  If I understand your problem, I think it may have to do with the addresses stored in your address book. Thunderbird can display the name of your address book instead of the name of the post office, where corresponds to the e-mail address.

  Publishers diverts only message to the deleted items. Most of the time is a waste of time IMO.  Keeping in mind that spammers constantly change the address they send supposedly of, the only way to block a message of never gives to your computer is a message rule "delete server" .

  Is it to Outlook or Outlook Express?  If his Outlook Express, then your deleted items folder is probably corrupt.  Move all the messages that you want to keep out of the deleted items folder and then close OE and delete the file deleted items.dbx (hidden).  When you reopen OE, it will create a new one that is not corrupted.

  Check with the e-mail provider.  You have probably not all the correct settings.  It is likely to be the outgoing port number.
