Remove my modem connection?

I have a few computers on a small network ethernet, via a residential gateway (i.e., router), which allow computers to share files and printers, and share an Internet connection cable. Most of the computers on my network is not yet have PSTN modems and (fortunately), I had the need to use remote access services in more than six years. However, in my IE Options CONNECTION tab it says that MSN remote connection has been implemented.

Sometimes, I received a box of popup with some sort of message about the remote connection and work offline. Of course, I'm not looking for a modem connection. I have changed since my connections to NEVER A CONNECTION settings, but I really want to just remove the connection distance for not having any conflicts in my system or Internet access in the future.

My question: would I be causing no problem for me on the road if I just remove this connection remotely, and if deleting it would not be a problem, so I have correctly and safely how so? Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think that delete a unused dial-up connection can cause problems.  To be completely safe:

1. make a system restore point.
2. open the network connections, right click on the connection file and delete it.
3. in case of problems, restore the system to the way it was before deletion.

Sorry, but I don't see any reasonable reason for it.

  • Vista Home premium - cannot remove a network connection.

I have administrator rights and remove button in "manage network connections", I get a pop up - but the connection that it does not remove.  Several reboots.
    Pls advise.  Thank you

    Hello

Follow the steps below to remove the old network connections on a Windows vista computer.

    (1) use your mouse to click on the start menu, and then select Control Panel.

    2) click the button on "Network and Internet" Control Panel and select network and sharing Center.

    3) click on the tab "manage network connections".

    (4) find the old network connections you want to remove in the scroll bar. According to the number of connections you currently have in Windows Vista, it is possible that you need to scroll a bit to find the one you want to delete.

    5) click on the old connection you want to remove.

    6) click on the button 'delete '.

    (7) to confirm your selection by pressing 'Yes' when asked if you are sure you want to remove the connection. You can also choose to press 'Cancel' or 'No' to return to the previous screen and prohibit the removal of the connection.

    (8) notes that you can also change the network through the Network Wizard. Simply click on start, then "Connect To" and "show all connections".

    (9) select the network connection you want to change by clicking right on it and selecting the option you want. You can choose 'Disable' the connection, which would roughly have the same effect that completely removing, making it inactive.

    (10) press the button 'Delete' after clicking on a network connection in the network connection window. This will completely remove the connection in the same way that detached from the control panel.

    Hello

Thanks for the reply. Refer to these methods and check the status of the issue.

    Method 1:

    a. open the charms bar, click/click on settingsand then click / tap on the Network icon.

    b. click right , or tap and hold on the wireless network (ex: Brink-router) in the list of networksand click/click on forget this network.

Note: Windows does not provide the option 'Forget this network' if there is a profile high-speed Mobile which is supplied by the carrier. The option appears only when a custom or user profile is created.

Note: 'Forget this network' is not available for networks wireless listed that not create you a network profile for.

    Method 2:

Alternatively, you can refer to this method:

    a. press the Windows and X keys .

    b. click on (Admin) command prompt.

    (c) in the command prompt, copy and paste the following command and press ENTER.

NOTE: this command will give you the list of all profiles of wireless network on your PC.

    netsh wlan show profiles

    d. in the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER.

NOTE: this command will delete the wireless network profile.

netsh wlan delete profile name = "WirelessProfileName".

For example, if I wanted to delete my profile from the 7shp (name) listed wireless network, I must type the following command exactly.

    " netsh wlan delete profile name = ' ' 7shp '

    e. close the command prompt and check the status of the issue.

    I hope this helps.

  • Completely remove sdconf.rec connection server VMware view Horizon 6

    Greetings,

I want to completely remove the sdconf.rec file downloaded from my connection to the server VMWare View Horizon 6.0.1. In previous versions, it was that I had to delete the Sdconf.Rec of C:\Windows\System32 and set the attribute to EAP-SecureIDConf under CN = < servername >, OU = server, OU = propriΘtΘs, DC = vdi, DC = VMWare, DC = int '0' but this attribute does not exist in version 6!

Just deleting the Sdconf.REC file does not work, after doing that (even after a reboot) it always says "a Sdconf.REC file has been downloaded" when I check the settings of the connection to the server.

