Removal of disks disposable vdm [files Zombie hard]?

Hello.

"I've generated a report using the app RVTools and filtered all the"possibly a vmdk file Zombie! Please check. ' options so I can try to free up space on many warehouses of data.

The underside of the disc (for example) has been reported as a zombie vmdk file as possible:

vdm-disposable.png

When I navigate to this particular virtual machine and check the settings of the currently attached disks to the it it does not appear, instead another disposable disc only.

vdm-disposable2.pngvdm-disposable3.png

So... my question is can the original disc that had been reported as being a zombie vmdk be deleted because it does not seem to be attached to the virtual machine more, or is it still connected with something somewhere?

Thanks to everyone for their help.

If RVTools detect's zombie is cause this hard is absent in any configuration of virtual machine, but for safety, move this hard in a temp folder in your data store and wait a few days before deleting it.

    You can also check to see how much space is reserved for the restoration of the system; by default, many GBs are usually reserved. Also disable hibernation as the file created can be 2-3 GB, sometimes even more.

    In addition to Disk Cleaner, you can consider running CCleaner. This is a free program that will remove the unnecessary and temporary files temporary Internet files of the most popular and many browsers other caches that can be cleaned safely.

  • Removal of damaged and unreadable files

    After recovering from a failure of the HD, restoration has added a few corrupted files. I can't remove them and have used all of the methods suggested, I could find (for example, chkdsk, disk cleaner, unlocker, safemode, Hiren BootCD)? Apparently the failed drive content/caused some files to become corrupt were then copied to the backup file and more later restored corrupted.

    I replaced the defective drive and then restored from a backup, Acronis. The Documents and Settings folder found \temp so I could copy the files needed for new Documents and Settings. Everything seemed to have worked fine until I tried to remove the Documents and Settings is no longer necessary to \temp. Now, I have a number of different files in \temp which cannot be deleted. Error when I try to remove one of the offending files is "cannot delete [filename]: the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

    Can someone suggest another method to clean up this mess short of reformatting the new drive and reinstall again? TIA.

    Hello

    Saved on the HARD drive recovery image can be used if the laptop has only factory settings. After installing Win8 you have changed everything and factory settings have been deleted. If use of F8 are unable to work.

    This 400MB you see have nothing to do with the Toshiba recovery image. This small partition is owned by the operating system.

    One thing confuses me in the history. It is the use of recovery disks.
    You have created recovery discs using the preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator?

    Generally the recovery disk contains all the important data for the installation of the OS, so I put t understand how you can get this message.

  • How can I delete file from HARD drive recovery?

    I burned a copy of the HDD recovery folder and would now like to delete the original folder on my hard drive that I need the space.
    Unfortunately I don't seem to have permission to make changes to the file.

    Any suggestions? (I'm a noob in vista)

    Thank you

    > burned a copy of the HDD recovery folder
    I think this will not help you if you would try to recover this file of HARD drive recovery once again!
    You need a recovery disk! This disc would only create a HARD disk partition once again!

    This means that you must create the recovery disk, first using the Toshiba recovery disc creator! This tool is preinstalled!

    So after you have created a successfully recovery disk, you can try to delete the folder from the HARD drive. But to be honest, I don t recommend this I want to say that this folder can be very useful in the future in case something goes wrong with your system

    However, I think that you cannot delete it because you don t have permission to admin
    You can try to disable UAC first
    Disable UAC is as easy as start > run > msconfig > tools > disable UAC > Ok.

    To completely remove the Windows Easy Transfer files and restore the 'normal' hard drive icons, try the following steps:

    a. open the computer, select Tools > Folder Options to open the Folder Options window
    b. in the view tab, select Show hidden files and folders
    c. right click on each of the icons (in my case - disc vista & W7 drive) hard drive and select Explorer
    d. find Windows easy transfer.exe and windowseasytrasfer autorun.inf folder and delete them from the root of the two readers
    e. restart your computer and check if the problem is resolved.

    Hello

    We have recently added 3 new HARD drive for our MD3220i and added to the evil through MDSM disk pool. We have to remove disks from the pool to add to a separate disk group.

    I have looked everywhere and have not been able to find anything on how to do it. Anyone here have experience with this, or at least know a reference that describes this process?

    Thank you!

    Hello, Tim.

    In the 8.10.05.60 firmware versions and up, there is an option to "Remove the Disks (Capacity) physical". From the GUI, the tab 'Storage Services & copy', right-click on the "cluster" (in the left tree view pane), and you should see a "Remove the Disks (Capacity) physical" option which will lead you through the process.

    Let me know if it works for you, or if you have any other questions. Have a great rest of the week!

