Remote centres of work and HA?

Hi all

I have this situation:

-A customer has three different work centers. One of them (lets call him he has) shops of LES and the server, and other databases (B and C) are currently working on this issue through TCP/IP connections.

-The Center has sometimes suffer from power outages to B and C centres are not able to work.

-Managers want from a centre to work on the data, even if one or two other centers of failure.

I've had but on Vmware and mix with replication NAS HA. A NAS at each Center so if one goes down, B can take control and continue to work against B NAS. However, I can't figure out how or where to start, and even if the HA is the most apropriated approach... maybe DRS?, do I need any hardware specific storage for this?.

Explanation: They do need zero downtime, minutes are ok.

Note 2: What Storage Appliance?

Thanks in advance.

... Center has sometimes suffer from power outages...

In order to clarify. Are these planned interruptions or not? How time will it last they these downtime? A suitable UPS would be an option?

If the downtime is unplanned, there is always a risk of data loss or corruption and concerning the features of vSphere you mentioned, it is HA that initiates a restart of a virtual computer crashed. However, to be able to restart the virtual machine, shared storage must be available. If you need a storage solution that ensures synchronization (synchronous if possible). Most storage vendors main to provide such a solution. With most of the solutions you must activate the mirror, he can access, which may not work with HA. There are also other solotions as left (now HP P4000) that provide a failover to transparaent.

According to your needs, SLA and your budget, you must decide what will be the solution that suits you best.

  • "The remote procedure call failed and did not execute." Tried many things, still does not work

Hello, whenever I try to open a file, the message "the remote procedure call failed and did not execute" appears. I checked that "Remote Procedure Call" began and is on automatic, as well as the RPC Locator is the manual value. I also ran a full system scan of my Norton Antivirus, which picked up nothing.  Can someone please?

    Hello

You can try to change RPC Locator auto and see if that fixes the problem?

I recommend that you only perform a scan with the auditor of the filesystem, which will scan your system for missing/corrupted or damaged files and will try to correct them.

  • What is the best way to switch between the two sets of bookmarks, say 'work' and 'private '?

I want to use for sets of bookmarks, so that when I'm not working, I'm not distracted by my favorites not work and vice versa. For the last two months, I use two user accounts to achieve, but it's kinda a PITA. Links from other applications like Thunderbird mail are opened in the default profile. In other words, when I'm not at work and I click on a link in an e-mail, a new window opens with the work of my Firefox profile.

All I need is a thing or an extension to switch quickly sets bookmark. Or a way to switch profiles without having to open a new Firefox window. Any ideas?

You can not get Firefox works as you explain that you want. The default profile cannot be changed on the fly for the profile you are currently using. This message "Firefox is already running... "returns to cause you or 'something' trying to open a profile 2 (or later), unless -no-remote command has been used to open the additional profile. And -no-remote will not work to open the default profile without causing problems with the way Windows works with "call" the default browser.

In response to your last statement - "to separate my work and private stuff I just need to change the content of my bookmarks bar, so I was hoping there was a trick to keep groups of favourites."

This extension will allow you to change the Bookmarks Toolbar folder while you use Firefox.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/set-as-bookmarks-toolbar-folde/
I just installed this extension and check that it still works in 35 of Firefox.
There is a context menu item for 'Set as Bookmarks Toolbar Folder' ' which appears when the Menu Bookmarks menu Bar drop-down is used (not in the library window or the bookmarks bar). This menu item is displayed when you right-click a folder in the folder Menu bookmarks. It does not appear with the folder "Personal bar" or the "Unsorted Bookmarks" - only a folder in the Menu "Favorites".
Should be 'resolved' eager to have two different settings for the bookmarks toolbar, but the profile default 'thing' is always a problem for what you are trying to accomplish. I don't 'see a fix' for that - without resorting to a 2nd user account window, which is what I thought you were referring to by "I use two user accounts to achieve" in your initial post.
And because the menu bar is hidden by default, these days, you can use Alt and B to open the bookmarks menu dropdown Bar Menu 'revealed' so you can access this menu "Set as bookmarks toolbar folder" item - without having to show the Menu Bar all the time.

BTW, using 'accounts' instead of 'Profiles' can be confusing during the review of Firefox profiles.

  • remote control stops working

I have a 600PC Touchsmart with TV tuner comes with a remote control to control TV channels / volume... etc.

It worked well for about 12 months. Now, the remote control works well when the PC is first turned on, but then stops working after about 20 minutes.  Only, it works again when the PC has been activated and turn it back on.

I replaced the batteries and the remote control - but this happens again - which leads me to think that this is a problem in the PC itself.

This may or may not be connected, but at the same time - the wireless mouse has stopped working and I had to buy a different mouse wth a wireless transmitter, connected to a USB port and now works fine.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

    Hello jjf23,

To see if it solves the problem, follow these steps:

    1. "control Panel."

    2 system.

    3. "Device Manager."

4 expand "controllers of Bus USB"

5 right click on each of the items listed individually and select 'Properties' for each item. If there is a "power management" tab click on it. Make sure that the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power " unchecked.

6 click on "OK" and "restart" your computer.

If they are not already checked, simply reply with it.

The basic test, which I think that you would have already done, would be to check & replace the battery.

can be unique and have a cause other than others you can find online via a search.

While the battery would be a first thing to check, the remote control itself may be faulty. Or you

maybe see if a reset of the MSC could help somewhere on the computer, it works with.

An another reset which may or may not have something to do with the receiver in the Mac, is the following:

If your computer is still covered by an AppleCare agreement, you have the unit

tested & inspected to see if there is nothing wrong; and have it repaired. An Apple Store with

check and test the computer and the remote to see what is the problem. Genius:

  • A person of so-called security from Microsoft called and said my firewall did not work and had an ID # and asked me to do certain things is - this legitimate?

A person supposed to be Microsoft called and said my Firewall Security Center was not working and had an ID # they said was my ID of computers that he read out to me and that I have no idea whether or not this is the ID.  They wanted me to be in front of my computer and asked me to do things and wouldn't continue until I started, I started to do what they asked which of course I did NOT! I requested a call back number, and that's what he gave me:

Its a scam.  A well known and long-lasting.  Microsoft will never ask you for personal information (they already have them) and you never call cold.  Nor do they send messages of anti virus - and they do not have to connect to your machine.  NEVER allow anyone to connect remotely to your machine.

  • intermittent connection problem: 'the user profile Service service has no logon. The remote procedure call failed and did not execute. »

Hello, I'm having intermittent problems with logging in my Windows 7 computer.

Often after reboot due to applications of Windows Update or any simply restart after the holidays, I have the following message on trying to connect:

"The service user profile Service has no logon. The remote procedure call failed and did not execute. "

When I click 'OK', the machine disconnects and try to restart.  This can occur 2 to 5 times before _works_ .  But sometimes it happens at all.  And sometimes he _partially_ connects, but my "reminder" and the "Sidebar Gadgets' not loading not correctly and I get a different RPC error - for example, I lived once a message RPC over Skype cannot work because the remote procedure call failed.

I'm fairly certain that it is different from the frequently reported issue 'profile of corruption', which was experienced by others.  This problem manifests itself as 'the user profile Service does not log. The user profile could not be loaded "and is reported as a blocking problem consistently reproducible which is set by the 'fixing' of the profile.

However, the issue I feel is clearly related to an RPC problem is intermittent and not consistent - maybe one of my devices is not reset properly?  Where I can look in the logs of Windows, to provide relevant information on this subject?

Because my computer was still under warranty, I have raised the issue of Dell and they removed the damaged system file (user account) last week.

I hope that this will finally fix the problem (previously the error message disappear and reappear after a few weeks later.)  I'll give it a few more weeks to be sure.

  • Receive "remote procedure call failed and did not execute" on several files or folders

I get this error message when you try to open all folders ".  That is to say - 'profile by default', default, computer, administrator and three records under my name.  Also when I try to open the Control Panel, I get...: {26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683} \0 "remote procedure call failed and did not run".

This leaves me no way to even check the status of all.  Does anyone know why I get this message? And more important still, how can I solve this problem?

I guess maybe I should say that I have not tried to restart my PC.  I will try that next. But, even if the issues go away, I would really like to hear what caused it.

    Thank you

    Barb Morris

For memory than usually Service error RPC does not work, but it should always be running and takes an extra effort to stop it if something went haywire somewhere.

If the Service or the system is not afflicted in other cases restart is a good first move.

Your mistake could have resembled these examples from my notes:

  • "search query: = services the remote procedure call failed and did not run".

My computer crashed two days ago and I'm finally home, but whenever I try to open a window of any folder I keep refusing. In particular the main computer folder. One of the error messages I got is the following:

search query: = services the remote procedure call failed and did not run

    Followed by this one:

The remote procedure call failed and did not execute.

I opened the Task Manager and tried to access the services from there, but whenever I do, the Task Manager window freezes.

How can I fix it, my computer is so slow running and does hardly anything and guard with all freezing orders that I try.

    Hello

This error generally, if the system is infected with Virus and malware or system files are corrupt.

Please, try the methods below and check if the problem persists.

    SFC scanner.

You can read the following Microsoft article to repair corrupted using SFC tool files. Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

    Reference: http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

If the problem persists, try a run Microsoft Safety Scanner.

    http://definitionupdates.Microsoft.com/download/definitionupdates/safetyscanner/amd64/msert.exe

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Do try the suggestions above and let us know the results.

  • The remote procedure call failed and did not run + user problem?

Good so I have a Sony VAIO with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 4 GB RAM and 640 GB hard drive. During his first installation, VAIO asks you to name your computer so I called him "CARINA" and everything worked perfectly.

However, we wanted to change the main username in the 'OSCAR', so I went to the control panel > users and this has changed. I thought that everything was great, because when I open the Start Menu, top-right, he says "OSCAR". After more research in the area of research, two things appears under the name 'CARINA': a 'user profile', I think, who had a small square color sky-blueish. and a folder with a lock on it. I tried clicking on the user 'CARINA' first profile, and it just opened what, in my view, is a Properties window 'CARINA '.

But when I clicked on the folder "CARINA" with a lock, it opened my libraries. But get this: at the top, he said not "CARINA", but "OSCAR". I thought it was odd he did that so I told the computer to delete the folder with the lock named 'CARINA '. As soon as I realized it was a huge file and a gazillion files were there (real libraries), I canceled it, he wants to immediately restore the Recycle bin. But nothing appears on the trash, or I can't enter either because an error saying "the remote procedure call failed and did not execute".

But the mistake has been made and now it does not work. The Start Menu appears, but I can't click on anything or use the search box. When I click on my library of records, the same message appears ("the remote procedure call failed and did not execute") or when I enter 'Open action center', he said ': {266EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}\5\::{BB64F8A7-BEE7-4E1A-AB8D-7D8273F7FDB...» The remote procedure call failed and did not execute. " Programs on my toolbar work, such as Chrome or Windows Media, or I can change the volume with the icon in the lower right, but I can not enter in 'Computer', my libraries, or anything else. When I open the the TASK Manager, under processes, they are all under the name CARINA. If I stand on the top of the "explorer.exe" process, and I do a right-click on top of CARINA > properties > Security > there are 4 listed users:

    • SYSTEM
    • Administrators (CARINA-VAIO\Administrators)
    • Users (CARINA-VAIO\Users)
    • TrustedInstaller

The computer has a backup (if I have a backup of an another VAIO Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit if necessary) and I'm afraid to stop in case it does not start again. :(

Any help? What can I do?

  • Try to get a wireless remote control to work with Flash presentation... Help!

I know almost nothing about Flash or Powerpoint.  They gave me a Flash presentation that I need I want to show at meetings using my wireless remote control, but I can't seem to move forward and backward between slides (works very well using the arrow keys on the keyboard to laptop - Windows XP Pro).  The remote works fine with Powerpoint presentations, so I don't know the remote is ok.  Is there some setting/order I have to run my Flash presentation with my remote, or do I need a special remote control?  I have already spoken to the remote support (Keyspan/TrippLite) and they were totally unknown wirh Flash and said simply that their device works with Powerpoint, as announced, which was true, but they could not help me with Flash presentations.  There, can someone help me?  Thank you very much!

Thanks a lot for all the help.  I see a lot of situations where I can use the functions available through the use of SharpKeys2 key mapping, as well as a few other programs I 'discovered' during my travels recent (KeyTweak + AutoHotKey).  Even better for my situation here, I just got a more advanced model Keyspan remote (PR-Pro3) what Flash handles submissions very well - I have no idea why - and nor their tech support, apparently.  Anyway, the PR - EZ1 will come back to Newegg and I'm fortunately wireless practice of my script for my Flash presentation - working remote in hand!  Take care.

  • That means "use work and movement? ''

When you open the window of information on an album, there is a checkbox for "use work and movement".  What does that mean?  Feel if you tick the box?

    Thank you!

'Work' and 'movement' are designed for orchestral works - so does that music as Beethoven symphonies can be arranged.
