Reinstalling operating system inherited when the disk is broken

Hello

I have an old Mac Book Pro (mid-2009) running OSX Yosemite.

My ultimate goal is to reinstall Snow Leopard, so we can run Pro Tools on it.

I have an original installation disk for Snow Leopard.

However, construction in the drive on the MacBook Pro is grumpy and spit just any disk.

So I need to figure out how I can get around this.

Fortunately, I also have:

a MacBook Pro (retina, early 2013)

a USB superdrive

an IMac (end of 2015)

who could help?

I tried CD sharing, but the old Macbook did not show my other laptop as a device.

This allowed me to share the screen, so I could see the open Snow Leopard disc, but I'm lost here as to how to use it to reinstall from.

Especially in Yosemite, puts just a panel of white judgment by default by the installer.

This old macbook pro is not used for anything else at the moment, and all data is backed up elsewhere.

So install a cleaning / erasing etc is all viable.

Any advice much appreciated.

Why not just fix the Superdrive on the old Mac and use it? st - mac http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/02/use-the-macbook-air-superdrive-with-any-almo /

  • Re: Reinstalling operating system on Satellite A100 without deleting the other existing partition

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A100-912 and have not reinstalled the operating system (Windows XP) for several years, but now I think that my laptop works well below par. I have my product recovery CD (disk recovery) and it will use for the re-installation.

I have three partitions on the HARD disk (c, d and e, respectively).

I was wandering if it would be possible to reinstall (get as long as the factory) my operating system on the c partition without erasing the data (for example my files) on partitions d and e.

I did this on a Toshiba Satellite L10 using suggestions in this forum, but I don't know how to do it on my own. Is the user interface for the recovery/re-resettlement is not the same thing, so I'm afraid to lose my data if I proceed with the re-install without knowing what to do.

Could you please say on how to make the re-installation of operating system only on the c partition without deleting (data on) other existing partitions.

    Thank you!

    > I was wandering if it would be possible to reinstall (get as long as the factory) my operating system on the c partition without erasing the data (for example my files) on partitions d and e.

No, this is not possible. The recovery disk would format the whole HARD drive and therefore the partitions created on the HARD drive would be so removed.
I recommend you to create a backup of the files before starting the recovery procedure.

  • Install the operating system after replacing the corrupted hard drive Asus q500a

The hard drive on my Asus Q500a is bad (he had checked the repairman). They told me that I could replace it (it will just keep failing until at last it dies just) but I have to re - install the operating system. The laptop comes with Windows 7 and I upgraded to 8 when it came out (I think). I don't have a recovery disk.

How can I replace the corrupted hard drive and re-install the operating system?

If I need to buy Windows 8, where can I find?

Would it not easier that I left the repair shop handle it?

    Thank you in advance.

  • Updated probs after reinstalling Adobe Creative Suite of the disks

After doing a system restore, I had to reinstall Adobe Creative Suite of the disks, the next, a pop-up box asked me to put up-to-date, so they have downloaded, but then they failed to install. After you are looking for help on the Adobe Web site, the only thing I found was to update manually, for each program, but when I clicked on each program, that is to say photoshop and illustrator - there are about 50 updates for each, then how the hell will I know which ones I need and in what order? and why I spend the whole day, if not 2 by doing this?

At some point in the past (I don't know the exact date) Adobe "merged" the original update manager in cloud Update Manager, which means that you no longer use your original update manager

I read some of the messages that the last update (Cloud) sometimes does not work with old programs... Try to install your updates manually

Beginning of the updates here and product selection, read to see if you need to install updates in the order of the numbers, or if updates are cumulative for the product http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

  • Re: Can I repair the operating system without resetting the whole HARD drive?

I have a Toshiba Satellite M50, I ran an antivirus in safe mode scan today and must have accidentally deleted a file system because now I can not connect.
The computer will start but when I try to log in it connect, flash back, my office to the floor once and then connect again.
I can repair the operating system without resetting the entire hard drive and lose all my files?

And if not, is there someway to initiate a prompt BACK because I don't that the file is still in the recycling bin, and I might be able to restore it.

    Hello Bambi

Repair option with the recovery DVD (image recovery) is not available. Using recovery DVDs, you can install OS and have once again the factory settings.
As far as I know at the BACK level, you can start using BACK discus. You can create bootable CDs.

You can start your computer in Mode safe?

Communicate with the computer mftr. for replacement media. Legally, they must give you a way to reinstall Windows. XP MCE was available as an OEM ("Original Equipment Manufacturer") product and in addition to having a TechNet/MSDN subscription, I know of nowhere hand, you can download it legitimately. • What happens to the system folders, when the volume is dismounted?