Does anyone know how to delete this file in version 6? I'm this close just removed the server connection and security together and do a complete reinstall.

    Thanks in advance!

    Bram

    bverm wrote:

Haha, Yes, it seems I was typing the variable wrong, changing the attribute now works, but I still see "an sdconf.rec file is already downloaded" even after change to the attribute and remove the sdconf.rec file in system32, even after a reboot of the connection to the server.

This should be OK. What you did is invalidated the sdconf.rec file. It probably will always exist, but watch to see if it has been invalidated. that is, it should now be much smaller than your original and so not usable, which I think is what you wanted to achieve.

If you want to just disable the RSA SecurID authentication, which can be made in view administrator.

    Please confirm.

  • Cannot remove the modem driver

I can't delete the driver for my modem 105 BT travel as it says I need administrative permissions. It's screwing up my Outlook Express XP.

I want to remove the driver because I recently went wi fi. I get messages in Outlook Express it can't find the box and think it's because it is confused with the two modem & wi fi drivers.

The existence in your computer the driver for an old DSL modem is probably NOT the cause of your problem of OE.

On the other hand, part of BT to uninstall instructions (see link below) appeal to you run two BT applications on the CD supplied with your modem (remid and Doctor105).  I don't know what they're doing, but at least the latter seems to make some changes in the Windows registry.  The name of the former ("remid") suggests that some 'identification' is 'removed', so I guess it is possible you may have problems connecting to the Internet using another device without removing this 'id'.

You can use a web browser (IE, Firefox, etc) to surf the Internet?  If so, your computer is 'find' belong to the net via your wifi connection, and it doesn't seem likely that any vestige of the old installation of modem would affect OE but not your web browser.

You can either post the full error or messages of OE here or (for a better chance of a solution) in theNetworking, Mail, and getting online forum: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/xpnetwork/threads

I tried to uninstall via the control panel and all programs for the 105 modem entry. I have permissions on this computer and have just checked. When I try this I get the following

    Error loading newdev.dll

then I press cancel and down administration administrative privileges are required to install, uninstall, or configure the DSL software.

You have disconnected the Voyager 105 modem?  If so, perhaps it is the cause of your difficulty.  BT uninstall directions are here; Note step 3 ("Please do not disconnect the blue modem USB cable until you are prompted"): http://www.voyager.bt.com/selfhelp/shc/usbuninstall/105_uninstall_win.htm

Of course, that boards do not unplug the modem until you are prompted are contradicted by advice of BT here:http://www.voyager.bt.com/selfhelp/shc_usb.htm

So, if you already tried to uninstall with the connected modem and received the newdev.dll error, disconnect the modem and try again.

The usual method of dealing with uninstall problems is to reinstall the software, and then try uninstalling again.  From what I've seen, this has probably won't work for you.

I saw several messages regarding this issue, much, but not all, associated with the BT Voyager 105.  Most of the positions is unanswered; Some suggest you uninstall IE 8; but the following post seems the most promising:

    http://www.hmmm.IP3.co.UK/BT-Voyager-105-Newdev-dll-error.shtml

I think that the issue is really something in BT installation instead of file of Microsoft newdev.dll files (note the contradictory comments at the end of the web page above).  Normally, I would not recommend downloading a dll file, but I scanned the ago today (you should also, if you decide to download) and it seems to be malware free.  Just make sure that you copy the newdev.dll file that is currently in C:\Windows\system32 (which should be version 5.1.2600.5512 or perhaps later) to a safe place (for example, your desktop computer) and replace it when you are finished.

If using the old newdev.dll file works for you, follow the additional steps of the BT uninstall directions above.

  • CTCE Officejet 6500 Fax Modem connection has more

    ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

HP 6500 Officjet has more.  Time Warner Cable installed a telephone modem TWC eMTA and split the line of incoming telephone into the wall jack, while retaining the original outlet in Officejet 6500 has more connection as indicated in the manual of HP.

However, he then disconnected the connection back to Officejet 6500 has more to the telephone base unit, even if the installation HP statement indicates the connection shall be connected directly to the telephone receiver.

