"Refine edge" creates now automatically new layer... why?

• Refine edge tool makes no difference

  After making my selection, I go to "refine edge" and use the brush to change the selection - except nothing happens. No changes occur to the selection. I watched YouTube tutorials, checked my settings, even reset my settings and nothing. What is going on?
  P.S. It happened randomly, all of a sudden, not only after an update or anything, it just stopped working. That is what it is? So frustrating! I'm doing a photo restoration and need it works!

  FYI, Refine Edge went in its new version of Photoshop and was replaced by Select and mask.

  You can choose the text tool in an effort to make a montage.

  Instead, double click on the T in the text layer.

  I am a person very knowledgeable Photoshop/InDesign and Illustrator. I paste the pictures on the net in my doc of Illustrator, but when I do each time that it will either create a new layer, place the object in this layer and from there on after all new objects in this new layer even places. Only happens when I am pasting from somewhere outside of the Illustrator. Please help because it's put a damper on my work because now I have to remember to take all pasted objects on a certain layer... I use 9 layers.

  In the layer panel menu, uncheck "paste remembers layers".

• Why the new update now automatically put my uid/pw in the box? Previously, I had to click on the box. It is a security risk.

  The latest update of Firefox now automatically my uid/pw in the boxes. Previously, I had discretion because they do not display unless I clicked on the box. Now anyone who uses my pc (same family), are they 'just' to go to my bank or other personal sites, the information is displayed. Although the pw is "played on" it makes no difference because it appears automatically.
  My concern is that the extra security of 'not seeming to be here' today has been removed. It wasn't a well-thought updated.

• Why doesn't iPhoto creates EVENTS automatically more?

  I have a MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.5.  From 2012 to 2015, whenever I inserted an SD card with pictures on it of my camera Panasonic, created iPhoto AUTOMATICALLY a NEW EVENT.  This made it very easy to find pictures, say, holiday in April 2014.  Now iPhoto is more for this.  I insert the SD card, photos are uploaded on my MacBook Pro - and there is no new EVENT created automatically.  It's very frustrating b/c I have to now click on "All Photos" to find something. Help!

• Actions - create new layer always give prompt

  I use Ilustrator CS5 and created an action that does the following:

  • Select all and copy an object
    
  • creates a new layer
  • pasta in places on the new layer
  • changes the color of the selected object
  • renames the layer with the color name that was used
  • repeats so I have 21 different layers, all with different colors

  Overall, it works very well. But, whenever it makes the new layer, I get a box of the new layer dialog box and I have to click 'ok '.  The action creates 20 different layers, I'd only not to click ok for each new layer.  Not sure why this dialog is coming because he doesn't when I record the action. Any ideas?

  In the actions Palette, disable the modal dialogue box on the left side of the action step that creates the new layer.

• Select and artifacts of mask using the new refine edge

  Hi all

  is - that someone else has had this problem since the last update version 2015.5.0 Photoshop?

  I find strange artifacts when using select and mask and the new brush refine edge that would not happen in the old refine edge.

  The Alpha channel looks good but the image shows of strange artifacts and blurry tasks and resembling traces of brush end hard.

  I took the time to correct my mask in order to remove any traces of brush hard edge, but they seams to still be there. I find it very frustrating.

  

  Hmmm... think I just found the answer to my question. I got the color box to decontaminate tiquetee.

  I have hidden without this box and the blur and artifacts disappeared. My recommendation for anyone making high range of editing and masking is to leave this box unchecked.

  How do you create the new layer? Looks like you have a selection and use ctrl/cmd-J. If you have a choice and it is empty, you will get this error.

• Hello Im having trouble with a create a new layer.

  Photoshop lighting effect filter does not work. A new layer called just the effects of light appears, why?

  Under help > system info, copy and paste the first two lines identifying the exact version of your OS and Photoshop.

  In Photoshop, the command is the menu Filter > render > lighting effects

  Don't use "Last filter" or it runs the command without bring to the top of the dialog box.

  I spent the day to reset my workflow and keyboard shortcuts that I have the transition from CS5.5 on CC. A question about the ID:

  1. create a new layer draws up the InDesign menus? In CS5.5, I managed to create a shortcut customized in three programs (PS, I, ID). In cloud creative, no matter how hard I look in InDesign, that I can't find a place in the dialog box shortcuts keyboard to make a shortcut for this command.

  2 in Photoshop and Illustrator, by pressing the F button toggles between screen modes. In InDesign CS5.5, it does the same thing. However, CC does not seem to have this feature. He wants to assign three different shortcuts for Normal, overview and presentation of the screens. Correct, and is it possible to return to a toggle key 'F'?

  Anyone know automate what this function in fact CS6? Under file-> automate, I see a "plug-in on the new layer. However, when I click nothing happens...

  I wonder if it was installed with a plug-in. Anyone know what it does or how to use it?

  I think that it is a plugin Alien Skin.

  (the name of the plugin must be AutoLayer.8li in plugin Alien Skinfolder)
  

  If your on windows xp, you can easily see what a plugin is by right clicking on it

  and choosing Properties > Version

  and think it has to do with the creation of a new layer to the output of the filter.
