Removal of XPS 720 Raid 0

Hello

I just bought (and waiting for delivery of) a machine XPS 720 and I will be eager to delete the Raid 0 among the readers. I guess I would need to do the first action I think I have to reinstall the operating system later.

Could someone advise me how to do this? I think that once I have reinstall from the recovery disk that the Raid 0 will be just reimplementation, I don't have any experience with Raid any so I apologize if this is a silly question.

The machine does not start. I have a Dell short start screen, then a black screen with "Missing Operating System" in the upper left.

I ran diagnostic HARD drive under boot options F12 and the two discs. I started on the Dell operating system DVD and tried a repair of the BONE, which failed (details mentioned corruption of the partition table). I'm not sure how to fix a corrupt partition table. I opened a command prompt and use the bootrec.exe to repair the MBR (/FixMbr), who succeeded, but the machine would not boot. Bootrec.exe tried to repair the boot sector (/FixBoot), which failed. I tried to reinstall the operating system, but could not access the drive C:\ (no recognizable files on this drive system).

I am inclined to C:\ reformatting and reinstallation of Vista, but I have no experience working with RAID arrays and not sure how to proceed from here. I don't want to break the table. If I reformat C:\ and use the OS from Dell DVD to restore the system to "factory condition", that will be the original of the RAID 0 configuration restoration or will I need to do it "manually" after reformatting? If the latter, it can be done easily by entering the configuration and activation RAID 0 on two drives before reinstalling the operating system? If so, then using the operating system DVD Dell to restore the system to "factory condition" will be used to partition the table as it was shipped? I don't know that it is very obvious that I am well over my head here and quite clueless. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

  • XPS 720, video card and sound card upgrades?

    Greetings-

A friend gave me his old Dell XPS 720, which I updated to Win7-32.  The upgrade went fine--too easy in fact - and now I'm sorting on all other smaller issues.

I need a recommendation for a new graphics card and a new sound card.  The only thing I use this box is to maintain a website via Adobe CS4 Dreamworks, with the other tools in the suite and surf the net.  No game, no rendering heavy, etc.

    What I want-

-Decent color - graphics but no fan if possible.  The map in this area is now an INVIDIA GTS of the G-Force-250 - and the fan noise is terrible.  My needs are quite easy - is there a map smaller, quieter that I can put on this case in order to eliminate the a fan (which seems to be the highest fan in the Pack)?

Sound card - open what it is as long as it fits and works with this box and Win7-32.

    Thanks for your help/advice-

    -Sean

The integrated SigmaTel 9227 audio system should be good for your use. But any PCI sound card purchased locally would work or you could get an its PCIe x 1 card. Here's what we delivered =
    CT602 PCI Sound Blaster
    F7710 PCI Sound Blaster X - Fi
WW202 PCI Sound Blaster X - Fi XtremeMusic

You should check newegg for price and photos for the PCIe x 16 video cards. This link is sorted by lowest price to highest. None of them work so you have at least a 750w power supply. When you have found a video on the site map, I would look for it locally.

  • No sound from my XPS 720!

    System:

    XPS 720

    Quad Core Q6600, 2.4 GHZ

    Windows Vista Premium 32-bit SP2

    4 GB OF RAM

    XFI soundcard

    nVidia 9800GT (nine yesterday)

    WD 160 GB HDD

    SP2208WFP monitor

    AS501 Flat panel stereo speakers

    and much more

The problems started 2 weeks ago when my 8800GT video card quit on me.  I finally replaced it yesterday.  I now can't not all sounds on my computer, nada, nothing, nowhere in any way.  And I don't think I tried everthing to understand.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In no particular order... 1 restored the system to the factory settings.

2 disconnected and reconnected my speaker (it's an all in one model attached to the bottom of my screen, I use the earphones especially

so I do not need good speakers)

3 uninstalled, and reinstalled the sound card. (material)

4 uninstalled the old and reinstalled the latest drivers from the disc and soundblaster web site. (software)

5 I checked all forums, all 65 943million 297thousand 477 billion web sites (maybe OK I exaggerate a little bit).

In any case no sound, no wav, no windows startup sounds, no music, no games, no internet.

6 I went into Device Manager, audio video and game controllers to check if the drivers are recognized... and they are.  the device is functioning without conflicts.

7 I went to control panel, sounds, reading , and although there are 4 options work to choose that I selected the Creative SB X - Fi (of work) speakers as my default.

