Relocation of a professional Windows 7 home upgrade

When I built my PC 2 years ago, I installed Windows 7 Home Premium only to find out, I needed the improved version for her professional to access the additional RAM

I upgraded to professional online.

My HD crashed and so I now need to reinstall everything, and I can't find the product key (I don't remember if I gave one or the other) for the upgrade.  I can get Home 7 Premium on the new drive, but how do I get the key to the new upgrade of my new drive.

Thank you-

I have a computer on which Windows Me had initially on this, but I later updated to Windows XP Home Edition. Now the computer's hard drive is wiped and I am trying to reinstall the Windows XP Home Edition, but I don't have an original Windows Me disk. I called Dell and they said that they cannot help me because they have more than the available software and that they included with they system. I have all the disks that came with my system, and this isn't one of them. I would like to reinstall Windows XP but it won't let me spend the elibibilty upgrade check without year ME disc. I have the sticker of the product key on the side of my computer, but not the disk. Does anyone know how to make this work? Thank you.

The only way to make this work is to provide a CD of an older operating system the installation of XP asks you to put the qualifying media. It doesn't have to be your missing drive; It can be a friend ME disc or even one for Win98. If anyone you know has a Win98 / ME disc you can borrow, you can take the device to a local computer professional for the installation (not for free of course) or buy a full version (not upgrade) of XP. • Windows 7 home upgrade to windows 7 pro says that's not available?

I can't use my anytime upgrade windows 7 home to windows 7 pro, I said that's not available.

What can I do to upgrade to windows pro

Microsoft sales ended for Anytime Upgrade and licensing of retail in October 2013. Otherwise, your only way to upgrade is by purchasing the retail full version or upgrade Windows 7 Professional license and use it with the wizard upgrade Express Windows 7 home Basique/Familiale Premium. I just checked amazon.com and all the licenses that I see are copies OEM System Builder:

    http://www.Amazon.com/Microsoft-Windows-7-8-software/b?ie=UTF8&node=1286119011

This means the boxed retail copies request a bonus, while the OEM System Builder copies remain affordable.

    Full version (retail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.

-Does not require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.

    -Expensive

    Upgrade version (detail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.

-require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.

-Expensive, but less expensive full version

    OEM System Builder version:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

There is nothing wrong to use it too, especially that all future versions of Windows will be full versions.

If you can get a copy of a retail license, you can do the following:

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

Please note that the Express upgrade does not support OEM, MSDN-Academic, Volume (the student faculty licenses) license. If you are in possession of all these brackets, you will need to save and do a custom clean install. If you want to do it, please backup your Windows 7 Home Premium or according to edition currently installed. Some licenses for Windows distributed to tertiary level students are not perpetual, which means that you cannot continue to use the software after a course or graduating.

  • Windows 7 Home upgrade Vista Home Premium installation

After you run the compatibility test, I bought a new Windows 7 Home Premium, disabled all viruses or other programs of security and attempted to start the installation.  The initial 'investigation' indicates the presence of "PerfectDisk" which he said I had to uninstall before upgrade installation can begin.  However, I don't have this program on my computer, or anything related to defrag some defrag program that accompanies the computer HP G60 - I can't identify or remove if I wanted to.  I don't know yet how to disable (only can adjust daily/weekly/monthly sync settings, etc.) and do not know what is the name of the program.  All other programs seem to agree for installation to occur.  Is there a way around this problem, as the software will not attempt to load/upgrade as long as this "Perfect Disk" program is visible during the early investigation.

    Ideas or suggestions?

Look under C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x 86) If you are running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista for all records related to the Raxco PerfectDisk, then delete.

    Andre Da Costa.

Thanks for your very useful suggestions and stick with me on this issue.  I think it has now been resolved.  I saw another post about problems after installing Windows 7 as an upgrade to Vista and read setting up installation PerfectDisk maybe stay in Program files, after that the program is uninstalled.  So, I went to Program files and seen everyone without finding any PerfectDisk anywhere.  However, several years ago, I used PCMover and when I clicked on this program, three files Raxco were still present.  I have now deleted them and will continue the installation of Windows 7 now - that is why, one of these files must have included remnants of PerfectDisk or an earlier version of a defragmentation program.

So, let's see how the upgrade installation is progressing, but at least it is moved in front of the roadblock. »

This will exempt things as the relocation of the base license, reactivation, redo the Express upgrade, then turn it back on again.

    Hey mate,

You can use the Windows Anytime Upgrade program, that s no problem and it makes no difference if you use this tool or a full version of Windows 7 Professional. The result is always the same => an upgrade to Home Premium to professional.

Theoretically, you can make a completely new installation if you buy a copy of Windows 7 Professional, but I n t see a reason for this. An upgrade also works.

But the question is: do you need the features they are provided with the professional version?
