Removal of several songs twice in a batch

I did a search and this question came several times, but not a single response has been established.

Every song in my iTunes is a duplicate.  I know not how to "show the duplicate items.  It shows the original song AND all duplicates.  I need to remove hundreds of duplicates and it's tedious that * to select and delete each one individually.

Is there a way to isolate only the songs that are double - include the original - and not do a batch delete so there is only one version of each song in iTunes?

All my products are updated to the latest version.

There are probably some common element of the duplicates as date added.  Show duplicates. Sort by name and copy to stop playing.  Then sort by date added, and then select the first or last semester. Change the display back to the manual sort order which should be name and I hope you see that everyone else has been highlighted when you selected the half about before and after your list.  I find once I have my eye out I can scan a certain long playlist and see if there is something unusual like the same road being on different albums (maybe to find "replica" to help with this).

Save the first! The problem with a 'easy' way to sort duplicates is the traps.  For example, some duplicates point to the same file. If you tell iTunes to delete files, that you end up with all the tracks you kept being a broken link.  In addition, some duplicates are not really.  I have one or two albums where the artist had two tracks with the same name (perhaps one unplugged bonus). Those who will appear as duplicates.  An alternative to the rampage of duplicates is to move the files to another folder for wise keeping before you delete the entries.  I have a script that I had somewhere (probably an older version of the web site Dougscripts) and I do this duplicate. I can then run a second script (MIA list) from the aforementioned web site that reports broken links, and then I see if my treatment is messed up.

Be creative.

Edit: People sometimes have elements that appear as duplicates, but are really iCloud copies showing alongside those on their computer. Looking for a cloud icon. If this is the case, it is possible to hide things in iCloud.

  • How can I combine several songs in an album

    I have a number of songs grouped a fictional album that I named.  I chose a JPEG as the album art.

    How can I make this appear like an album in iTunes?  I tried options with the "part of a compilation" checked and unchecked.  Under 'get info' I have made sure that the name of 'album' is the same for all the songs.  I forced information such as track 1 of * for several songs.  I can't get anything to work for iTunes show my compilation as a single album.  Is this possible?

    Although unorthodox, it is possible, assuming that none of the songs are write-protected.

    As you suggest, the name of the album should be the same and to ensure that is to copy the title of your choice of a song to all the rest, thus eliminating typos. Assuming that there are different artists for some or all of the songs, The Album artist field must have 'Various Artists' and the part a compilation must be set as "Yes".

    This will remove courses these songs form any current album that they are on. Is your vision?

  • How to store the original and to remove some duplicate songs in iTunes on a PC Win7, which took place after iTunes to scan for music during a re - install?

    How to store the original and to remove some duplicate songs in iTunes on a PC Win7, which took place after iTunes to scan for music during a re - install?

    I recently had to format my hard drive and reinstall iTunes 12.3.2.35 on my Win7 PC. As part of the re - install iTunes, I clicked on the button scan for music.  This has created duplicates several of my songs.  I deleted then the duplicate songs from iTunes, but when I went to play a few songs a pop-up said "the song would not be because the original could not be found.  You want to locate? "When I tried to locate the song it is not found, but when I pulled the songs out of the trash they could be found.

    How can I keep the original and remove any duplicate songs in iTunes on PC Win7 which took place after iTunes to scan for music during a re - install?

    iTunes can create duplicates if the same content is added several times from outside the media folder when it is about to make copies of everything that is added to the library, or is added from an external drive that hosts the press kit that was disconnected during the launch of iTunes.

    Official notice of Apple on the duplicates is here: find and remove duplicates in your iTunes library. This is a manual process and article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as the lost coast and membership of playlist, or sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library as well as a removal and recycling the file will break all the others.

    Use MAJ > display > show items to reproduce exactly to display the duplicates because it is normally a selection more useful. You must manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sort the list by Date added can make easier select appropriate tracks, but it works better when executed immediately after the dupes were created.  If you have several entries in iTunes connected to a same file on the disk hard then don't not send to trash.

    Use my DeDuper script (Windows only) If you are not sure, do not want to do it by hand, or want to maintain ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this background thread , this post for detailed instructions and Please take note of the warning to back up your library before deduping.

    (If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to temporarily view or CTRL + B to keep displayed.)

    The latest version of the script can put away the dead links as long as there is at least a double live to merge his stats and membership of the playlist and must deal wisely when the same file has been added through multiple paths.

  • How to remove tabs, several spaces, quotes from data in the column.

    Hello

    How can we remove legs, several spaces, quotes from data in the column.

    Entry:

    H ope you 'are' Ingo w ell

    Output:

    H ope do you everything - there is a tab in hope and double-spaced in the well. This should be replaced by space. (Tab and multi spaces)

    I found myself with below:

    REGEXP_REPLACE (REGEXP_REPLACE (Replace (col, Chr (9),' '), ' () {2,} ', ' '),'[' ""]', ")

    Can we do more efficiently, your contributions are appreciated.

    I tried

    REGEXP_REPLACE (col,'[^ [a - z, A - Z, 0-9, Chr (0) - Chr (127) [: Space:]]] *', ") but the tabs still exist and that my data have German characters I can't go along with this.

    Hello

    Thanks for your suggestion. In the above expression, we still missed to replace the double quotes.

    So thought we must use another regular expression instead of REPLACE.

    Select REGEXP_REPLACE (REGEXP_REPLACE (' H ope you "are" d "Ingo ell w ',' [' |])) CHR (9) | + ',' '),'["" "]') twice;

    I suppose we must use at least 2 REGEXP to achieve and cannot get it with a single expression.

    Thank you

    Sorry, I removed single quotes, not double - quote.  (This shows one of the reasons why having a few lines of sample data is very useful).

    I think you don't need 2 separate functions.  I do not think that the two must be REGEXP_REPLACE; You can use TRANSLATE to remove both types of quotation marks in a single function call:

    TRANSLATE (REGEXP_REPLACE (col

    , '[ ' || CHR (9) | ']+'

    , ' '

    )

    , '?'''"',

    , '?'

    )

    Of course, you can use use REGEXP_REPLACE to remove the quotes, if you really want to.

    Powerful they are, regular expressions are basically only 1 thing, things not 2 or more different.  Sometimes, he can watch as they do several things, because they can operate on character classes, like the series containing the and the and a variable number of characters.  For example, the REGEXP_REPLACE function, I used above is simply changing expression expression x y, where x is 1 consecutive or more characters of a given set.  As we both demonstrated, we can have a separate function that changes from p to q, but I know not all built-in function which, in general, can change x to y at the time that it changes from p to q.  TRANSLATE comes close, but TRANSLATE only works if x, y, p and q are single (or NULL), characters not expressions.

  • How to remove all the songs in a playlist of my itunes library?

    My request here is, is it possible that I can select all the pieces that I have selected in iTunes and delete all of these songs in my iTunes library. To clarify I'm asking not how to remove and individual songs or how to remove a playlist, I want the songs within a time to be gone, or deselected somehow.

    Basically, I recently bought a new laptop and I've been moving all of my music from the old laptop to the new aid, sticks of memory of 8 GB that I don't have an external hardrive and would rather not pay for someone else to come and move the contents of my hard drive from one to the other. On my previous laptop, I had a playlist containing all the songs I want on my phone for synchronization purposes, as I had too much music to store it all. For reasons to keep this playlist and without having to build all over again I first transferred the music in the playlist of phone. The problem is I now want to transfer the songs that aren't in that playlist aswell, but I can't find anyway to select only the titles so that I can drag them into my memory stick. I can't delete the songs in the playlist one by one as there are almost 6000 titles in there then, obviously, that would be very time consuming.

    Thanks in advance for any help you can give

    I would recommend before you do anything destructive with your library you backup your iTunes for Windows with SyncToy library. It is also the tool I would recommend that you use to transfer the library to a computer, first back up and restore then (in a folder empty) to the other machine. Doing it this way means that you get the sides play heads of prosecution, playlists, date added, and that you don't have to erase and reload your content. It also ensures that you have a backup! Hard drives external are quite cheap and you should not skimp. That said, if the two computers are on the same network, you can use SyncToy to copy the iTunes folder from one to the other, if you open the folder music sharing on a computer, so it can be seen from the other.

    As for the original question, Ctrl + A to select everything in a playlist. SHIFT-DELETE to remove it from the library. But I really wouldn't like that.

  • Is there a way to create a smart playlist without several songs from the same album?

    I would like to create a smart playlist without several songs of his same albums.  Is this possible?

    Timo,

    Unfortunately not.

    Smart playlist logic analyzes each song individually and includes those who correspond to rules.  There is no way to write a rule that depends on other songs in the same album.

  • What is the order of the removal of the songs to an iPod Classic syncing > somehow my laptop has started the process of synchronization without my knowledge and removed approximately 2,000 songs of my iPod classic.  How can I identify which were delete

    What is the order of the removal of the songs to an iPod Classic syncing > somehow my laptop has started the process of synchronization without my knowledge and removed approximately 2,000 songs of my iPod classic.  How can I identify which were deleted songs?  I always manually move files to prevent this.  I'm on Windows 10.

    Has no way to know that...

    If your library iTunes music fits on the storage space of 160 GB of your iPod classic, you just set to automatically sync your entire library of music.  Then, it won't matter which has been removed and which do not get deleted, because your iPod music library is the same as your library iTunes music.  And iTunes it keeps this way, every time your iPod connection (or click sync , if already connected).

    If you don't want "everything" in your iTunes library on your iPod (understandable), you can create a playlist in your iTunes library with all the songs you want on the iPod.  Then, set to automatically synchronize the playlist to iPod.  Instead of manually managing iPod, you manually manage playlist in your iTunes library.  The iPod has no need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected), iTunes will update the iPod with the same changes.  The big advantage is, if something happens like what you describe, or needs to restore iPod (erased) or even if break you your iPod (and get a new), need you a few mouse clicks to solve the problem.  Just set it up to sync the same playlist once again, which exists in your library iTunes (not only on the iPod).

    You can post back for more information about how to use automatic synchronization to do what you want more easily, go ahead.

  • Windows Media Player 11 lists and plays each song twice

    Why Windows Media Player 11 list and play each song twice without being in a loop? Help me

    I have problems with windows media player 11 playing each son twice and it is very annoying.  How can I solve this problem?

    Sara: I suggest that you try to reset the media library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
    -Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. If its status is started, double-click on the service and click on stop.
    -Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
    -In this folder, delete the folder Media Player. If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
    -Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists.