(The other 3 options are "SPDIF out Creative SB X - Fi (work)": "1 Live online!) Virtual cam (work)":"digital output (SPDIF) SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC (work) device.

8 I went into Control Panel, sound, recording , and there are also 4 options work.  I have selected Microphone Array monitor Webcam (SP2208WFP) (work) because my microphone is built into my monitor.

I've had this computer for 16 months with very little problem.  Video card all of a sudden the mouse and card now his acting upward.  The above settings are correct because I put them?  Is there something in the bios that I might have to change.  I've never been to the BIOS and I think it's a very scary place.lol

In any case, any other suggestions would be appreciated.

try turning off the audio sigmaTel. It is the motherboard audio and not needed by a card.

  • Bad clusters on XPS 720

    Hello

I'm not entirely sure if I am faced with a hard drive problem or if something might happen, so I thought I would start here.  A few months ago, I bought an XPS 720 (sheet copied below).  His summer work as a gem until a few nights ago.  As I was game (World of Warcraft, doubt it's important), I had a crash of the game.  Trying to restart, I have been informed that the data of the game files were corrupt and that he had to revert to a previous version.  Just enough, only download the previous version data files are also damaged.

I then tried to reinstall from my original disks in a different directory on the drive, even to download Windows XP SP 3, which must be plugged away for a bit, but invariably report a corrupted data file.  It seems that any file of significant size runs into this problem when I try to load on the drive, no matter from what source.

I also run CHKDSK/Scandisk what bad clusters reveals that he reports in 5 different places, supposedly lightens the, but appears again in repeated CHKDSK/Scandisk runs.  Also, just in case, I've updated my antivirus, ran a complete system scan who come clean.  I caught more later/more big S & D of Spybot, Adaware and ProcessList.  The only questionable content found were a few tracking cookies.

I'm kind of at my wit's end and I was wondering if I was just a butt hard drive should I call Dell to replace or what.  Your ideas and your tips are very much appreciated.

  • XPS 420 Raid Vista

Hello, Johnyik here: box have XPS 420 Vista multimedia Ultimate with raid 1, two 750 GB drives, which is a failure. My instinct is to improve and replace with 1 TB drives, but how this work with the existing software of Intel, IE. can I add a 1 TB drive, copy it, and then add a second procedure and repeat without Add - ons?

    Thank you very much!

    Johnyik

Unfortunately, no: If you do this, you will end up by with two 750 G readers again (a mirrored pair table cannot be larger than the smallest disk).

You will need to use a utility of cloning such as speakers or similar to make an image on an external drive, build the new table, and then restore the image.

  • Internal network card is cut off when I remove my XPS M1710 the docking station

    Hello

I have a xps M1710 laptop. I normally use a docking station and the internal network card works fine when the laptop is in the docking station. But now when I remove the laptop from the docking station for the network adapter is disconnected.

I know that it stops when the battery mode to save energy, but it is always closed when I connect to a power supply for laptop. I tried the plug before you turn on the computer and it does make a difference.

It's not happened before and I have to go to the internet on my laptop earlier, when not to use the docking station.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

  • XPS 420 raid problem

When you start speed up my system the Green lettering that says about the raid is now red, telling me that one of the players has a mistake. When windows starts, there was a decline by saying the raid was a failure, and the raid utility tells me there is a problem with one of the disks and I need to save all my data.

He is proberly a stupid question but how serous is it? is it possible for me to save every thing like making a total copy of the disc so I don't have to re install this new? I brought my computer in January this year is - dell can resolve this issue and remove the raid, so I have to readers instead of one.

I am not really satisfied with this than I expected so much more form a company like dell.

  • Desktop Dell XPS 8500 - Raid config does not

    All-

I received my new 8500 a few weeks ago '' that came with only (1) 2 TB HARD drive which has been loaded with the W8.  For the last week or two, I was setup with additional drives / cables / etc.

So now I have a 120 GB SSD that I use for the primary HARD drive I rebooted W8 on (due to the demand of the reinstallation discs) and also bought an identical 2 TB Seagate drive to set up a Raid 1 (mirror) configuration.

So inside it is connected like this:

SSD 120 (main OS drive) connected to the Sata port 0

DVD player - connected to port Sata 1 (white block... "I think that his port 1 but on the bios, he said port 5?)