The technician then connected the TWC eMTA modem to the second part of the splitter to the wall outlet.  The phone works perfectly, but in the race a fax test fails a tone detection.

The fax test print States to remove the splitter and connect the fax directly to the wall socket, but remove the separator is not an option, as there is no connection to the eMTA TWC telephony modem.   The manual mentions also using a digital-analog filter or converter, like the Officejet requires an analog connection.

My understanding is that the reason for the direct connection from the HP device to the telephone receiver allows the fax listening to the phone line for a tone and a fax signal and respond to the line after 6 rings and to send a fax.

Don't attempt to send a fax test fax test HP 'No Answer' number statements, which means that the Officejet had no dial tone.

Suggestions for connections that operate, or what analog digital filter or converter to use, would be appreciated, like TWC has no solution.

I thought I had solved this case myself by disconnecting all connections made by this technology TWC and followed the manual of HP.  I started with the newly installed separator and reconnected the separator to the input line of the OfficeJet and connected the output of the OfficeJet directly to the phone base unit.  To get the connection telephony TWC, I connected a second line of the second take of the splitter modem telephony TWC (the latter which is connected to the TWC cable output).  Problem solved: NO - Fax tone, a tone phone and yells, but none of the calls incoming.  To get the incoming phone calls, had to disconnect the line from the phone base unit and reconnect the unit on base of telephone modem telephony TWC by result, incoming and outgoing calls, but not the Officejet, so no fax tone.

    =================================
I am not employed by H - P & I do not look for congratulations, fair solutions.

Gemini02: Thanks a lot for your attempt to help.  It turns out that he didn't need an analog filter or a converter.

'Knowledge-information technology-better than you' technology contract for Time Warner Cable didn't know what he was doing in a first step in dealing with the HP Officejet, or much else, as his only totally disconnected from the Officejet actions.

First of all, to the phone outlet, where the incoming landline connected initially to the Officejet, he installed a useless Dispatcher and reconnected the Officejet to it (a line now dead).  The connection to the Officejet was to be performed to a modem (direct line), Time Warner phone instead.  All of the remaining connections should have been left as they were.  Instead, this tech then connected the telephone base unit Panasonic TWC telephony modem (where a live telephone connection) and the outgoing line of Officejet to the second connection on the split bar newly installed (a deadline) and therefore no dial don't tone for the Officejet.

As I had no idea about the operation of the outlet now amended, there had me time again unplug everything and realize that the incoming connection was not this splitter connected outlet and , but in fact the modem telephony. TWC

Connected the Officejet directly to the modem telephony TWC, culminating in the Officejet tone.   The outgoing line the Officjet directly linking to the Panasonic phone plant, leading to the tone at the telephone base unit.  Sent a fax requesting a return fax, resulting in 4 traffic lights and answering machine pickup, and after 6 rings, received a fax.  The splitter is unplugged from the wall dead and thrown in the trash.  The problem is finally solved.

Thanks again for all the responses.

  • WAG320N and cable modem connection

    I have a small question,

You could point me to some reference material on my WAG320N configuration to use my modem cable via Ethernet 1 port. I saw that he mentioned it's possible, but I have been unable to me sorting.

And before ask you, I put the DSL router that I move in the next 12 months and my new base will not have access to cable internet and I'll be going back to DSL.

    Thanks in advance,

    Phil

Actually in this case your bad, but thank you for the quick response.

After a few game, it seems that the WAG320N is specifically configured to configure Ethernet Port 1 WAN port and you can route all internet traffic through the modem cable via the WAN port, you just set up.

If anyone is interested, then load up your routers page 192.168.1.1 default config.

    Click Setup

    - Ethernet

Next to Ethernet connection: select the button labeled radio like Port WAN

Most of the stand-alone cable modems will have a static IP address both under the list of connection

down box  Select the static IP address.

Enter the IP address of your cable modem, subnet mask, gateway and DNS address by default. (These items must have all be supplied by your ISP)

And finally click on Save settings at the bottom of the screen to validate your changes.

Then connect to your WAG via the Ethernet switch or wireless connection and you should be good for surfing the web.

I hope this helps someone else who tries to use a modem cable through the WAG320N or similar device.
