• HP Envy Pheonix - move or delete the recovery partition

  I just bought a HP Envy Pheonix 800 and there a 120 GB ssd for the OS.  Ago a second partition that is for recovery that is as I wish to move or to get rid of so that I can have the other space available for files such as 120 GB can fill up pretty fast.

  If I create a defined backup drive I'll be able to get rid of this partition and it is part of c:?

  Or can the partition be moved safely to the other HD without any problem?

  As long as you create your recovery media set - see link below-, so it should be no problem deleting the partition (moving it usually breaks its functionality).  If you need to use the recovery media to perform a 'factory Reset', this process will reinstall the OS and recreate all of the original scores, including recovery D.

  Create recovery media - Windows 8.

  About the removal of the recovery partition, you can often do this through the application Recovery Manager as shown in the HP document on the link below.

  If this option is not available, you can simply delete the recovery Partition using Windows Disk Manager and extend c in the unallocated space.

  Hi, this is my first post, I write because I have experienced a problem with a HP ultra-livre.

  I just bought a HP Folio 13. I burned the DVD with data recovery (using the "Create recovery media" button in the HP Recovery Manager) and I would like to delete the recovery of data stored in the secondary partition (as they occupy almost all of it) by the button "Delete the recovery Partition" in also HP Recovery Manager. What worries me is if I remove the recovery of data stored in the partition of my computer, (whenever I need them) can I restore from the DVD I burned? can you assure me that it will work, or there might be no problem doing this?  If not, what is the sense to display a button named "Delete the recovery Partition"?

  In theory, the recovery discs that you do should work.

  In reality, this is not always the case.

  Please read these tales of woe on the link below (there are 324 pages of discussions) and decide for yourself what you want to do, because nobody would be able to make no assurance that your recovery disks will work.

  You can use the 8.1 Windows disk management utility to delete the partition. Right-click the icon to the left of the bottom and select disk management to call the disk management utility in Windows 8.1

  Try the command line option:

  Start cmd.exe as an administrator, then inside the window cmd, type

  DiskPart

  then, type diskpart

  list disk

  take note of the correct disc ID to clear

  type

  Select disk x

  (where x is the ID of your disk to erase)

  type

  clean

  your HARD drive will be erased completely

  Hiren's boot cd and gparted tool available.

  You must create a bootable CD or USB pen as media.

  I have the following computer: HP ENVY h8 desktop PC - 1437c.  I used the HP Recovery application to do a recovery on a flash drive disk. I also tried to delete it using the 8.1 windows Disk Manager, but there is no way to do there either. If I right click on the recovery Partition, I get only an option 'help '. Windows and HP did not want to provide more records with their computers, but they do not have a problem of screwing of MY hard drive that I bought and paid for. I should start to charge rent for the space.

  I just used the software and created another partition as drive D using all unallocated space. I can delete probably once again, or maybe I'll just use it as a storage device for my files instead of recovering files sofetware... Thanks for the help

  The "recovery Partition" in question is not a thing of Microsoft.  Ask that ever created it (the manufacturer of your computer) which will probably help you not because it's beyond their desire to do so.

  I suggest you create / have external media and numbers of series/product key in another place course of the computer itself.

  In your case of removal of Windows 7 as the operating system and using Windows XP, I would say it is safe.  If Windows 7 was used, I would recommend to keep in tact.  If the recovery disks are used, it must put the computer back to factory new, even with the Parition of recovery went.

• x 360: delete the recovery partition after installing Linux

  Hello

  My x 360 laptop with 10 Windows works fine. I just installed Linux dual boot (w. Windows 10) on three new partitions. The scores are as below. E, F, G partitions are Linux.

  I have these questions please:

  1. is the recovery partition (D) no longer, now that I have partitioned the disk? (I did a recovery USB flash drive when I bought the computer)

  2. is it safe to remove the recovery partition (D)?

  3. There is also a small partition of 980 MB. What is c? Is it safe to remove?

  Sorry, no.  You can not recover by using the HP Recovery partition after you change the partitioning scheme.

  As it is now, you might as well delete it.

  It will not hurt to remove it now because the HP Recovery works doesn'y work in any case.

  I know Macrium Reflect can backup and restore Windows and Linux distros because I have tried it, myself.

• Is it possible to recreate the recovery partition?

  I have this satellite plu pro which used to have as usual, a recovery partition on the HARD disk to restore to factory settings. I created a backup disk (in fact, I created it on a USB key) using the Toshiba backup disc authoring program then wiped the drive HARD clean, including the recovery partition. I have come to the point now, but where it would be useful to have that DOS partition and I wonder if it is possible to restore it to how it was originally?

  On the top of my head, I thought that maybe all I would need to do was wipe the HARD drive again, he re-partition, and then create a new partition, call the recovery and then simply copy the content of the key USB/disk backup for this partition. It would even work, or I have to do anything in particular. Assuming that it is even possible with this method?

  You can't do anything manually. If you want to have "initial state" again only thing to do is to reinstall the original recovery image using a created recovery media.

  Before installing recovery image starts the disk HARD integer will be removed, new partitions created recovery image is copied on the HARD disk and as final step recovery image is installed.
  Recovery of installation image and you will have "factory settings" again.

  I have a laptop Satellite C660D-17F and want to format my HDD, remove the recovery partition and recover the preinstalled Windows 7 and other software. I don't want to keep my own data, which are all stored already, I just want to be sure I can safely restore preinstalled stuff. I have a few questions that I need help to clear up before I go ahead.

  Am I right in thinking the dvd recovery disc I made when I got to my laptop has all the software and drivers that I need on this subject, the same that would have the recovery partition? If I do another room to spare in now just to be sure only will they have the out-of-box default stuff: OS, software and drivers on any of my data?

If I select "Erase the hard drive" (so I can wipe my hard drive and delete the recovery partition too) what happens after that? It will restore the OS and the software for the backup of dvd drive?   I actually prefer to be able to choose what programs preinstalled settle after that I have format, but I'm guessing that probably isn't possible and will settle for install everything and remove what I'm after. Or is there a way?

  Yes. Saved on recovery discs recovery image contains the operating system, all necessary drivers, specific Toshiba and utility tools and some additional software.

  Preinstalled Toshiba Recovery creator make recovery disc that includes the recovery image only. It has nothing to do with your personal data.

  After that, you should use recovery disks created for the recovery image installation.

  When you use the recovery disc for your laptop recovery image installation will have factory settings which include the recovery saved on the HARD disk image. To be honest I do not understand why you do not want to have this recovery image on the HARD drive. This allows the installation of recovery using recovery of HARD drive option. But of course you can delete it later for more free space on your HARD drive. Installation image that you can always use created for recovery discs-recovery DVDs.

I'm a little confused about this. There is not usually a single recovery partition? Are - this two recovery partitions from toshiba for windows 8?

  2: I read somewhere that it can occure problems with the system by deleting the recovery partition. is there a risk if I delete the above two recovery partitions? (not to mention that I don't have the recovery of files on the hard drive more) May - so that it affects the stability or the ability of the system?

  As I don't want to take the risk, I crash my system, I hope that someone knows about it!

  Its best to leave it as it is in case, you want to retrieve the computer laptop back to factory settings.

  I guess that one was created by Win 8. It contains the files to fix the system in case something would be a mistake of the last partition seems to be Toshiba that contains the recovery image files.

  Deletion of partition of Toshiba should not (usually) affects the ability of the system to the laptop, but nevertheless, you must create a recovery disk before you remove anything on the HARD drive.
  The recovery disc will return to the factory settings in case, that the system could be confused to the top.
