Removal of administrator rights

Hello

If I delete my account Admin rights after you create another admin account, in order to continue to use my ex-admin account now for everyday tasks, will I have problems?

So, to summarize:

(1) create an admin account for changes in the system etc.

(2) remove the usual account administrator rights (let's call it "Account BOB," for example) which, until now, had administrator rights

(3) continue using BOB account for daily tasks

Purpose of the entire operation: ad extra security level.

Thank you!

  • Administrator: an administrator can add and manage other users, install applications, and change the settings. The new user that you create when you set up your Mac is an administrator. Your Mac can have multiple administrators. You can create new ones and convert standard users to administrators. Don't set up the automatic connection to an administrator. If you do, someone could simply restart your Mac and access with administrator privileges. To secure your Mac, don't share administrator names and passwords.

  • Administrator rights removed by child.

I gave my son administrator access to the family computer because I was tired to enter the admin password whenever he tried to start a program that requires administrator rights. He returned the favor by removing my password and change my account to a standard user account and will not give me the admin password so I can reset the security, because he knows he will lose the privilege of admin I granted him permanantly. Short of wiping the hard drive, is there an easy way to get started with the installation CD and replace the security file to access again? or am I better off to reset the computer to the restore point where I gave him access? I want to teach my 12 years that it is not more intelligent than his old man! I just want to really see the expression on his face when it starts the computer to see 'standard user' next to his name, because he was so proud of lock me out, and it's something that can't happen. I need to be able to inspect the computer and see what kind of * it is to enter in.

Use your Windows repair CD to start the computer in Repair Mode, and then use the system restore to set Windows to a point before the password has changed.

Then, you will need to plan ahead a little. Giving the one and only master away password seems a little myopic, that's an understatement. Create, test, and document a spare account right now, and then create a regular account for your son.

First of all, to know if your computer have added additional users. If it has sign out and log in users. If your computer is the only user whenever you want to add or remove programs, simply right click there you will see a right to delete/modify administrator software.

  • Cannot delete the account of a user with administrator rights

I want to remove a user who has administrator rights account.  Win XP machine has two users (Administrator and a user name) that both are of type of administrator account.

I you as an administrator and should be able to change the other named to Limited user account, but for Limited is greyed out.  The option to delete the named account is not present.

How can I delete this account, leaving only administrator?

Often, I find that using the command line commands gives errors better when you can not do something.  Try the following:

    o bring a window prompt (start-> Run-> "cmd")

o enter the following command in the window:

    net localgroup administrators

o that it must return a list of all users with administrator privileges.  You should see the built-in user 'Administrator' and your other user (assuming that both have administrator privileges).  To remove administrator privileges from the user (assuming that this another username is "Joe"), then enter the following command:

    net localgroup administrators Joe/remove

If this is not possible, an error no doubt will provide you with enough information.

  • Impossible to uninstall programs as says needs administrator rights

Hi, I'm trying to uninstall programs, but still, he stands up and says I need administrator rights, but it does not give me the "Run as Administrator" at this stage.  Does anyone know how to remedy this?  Thank you.

    Hello

You can uninstall a program from your computer if you no longer use, or if you want to free up space on your hard drive. You can use the programs and features to uninstall programs or to change the configuration of the program by adding or removing certain options.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/uninstall-or-change-a-program

    1. Open programs and features by clicking on the button start , by clicking on the Control Panel, click programs, and then click programs and features.

    2. Select a program and then click on uninstall. Some programs include the ability to modify or repair the program in addition to uninstall. but many simply offer the option uninstall. To change a program, click on change or repair. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  • How can I get the administrator rights on my user account?

    OT: Without administrator rights.

I don't have my active administrator account.

I had a user account that I removed myself from the group administrator.

Now I'm locked to do anything.

I can't assign me to the admin group, I can't allow the user to administrator, I can't edit some files or delete some software...

I tried cmd but get access denied when you try to activate the administrator account. It does not help if I open CMD or anything else with administrator privileges.

I can't open the recovery mode, tried to start in safe mode and all the rest.

How can I get the administrator rights on my user account?

I had a user account, which I removed myself from the group administrator.

-> This is called "paint yourself in a corner.

I tried cmd but get access denied when you try to activate the administrator account. It does not help if I open CMD or anything else with administrator privileges.

-> Is normal. Either you are an administrator, or you're not.

How can I get the administrator rights on my user account?

-> Ask a friend to burn a CD repair system for you (Control Panel / backup and restore). Now to use this CD to start the machine in Repair Mode, and then use the system restore to set Windows to a point before you downgrade your one and only the admin account.

When you're done, plan ahead a little and create, test and document a spare, even admin account that you have a spare House key. This will save you a lot of trouble.

  • Windows needs administrator rights to enter the PUK code number

    Hello

in the company I currently work for, many users use a laptop with a mobile connection to connect to the internet.

It sometimes happens that the user has entered the wrong PIN code several times, so Windows needs the PUK code to unlock the SIM card.

Windows 7 (and Windows 8 also) administrator rights are needed to enter the PUK code.

Laptop users don't usually have local administrative rights, so internally, IT needs to enter the PUK code.

Why is it necessary to have administrative rights to enter the PUK code?

A possible solution would be to remove the SIM card from the laptop and insert it into a mobile phone. Currently not possible, because the mobile phone requires a SIM nano and the laptop on a mini SIM card. We would therefore order to new nano sim cards and buy a lot of cards. It should work, but I would prefer a software solution.

  • How to get back my full and indisputable administrator rights and privileges back as if it was before on my user account

Well, for starters, I use a HP Pavilion G6 and it runs Windows 7 Home Premium OS.

Well, I personally did the implementation of the PC and fact my user account on the system (with full administrator privileges) while I'm my songs and other stuff on it, well, I share the PC with my sister (she is not to do much with it except video games and songs), yes as I had my stuff on the PC , I noticed that could be considered my user account from my sister stuff, just double click on it (I did its standard user account), that worried me, I mean what was the point of password protecting the account if one day she'll find my user folder and just to open and access all my stuff? So I decided to remove a few rights (I couldn't find a way to his lock out of my user folder. Honestly, I thought I was doing the right thing, well I saw properties of my user folder, go to the Security section and well refused all access features to the (to change to call you) personally I expected to block his access to my stuff, but he finished only take stuff on the desk and me to my own account lockout.

I found a way and used the administrator (surprisingly, I thought I was administrator since I did the setting in (I know there is a default Administrator account and a few others for things far from MS).) So I did it, in a way of to return, my rights and my stuff back, but now it seems that I'm not admin, all I want to do requires an admin who don't have troubled me some time ago, I went to the local disk properties and made sure that I had all access on my user account , but no, something is still not back to normal.

The result is, I want to just that my account of the way he has been, with full administrator privileges and everything, without requiring me this user or that, to be the boss.

Oh, and the My Music folder is not too just need admin just before you do anything in, I went to its security properties, and it allows me to check full access.

I really need help everyone, could help you?

I want my account respected as an administrator again.

    [Moved from comments]

You can probably fix your problem by using the system restore. Here's how it works:
    1. keep tapping F8 during the first phase of startup.
    2. select Repair from the menu.
    3. Select an administrator account, and then enter its password.
    4. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
    5. set Windows to a point before this problem occurred.
  • I have Win7 Pro. I'm supposed to have administrator rights (this is what he says anyway) but the computer won't allow me to update a java file...

In my Scottrade account, I click on Scottrader Streaming Quotes. This is supposed to load a java program discovers my investments and to buy or sell stocks.

The problem is when the Java program load Windows performs a security check, he says: "unable to validate the certificate. The application will not run. »

So I called Scottrade tech and they had me remove the file called "trusted.certs" in my java directory, I delete. Now when I try to access the Scottrade Streaming Quotes it is supposed to make a file of costs 'trusted.certs' as long as I have administrative rights. I don't have the rights of Directors but he always did re - make the "trusted.certs" file so I can access my Java program.

I only have Microsoft Security Essentials.

If I'm the administrator (and I am), why are there directories locking me? Is it possible that my administrative rights program is corrupted?

How can I be sure that my computer sees me as an administrator?

    Thanks for any help.

YAY! It works! THANKS DAI SUNNIS!

Wow! and I thought I have to re - install Windows 7 just for this problem. You saved me so much grief! If you are ever in Michigan I'll buy you a drink or two, three or four!

  • How to deepen the administrator rights on the computer?

Original title: a little URGENT please - Windows 8 lost administrator rights

    Here's the question.

I have an Asus all in one type of windows desktop PC 8. I improved this standard to professional.
There is a local user account, who somehow lost administration rights. This is obviously a problem, because I can not access several functions of the computer, including a critical application of the work.
There is no other user accounts on the pc to connect to the standard administrator account that I suppose is disable by default? As I don't see it.
After some googling, I tried a few methods to solve this, nothing helps. It seems im in a catch 22, as to solve the problem of having admin rights, I need to have administrator rights to perform the majority of bugs!
Tried to start the safe mode, to re - activate administrator privileges by pressing F8 or SHIFT F8
-no effect - pc just started normally
Tried to activate the account administrator "cmd".
-This must be done by run cmd as administrator, which I'm not currently!
Tried to add mode without fail to the startup list
-Need to be administrator to do!
I don't see any method to restore or recover to previous point
Impossible to reinstall windows as it came pre-installed with windows. I was about to add the computer to a domain so that I could make a clean image before this problem occurred
Uh, I forgot what I tried now. pulling my hair out over this. Seems nothing more I need to do, I have access to an administrator account to run needs. If I could get in safe mode somehow that seems like it would allow me to solve this problem, but I can't get into that any means.
Help, please! It is a working pc and the only app that gets used, requires administrator privileges to run. If his critics I solve this problem
    Thank you!
Hi, I know I'm a little late to the party, but I found this post faced a similar problem and thought that post my findings.
I found a work around for this problem, which does not require a reinstall of Windows, but you may lose your user account.
    Summary:
The problem is that in Windows 8, the administrator is inactive by default, you will have to find a way to activate it. You can activate the admin as an admin account, however. Fortunately, (on my machine anyway) it seems that you can access your hidden from the Safemode administrator account. If your first set of objectives will be as follows:
    -starting in safe mode
    -Log in as an administrator
-l' administrator, enable the account administrator similarly.
-Restart your machine and you as an administrator outside of safe mode (normal mode).
From here, you should be free to do what you want. Now that the admin account is active, you are allowed to type a password when prompted (by default that the password is empty). For me, however, when I tried to promote my previous user administrator account (among other things) I noticed symptoms that seem to indicate that the account ceased to exist. I went through measures to set up a new account and get it synced with my microsoft email account.
    -Create a new user account
    -give administrator rights
-remove my old (for some reason, hidden) account
-Sync to the top of my new user account with microsoft e-mail account.
    Directions for use:
    How to get admin access:
(1.) start in safe mode. You can make it easier by opening a command prompt (Start menu-> type "cmd"). And type "shutdown/r/o".
2.), your computer begins to restart, but give you a set of troubleshooting options. Choose troubleshooting->-> start of the Advanced Options settings.
3.) after reboot and enter safe mode, users of contactor by going to the start menu-> click on your user name-> and choose administrator.
4.) Windows will begin the first initialization for this account.
5.) once connected, open the command prompt, this time as a Director. (Make a right click-> Run as administrator).
6.) type "net user administrator / Active: Yes" to set the admin account as 'active'. It will now be shown outside of safe mode.
7.) restart your computer and log in as administrator again. You can now add users and to play with the permissions etc. (metro options are not available in safe mode, where the reset).
How to remove your old account of 'lost' and synchronize your new account with the microsoft account.
1.) create a new account via the control panel users. Don't forget to give you administrator rights.
(2.) to remove your lost old account by typing "net use /del" in an administrator command prompt. You need to know your old account name, good luck with this one.
3.) go into the settings of your pc: open the context menu on the right-> settings-> "change PC settings."
(4.) to go to the users-> Select 'switch to a Microsoft account» tab
    I hope this helps!
  • Administrator rights for CP9

Hi all.  Our friendly staff of the TI, for security reasons, have removed us the rights administrator on our PC.  Because Captivate requires administrator rights to work properly, they have somehow allowed admin for Captivate only rights.  If the application runs successfully, except the help - updates option is grayed out and unavailable.  So I can't run Adobe Application Manager (or whatever it's called) and have no idea when one of Adobe applications, I installed (I have the e-Learning Suite) are updated.  So my question is, how can I be made aware of updates to the Adobe software?  I have check the Adobe Captivate Blog everyday and keep an eye on this Forum Captivate.  Is there another source of update notice?

Does not not even mentioning if there is an update, can I install it is more - I need to get the COMPUTER staff to do.  It's a crazy finish reaction in my opinion, but my opinion is not enough.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I always try to talk about newly released patches everywhere... but important fixes are going to be spoken on the blog of Captivate I trust.
