if stop my program courses through the experience by pushing the button exit (which runs the same FP. Open and close reference) and try to reopen the VI through the Explorer, there is no popup and the VI opens without a hitch. I can't figure out why there is this difference in behavior, or why I can't close reference VI.

    Is reentrancy issue?

  • Several loops of RT; A single FPGA reference

I have three loops using the same reference FPGA.

Loop 1 - reads most of the data in the FPGA for display on the HMI

Loop 2 - using the information made available to the loop 1 as well as some additional data that is read from the FPGA to perform the functions required by the HMI controls and writes for the FPGA.

Loop 3 - uses data from Loop1 as well as additional data read the FPGA to run commands fuctions and wrote security for the FPGA.

    My questions are:

The FPGA Refence points to a single memory block where all three loops are looking at the same data?

I need on While loops shift registers to keep data updated correctly?

I need to run the three sons reference FPGA close While loops to close the reference correctly?

    Yes.  N ° N °

I assume you mean wire reference FPGA entering a node that reads the FPGA reference you speak or write in the Panel control or indicator that is part of the VI running on FPGA.

  • Do I have to close the 'context of the sequence' in Labview?

    Hello

I pass the Teststand SequenceContext for Labview to access step.

Now my question is: do I have to close the past SequenceContext-reference mentioning 'close' in Labview?

Or this reference is automatically closed?

Is it possible that the closure is NOT the reference takes memory?

    Thx for the help

    Hi OnlyOne,

Any reference TestStand that you pass to your code as an input module will be automatically closed/released/managed by TestStand so you don't have to worry about the reference to the context of the sequence of your VI of closing.

  • Reference to a while loop

If you open references to a LabVIEW object, such as an application,
control or VI, close the references using the LV object close
Datum feature. Otherwise, the reference remains in memory even
Although the VI is no longer use it.

This quote is from the development Guide of NOR. I realized that I used for references without closing them. Even if I never met no problems, I decided to add a close reference to my programs. My question is, should I put the reference and close reference as well live in a while loop and open/close each iteration or should I use reference open before a while loop and close after the while loop, in this way, I'll have to use a shift register to maintain the reference. Or if there are other options. Can someone give some advice?

    Thanks in advance,

    Wang Guangde

Open and close your references outside the loop (i.e. open the ref before the loop and close it once the finished loop execution).  Repeatedly opening and closing the same reference inside a while loop is unnecessary and takes up an unnecessary overload.

Also, because the reference does not change with each iteration of the loop (unless you're doing something for her specifically?), you don't actually have a registry change.  You can use one if it makes you happy, however.

  • Manage the XML files in the workspace tool

    Hello

I developed a workspace tool that was working until I have add the report XML file IO > XML > XML Parser.

I can't add any VI of this palette to my worksapce tool. I get an error when trying to open the workspace tool if one of these screws is inside my tool.

    The error is:

In my workspace tool, I need to open/create/modify and save XML files.

I am in a position to use property nodes and node invoke for this type of files. And I already replace all screws of NI_XML.lvlib for nodes of property and call the nodes. But there are 2 screws that actually, I'm still unable to find the solution for them.

Who are the NI_XML.lvlib:New.vi and the NI_XML.lvlib: Close .vi, because they are protected by Word.

Anyone has idea how to solve this problem?

I noticed a few screws of this palette XML using a dll. For example the first matched NI_XML.lvlib:Get Node.vi this interior uses the DOMUserDefRef.dll.

I saw this dll functions and there is a for close, which might be the one they use inside the Close.vi. The function is DUXDocumentClose.

I need this because you cannot close a XML reference with close Reference.vi.

I need to replace the 3 screws

You can do it in the manner that main vi is only as .vi. Dependencies must go to llb in the same folder as vi main.

You can look at some of the tools here: https://github.com/NIVeriStandAdd-Ons/

  • Passing parameters to dynamically loaded screws

    Hello

I have a data acquisition application that uses an analog input, PCI-Hardware.
With this material I enjoy different channels and display them in audio
In operation 'Preview' I enjoy 4 channels and display them in 4 audios.
I have therefore a quarter of the maximum sampling for each channel.
Operation 'zoom' I only enjoy a channel (at the material max sampling rate)
and display the data in the selected channel (the other channels are igored in zoom mode)

My idea is to launch the different screws according to the mode (overview, zooom).
I could imagine, that a good approach to perfom this task calls different screws
    of the main program.

Unfortunately, I do not understand how to pass parameters to the VI if I call them
using knots "reference open VI", "call for reference" and "close reference VI.
I tried to understand the Labview "Example of dynamic load", but it's too complicated for me.
Can someone give me a simple example to dynamically load the screws or y at - it white papers
    or nugets on this topic?

  • App to manage several versions of Windows LV

    Hello!

