Relay DHCP WAG325N

Hello

What I have;

2601 ZyXEL router connected to the DSL line, wireless with DHCP activated

Linksys router connected to the Zyxel router through the LAN 1 port and 1. LAN port configured as WAN

Linksys router is able to get the IP address and the DNS server of the Zyxel router Info

Connect to the Linksys router with IP and static DNS = server works Internet access, LAN access is not

Connection to the router Linksys with Dynamic IP and DNS = no. IP/DNS addresses are assigned and so not Internet / LAN access.

So it seams the releay DHCP does not work?

Can someone help me with this? What I really want to do, is extend my Zyxel network with the Linksys router.

Thank you

If you configure the port 1 WAN port and connect port 1 to the Zyxel you use the WAG as a router. This means that there must be a separate LAN IP subnet on his side LAN.

You can configure the WAG with 192.168.2.1/255.255.255.0 IP LAN address. Customer LAN connected to the WAG need IP addresses * 192.168.2 to work.

The DHCP server on the Zyxel can do that. You can only use the function of relay in the WAG, if you have an advanced DHCP server who knows what IP addresses to assigned according to the source.

You must enable the DHCP server in your configuration.

It is probably best to put in place the WAG as a simple access point instead:

1. do not configure port 1 port WAN.
2. set the address LAN IP of the WAG on 192.168.1.2.
3. turn off the DHCP server on the WAG.
4. connect one of the WAG LAN ports to your Zyxel.

Now you have a local network and the WAG as access point.

  • SGE2000 relay DHCP problem

I'm looking for more help with DHCP relay on a switch SGE2000.

I have configured the two VLAN on the switch, (192.168.10.x/24) VLAN2 and VLAN3 (192.168.9.x/24). I have the Layer 3 switch. I configured the 192.168.10.4 DHCP and the DHCP Interfaces like VLAN3 relay server. All static IP Routes have been generated by the switch.

If I put a client computer on a port which is Untagged VLAN 3 and try to get a DHCP address from the server on a port that is not tagged VLAN 2 I never get a response.

I made a few captures package and here is what I found:

    1. I see the DHCP on the client computer
    2. I see the DHCP Request to the DHCP server from the IP shown in the switch to VLAN 3 (192.168.9.254)
    3. I see the server DHCP responds with a DHCP offer
    4. The DHCP offer never gets the client computer

I can't get a DHCP address to any system not on the same VLAN as the DHCP server. 82 option is disable, and tried him, that made no difference.

    Any help would be great.

    Thank you

    Phil

    Hi phil,.

Have you created a static route on the DHCP server that points to the network 192.168.9.0/24.

The entry door for this network, in the perspective of relay DHCP servers, is the IP address of the switch SGE2000 VLAN2.

I think that if you tried to ping to the IP address of the switch VLAN3 with the DHCP server now, you will not get a response.

When you create a static route to be persistent in the DHCP server, you should then be able to address IP VLAN3 ping of the switch.

    Best regards, Dave

  • Using to relay DHCP on LAN remote IPSec VPN WRVS4400N

    Hello

I have a WRVS4400N. I want to know if it is possible to configure the remote relay DHCP WRVS4400N to find a DHCP server on the local network. The local network is 192.168.2.0/24, and the Remote LAN is 192.168.1.0/24. I am entered the field of relay DHCP server 192.168.1.100 but my local PC does not get an IP address. So, I would like to than the local PC to get an IP from DHCP address 192.168.2.x server remote (LAN) through the IPSec VPN tunnel. Is this possible?

The IPSec tunnel works. I ping the 192.168.1.100 remote DHCP server, if the local PC, a static IP address 192.168.2.x I have the configuration of the DHCP server with an IP of 192.168.2.x/24 range.

The remote VPN router is a Netgear FVS114.

    Thank you

    NIC

The wrvs4400n, you cannot do the dhcp relay in the vpn tunnel.  You may need to get a business for which solution or a connection point to point for both networks on the same local network configuration.

  • Relay DHCP over VPN

    Hi guys,.
I have a problem with the implementation of DHCP relay mode on my VPN.
The VPN works fine and I can access the remote router, printers, no etc. via their internal IP (192.168.0.xxx) no problem. My setup is as follows.

A SRX5308 based in the United Kingdom with DHCP activated using ip/subnet addresses varies 192.168.0.50 - 192.168.0.100/255.255.255.0. The router has an ip address 192.168.0.1 and a reserved/static parameters of 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.40.

A SRXN3205 based in France with initial settings of DHCP enabled using ip/subnet addresses varies 192.168.10.2 - 192.168.10.20/255.255.255.0. The router has 192.168.10.1 IP address.

The VPN is set up through 2 COMPLETE domain name addresses using th VPN wizzard ends in order to define the policies and works fine without errors or school drop-outs.

The problem of the french side. When I enable DHCP relay mode in the SRXN3205 it starts ok but do not relay the IP addresses of the United Kingdom.

    Any ideas?

Just be aware that it is not really a good idea to run DHCP via a VPN, as if for some reason any VPN breaks down, computers on the remote site will not be able to get an IP address & the entire network it could enter the crisis...

Personally, I use DHCP on the site with the server and I use static, remote sites. I could probably use a local DHCP server on each site, but for the number of computers involved, using static has been easier.

  • Relay DHCP VPN site-to-site

I am trying to configure DHCP relay by VPN, I've read various articles, but I can't understand it:

    Internal IP address: 192.168.2.1
    External IP address: 192.168.1.2

There is a working ipsec site to site vpn between site1 and 2.

    Allow 192.168.200.21 (added) 192.168.2.1

What NAT entries should I use on the SAA and 877?

    This configuration will still work?

    Greetings Henk

    Hello Henk,

First of all, Yes, it should work. I have seen work before and you have configured this way.

Looks like you manage to solve the trickiest part, which is the definition of interesting traffic. It must include the ASA outside IP address and the address of the DHCP server as one ITS (Security Association) at both ends, and the description, you provided it seems that interesting traffic is already set up like that.

On the side of the router, you will need to add a rule of NAT-Exemption of the DHCP address IP address external to ASA. It should be something like this:

    deny ip host 192.168.200.21 192.168.1.2

Finally, the 'set road' command is used to change the default gateway sent from the DHCP server. Basically, if you set the 'road together' ASA will override default gateway sent by the DHCP server by its IP address of the interface inside. If you want that to happen then turn it on.

Let me know if you have any doubts.

  • VPN 3020 - relay DHCP and reservations

    Hi all

I have a VPN concentrator 3020 in my structure and I am setting up allocation of an IP address by an external DHCP server.

There is no problem in that: the client authenticates and then receives its IP address...

the problem is that I need to configure a reservation on the DHCP server... the question is: which is the mac address, use the booking?

I saw on the server the mac address of the dhcp request is something like this 0003a08a5308020e7f28f4e9a82000, which is the mac address of the external interface of the vpn concentrator, as well as many other characters, which does not seem to be related to the client or any other part of the network and change each time we connect...

I think that I can not assign the static IP address on the hub, or GBA, because users authenticate to the VPN through MS Active Directory hub, so that they do not really exist on these devices...

Anyone know how I can do this job?

    Thank you very much

    Marco

You can do that with the ip address of the DHCP server.

You can configure the LDAP server to assign the individual ip address depending on whether the user authenticates to the access customer vpn.

You must configure the LDAP server for permission in the VPN concentrator, but also to enable 'Use authentication server address' for the assignment of an ip address.

  • Help with DHCP relay

I inherited a network with a dhcp/DC with two network cards, 1 for the data network and the other for the vlan voice.

I know this is an unsupported configuration, and I want to get rid of the adapter for the vlan voice. I have to make sure that dhcp is working on the vlan voice.

Network is made up of a stack of PowerConnect 70xx switces.

My question is what must be configured on the stack. There are so many options... IP helper, relay DHCP, ect...

If the switch is in mode Layer 2, then use l2relay DHCP commands. If it is in Layer 3 mode, then you use the controls to support IP. If in layer 3 mode make sure VLANS routing is turned on.

  • WRVS4400Nv2 DHCP Relay on 2nd VLAN

    Hello

Here's what I'm trying to understand:

My network is set up such that I have a wireless network in the VLAN 1, which is the main network we use.  The subnet is 10.5.1.x.

My goal is to set up a wireless network completely isolated comments, but it would work better.  What I'm trying to do now, is that I created a VLAN separated (VLAN 2, ranging 10.5.2.x IP) and activated DHCP on the WRVS4400N.  However, in comments network, he is always picking up a 10.5.1.x IP which will be distributed by the server DHCP (10.5.1.5, Win 2003) and yet all traffic to our private network routing.

