REMOVE ROOTLESS EL CAPITAN 10.11.5

10.11.5 installed today... but lacked access recovery partition of the El Capitan to temporarily REMOVE Rootless!  Only previous OS Yosemite recovery Partition...

Thank you.. I hope you can help?

Unless you have installed El Capitan to another drive, the recovery partition should have also been upgraded 10.11.5.

If you have installed El Capitan in another drive or partition, restart and hold down the Option key to enter the Boot Manager. You should see two recovery partitions. Choose 10.11.5 and start one.

  • Blank thumbnails for people under macOS Sierra

Hi all! I use an iMac 21.5 ' (end 2013) with the latest Mac OS update of the Sierra (10.12 for the moment).

I found a strange behavior of the Photos app, using the people album.

With the help of pictures under Mac OS X El Capitan, I crossed the long process to define all the faces of my friends for each image of my iCloud photo library; I also removed all faces unwanted by pressing the x key.

Under the Sierra, the Photos app crossed another analysis of the faces still: all the faces I confirmed under El Capitan are still there, but in addition there are plenty of new tiles white in the section "add people" that I can't delete or use.

I thought something during the scan of people was wrong, so I rebuilt the library of photos, but nothing has changed.

It turned out that the blank tiles are people I removed (under El Capitan) by pressing the x key. In fact, if you duplicate one of the images affected by this issue, you will find that it recognizes the new faces and the application lists correctly under the section "add people". If you open the image and remove the circles of those faces, you will find that the section "add people" now have black thumbnails.

I think it is a bug. Next week, I'll call Apple support report.

In my opinion, the good feature should be the following:

    • If people are recognized on a new photos, these are listed under the heading "add people";
    • If you want to hide them, faces are still recognized by the software, but they do not appear in the list of people;
    • If you want to remove them (by pressing the x on the circle button), the must go to the section "add people" or the "hidden people" section You should be able to rescan single image, image group or the entire library, if you want to return to the previous state.

I have the same problem, but no solution.

And I think that the screen "add people" is not very useful, just what is actually more complicated (Photos hiding in Sierra Photos)

All photos should go the list of 'People' where I can either name or delete (I like your proposal of new analysis to recover).

I would use 'Hide' for the less well-known people on the main list. But according to leonie it also excludes their pictures of memories.

  • I can't erase the free space in the disk utility, where is he?

After the installation of El Capitan, I can't erase free space in disk utility, where is he? How can we erase files deleted safely with El Capitan?

Secure deletion has been removed from El Capitan. There are 3rd party apps that can, but it's a bad idea on SSDS.

  • Please simplify

Hi, I'm not very technically savvy so all the answers just confuse me even more. Can someone please simplify the answer to the question, what I can or I can assure not empty the trash? Thank youP

Well empty the trash has been removed from El Capitan.

  • When emptying the trash does not

I can't get rid of some files created by page on El Capitan (v.10.11.3) .png. Says WARNING cannot be deleted because are used, but they are not in use. Have tried the option key when deleting key. Impossible to find a safe option to empty the trash. Unlocked icons. Running the disk utility. I'm stumped as to how to get rid of them.

The Secure Empty Trash feature has been removed in El Capitan, because he could not work constantly and also shorten the life expectancy of the SSD.

Have you tried to restart and then empty the trash?

  • Is the another great category why my computer is slow?

I get a lot of beach and the General slow balls spinning this month.

One thing I checked last week my storage status. 237 free GB to 999 GB and 618 for which is the category "other"!  I hate this wave "other" category. Here is a screenshot.

You can see that I have barely keep anything on my internal drive. I don't have a lot of applications. The ones I use regularly is Mail, Safari, Lightroom and Photoshop.

A few years ago I learned about a procedure in disk utility to completely erase the disk space, but when I went to do, I couldn't find more, as El Capitan got rid of him. Is there something similar I can do?

Is this large amount of yellow on the bar as alarming as it looks and probably why my computer is slow?

    Thank you!

p.s. in another thread, I will post about a glitch that happens with my trash. Maybe it's related.

The function of Secure Erase of Trash was removed to El Capitan. One of the reasons was that it worked as expected. The other is that it reduces the life expectancy of the SSD.

I would suggest your download and install OmniDiskSweeper. When you rum ODS, it will tell you the names of the files and folders that use the most space. You can then decide for yourself or ask us what can be detected or moved.

The first step in the process must be a full backup of everything.

  • "Secure Empty trash", gone?

I recently bought an iMac late 2013, running OS X 10.11.1 Yosemite. I can't find the "Secure Empty Trash" option anywhere. I've seen some answers to similar questions, but it's not even an option under my, Finder > Preferences > advanced. (see screenshot). This option has been eliminated with the current OS X?

    Thank you!

It was removed in El Capitan.

  • Can't disable/remove user guest - El Capitan

I'm on a late 2013 iMac 21.5 inch El Capitan running.

I can't disable/remove a user account called. The minus sign "-" is grayed out.

It seems that this "guest user" account is also that stop me to upgrade to Sierra but that's another topic.

    Thanks for any input.

I have exactly the same on all my systems regardless of the version of the OS. It's normal. This account is owned by the system, so you cannot remove it. It will affect your facility Sierra as there has been no impact on me.

  • Removed Dylibs of Tcl/Tk in El Capitan update

    Hello

I upgraded a computer to El Capitan and discovered that a bunch of the dylibs used by Tcl/Tk have been removed from their repertoires by the update.  Img package, for example, consists of a bunch of libraries in System/Library/Tcl/8.5/Img1.4.  They have just removed by the update.

Before the update (10.10.5), this directory contained 23 dylibs.  After the update (10.11.5), no dylibs.  You can verify this by checking the directory, or by typing tclsh from the Terminal prompt and try the command package requires Img.  Work before the update, found after the update package.

I tried to chat with a technical support on this issue, but I think the tech support person thought I was talking some downloaded 3 application of part (Tcl/Tk is delivered with all the Mac Out of the box, just like Perl, Python, awk, grep, etc..)  They could only hazard a guess why some files may be missing, in general, a Mac to date.

My question is twofold: first, can anyone confirm that it's not just my machine?  Secondly, how can I present this as a bug report?  I tried to find where to submit it, but I only find options as-live chat with a guy or talking to someone on the phone.  I don't want to chat about it, let me submit it as a bug.

can anyone confirm that it's not just my machine?

It is not only your machine. I don't know if there is never shared in this folder libraries, but there is none now. If they were part of a third-party facility, they would indeed have been removed, because third party software are not allowed in the file system (with a few exceptions.)

I want to present it as a bug.

I doubt that Apple would consider it as a bug. They say that if you need components that are not included in the operating system, you must install a distribution of Tcl/Tk to third party compatible with El Capitan. It installs in the folder root of the library.

  • Remove weather cities in El Capitan

How can I remove a city from the weather in notifications in El Capitan?

  • Recently upgraded to El Capitan, I had that problem for Mail stop unexpectedly when I saw some posts.  I followed the steps and was able to remove the trouble messages.   Now I can't restore the mail window message viewer component.

Recently upgraded to El Capitan, I had that problem for Mail stop unexpectedly when I saw some posts.  I followed the steps and was able to remove the trouble messages.   Now I can't restore the mail window message viewer component.  When I try to catch the separator bar to go back to the left, only half of the small arrow icon and line appears, and it cannot be moved.   Can open the message by double clicking a message viewer.

    Hi there, alicefrompa!

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple. From your post, I understand that you do not see the Message Viewer box which allows you to read your e-mails; only see you the Inbox that includes a brief overview of the message and are unable to restore access using the separator bars. I have had this happen to my own Mail app and am happy to let you know how I could fix!

You are really on the right track - you want to roll your mouse over the divider between the Inbox and sections Message Viewer (which should now be on the extreme right edge of your mail window) and drag it to the left.  When you click on the receipt/Message Viewer box, the cursor turns into a line continuous black with a single arrow pointing to the left. When you see the cursor change, click with the left button of the mouse and (while holding down the mouse button in) drag the combination line / arrow to the left. You may need to drag a little further than before to get it. I had to hang mine almost completely in the middle of my Mail app before the display of the message box appeared.

From there, you should be able to adjust the boxes to your widths you want as expected.

If you are still not able to get the display of the messages visible after have try this, here are a few more things that you can do.

    1. Press command + O on your keyboard.
    2. Exit the Mail application, and then press on and hold the SHIFT key on your keyboard while reopening.
    3. Restart your Mac by selecting the menu  Apple in the upper right of your screen restart from the menu drop down.

    See you soon!

  • removal of the updated iPhoto once updated at El Capitan

I've updated to El Capitan and the Photos. I have no problem with that. All my pictures are here since I've updated entitlement that I bought the computer last fall. However, the updated iPhoto from March 2015 is in my App Store, but it will not through. I'm happy with Photos and not return to iPhoto. But how can you remove the upgrade for any application that came with the computer, and then came not supported of Apple? I don't want to have to remove Photos and lose my photos.

You can delete the iPhoto library - it is totally separate and remove it has no effect on the Photos - you can archive everything first as a backup in case jjust

You can delete the iPhoto application if you'd be best to keep because it's back can be difficult or versatile

  • EL CAPITAN: Cannot remove multiple tags in a folder

    Hello

I've recently updated (and unfortunately if) to El Capitan and experienced multiple issues, which I'm currently talking with Apple technology. The most recent discovery is that I can not remove many tags applied to a folder of items. I have to delete them individually, and it's a pain because I added more than 100 items in this folder.

If anyone knows the same thing, please let me and Apple know.

Inside this folder, select all the files. Right-click on one of the selected files. In the context menu, click tags... Back space all the tags that appear in the text field. Press ENTER. This will remove all tags (including several tags in a file) all selected files.

    Tested: OS X 10.11.4
