Remote backup

I lost my phone. Is it possible by logging into my account on my laptop icloud to force a backup so I can get my pictures etc.

No, it isn't. This is only possible on the camera itself.

I am setting up data recovery, and I want to have a central backup server for all my data centers. Data recovery is set up, based on my options, I can only do backups/restorations with protocols the like SMB, iSCSI and vmdk disks. Is it possible to make backups remotely secure virtual machines with data recovery?

Remote backups are possible but the bandwidth to the remote location will be the factor limiting. You might want to look at something else that vDR.Veeam is able to replicate to remote locations.

With regard to the storage protocols do not forget NFS. vDR can use NFS as destination for NFS can be used for a data store.

  • Time Machine backups remotely

Hello everyone, I currently have Time Machine configured to back up my MacBook Pro on my USB 3 drive which is connected to my iMac. This works very well when the two Macs are on the same WiFi network, however, when I'm in college and trying to back up my MacBook Pro, he tells me that the disc is not found (makes sense, since Macs are no longer on the same network). I thought to buy OS X Server, and that installation on the iMac, however, I don't know if I'll be able to backup on it from a remote location. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thank you very much in advance!

Yes, it is possible to make remote backups with Time Machine Server.

You need a VPN as Pertino or the VPN itself for this server.

  • a backup iPhoto problem

Well, I'll give up iPhoto soon, but we come a long way and I used it a lot this past year. So before making big summer travel, I want to make a copy of remote backup of photos from last year, and that's the problem.

Usually what I would do is to save the entire library to Macintosh HD > users > (me) > photos > iPhoto library, but things are not good. The last time I did a copy it was about 20 GB, but now when I hit iPhoto Library / I to get info, I am told that the content is 2.2 MB which should be something else. Photos from last year all are in iPhoto to see and access, so what happens?

    Help, please... Strong

You see all your photos in iPhoto, when you launch?

Then, check if your iPhoto library has been moved to a different folder.

CTRL + click or right-click on the word of iPhoto in the title bar of the iPhoto window.  It will show you a drop-down list with the wrapping of your current iPhoto library folder.

Click the folder enclosing in the drop-down list to open it in the Finder.  Now use ⌘I to check the size of the library. Is it different?

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry Curve Backup.

    Hello

I usually save my curve via a USB lead plug in my phone and my computer.

Earlier this afternoon I have "backed up somewhere else." -web!

I don't know where this backup has gone and I now need to get this particular backup...

How can I access this backup?

    Hi Lyner47

I am happy that you also use BlackBerry Protect for backups and I hope that you can also use it in the next few days.

BlackBerry Protect offers Remote backup and restore options, you can not open these files from backup, but you can restore these backup at any time to your BlackBerry.

  • How to integrate the catalog PSE in automated backup?

Hi, I'm going to set up a backup process automated for my computer to a remote ftp site. Including my pictures are simple, but I don't know how the PSE catalog could be reliably. The help of someone who understands how this work would be greatly appreciated.

One way that could work, even if it requires manual steps is backup in PSE. After the backups from PSE, I would include the PSE-backup files in the automated backup. The obvious disadvantages are that I have to:

    -do it manually in PSE

-keep the files backup-PES locally, as an interim step in the procedure, pending automated backup to ftp site.

I am considering the solution below, that would be more interesting if it works:

    1. instead of keep the catalog in the default location, I offer the catalog ('my photos') in my "D:\Data\PSE9" as a location directory in the file-> catalog dialog box. I guess I have to do this from within the PES.

    2. the "C:\Data" directory (where all the images and the catalog is now located) is backup place automatically at the remote ftp location.

Now, let's say I have my hard drive fails and all the data is lost. So I re - install windows & PSE. How would then restore the catalog and the files? This procedure might work?

    3. from the remote backup, I restore all the files in the directory "C:\Data", including photos and the catalog folder "D:\Data\PSE9".

    4. now comes the tricky part. I assumed that I would go into file-> catalog and select custom location, set the location custom to "D:\Data\PSE9".

    5. I then would see the 'My photos' catalogue in the custom location, just as it was before the accident?

    6. then I guess that I just opened the catalogue 'My photos' and everything is back to the way in which this is the last backup time.

This procedure would work and actually produce a reliable backup that can be restored without any problem? A caveat which I foresee is that I would have PSE closed when the backup is actually running, so that I get the file list in the middle of some update or changes. But I can live with.

Thanks for any help and suggestions on this.

To put it simply, I guess that your backup already deals with all types of photos and media in your catalog.

Do not forget to backup included in the Organizer treats these files as the catalog itself (the database).

Where the catalogue? Consult the menu help/information system. You will find the location of the folder that contains the catalog. This folder contains several files and subfolders. Just include the folder and its subfolders in your current backup.

  • Portege M400 - how to remove the condensation of water?

I received a second hand toshiba portege m400 mail and saw there probably a condensation of water trapped between the external display and touch screen behind her. because the screen in the upper left corner looks whitish. and the sender of the laptop said he wasn't there when he sent it. I have a picture of trapped moisture, for those who want to see it.

so, I opened the screen by unscrewing. and I saw that most of the moisture is stuck between the external screen glas and one other layer behind him, which I guess, is the part of the touch screen. who looks inaccessible. These 2? the layers form the upperpart of the screen.

the lcdscreen with all the electronics in this layer, form the lower part of the screen or if you want, cover. This part is now oke. He also had a condensation of water on it and I was able to gently wipe the little moisture of the lcdscreen without problem. This helped a bit with this problem.

but moisture remains trapped between the part of the touchscreen layer and this layer of glass in the upperpart of the screen/cover.

hoping to evaporate the moisture, I left the enlightened a bit more open for a day, I broke even the upperpart and the lowerpart of the screen. I applied a little of an infrared lamp, a remote backup heat. anything that did not help.

    * so, how can I remove the condensation of water? *

    * is there a way to remove a layer in the upperpart of the screen to reach the humidity? *

    Hello olekike

Please don t get me wrong, but I'm afraid, you need professional with this Mr. help as I see that your question is not answered for days now, and I think that nobody here has a lot of experience with this stuff.

  • Windows 2003 FRS is horribly wrong.

I have a number of these installed and operating in the field.
And, until now, has been a great backup strategy multisite on low-bandwidth links.
I got some of them running for years without problem.

Today I had a bad go.
A "routine check" during an overdraft of site replication has been down for about 4 months.
I ran out of staging space (so I increased the it) and at the same time, I moved the staging on another drive.
2 hours later, I got frantic reports of files & folders "disappear" on the MAIN server.
It is true, about 45 GB of data was simple DISAPPEARED.
I did a reboot of the server in the evening and then was missing about 10 GB more.
I have a large share, and most had disappeared.

I also noticed that my new drive, frs staging folder is located at about 55 GB in size, I guess it's sort of where all the missing files are gone.

    Sadness.
My only backup is the remote backup site which is... 4 months...
So miss me him now all my data from the last 4 months.
It is a terrible mess and I deserve to get lax on manual backups :-(

Just having good luck with the RFS mirrors and got comfortable relying on them to work over the past 5 years.
In addition to this, I'm not * normally * one who executes and monitors manual backups / more frequent.

Anyway, I finished by Disable FRS entirely and end up with the FRS staging folder as my only hope of ever no data to return.

I already know what I did wrong and do not want to hear that I should update to a new product of best, I'm already aware of these things.

I am looking for all possible assistance or any information leading to help free or paid to actually retrieve files from the location of FRS-scaffolding.
And has already exhausted my obvious options and places seem to be including paid Microsoft support...
MS simply didn't want to deal with, or that they wanted to support WIndows 2003.
After two hours of literally to search my system...  They made less test and gathered much less information that I already had on my own.
They're refund my credit card for 2 hours of paid support I have nowhere.
I could tell that the tech was not at all well versed in FRS or DFS systems.

  • My Book 3.0 (1 TB, USB 3.0) detection with envy Phoenix 810-135qe problem

I have a My Book 3.0 (1 TB, USB 3.0)... The older My Book not the newest one... "My Book Essential" or something like that.

I used it with W7 x 64 backup utility on an older office of the HP (HP Pavilion a6560t) without problem until my new HP Envy 810-135qe happened. I downloaded the latest drivers from WD support and the PnPed thing very well off the non powered USB 3.0 at the rear of the 810. However, the 810 gives up the connection after sleep, hibernation, lock, or simply over time. I ran diagnostics on the WD and cables, all the beautiful removed. I tried cutting power saving s 3.0 to USB in device (just a guess) Manager, and that seemed to work for a few weeks, but I still have the problem of detection from time to time. All my drivers are up to date on the HP circuit. I completely reformat the WD now to see if that would solve the question somehow (I'll update in the next few days on how that worked).

Someone has an idea what is wrong? I suspect something with the BIOS. HP chat support has been no help (they go through the same checks that I've done myself) and they got really scary on another cat when I asked about adding an SSD as boot drive (I knew it was a problem of here and other forums)... Set myself to second level support, and all what they told me it is that they could not tell me something... Basically, not support for a config except for how they were shipped because it's a "customized" version (Yes, time to chagrin of the buyer).

Second, anyone running a similar config with a remote backup that works well? My WD is getting old so I thought one of the more recent portable USB 3.0 hard drives (2.5-3.5). My features to follow.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BBM sends do not!

    Hi guys,.

Has got 2 problems to be honest, so I'll start with the most important! Lately, my BBM was not send or receive messages when connected to the internet! It does on wifi and internet from Vodafone UK. It does now while I'm typing this on my "BOLD", which shows it is not that I am not connected to the internet because I am able to load a Web page and use internet requiring apps for example Facebook, MSN and twitter. Whenever I try to send a message, it comes up with the red square with a clock in it and does not send. Also, I don't get any messages, I can see the other person has read because he has this small r above the tick and says is written message, but no message is reflected. The only way to send or receive is to do a full battery, which becomes very annoying pull! Or to make a call :/ is there a solution? I'll add a comment the other problem once this has been resolved! Thank you

    Carrier: Vodafone UK
    Software: 5.0.0.86 2

You have the latest version of BBM.

You can backup your BBM contacts. Follow these steps-

    1. go to BBM
    2. Press Menu select Options
    3. Scroll down to backup management
    4. Save a backup of your contact: press the Save button
    5. Choose backup to remote or local files (remote backups are done by e-mail and local backup is done on memory card)
    6. Local press
    7. check automatically save changes to contact
    8. Back up now
  • Bb lost blackBerry smartphones

    Hello

may I ask, how can I find my bb lost without blackberry Protect? /

    Thank you

    Hi mollyarsyad

    Welcome to the community

It depends if you had already installed a tracking app on your device, but it depends also factors as unit must be plugged into the sim card must be here and not deleted SIM card was not blocked by the provider of wireless. But if a thief is smart is smart enough and remove your SIM card or turn off your device, then it is not found.

I think BlackBerry protect more remote data backup, then for tracking.it gives a chance to restore our remote backup.

  • First 2.1 to 2.2

    Hi guys,.

I would like to know if I can back up my database/configuration Cisco first 2.1 and migrate to Cisco first 2.2

I'm looking to go from 2.1 to 2.2 without Starter everywhere...

    Thanks guys...

    Hello

upgrade to 2.2 IP. not online, that means, it must be a new installation scratch on which you can restore the backup IP 2.1

If you are upgrading from previous versions of the Core Infrastructure

This version of the first Infrastructure does not offer an upgrade on site. To upgrade to the latest version, you must instead install this version of the Infrastructure of the first form of appliance virtual on a fresh server, or order it is pre-installed on a physical device soft. You can then migrate your data from your old installation of the Infrastructure from the first to the new, using a backup of previous installation application.

If you currently use one of the following versions of the first Infrastructure, you can back up your existing data and then restore the data to another server running first Infrastructure 2.2:

    • Cisco first 2.1.2 (with patch UBF) infrastructure
    • Cisco first 2.1.1 (with patch UBF) infrastructure
    • First Cisco 2.1.0.0.87 infrastructure
    • Cisco Infrastructure first, 1.4.2
    • Cisco first Infrastructure 1.4.1
    • First Cisco 1.4.0.45 infrastructure

If you are using a version prior to 1.4.0.45 or 2.1.0.0.87, you will need to upgrade your server to version 2.1.0.0.87 (or 1.4.0.45) before you perform the backup.

If you run multiple versions of Infrastructure first where you want to migrate the data, see If you're running first Infrastructure Multiple Versions.

Don't forget that the backups can be restored to a new Infrastructure of first server that is the same size or larger than your previous server. See The Option of Installation Mode FIPS.

To back up your data to a previous version of Prime infrastructure support, follow these steps:

Step 1 if you don't the have already done: set up a remote backup repository for Infrastructure of first version you are running. For more information, see backup remote help repositories of the first Infrastructure 2.2 Cisco Administration Guide.

Step 2 take a backup of the version of the first Infrastructure application you are running and store the backup in the remote repository. For more information, see taking Application backupsin the administrator first Cisco Infrastructure 2.2 Guide.

Step 3 check the integrity of the backup, as explained in the validation of your backup.

