  • Can I disable the Terminal Services if I don't use remote assistance/remote desktop?

I use can I have Vista 32 bit home premium

But when I run Netstat - ano, I see that port 3389 is listening svchost.exe process when I checal what services are related to this particular svchost.exe, I see the following services:

    Cryptographic services

    network location awareness
    KtmRm for distributed transaction coordination

    and Terminal Server services

Seems to be at a point several years ago, I allowed someone from microsoft to help me through the assistance at a distance could therefore have enabled or downloaded services Terminal Server?

In any case, I think that Terminal Services is initially port 3389 to remain open and thus get an unsolicited connection attempts from different IP addresses.

I tried a little experiment and finished the Terminal Services and changed the status of manual start-up. When I still ran netstat - ano, he showed no listening on port 3389

However, when I rebooted my computer Terminal Server was running again. So I ended it again but this time off the service. When I fell net stat - ano he showed terminal services does not. then when I restarted my computer, Terminal Server services do not have turn on port 3389 has not been shown that listening

SO my question is, as a user of Vista which doesn't use remote help desk or remotely.

    1. I CAN keep the disabled Services Terminal Server?

    2. it cause me any problem of operation or security if she stays in the disabled state?

3 have disabled will cause me to not be able to get the scheduled updates?

But I have been informed by Norton Personal asa require a Terminal Server Services be, nit for the part of remote assistance, but for other reasons. They say I can't turn off

    Hello

Is there a way I can connect to a VDI machine that is already used by a user for purposes of troubleshooting and technical support?

Currently we use Remote Desktop Centeral in and manage these workstations, but once we introduce vWorkspace (VDI), we no longer have this feature and I want to avoid installing Desktop Agent Central on the VDI Machine...

I wonder if vWorkspace have workaround / plans to introduce a new feature for this issue?

    Thank you

    Hello

In the vWorkspace Management Console, right click on "Locations" and then click RDP connections

Check the box 'enable remote RDP administration control '.

Now navigate to the computer group. Right-click on the computer that you want to help, and then select

    Remote control | Remote assistance

Not sure if they fixed it again where you can control the machine or if it is still seen only. Which was recorded as an enhancement request.

    Thank you, Andrew.

  • Remote Desktop connection and file sharing

Hello, I have a technical question about file sharing.

I use a remote desktop connection to connect to the server of the company.  We are currently between the two groups of IT services (last guy retired, he will be missed!) In any case, I need to backup my desktop files locally and have 4 or 5 of these local desktop file files saved as a backup on the server.   I want to just my files desktop back mount easily on the server. And I don't know how / what to ask to do this. I just need to know what to ask.

    I'm having problems:

    1. I don't know how to configure a file to save its content on and through a secure server.

    2. There are two types of files that I am trying to backup my office.  The details are below.

    2. the first type of files are simple files of customer data, PDF files, word files, files is excellent. Thus, some records are filled with the updated forms and these files constantly increasing in number and size of the file.  A simple example of this type would be a Bill.  File grows in size and file number every week because the new files are always being added.

2B. I can't accurately describe the second type of file.  We use a program called TFP - when you open the program you load the specific customer file in a drop-down box.  Whenever you open the customer specific AMTS program saves any changes you made to this file and updates the customer file with a new date and then transfers the file from the client to a file from archive in C: drive. Basically, I want to save this file on the server of the company.

    3. can we make us safe so that data gets only shared a way?  I don't want people on the server to change my desktop files.

Feel free to ask any questions.   Thank you in advance.

    David

    (1) remote access to the server is not enabled

Make sure that the remote computer is on and connected to the network, and remote access is enabled.

When should I wear analysis server there is no enabled 3389 port. I am using RDP just for administrative purposes. I used to connect to the machine via RDP but one day it just stopped working.

  • The remote desktop icon - cannot change the settings & only appeared yesterday - have I been compromised

    Hello

I had a quick glance around my system because I think it has been compromised. Today, I noticed something I never saw before a "Remote Desktop connection" icon in my documents - time created yesterday - at about 20:00 - 08/04 when I was not on the machine and certainly don't remember updated anything.
I went into control panel / system/distance and unchecked boxes related to assistance remotely etc. Is there anyway that anyone can access my machine remotely? or how would I know if they have?  The sudden appearance of this icon and the calendar has caused me some alarm. I deleted it + at the present time, it is in the trash. I did it because it gives an error when I try to save changes to settings that do not allow access.
Someone could give me some advice please on what this could be and how I can assure any remote access to my pc. (Windows XP / wired ethernet via Bt Home Hub connection)  Thank you.

  • Chess FIPS and Remote Desktop connection

I currently enabled FIPS compatible algorithms on my network.  All our machines are running the highest connection Office remotely.  This seems to be very well on servers but trying to control remote in all clients mainly (using Windows XP, but I also if this problem on Windows 7 as well) it fails.  I did all the tests and I can isolate it specifically to the active FIPS policy.  What can I do to get Office remotely functional again on my clients?  So far the only thing work is to temporarily disable the FIPS and then I can remote into the machines again?  I really want to keep the FIPS enabled for its security, but if it's going to inhibit remote desktop it's going to be a major problem.  Thanks in advance to anyone who can solve this problem!

  • Cannot print on my local printer when you use remote desktop to access the server (Server 2008).

We are struggling to print on my local printer when you use remote desktop to access the server (Server 2008).  Cannot make it work.  Any suggestions?

    Hi EverettBurton,

  • Cannot print using Remote Desktop connection

I have a computer that we will called XP. XP was XP loaded on this subject. It is on a home network with ethernet etc. It has a USB Samsung CLP315 printer attached to it, which we will call SAMSUNG.  XP print SAMSUNG without any problem. SAMSUNG is shared and has the latest drivers.

    Configuration on XP
    Pilot # is 3.04.85:44
Port: USB001 virtual printer for USB Port
Sharing installed additional drivers Intel environment Windows 2000 or XP

Using Remote Desktop connection, I connect to my computer at work, that we will call the WORK that has Windows 7 above and is part of a local network. When you use Word for example on WORK, I should be able to print on SAMSUNG on XP. However SAMSUNG on XP does not present as a printer available. However, I can print from JOB printers shared on the local network or locally connected. Unfortunately, it is of limited use to me because I can not physically get the printed paper, or to know if the printed page correctly until the next day, I get to work.

I have the Settings Options on the remote desktop connection when I connect XP to WORK remotely. I think that this complies with the info I found on the knowledge base.

On the general tab, I have the correct name of the computer and user. I have "allow me to save credentials" deselected.

Local "resources" tab, "materials and resources local printers" and "Clipboard" are selected. Under 'More', 'smart cards' and 'Cards series' are selected. Similarly 'Readers' and 'Supported peripheral Plug - n Play' and their subitems are all selected.

    Tab programs not specified

If there is other information in the options that may be relevant, please advise and I will detail later.

Already XP used to via the desktop connection to remotely connect to another computer to WORK which took place of XP. When I'd do things on the WORK and wanted to print with SAMSUNG on XP, SAMSUNG has shown on the list of available printers and would print WORK jobs

On the local network at the office, WORK is connected and print to a shared printer on a computer showroom (XP) which is identical to the SAMSUNG for model # and driver. So by my way of thinking, the driver is already loaded and functioning.

    Any help would be appreciated.