  • Remove the disks - task does nothing?

    I have a workflow that takes a vm (u_vm below) and an array of strings (u_ldevs below).  It removes the disks of the virtual machine that resident on data warehouses where the last 4 digits match a string in the table provided (u_ldevs).  (in case you're wondering, ldev is a 4-digit hexadecimal number that corresponds to the id of the LUN on the storage array, and we add at the end of each data store name)

    System.log messages in the loop to output the data you expect. all records to be deleted are correct and the appliance.  The task is executed successfully (and I see successful in vSphere), however the VM is unchanged.  I added a loop of debugging downstairs to iterate on the devices to validate the specification contains what I put in, but this lower node does not return any data, which makes me think I'm missing something really stupid.  Can someone take a look?

    System.log(u_vm.name)
    var spec = new VcVirtualMachineConfigSpec();
    spec.deviceChange = [];
    var ix = 0;

    for each (var device in u_vm.config.hardware.device)
    {
      if (device instanceof VcVirtualDisk)
      {
           if (device.backing instanceof VcVirtualDiskFlatVer2BackingInfo)
           {
                var dsname = device.backing.datastore.name;
                var possibleLdev = dsname.substring(dsname.length-4, dsname.length);
                for each (var ldev in u_ldevs)
                {
                     if (ldev == possibleLdev)
                     {
                          var devChange = new VcVirtualDeviceConfigSpec();
                          devChange.operation = VcVirtualDeviceConfigSpecOperation.remove;
                          devChange.device = device;
                          spec.deviceChange.push(devChange);
                          System.log("Found " + dsname); // this prints the datastore name
                          System.log("device: " + device.deviceInfo.label); // this prints the device label "Hard Disk #"
                     }
                }
           }
      }
    }

    for (var ix in spec.deviceChange) // have also tried a for each (var devChange in spec.deviceChange) ...
    {
      System.log('dev change:'); // this never prints

    task = u_vm.reconfigVM_Task(spec);  // this run successfully

    I think that the problem is somehow related to the fact that vRO script properties table are not exactly identical to the normal Javascript table properties.

    A possible solution would be to collect device configuration specifications not directly in the spec.deviceChange property, but in a simple Javascript temporary table and assign the entire table to spec.deviceChange after the first loop.

    Something like this:

    System.log(u_vm.name)
    var spec = new VcVirtualMachineConfigSpec();
    myDeviceChanges = [];  // <- plain Javascript array
    var ix = 0;

    for each (var device in u_vm.config.hardware.device)
    {
      if (device instanceof VcVirtualDisk)
      {
           if (device.backing instanceof VcVirtualDiskFlatVer2BackingInfo)
           {
                var dsname = device.backing.datastore.name;
                var possibleLdev = dsname.substring(dsname.length-4, dsname.length);
                for each (var ldev in u_ldevs)
                {
                     if (ldev == possibleLdev)
                     {
                          var devChange = new VcVirtualDeviceConfigSpec();
                          devChange.operation = VcVirtualDeviceConfigSpecOperation.remove;
                          devChange.device = device;
                          myDeviceChanges.push(devChange);
                          System.log("Found " + dsname); // this prints the datastore name
                          System.log("device: " + device.deviceInfo.label); // this prints the device label "Hard Disk #"

                }
           }
      }
    }

    spec.deviceChange = myDeviceChanges; // <- assign collected device config specs at once

  • "Delete from disk" deletes all files

    Hi all

    ESXi4.0, local data store. When I on the right, click a virtual machine and choose "Delete From Disk", it turns out that the file of the virtual machine is still in the data store and it leaves some with a vmdk file is very large. That worries me. Why it is not remove it entirely? Should always manually check us in the data store for any "left on"?

    Thank you.

    Dream for sure, delete and delete VM from disk removes all vmdk files which are not in this (.vmx) files of configuration of VM, even if the files in the same folder, VM. No surprise, because sometimes we have deleted by mistake the disk of the virtual machine ONLY, instead remove VM disk and delete disk.

    Hello
    Management should use a Diskgroup separated for OCR and Vote. I have the habit of creating a Diskgroup using normal redundancy (3 LUN) to files Clusterware.
    Currently starts is used for different purposes (FRA, ACFS, Clusterware files, database files, etc.) is highly recommended to use a diskgroup for each use. It will make a big difference when you do maintenance on start (like add/remove the disks/diskgroup, duplication, etc.)
    Oracle RAC FAQ:
    Best practices for ASM must have 2 starts. Best practices for OCR to ASM are to have a copy of the OCR in each diskgroup.

    When you delete the last folder empty under a drive, the drive itself should disappear from the folder Panel.