I can't find a reference to an application that allows you to interact (launch, etc...) with versions of LV, if we have many of those that are installed on the same PC. I remember, I saw a forum doesn't post not long ago, where someone said he has something like that. It's always annoying when I want to open a VI of disk, choose which version should open, etc...

    Thanks for the info!

Just for reference and close this post, I just found the link to this app that I remembered that some time ago by chance )

  • How to run several motors in parallel using NI 9501

I want to run three engines at the same time using NI c series module and compac rio 9501 9074 with the example built in open loop speed control...

I need to change in the code than anything... Actually, I copied the same fpga code and change the setting of... motor module work but for engine 2 when I try to disable its player it disables the engine 1. do I need to change something in the code of RT too?

    Hi SaraBaber,

Thanks for posting. You need to change the FPGA code and code in real time. In the FPGA code, you must copy the contents of the State of the drive another loop 2 times (it is not necessary to do another 2 while loops, just do while loop larger to include additional code) and replace the modules modules 2 and 3. Similiarly for RT code, you can copy existing code, once 2 wiring additional two paths to the same "Open FPGA VI reference" and "Close FPGA VI reference. You also need to update read/write for the second and third motor controls.

    I hope this helps!

  • Error opening of automation

HI, I've faced an error while I try to open the excel program in labview, when I tried to run the program, I get the problem but when I remove the battery sequence then it become Ok and I don't know why, cansomebody please help me.

    Thank you

You have no error clusters wired, so if a mistake happens along the way, you never know. A couple of obvious questions:

    • You create unnecessary references you already have. More precisely: you use the Worksbooks.Application property to get the reference to the Excel application, which you already have. This is an entry to the VI!
    • You must close the references in the opposite order in which you created the. Therefore, you must use the cluster of error to force a shutdown sequence. Your reference functions close have no such dependencies, so you can't know in advance that you will run first.

I would say going through the thread Excel for examples on how to manipulate Excel via ActiveX.

    Hello

    1. What is the type of file that you burn in the disk?

    2. have you made changes on the computer recently?

    3. are you able to burn the disc using any third party CD or DVD burning software?

Once you get a message that the burning is complete, check the size of the free space and space used on the DVD.

For information about how to check the user-space and the free space, you need to right click on the DVD drive, and then click Properties.

Well, it seems that when you burn a CD or DVD, the disc is not finalized.

  • DATAEXPORT RDBMS - changing column dim accounts on time

While performing a DATAEXPORT to Oracle using the DSN, the format of the created table has members of the account dimension in columns and other dimensions in the lines. Is it possible to change the size of the accounts column in time everything by exporting the data to the RDBMS uses the DATAEXPORT command?

The problem is that I have about 1000 members in the dimension of accounts and that it cannot be that a large number of columns in my table. Is it possible to manually set the size of column when you use the DATAEXPORT command? I can use the cdf Jexport, but I don't know if I'll get the same performance as the DATAEXPORT with the bulk insert options.

See my ignorance. I use this command all the time with relational and it works fine. I guess I should have read the reference tech closer and I never would have tried.

  • Null reference close behavior

    Hello

I have a question about the behavior of the reference 'close' when you try to close a Null reference.  LabVIEW which will examine and pass or it will produce an error?  I also read in the 'help' that you can give a table of references and it close all.  However, what happens if one of the Ref table is Null?  Is this all closes the actual Ref and continue with an error, or it does not work as a passing beam to loop around the cluster of error in the shift register thus preventing to close any other Ref?  I just want to test the code to answer my own question, but as annoying as it is the case, I'm not entirely sure if he sent a white ref is the same as sending a Null Ref.  You can answer that one as well if you wish.  Thank you.

Looks like it will produce an error if you enter a null reference and that just sent some kind of reference constant that you did not actually open is indeed zero. If you try to close a table of references, it seems that he is trying to close between them, even if it is a null in the Middle reference.

  • VI front panel does not close when it is done executing, when this vi was called by reference.

I created a simple vi set to indicate the problem I'm having. I run dynamically under vi to leave a main application. Simply the main application is my test exec and the Subvi I call dynamically is different tests. In the example I have write here the criterion vi is called Test electric 1(vi). I configured this electric Test 1 vi to see the front when it is called and close later while initially closed.  Problem is that it doesn't close before.

Other things to keep in mind

    • I want to be able to run the vi test and do not wait until it is done.

    I'm using LabVIEW 2012 SP1.

Basically the fence after that call questions only if the VI is called as a Subvi (as if you open you a VI and run it, it does not close when it's done).  Are two ways to work around this or have your app high lvl close the VI when it's done, it's explained here:

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/987B2026B41BD39786256CF800032E8C

or having your VI close when it's done.  A reference of the VI and the front panel: Close call node.

    I hope this helps.