Cisco first Infrastructure 2.2 Quick Start Guide: If you are upgrading from previous versions of the Core Infrastructure

  • FRA, Journal multiplexing and request emergency

Oracle 11g R2 under 64-bit Linux.  ASM for data files.   I have several questions regarding the backup process:

For the backup and the multiplexing of newspaper, I intend to use the following method to save the data file, online newspapers, archive redo logs and control files (I deliberately put back on two different file system, i.e., one on the raw disk (file system managed by Oracle) and the other as cooks it filesystem ext3 (System)) :

1, put disc in shape like the raw disk for FRA (for data files, online newspapers, archived redo logs and control files)

Disc 2 to the regular file system format, that is, the ext3 file system (for the multiplexing of online newspapers, archived redo logs and control files).

My understanding is that at the time of execution, the RMAN automatically backups data file, control files, online redo logs and newspapers archived on FRA drive.

    (1) for the online redo logs, I believe that it is saved to the FRA and multiplxed in continuous and simultaneous mode to keep data in sync with it again connects to the CMS, right?

    (2) for the data file, backups RMAN for the FRA at some point.  What might be at this time?  02:00 every day or any time I can specify?

    (3) for remote backup.  I use the OEM to schedule a backup, say, increatmental in week and a full backup on weekends.  Where will the data come from?  The disc of FRA? or the ASM disks?

    Thank you

    scottjhn wrote:

I think my confusion of the concept of automated backup came here (with the exception of the doc):

For all installations, you must choose the storage option that you want to use for the Oracle database files. If you want to enable backups automated installation, you must also choose the storage option that you want to use for recovery files (the area of fast recovery).

So I thought that if I have activated the automatic backups, Oracle automatically back to the FRA.  Now, I understand that I must manually adjust upward (via OEM/RMAN) in order to achieve the "'automatic backups". "

Another thing is on the online redo log backup.

There is no backup of the recovery online newspapers - that's why it is strongly advised you the multiplex.

We know the redo logs are written in alternating.  Once the online journal are full, they are moved to archive (known as archived redo logs).

The redologs online are not moved anywhere.  They are copied to archive the redo logs.

Now suppose a synario, while online redo logs are loaded into the overall area of the system.

This is the second time that you referenced online redo logs as being in the SGA.  No, they are never in the SGA.  Where are you that?  Log buffers are in the LMS, but this is not the same as the files

and being written on, the system gets crashed.  This online redo log should be stored somewhere,

Yes, they must be stored somewhere.  And somewhere on the disk, exactly to the place specified when the redo log group has been defined.  MEMBER SELECT FROM V$ LOGFILE to see.

If not, when do the recovery lateron, information will be missing.

What information do you think will be absent?  Your transaction is not completed, command does not return to you, until the BONE confirmed to oracle changed data wrote in the redologs online - located on the disk.

For what I understand, it is that while online newspapers are written to execution, at the same time, they are multiplxed to other places, asssume I have already the dest locations, such as the FIU or/u01/oradata/onlinelogs.  This way, when do the lateron of recovery, it will be: data files, control files, archive logs + line newspapers.   But I don't know that I'm right?

No, you are not right.  You're confusing instance recovery (aka crash recovery) with recovery of the media database.  Spend time in the manual of Concepts and use the index to find all references to 'redo '.  Read especially the section on the recovery of body and keep firmly in mind that instance recovery is not the recovery of database.

    Thank you

  • Synchronize photos between 2 computers

I have 2 desktops in different places. I run Lightroom on both and keep the catalogue on Dropbox. Because 2 sites are very remote and I can access the remote computer from the one local, I have never had a problem with the maintenance of the synchronized catalog. However, I'm done over time using a very complicated method to synchronize my photos on both computers. I don't have room on my SSD to keep my pictures on the computer and kept them on a mini of Drobo (is not networked) connected to each computer. I support these photos to a carrier, which gives me a local and a remote backup. At the end of each month, I copy the folder of this month of Drobo to the carrier, and when I move the places I copy new files on the carrier to Drobo to this place. However, given that I work from the Drobo and back to carry, photos that are transferred from a folder to another on the Drobo as he tried to organize the photos of 15 tend to not move on the carrier, so they also are transferred to the remote computer. I'm looking for suggestions for a simpler and more elegant solution to keep my work on both computers synced folders and providing a local or remote backup solution. With the photo viewer in each place, be a player fast enough to run that Lightroom at top speed is also important for me.

I'm not on a particular budget and reflected on the use of Synologies, but do not have an idea of how fast they are or how sure they synchronize. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Hi badgermom,

It seems that you want to use the Lightroom catalog on two different computers.

I suggest you keep the images and the catalog in the external hard drive. You just connect the hard drive of the computer you use and start Lightroom using the catalog from an external hard drive.

    I hope this helps.