2 TB HDD - connected to the Sata 2 port (second of the card)

2 TB HDD - connected to the Sata 3 port (again on the second series of the map)

I am eager to have both drives of 2 TB for the storage of data and when I record something on the first disc of 2 TB, I want that this mirror to the second disc of 2 TB for backups.  I want to keep the 120 GB SSD for just the OS and applications I can load later.

Now, everything looks fine on the disk management.  I have my main drive C: (120 GB SSD) / one of my 2 TB like H: / and the other 2 TB in M:

Everything has been initialized, configured, etc. under disk management (allocated all the space for the to 2 discs)

So I read tons of discussions and documents online and I know how you go into the BIOS and change Sata from AHCI RAID option.  When I do this I select to save changes and exit, and the pc tries to start up... gets to the Dell Logo and then fails.  He opted for the stop and restart and new come to the same part and stops.  She continues to do so until I go into the BIOS and change back the settings of Raid AHCI save / quit and it starts right in the operating system?

Not sure what the heck happens... any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you

    JackShack-

Just wanted to report and let you know that everything was fine.  I've initialized, created a partition, did a quick format and everything is visible in 'My Computer' as expected.

Before closing this thread, I just wanted to take your brain with some questions about the current configuration:

    1. whenever I have restart / reboot the pc, the RAID ROM or whatever the splash screen appears for a few seconds and I can't see where I configured my readers and everything looks good, then it goes into start the OS?  I guess it's normal to have the pc to start with this config RAID ROM because I configured the RAID parameters?

    2. in the BIOS to get the RAID set, I had to change settings such as "Secure Boot" (from activate to disable) and "Start Mode" (from UEFI to Legacy).  I guess these are the "required" settings for RAID work on the pc and I would like to leave them alone?

    3. when I boot up the OS and I go to the management of these two disks or workstation (1) only one of my drives of 2 TB arises (I know it is because I have RAID configured in RAID 1, so since it is mirroring its only showing a single disc.)  BUT how do I know in my mind that my data are successfully copy through two drives if only one shows?  I just take it for granted that everything is working as intended, or is it possible to see the data on both drives?  Just curious...

In any case, I think that's it.  I just wanted to say with real sincerity that I really appreciate your patience and all your advice and guidance while trying to get RAID configured on this computer.

    Thanks again!

  • The CPU is a removable/portable XPS 8700 to a different motherboard?

Hey guys, I recently bought a 970 and I was so happy with it I am planning a SLI version but cannot do with the mother motherboard (I've already transplanted 8700 courage on another matter) then I'd be OK transfer my CPU to a different motherboard? I already know that windows 8 is rooted in the mobo, so this isn't a problem because I'll just buy a new one. Thanks in advance for any help/response

    Should be no problem.

  • XPS 720 sleep problem

When I put the system to sleep, the power button flashes as he sleeps, but the Panel lights up and the fan remains running.  It is a new issue as it has always worked before.  I would like to help you to diagnose this problem.  I have installed a new hardware/software and I am at a loss as to why this is happening now.

    Hi Orionrph,

Unfortunately, there are 1 million reasons why desktop computers are unable to enter the mode 'sleep'. Here is an article on diagnosis troubled the sleep mode. This is where I would start.

  • Change RAID 0, RAID 1

I have a HP M7567c with a RAID configuration. Originally it was set up as a RAID0 (Striping). I would change in RAID1 (mirror).

I didn't find anyway to do it easily.

    Issue.

The windows recovery resets the RAID, so I can do RAID1?

Is there another way to do this?

    Basic information

OS: windows XP Media Center Edition

    HD: 2 300 g drive Raid 0

    Thanks for your response

    David

If you want to migrate from Raid 0, Raid 1, here are the steps:

    1. first create a backup of your files

    2. create a set of recovery disks

    3. remove the existing table (Raid configuration) via Bios Raid or a GUI utility Raid (matrix of Intel or NVIDIA)

    4. create a new table

    5 perform the system recovery

    6. restore the backup files

You are right, the XPS 700 has no support for Core 2 Quad processors.

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19250725

It relates to the purchase of a card mother XPS 720, I used Google and found the following:

    https://www.Google.com/?gws_rd=SSL#q=Dell+XPS+720+motherboard

Do not forget that the XPS 720 motherboard requires a block of power SUPPLY Dell highly proprietary:
