Remove the memory limits on the virtual machine to the customer?

Hi all

I have a little trouble to run this script, I use the latest version of vSphere PowerCLI and 5.1

Get-Cluster "my group" | Get - VM | Get-VMResourceConfiguration | where {$_.} {MemLimitMB - don't '-1'} | Game-VMResourceConfiguration - MemLimitMB $null

I get the following error:

Hi all

Never mind, I just realized the used user account didn't have permissions change it, everything works fine.

  • Remove the custom URL assembler

    Hi all

I am trying to remove our custom URL assembler. I've updated in all of my models to use queryassembler. Now, but when I try to remove the entry from servletrequest.properties, it gives the error below when testing to make my home page.

[2015-08-06 13:18:49, 736 UTC] [ERROR] [http-Apr-8001-exec-1] [fatwire.logging.cs.request] COM.FutureTense.Common.ContentServerException: ContentServerException: (error of the Client: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: application of RHN Satellite Server for page cannot continue: (name of the page is missing).)  Parameters: {Browser = Netscape, errno = 0, SystemAssetsRoot = / cs/futuretense_cs /, empty =, errdetail = 0, null =} retrieving data by remote Satellite Server) code error: BAD PARAMETER

But if I keep my entry of assembler, it works very well. Any body can tell me if I need to change any other file as well.

    Thanks in advance.

If you use a Vanity URL you need a Web server to your appserver to remove the appserver port and write a rule of re - write.  Read the documentation (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29542_01/doc.1111/e29636/config_vanity_url.htm) for more information.

  • Someone removed the custom attributes field

Is it possible that PowerCLI can fire an event if someone removed the field of the custom in vCenter attributes?  I take more precisely on the class in Administration > custom attributes in vSphere client 5.x.  For some reason a field that he had to show VM assignments is missing, and I'll try to find what happened to her.

    Course, use the CustomFieldRemovedEvent.

You can use the Get-VIEvent or my Get-VIEventPlus cmdlet to retrieve the events.

BTW use my Event-O-Matic to easily find event names.

Special Edition, it will still generate code to extract the events

  • Consolidation of virtual machines to a custom policy

I have a group of VMs that currently do not reside in the same folder, but are identified by a naming only through multiple vcenters scheme.  * acmevms *.

I can't combine them into the same folders. In vSphere UI-> Configuration-> manage strategies, how can I better apply a strategy custom for them?  I don't want to have to manually select the 400 VMS and add them to the group...

    Thank you!

Create a custom group. Is he filled dynamically. Add virtual machines by criteria name contains acmevms. This will dynamically fill all virtual machines with this generic term.

  • Cultivate the hard drive for the virtual machine fails but customer VI indicates successful operation

I tried to cultivate a 1 TB drive of 100 GB on a block size of 8 MB LUN with still 117 GB of free space. I thought that 17 GB of free space would be sufficient.

I had a successful operation task in VI Client after resizing this vmdk to 100 GB, BUT no real changes.

I tried adding 50 GB (117 GB of free) and the same result.

Only when I tried to increase 20 GB, then it worked fine.

    QUESTION:

What is the percentage of disk space must be available on the LUN to cultivate a vmdk to 1 TB? It is a percentage of the vmdk file?

Why the VI Client would be a successful operation, but no change?

    Your help is most appreciated.

    Thank you

Bottom line first: you won't be able to easily overcome.

The reason is the large block size.  If you choose blocks of 8 MB, that's fine, but the trade-off is that even if a sub-block is used, the entire block is considered as unavailable for growth.  So, you have the space wasted in many of your blocks of 8MB.  It is considered as free, then you think you have enough space to grow, but in reality, there is very little, if any, blocks that are completely empty.   Unfortunately, there is no easy way to "squeeze" the blocks and/or move the white space in the 'clean' for growth blocks.

A lot of people think 8 MB is the way to go and use it all the time.  Not the case.  As with most things, there is a trade-off space-time.  Personally, I use 1 MB of size; It is a good choice of 'medium', memory load balancing and free space.

For myself, I don't have if worry VMFS, increasingly because if my store of data starts to be complete, I just grow on the fly with my Xiotech.  Can't use VI at all.

  • EliteBook 8470p: remove the custom logo of 8470p - using EREPLOGO. EFI

I just bought a used HP EliteBook 8470p who I am in reconstruction.

The previous owner (who I didn't contact) changed the POST logo screen, appearing briefly at startup to display a political statement - I want to remove and restore the default the HP Logo.

HP (702342-001, created in June 2012) technical white paper, I determined the following high level steps:

-I'm running BIOS 2012 generation specifications

-The EREPLOGO of HP. EFI utility is required to make the changes by using the option "ereplogo /e.

