    Hi nfreije,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. you receive an error message when you try to remove the fonts from the computer?

    3. What is the reason to remove the fonts from the computer?

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and try to remove the fonts from the computer.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

I'm having this problem on this Vista laptop that I am now on and on my desktop which has been upgraded to Windows 7.

In the particular case on this laptop, I'm trying to reduce my list of fonts to eliminate those I do not need or use.  I selects a font to delete, press DELETE, it says that windows needs the permission to delete this, I give permission.  Then he said that I need permission and that it only gives options of "Try Again" or "Cancel".  I have this problem with all types of files and I'm really tired of this garbage.  Help, please.

    Hello

    ·        What do you mean by all types of files? What are the other files are you trying to delete, they are system files?

A font is a system file and to delete a system file, you must disable the UAC (user account control) and check if you are able to delete the file on the system. Follow the steps mentioned in the article below.

Note: Turn on UAC, once you did delete the files.

Enable or disable the User Account Control

  • How to remove fonts that it's 'in service', even if it's not?

Yesterday, I installed a font "Helvetica Neue Condensed Bold.ttf". Today, while on Tumblr, I noticed that the police were different, or even the police, I installed yesterday. I also noticed the font used for many other websites that I went too and I know that is not a coincidence because the same sites display a more regular font such as Arial or whatever they use. This font is VERY difficult to read, a lot of letters is displayed as the same as 'I', 'i' and 'L' are all the same line shape. As well as the 'o' and 'C', both appearing as an "O".

I tried everything I possibly could to remove this font in my folder of fonts. I really one computer savvy. I can't even delete it through the command prompt. It really gets on my nerve, this font is not legible in some way, and I don't know why in the world the police is used by default for some Web sites that have not normally.
I read the report, so you have full administrator permission is required, but even that left me with no result.
Please help me solve this problem, I had much rather not have to throw my computer out the window.

    Hi Justin,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community and thanks for posting the question.

According to the description, you can not remove a font.

The Windows fonts folder itself is using the font, so why you cannot remove fonts - that is the same tool that you use to remove the font is using said police and so the lock file!

    When in click Fonts folder:

Organize > Layout > uncheck "Aspect" > now try to remove the police.

    Hope this information helps.

  • How can I remove fonts in PS CC?

  • How to remove fonts and re - add the cc of InDesign

Im trying to grope although some questions my indesign trial, I just loaded keep saying "indesign is not working, windows is looking for a solution" then the only option is to close.

I tried uninstalling, reinstalling same update to windows 8.1 (on my sony 21-press). It didn't fix it.

I found some instructions here but I do not understand how to actually find and delete fonts... I found some somewhere in a folder called PFM, (cut and copied to my desktop) and now I forgot where to put them back! I think I was tired all day trying to solve this. And no technical support available on weekends...

Hope that someone would have a suggestion... (in laymen with certain capabilities to resolve the conditions)

I'm trying to follow these instructions that indesign CC hangs after startup - Windows 8

    and these https://forums.adobe.com/message/5431757#5431757#5431757

But I don't know if this means Windows fonts, or fonts adobe where to find or... (and if that's the real problem?)

    -do my best!

    1. exit InDesign

2 remove all the fonts in the fonts folder and add a small batch of fonts in

    3. launch InDesign

    4. If it does not crash, quit InDesign and add some more fonts.

If it hangs, you know one of this batch is the problem, close down more far.

e.g. divide policies into halves, add half of the fonts in > if crashes > add half of the batch that causes the crash > half of that to reduce the list

Look out for fonts with special characters in the name. Some examples of fonts problem reported by the community are:

    • Ithornet
    • TYPO3 - Medium.ttf
    • Typo3Normal.ttf
    • Batang.ttf
    • LET Savoye
    • IndyPimp
    • ImpactLabel

The problem with fonts has been fixed, as far as I know, so this isn't the problem, if you are patched to version 9.2 of ID CC. You should be able to reinstall those that you deleted by a right click on it and choose Install.

As to which is the cause of the crash, I really have no idea, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is a driver problem. There is a forum dedicated, monitored by staff from adobe at https://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup/creative_cloud_faq which may be able to offer more help. I'm going to suggest you re-post there rather than have me move this thread to the off-chance someone here might have some thoughts as well.

  • Why did you remove @font-face support of Firefox5 (Yes, tested it on several machines, works fine in all other browsers & firefox4!)

    .....

    @callumw, you have these rules:

    @font-face{font-family:"Tiger Rag LET";src:url("/font/tigerrag.ttf")} @font-face{font-family:"Tiger Rag LET";src:url("/font/tigerrag.eot")}
    @font-face{font-family:"Century Gothic";src:url("/font/gothic.ttf")} @font-face{font-family:"Century Gothic";src:url("/font/gothic.eot")}
    @font-face{font-family:"Lithos Pro";src:url("/font/lithospro.ttf")} @font-face{font-family:"Lithos Pro";src:url("/font/lithospro.otf")}

Firefox gets the second files two police in each case. Because Firefox does not support the .eot format, these two policies will not work in Firefox. Can you try to change the order of these two and see if that helps?

Edit: Century Gothic is already on my system, while the first is the most critical.

  • When I remove fonts in Windows, they are always available in InDesign

  • Self-hosted fonts removed

Among several other horrible issues with this update, a self-hosted police disappeared. I found it in the library from my Mac, but apparently the only copy I can find in my system is in a format that Muse will not let me import. My only option seems to be to buy the police all over again and start from scratch.

This last update ruined a huge site that I'm working on next to a deadline. Apparently, my backup was not good enough. I had to reinstall 2015.2, and I just pray that I can restore my site somehow. I am so angry with Adobe right now.

I think you have a serious issue with your machine/OS. In my view, it is simply not possible, as the Muse removes fonts. And it is not possible that a Muse destroyed one update a backup not used a document, as you say it in a different thread.

I think that, you have to be a little more careful with these incriminations.

  • Change fonts

I would like to remove some of the fonts that was installed in Windows XP SP3.  I went to Panel of control under policies and highlighted a policy to remove, then click Remove under file - nothing happens, I get a warning of the screen that says I can't delete the file.  So, how to remove fonts?

  • System supports all fonts are "in use" when I try to delete

I'm trying to remove some non-system fonts I have installed.  Whenever I try, no matter what the police told me that the police cannot be deleted because it is "in service".  It does not matter if I close all program running and check that no processor (I use Open Office) are running via Task Manager, the system I cannot remove all fonts.

    Help, please.

  • How many fonts can sit safely on Windows 7. And is a necessary like Extensis Suitcase font manager with windows 7?

I had problems with too many fonts in Windows XP, but now I'm wondering if Windows 7 can handle more.

Currently I have about 2000 fonts managed by Extensis Suitcase and wanted to know if I should stay with that or just add them all to Windows 7 fonts?

Any help would be greatly appriceated.

    Thank you, Ryan.

    Hi Ryan,

Addition of extra fonts could not cause problems in windows 7. There's more 100 000 existing digital fonts that you can add to windows 7.

Your best choice is to contact one of the fonts listed on the Microsoft Typography Web site.

  • How install a font when my computer gives me NO opportunity to do? (I tried it all)

My computer won't let me install fonts.

I know I'm very late to this conversation, but it seems that each forum help tech I go about it is 5 or 6 years. So hoping to get a response. I'm a graphic designer and desperately need to use other fonts than I have on my computer.

I tried all the methods suggested by the forums and help Windows on the Internet:

-J' tried to double click on the TrueType font file. Nothing happens.
-J' tried right clicking on the TrueType font file for hitting "install". There's no option 'Install' in the menu dropdown.
-J' tried to drag / drop the TrueType font file in Control Panel > fonts. It does not appear.
-J' tried to copy and paste the TrueType font file in Control Panel > fonts. It won't let me paste.
-J' tried to go in Control Panel > fonts and clicking file > install font. There is no "Install font" option under file.
-J' tried to move the TrueType font file to my desktop to install it from there. It cannot move on my desk.
-My user account is an administrator account. There is absolutely no reason that my computer should restrict to install anything.

Thank you, and I beg you to answer.
