Remote Desktop 6.0 error - try remotely on a Windows 7 computer from an XP machine

I have a XP machine and a Windows 7 computer, we are trying to remote into the XP machine. The two machines are connected to our network, but only the Win 7 machine is located in our area. When you try to distance in the Win 7 machine form the XP with Remote Desktop 6.0, I get the error message 0 x 80090330. I checked with my network admin identifiers are correct and still does not connect.

The XP machine is currently under service pack 2. Can we do anything without having to update the service pack?

If chkdsk/r it won't clear up (sometimes approaching a few passes), then I have no other good ideas.

If your system of alternative operating unspecified is something like Ubuntu or Linux, there is no way to run chkdsk on a volume NTFS of those (at least I think so).

Since your drive seems OK in other operating systems, you will have to bite the bullet, copy all your personal data and files (documents, pictures, music, etc.) to an external drive/device and reformat your drive potentially affected HARD / failed and reinstall your XP, reinstall your applications and copy your personal files.

It could be that the reader does not just succeed or failed.  According to the manufacturer of the HARD drive, sometimes there are utilities and tools on the HARD drive manufacturers WEB site to help diagnose and solve problems, but some of their tests could be destructive to your personal files so you must be sure that you have backed up before messing around with them things.

Using your other OS, I save on and everything you can to another drive or external device so that you can save.

    Hi Vicky,

We need after the details on your part to help you better.

    (1) what is the exact full error message?

    (2) do you have any third-party security software or antivirus installed on your computer?

Check the updates installed properly on your computer. Double-click the update that shows unsuccessful, and write us with error codes. You can follow the steps in the link below.

    Open event viewer

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-Vista/open-Event-Viewer

You could deal with this question for various reasons. Windows update fails to install if there is a conflict with a third-party security software installed on your computer. Follow the troubleshooting steps below.

Step 1: Temporarily disable all security software.

Temporarily disable anti-virus software or any other security software temporarily on your computer.

Warning: security software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Step 2: How to reset the Windows Update components?

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

    (1) when I try to set up "Remote support" I get the error message: "your current system settings prevent you from sending an invitation. How can I solve this problem?

    (2) can I use this feature when both computers are on the same network?

    Hello

    (1) you must configure your computer to use the remote control - see here:

    http://www.winxptutor.com/raenable.htm

and don't forget to make the firewall exceptions

    (2) this function works on the different network also (so a computer can be in the United States and one in Australia)

Note - a computer can have Windows XP (family or professional edition) and another may have Windows 7, Vista.

  • Remote Desktop - Windows Vista-based computer to a Windows 7 computer on a local network in my office

I have a laptop Windows Vista Home Premium that is trying to connect to my Windows 7 desktop. It worked fine when my desktop computer was Windows XP and I was running the same laptop Vista Windows 7, I am now.

What has changed? I have a modem/router to two sons and has not changed the settings. I just tried opening port 3389 and cutting the firewall of Windows with the same results.

I have a VPN and the game works fine.

Get remote desktop dialog box for opening and saving in and I know that it is configured correctly, because when I take my Vista laptop to the office the RD connection works fine and I can see and I work on my Windows 7 desktop computer, so the problem is either something on my home network or with my ISP - using DSL - ideas?

    Thank you

  • Remote Desktop connection for XP Pro to a pc Windows 7

I am trying to connect to a Windows 7 Pro pc using my Windows XP Pro computer.  I created the firewall for inbound and outbound rules to a specific port, set the port on the Terminal Server and upgraded the Remote Desktop Client in the XP box to 6.0.  However, I still can't connect to the Win7 pc unless I completely disable the firewall.  Could someone please give me a solution to this problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

The firewall blocks the traffic, you probably does not correctly configured the ports and its opening.

Apple remote activated iTunes on my computer while I'm sailing in Apple TV

So when I try to navigate the Apple TV using my apple remote, my computer meets her while she sleeps, and the screen is closed. Is it possible that I can get the computer stops responding to the remote control? It is very inconvenient when we try to watch a movie on the Apple TV and iTunes started playing on the background, it will even through the playlist when we advance and rewind. It actually starts iTunes, even if she leave beforehand.

I think you need to pair the remote with ATV. The problem is that your computer is done to meet the same codes on remote Apple as ATV. For operating instructions, see get help with your remote Apple Remote - Apple Support .