    Hi all
I'm having trbl with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit on a laptop computer, which had its main drive partitioned into 3 different partitions: C for the OS, the D for my data and E for backup images.
Some of the 'system' (blue color), records such as: Documents, photos, downloads, etc have been moved from 'C' to 'd' too!

All 3 Partitions are NTFS volumes.   Partition "D" gives me wrong in what he tells me that he has problem with the master file table (MFT) and I shud run CHKDSK against it!  TRBL is then

I try to run it, it says:

CHKDSK D: /F cannot run because it is used by another process.  CHKDSK may run if this volume is dismounted first.  All handles to this volume would then be invalid.

You want to force a disassembly on this volume: Yes - No?

I took NOT because once again, when the disk has been partitioned, some of the 'system' (blue color), records such as: Documents, photos, downloads, etc have been moved from 'C' to

"D" and I fear that if I remove this volume it will remove or delete (if I reformat the partition), these files and I will not be able to use them more!
Also I don't really understand what it means to be "all the handles to this volume invalid?

I copied all my data on the partition "D" (for a portable HDD) and can run the chkdsk against her pgm or just reformat.  Can copy my data to him?
If I format, it will remove all the (blue) file system on it?   So how do they return to the "D" score for me to copy my data in?

Can you please help me in this case?

    Thanks a bunch!

    Sincerely, Cin

  • Is it possible to have the 64-Bit and 32-bit operating system installed on the same computer?

    * Original title: installation of window OS

    Hi all

In my system, it's already installed 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. I want to install 32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. Is it possible to have two operating system installed on the same computer? Can I do it?

    PL, guide me positively.

    Best regards

    Kapil Kumar.

The amount of RAM is okay as long as you have a minimum of 2 GB installed. Even if you have more than 4 GB, it would not matter, Windows 7 Home Premium just won't recognize it.

In respect with the both, you can set up a dual-boot configuration. Please note that you must have a unique product key to activate Windows 7 Home Premium.

See the instructions how to set up a partition:

    http://www.groovypost.com/HOWTO/dual-boot-Windows-10-other-versions-Windows/

References Windows 10, but the same instructions for Windows 7 also work.

Click Start, right-click computer, click on manage

    Click on disk management

Select the system partition in which Windows 10 is installed. Right-click, and then click on cut.

Enter the amount of space you want to allocate to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, then click on cut. The more, the better.

An unallocated partition will now be available. Right-click, and then click New Simple Volume

This will start the wizard new Simple Volume, which will allow you to format, assign a drive letter and volume label.

Once your partition is ready, you are now ready to install Windows 7

Boot from the Windows 7 Home Premium disc, then

    Click Custom (advanced option)

Select the partition we created earlier, and then click Next.

Wait for the copy of the Windows installation files.

I suggest that you run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage diagnostic tool in normal mode (not safe mode) and copy and paste the results into a response for further analysis:

Run the tool and when it ends, click the copy button, open a text such as Word or Notepad file and select Edit, paste. You can paste directly into an answer here. Open a response, right click and select Paste.

  • This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification.

I've seen other posts on this topic. Nothing seems to work, so I thought I would explain my situation.

The machine is new. Win7 64 bit company. The problem I see is that I try to load some versions of Visual Studio on the new machine. However, none of the discs auto-run using my local internal DVD drive. They all have a Readme file with the message "this disc contains a"UDF"file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346"UDF"file system specification."

I know that the discs are good, I used the on my old machine, and I can always use them on other machines I tested.

The real kicker here is that I can plug an external USB DVD drive... and then the local drive starts to read the installation discs! It's like making this action allows something else in the machine.

Also, I even restarted the machine mode of diagnosis (without external DVD drive attached)... and restart, the drive would read the installation discs. BUT when I do a full stop and then turn on the machine upward, the local drive gives me the same readme file. Again, it is as if something gets activated, and then reset to a complete stop.

I am at a loss of what to check then. Real head-scratcher, because I know the drive works and the machine can recognize the drive and even read installation discs.

I do not have the applications installed on the machine of DVD burning, so I don't think there is a conflict.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks in advance!

If time machine is incremental how it removes previous versions when the disk is full, without breaking the chain, so do not be able to restore the file with any changes made since the full backup first file...

If the TM drive storage is full TM automatically deletes the version the oldest files for the new incremental backups can be made. Thus, in this case you cannot restore the versions that TM deleted because it takes more storage.