    Here's what I put:

Wireless > security settings > network (SSID 2) comments

    • Wireless Isolation (between w/o SSID VLAN): enabled
    • Insulation (within SSID) wireless: enabled

    Setup > LAN > VLAN 1

    • Router IP 10.5.1.1, CAMERA IP WiFi 10.5.1.3
    • DHCP relay for 10.5.1.5

    Setup > LAN > VLAN 2

    • 10.5.2.1 IP router
    • DHCP enabled for the subnet 10.5.2.x
    • Relay DHCP option is grayed out (don't know why)

    Setup > Advanced Routing

    • Routing inter - VLAN: disabled

A way to solve this problem would be nice.  I don't want traffic through our internal network.  Ideally, if I get Windows server to distribute addresses of 10.5.2.x, it would be perfect, but I do not know how to configure it for such.

If anyone has any ideas, that would be great-thanks!

    Matt

Yes... Here is an answer I got Cisco engineering support:

The issue you reported is a known problem.
Engineering and development are aware of this problem and provided the following information:

    DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM:
If the WRVS4400N is configured with multiple VLANs, and these VLANs are mapped to different SSIDS, the user cannot use an external DHCP server to provide IP scopes for these VLANS.
Hosts connected to two SSID will get the native DHCP server IP address only.
The workaround for this is to use the DHCP server integrated for all the VLANS defined on the WRVS4400N.

Note: This is not a bug but rather a limitation of product. The developer confirmed that the WRVS4400N works as expected.

    A difficulty regarding:
Because of the wireless switch port and the trunk by using different chipset, it is not possible to provide a fix for this problem.
In the future, engineering & product Dev teams will try to use the same chip set (same provider).
This feature has been targeted for the next new product.  No solution will be on the current hardware.

Note: If this function is vital for your deployment and you want to recover the cost of the WRVS4400N, please send the serial number and a copy of your proof of purchase and we will gladly provide a refund.

  • SGE2010 - traffic relay and DHCP configuration

    Hei

We bought just a switch SGE2010 we want to use to replace the switches in the control panel of our office. So far I managed to access the switch and assigned a static ip.adress on our net, but I can't get to our entry point switch relay traffic. I have a test machine that is configured with a static IP as well and tried the ok sign, but as soon as I put the switch between traffic is not relayed.

The idea was to use this switch as a DHCP as well. But I thought it would be a start to get at least the traffic relayed before starting the dhcp part.

Only configuration settings I have done factory settings are the following: (note that the IP is slightly adjusted, but consistent for reasons of confidentiality)

    Configuration of the IP4

    1. Assigned to a static ip address: 95.59.69.148
    2. Assigned a subpattern: 255.255.255.192
    3. Assigned to a user-defined gateway: 95.59.69.129

    DNS configuration

    1. Assigned to an ip address dns address: active 95.59.0.100
    2. Assigned to a dns ip address: 95.59.0.200

All these settings are the default settings that we use when we assign a server with a static ip address, so it is not a pick up of our filtration dhcp server. So my main question is why on earth isn't it relay traffic?

In addition, we are interested to kill the former (with stones, I hope) dhcp server and dhcp on the sge2010 configuration. The current dhcp is an operating system. X dhcp server (Yes a mac) with the following configuration:

    • (Dynamic ip) subnet
      From ip: 95.59.69.179
      Ending ip: 95.59.69.190
      Subnet: 255.255.255.192
    • Router ip: 95.59.69.129
      Rental time: 3 hours
    • The range 95.59.69.130 to 95.59.69.149 we set up manually on the servers, hardware, etc.
    • DNS server: 95.59.0.100 & 95.59.0.200
Default search domain: No. - dns - available.example.com
    • And then we have a group of static mappings to Mac-addresses
      ip address: 95.59.69.150
      IP: 95.59.69.178

I tried to see in the configuration where I could the mappings static spesify range etc, but I can't say it got me anywhere. So my second question is how to install a server dhcp of Eric as a designated above?

It's nice to finally convince the CEO to move the dhcp to a better metal, but it's not as nice having a hard time setting up. I would apprecitate every possible leeds and suggestions since I'm kinda stuck.

    Thanks in advance

    Rafn.R

    Hello

My SGE2000P forwards DHCP requests on my DHCP server.

I used my default VLAN1 as an interface routed to unicast request DHCP relay on my server (router ISR UC520) that resides on that VLAN 1.

My interface Vlan 1 on my SGE2000P has an IP 192.168.10.254.

My gateway address for potential hosts in VLAN 2 IP will be the ADDRESS IP I AI ASSIGNES to VLAN 2, because the PC or the IP hosts connected to VLAN2 will use IP VLAN2 interface as the gateway. It's just how it works!

Hosts of PC on VLAN 2 need of a default route and they use the IP I assigned to VLAN2 as their next jump out VLAN2 on the real world.

This address can be seen below.

DHCP relay is enabled with the option 82

I chose VLAN2 as an interface VLAN, as shown below.

I have two ports not signposted in the VLAN2, and I joined an IP host to G1 so that I can test the DHCP relay.

I get the following debug output from my dhcp server, so I know the relay is working.

002624: 19:40:08.575 Dec 5: DHCPD: looking for expiry of the leases.

002625: 19:40:58.408 Dec 5: DHCPD: DISCOVER notification to:

    002626: 19:40:58.408 Dec 5: DHCPD: htype 1 CHADRR 0025.84d8.d008

    002627: 19:40:58.408 Dec 5: DHCPD: id remote 020a0000c0a80a0101080001

    002628: 19:40:58.408 Dec 5: DHCPD: id circuit 00000000

002629: 19:40:58.408 Dec 5: DHCPD: see if there is a specified internal pool class:

But I must confess that I have opened a case on it with the Small Business Support Center, because I think I can see something wrong on my DHCP server debugging.

But the key is that I see the router WAN/DHCP server, see the query from DHCP.

The only way to the broadcast DHCP requests can get to the DHCP server, if the switch SGE2000P takes these DHCP broadcast requests and unicast these or relay to my server DHCP IP address 192.168.10.1.

So in other words he tries to relay DHCP.

I would ask you to please check the SGE2010 Administrator's guide because it clearly shows how to configure the DHCP on the SGE2010 relay.

Even if the screen capture shows and the old version of the code below.  I have day my SGE2000P tonight at the generally available (GA) version of the code.

Just outa interest, if you telnet to the switch, is your mode of layer 3 or Layer 2 switch.

I can also say from your screenshot that your uplink ports are in overlay mode.

Maybe if you don't use stacking, you can set your switch to the layer 3 mode and standalone mode

    Best regards, Dave

  • Address of 5300 dhcp support

Try to take an existing dish network and create virtual local networks to improve performance.

I have to admit that I'm inexperienced in this, but I saw a similar montage using Cisco switching.

My plan was to create a VLAN for each IDF reduce broadcast traffic.

We run a Windows Server DHCP 2012r2 and I added an additional field for the test that I am hoping to create VLANs.

I have not found a method to relay dhcp on the server request.

I hope that it is a simple task and one of you can slap me with a link to the documentation I should read.

    Hello

I have set up an ipsec tunnel between rv180 (site A) and asa5520 (site B) successful. The dhcp server to clients is on the B site. The dhcp clients request going through the tunnel, they leave the rv180 on the wan interface and arrive at site B with the wan-ipaddress from site A. The configured dhcp-relay on the website match the remote network (site B), configured in the on site A ipsec tunnel. Is there anyway that all traffic pass through the ipsec tunnel? • Proxy DHCP does not

I have two WLC 4402 interview several SSID. Each SSID is a VLAN different with a different IP subnet.

Now, I want to use a single server DHCP for the SSID. So I set up the server (I code applications for different networking option 82), put him in the VIRTUAL LAN where the PA-manager and resident on and configured management interfaces address of the interfaces on the WLC DHCP server suitable for the new configuration.

Now my problem: no request arrives at the server level. Now, I tried almost all the options, but without success.

I discovered that the relay works if the DHCP server is on the SAME subnet. Then all queries are relayed (Yes, relayed, monodiffusees by the controller).

Debugging DHCP from the WLC says:

Op DHCP received BOOTREQUEST (1) (len 313, port 1, encap 0xec03)

1 - relay DHCP selection control block parameters: dhcpServer: 10.22.72.3, dhcpNetmask: 255.255.248.0, dhcpGateway: 10.22.72.33, dhcpRelay: 10.22.72.1 VLAN: 22

    DHCP selected relay 1 - 10.22.72.3 (address local 10.22.72.1, gateway 10.22.72.3, VLAN 22, port 1)

    DHCP forwarding DHCP REQUEST (3)

    ...

So now I enter the address of the DHCP server on the new server (accessible directly but the ap amanager and management of interfaces) I get the following:

Op DHCP received BOOTREQUEST (1) (len 308, port 1, encap 0xec03)

1 - relay DHCP selection control block parameters: dhcpServer: 0.0.0.0, dhcpNetmask: 0.0.0.0, dhcpGateway: 0.0.0.0, dhcpRelay: 10.6.72.1 VLAN: 640

    1 DHCP relay selected NONE

It just seems to ignore the address of the registered DHCP server.

I tried several versions of the software (v4.2, v5.2), anyway.

Proxy DHCP is turned on - as mentioned, if the DHCP server is on the same subnet, it works fine.

    Any suggestions?

OK, so the DHCP server doesn't have an entry door, so may not respond to a request on another network. That's the problem. With this config you would never get DHCP works, that you saw.

Not the WLC will not send the DHCP request for x vlan on y vlan... DHCP must be accessible...

  • DHCP Option 82 SG300, decipher the bytes circuitid

    Hey guys,.

I can't know the meaning of the bytes in Option82 that send SG300 of Cisco switches. The switch is in mode of l3, and I relay dhcp installation and works very well.

By looking at the packet capture, the switch always send this is the MAC address as optional 82 remote-id:

Suboption option 82: (2) Agent remote ID

    Length: 8

    Remote agent ID: 000634bdc8xxxxxx

34:BD:C8 is a YES registered to Cisco Systems.

I can't decipher the circuitid. The last bytes of couple have something to do with the port:

    Port 1:

    0131 0004007d

    Port 2:

    0004007d 0132

    Port 3

    Port 4

    Port 49:

    0004007d 0161

    Port 50:

    0162 0004007d

But what makes me scratch my head is really byte would be ' after the 0004007, call it the mystery figure. This system of byte to have a meaning related to the type of device connected immediately. When I connected to a computer, there's a ' he. When I connect an aastra phone, I get a '8'. When I connect a Ubiquiti networks AP, I got a '7'.

I can't understand the numbering for the ports scheme or the meaning of the mystery figure. Any help is appreciated!

Hi Jonathan sub option 2, your example D is the identifier of the node.

Seeing the variable by type of connection, I give it a safe assumption that it is wordy padding type void 1.

The detailed format for package cushion should contain

    Sub option

    length

    node identifier

    port type

    Number of the interface

    ID of the VLAN

For the format of normal buffer it should contain

    Sub option

    length

    circuit

    length

    ID of the VLAN

    Number of the interface

What is on the rise / decline of gyration of the DHCP Proxy of the WLC setting?  I know the option is there now, but it always by default the proxy mode, so what's the question?  I ask, because I could make an issue of a wlan comments becomes a dhcp server much easier, if requested by the customer. Then I can relay dhcp off a pix and my company dhcp/dns server. But I'm worried what effect it may have on my other local wireless networks.

Proxy DHCP is required if the WLC is the dhcp server, if you disable it don't forget to add the ip helper address to your L3 interfaces.

The part of the config is a relic of a time Airespace who helped the WLC learn the customers ip access. This problem has been fixed, updated in subsequent versions of the code. So the proxy or the proxy is really up to if the WLC is dhcp or not. Unless yopu run 6.0.196.0 or 7.0.980. Where you could hit CSCth68708

  • N2024P configuration MS Lync 2013

We need to configure a few Dell N2024P for Lync VoIP switches, in addition to the QoS DSCP global configuration you aware Lync needs to divide the network into two VLANs or is not necessary and prioritize traffic via DSCP is sufficient for the voice quality?

    Here's the current scenario:

The Lync server is hosted by an outside vendor cloud/VoIP, we connect customers through Lync 2013 autodiscovery without any problems, the majority of IP phones is CX600 for MS Lync and the rest are phones USB CX300 or MS LifeChat headsets 4000 USB.

Each seat having Ethernet that a slope, the CX600 GB is connected to the local network and the computer to the phone. In all other cases the computer is connected to the local network.

Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

The server DHCP will need a scope up for 10 VLANS. And the switch will have to relay DHCP of the VLAN 10 queries to the VLAN as the DHCP server is on.

Here is some info on the establishment of several bodies in 2003.
