Reinstall Vista without losing data.
Trying to fix a friends laptop that has the following error: -.
File windows\system32\configzsystem status: 0xc000000f
Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or damaged. Can not do a Vista repair it still comes with the above error. I managed to get into the back through recovery cd and copied data via xcopy on external hard drive, so the user data are safe. Via back managed to discover that under system32 config directory is missing and so evrything under him. As I can't get into windows then try a patch upgrade is possible to install Vista without losing data or I have to do a clean install and then copy the data from the user throughout. CD I have is Dell reintallation Vista 32 bit SP1.
Can you remove the hard drive from the laptop, if so, connect it to a desktop computer to extract the files.
Note: Depending on the age of the laptop, you need a drive adapter.

How to restore my OS to Vista without losing DATA or other programs?
My Dell laptop sent to the Geek Squad because the keyboard went wrong. When I came back, they said they have updated the BIOS and recommended I have restore the operating system. I can do without losing other programs or data. If so, how?
Hello
With most of the recovery methods, probably not. Usually, they return a machine to factory condition, wipe all data on the drive in the process. You should consult the documentation for your system or with Dell support to see if there are other options.
Unless you have insoluble problems, associated with the update of the BIOS, that said, there is no reason that you would need to reinstall. Good luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Crazy" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Windows help - www.rickrogers.org

> What steps should I follow?
As far as I know on the second partition of HARD drive folder HDDRecovery is saved recovery image. When you start the installation of (F8 at startup) HARD disk recovery partition recovery image D will be installed on the C partition. In this case the D partition is not deleted. C just partition will be formatted before installation of recovery image begins.
Just use F8 option and go fix my computer. Just follow the on-screen menu and choose the software factory default recovery option.
> 2 If the disc is defective, how do I re - install supplied OS (vista) for a new HARD drive?
After reading this question, I see you didn't read the document s user manuals. You need to create a recovery media (DVD recovery) and this recovery DVD you can use for recovery image installation if there is a problem with the HARD drive or you want to install original recovery image on the new HARD drive.
3 > unrelated meanings, can I upgrade to Windows 7 (clean install) 32 or 64 bit version?
Of course you can do it. Please visit the download page of Toshiba on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp and check if all the drivers, tools and utilities are available here. Of course before doing this, create recovery DVDs.If you have any other questions you are welcome.

Satellite L350 - want to reinstall Vista without touching the second partition
Hi all
I want to reinstall Vista without touching the second partition that is full of data.
I'll be able to do with this procedure? http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm#The confusing part is when it says in the explanation that the * entire hard drive * will be formatted (step 2) but on one of the photos, it is written that only data on C: will be erased.
I have Satellite L350, and the hard drive recovery process is the same as on the connected tutorial before (I'm not completely obviously)Hi amigo
I tested its operation, and from my experience, I can confirm that when you use the HDD recovery procedure as described in the Toshiba document all data saved on the second partition won t be deleted.
Only if you are using recovery DVD (please create a) will be formatted the whole HARD disk.

How to reinstall Vista without the disc?
How do I clean reinstall vista without cd, I have the code thouh.
Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
They will tell you how to do this.
Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
How do you write the command for the conversion of FAT32 disk to ntfs without losing data to an external drive in Windows 7 and how you can convert the local drive too?
Convert a drive to NTFS does not fit.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/convert-a-hard-disk-or-partition-to-NTFS-format
(Vista/Windows 7 - it doesn't matter in this case).
However, pay attention to this:
"Although the risk of corruption or loss of data during a conversion are minimal, you must back up all data on the partition before you begin."
Because something can and probably will happen. -
If you had mentioned malicious programs in your original question instead of saying "I don't remember psswrd admins", I would have included this:
Malware can also cause problems with passwords:
Download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware in Mode safe mode with networking:
How to reinstall windows without losing any data on the Satellite A100
Hello everyone!
I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop and would like to reinstall Windows. The disc was divided into 2 parts. WinXp Home is installed on the first.What happens with the data on the secondary disk if I use the recovery CD? It will be formatted?
And if this is the case, how can I reinstall winXP Home without losing the data on the second drive?You can install the OS on the first partition only and all data saved on the second partition will not be deleted. To do this procedure of departure recovery and after choosing the language button tablecloth call SETUP. It is placed on the right side.
If I like what you must remember he chose the second option. The first one can be used when you want to create the new partition (DO NOT choose this one).
Bye and good luck!
How format/reinstal Win7 without losing my data
I had a problem with laptop of my vga, and now it turns out that my windows you have something eror, it won't go on the desktop / user account, just on the windows loading screen.
I need to format/reinstal my windows curent, without losing all my data, but how?Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
Click Install now
Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.
You will receive the following warning:
The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.
(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK
The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.
Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.
You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.
Hey sam127
Yes, you can do an installation of upgrade repair within a vista operating system unless it is a cover of dvd manufacturers you use
They allow normally, don't you reinstall vista back to factory standards
and make sure that the installed on the operating system service pack is not later that what is on the dvd
If this is to uninstall the service pack of the operating system doesn't upgrade the repair and then reinstall the service pack
Voila
