Reinstall Windows XP MCE 2005

I bought a HP pavilion a1650y with XP Media Center Edition 2005 and Works 8.0, and due to a problem of ransomware, he was "wiped out" by a cd of killdisk by a friend last wek.  I've never done a restore for her cd, and now the OS entry disappeared.

Is there a way I can get the already purchased XP OS again?

Order the recovery disk for your system from the following third weblink:

These records will help to restore the system to factory with all the pre-installed software settings.

I found another detachment of last year with the same problem, and the only answer giving was basically "fugedaboutit, buy Windows 7.  It is not useful (but the question "is this useful" was only followed a button 'Yes', so I couldn't even press on 'no'!)

Elsewhere online, I found pages that indicate that the first disc of MCE is XP Pro, and that what is installed depends on the key entered when asked.  I have two keys to MCE (one of the sticker on the computer, another from an MSDN subscription (now expired, but the key was obtained while he was active)).  I want to install MCE MSDN discs, and yet the two keys are rejected as invalid.  An old Pro key I (also MSDN subscription) has been accepted... but everything installed was Pro (of course).  I paid for MCE.  I have what should be the valid keys to MCE.  I want to be able to reinstall MCE.   How can I do this?

As far as I know, all MCE2005 disks use the same set of keys (MS released a new slice of key for SP3, but I don't think that the ERM has been included in this).

This means that your problem is something else.

I guess you can't even to go as far as the second disc?

When you enter the key - is she refusing the key then and there, or not let you enter a character? If you can enter it OK, when the problem arises in the activation process?

If this is a problem with the activation of the process itself, then...

  • Qosmio G30 / Windows MCE 2005 + SP3

    Hi guys,.

Had some problems with SP3 on Windows XP MCE 2005.

Once installed my cable TV box is no longer works, continues to come up with an error.

I read many forums with questions on MCE SP3, but none of the solutions have worked for me...

    Anyone had problems?

    Matt

Have you had problems with SP2?
Of course, it could be that there is no problem with SP3 on MCE.

And what error you get exactly?

Search on the site of Toshiba for the driver and BIOS updates:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online support => Toshiba download drivers

Last but not least, look for an update for your TV decoder or reinstall it.

  • How can win XP MCE 2005 restored in Chinese language, I change to English?

I got my windows XP MCE 2005 of a disk partition on my laptop Asus A - 8J but recovery after that is in the language Chinese (maybe because it was bought in Taiwan)

During my recovery, I think that the first page asks the language options, but everything is written in a Chinese language, how can I select the English language?
Now everything is displayed in Chinese and I can get to the control panel > regional and language Option > language tab > Details button, but how can I change the language that everything is always displayed in Chinese.
Please help to change display and the input to the English language.

    Hello

The option for English on the language selection screen should be in English.

During installation, you can select English in the locale.

You can also change these settings in the control panel as well by going to the regional and Language Options:

If you can't navigate through the windows in Chinese then you should try the English selection during a new installation of Windows XP.

  • Windows XP MCE will not install correctly

I tried to re-install version OEM of MCE 2005 on a friends PC, it came with the PC OEM license. The installation is bug. First installation, it does not have all network protocols and the icon for the network connection has been totally absent.
Reinstalled the 2nd time, the network protocols installed by closing sequence was absent IE; No button to offer standard options (shutdown, restart, log off user etc..). Because it is highly unlikely, the company that made the PC (not a brand like HP Enterprise) would have any more OEM disks for MCE 2005, how can I get this to work? Oh, and I checked the PC before I wiped it off and there was no recovery partition.

  • DELL XPS 710 - Windows XP MCE key does not work

    Hello!

I try to reinstall Win XP MCE on my DELL XPS 710.

I downloaded Win XP MCE 2005 CD of Microsoft MSDN Software Repository.

The license on my DELL XPS sticker is in a good shape, so I can read all characters.

But the routine installation of Windows me, says that the key is not valid.

Can you help with this question.

    Thank you.

    Tom

the XP license on your Dell computer is OEM and it's MSDN, retail. The keys are not interchangeable. You have need a version of XP MCE OEM or better yet a Dell XP MCE 2005 DVD of resettlement which will automatically be enabled in the Dell BIOS without entry of a product key.

  • E10: Update Rollup 1 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Win XP MCE 2005

    Hey all, yet another question.

    I'm on Qosmio E10 with MCE 2004.
When I go to "Windows Update" I see something called "Update Rollup 1 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Windows XP Media Center 2005" (KB888795) Edition "»
It is optional and install it I has yet because I'm not sure if I'm supposed to install at all since I'm on MCE 2004.

I read another thread on this forum saying that this update completely screwed the infrared receiver on some configurations.

So, question: Toshiba recommends installing this update for MCE 2005 on an MCE 2004 installation?

(I was surprised that it appears in Windows Update despite my MCE 2004..., perhaps a bug of Microsoft?)
    Later,.

    Alcahest

    Hello

My opinion is: don t touch a system running unless you are talking about an update to security... but MS recommends the update, so you can do the update, but it is at your own risk... as far as I know, Toshiba do support the software they offer with unit... not necessarily MS Update.
In this case, you can try to run the update. If something goes wrong, you can roll back the OS with Restore tool.

    Good bye

  • Reinstall Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 with Windows Vista Home Premium.  This laptop has his OS damaged somehow, of great utility and inefficient clean ups.  After that failure with another attmpted fixed, I plan to reinstall Windows.  I have the original restore disks (recovery CD HP QuickPlay application (c) 2005 and the small Manual HP QuickPlay April 2005.  In this manual, it is said: If you plan to reinstall your operating system, first read... Relocation of QuickPlay... [and]... Installation of QuickPlay will stop if you try and install io QuickPlay on a laptop not supported.

That means not supported (1) with expired warranty?  This means... (2) a different from this particular dv6000 laptop?  (3)... something else?

If not taken into (1) average load with an expired warranty, and what options are there to reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium on this computer?

Neither QuickPlay application restore CD or Application and Driver Recovery DVD are the disks necessary to reinstall Vista. Do you have another drive?

Alternatively, you can try to tap the F11 key immediately after switching on the laptop to try to boot in Recovery to make a factory reset.

    Original title: media library

I have a HP M7330 Media Center with a dead MB machine. Changed the MB & learned, too late, "Mo tattoo" as fact by HP & cannot use the recovery partition to reinstall. I'm looking for a way to get a copy of Windows Media Center 2005 french as I have a valid license key for a version of XP MC, this license does not work with my XP Pro drive & my better half - would like to get this machine in order for the moment.

Thanks for any help before the machine answers my sledgehammer.

    Hello

Windows XP Media Center is available for OEM only and if you don't have a motherboard the OEM valid, it will not activate.

The only option would be to get a newer version of Windows if your system supports or get an OEM motherboard (HP) that you can use the recovery on.

    Hi, bb4.

I have successfully run MCE2k5 with SP3 on multiple computers (including my old desk, which got a relocation prior to sale - and he works as a fully functional Media Center); but there is a big gotcha when it comes to do a clean installation of MCE2k5:
You can just install SP3.  There are a multitude of updates (both for Windows itself, as well as regards the Media Center) that must be installed before installing SP3.  Made out of use, it breaks the Media Center.

So, my question is the following:
At what point in the cycle of updating after installation you installed SP3?
If you wish, I can dig up my own installation guide MCE2k5/SP3 (that is tried, tested and works) and post for you.

    Kind regards
    Chris