-J' I run the EREPLOGO. Utility of EFI "EFI Boot file" option in the Menu "Startup Options".

    Questions please:

Is this still the correct way to implement this change?

The white paper and the SoftPAQ containing the utility (sp58176.exe) are both dated 2012. Here is the latest version available? That is 4 years old!

    Thank you.

For those interested, I managed to solve the problem that I came with the help of this EREPLOGO. The EFI utility.

The utility is available for download in the software and drivers for my device (HP EliteBook 8470p) Web page and I followed the steps described in the technical documentation that accompanies the download. Crime (in this case) logo has been removed by the use of a control subject via the EFI Shell to start setting switch.

So yes, it's getting a little old, but the utility worked perfectly on my system BIOS UEFI.

    Thanks HP!

  • Is it acceptable to add 'weird' memory formats to a virtual machine

Is it acceptable to add 'weird' memory formats such as VM 3 or 9 GB. These sizes of memory does not exist in the physical RAM, as the physical RAM is often sold in pairs as well.

I feel that this world real values perforem a little better
so I use values that can be replenished typical dims available

    almost 9 GB would be 4 x 2048

do not hesitate to call it

    I would not use values which, in the real world, mean 1024 + 512 + 128 + 16 + 4 = 1684... just to take an example

  • How can I remove the custom xmp metadata schemas?

I have been using the display of the metadata to create customized XMP metadata schemas.  Everything works fine, the fields will appear in all of the Creative suite, but I can't for the life of understand me how to remove (or change the name of) is to get a custom schema when it is created, the metadata view of the crowded with patterns that I misspelled or that are in the wrong place or have decided that I didn't need it for my project. The only option I have is to 'Add a property' which is useful I can get the right patterns labeled correctly and in the right order.    Can someone tell me how to delete or change these individually custom schemas?

You are on an older version or CC? In CC, your custom drawings are stored here: Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/7.0/Profile-metadata Preferences. The path was different in the earlier version, and I don't remember what it was. But the search for the computer for the name of one of your drawings should take you directly to them.

I advise to proceed with caution regarding renaming them or removing custom schemas. After playing with one of mine, I stumbled upon a crash on launch of the project which was open when I created the loading pattern. The accident has no repro in two subsequent tests, then at this point, I suspect his unrelated to the renaming of the schema. Still, I thought that I must warn you...

  • Removed the custom CSS reappears when export and import

    Apex 4.1.1.00.23
I created an application and originally imported two custom CSS files. I decided to not use it, so I deleted them shared components. They no longer appear in the shared components section. I export the application and import it into the same workspace (different application id) or in another workspace (on a different database) I and the two CSS files reappear in the shared components. How the hell is - what happens? I can't understand! I have an another CSS that I use, so when I export/import I choose to include shared components.

I tried searching for files in the images/themes directory and don't see them. They are also not in the WWV_FLOW_CSS_REPOSITORY table at the time that I perform the export, but after importation, they appear as if by magic in the WWV_FLOW_CSS_REPOSITORY table.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Jennifer

  • Removes the custom management module was updated!

I built called VAMI service working group and built a device using VMware Studio that includes this service. The aircraft also had the update repository installed. Then I deployed an instance X of this unit.

Then I updated a few bugfixes in the Working Group, he gave a new version and it imported in VMWare Studio. When I rebuilt the device, he updated the repository.

Then, I went to my instance X and press 'Update device'. Have downloaded the updates and you are looking to /opt/vmware/var/log/vami/updatecli.log - he seems to have treated this update.

But when I opened a session on page VAMI (port 5480) and reconnected, the tab for my service working group has disappeared. Is there something I am doing wrong in updating the build process?

    Tejas

    Using VMware Studio 2.1

You could paste the output of "rpm - qa | grep vmware' for the version 2 device and the version1 which has been updated to version 2. Also, please attach your profile and construction logs.

There are a few parts to vami services.  The number of turns of service contains all the files of 'data', including the web interface, etc.  The 'vmware-studio-device-config' package contains the configuration of all vami.

Because the VAMI.xml file does not work in group, this indicates that the service was not properly built and configured, and so there must be something deeper going on.

    Thank you

  • Resizing of the memory allocated to the virtual machine

    Hello

I use VMPlayer on a XP and Ubuntu invited crowd.

I was wondering if I could resize the memory of my Ubuntu virtual machine by changing the value of the variable memsize in 512 to 1024 vmx configuration file or if something more complex needs to be done?

    Thank you very much.

Yes, with the Machine virtual shutdown, not suspended, and it's best if you close the VMware product too.

Also have you looked in the help file in VMware Player? With VMware Player 2.5 (haven't looked at VMware Player 3 yet). ... under... Running VMware Player > configure memory Allocation change

  • HOWTO delete a VMDK to a virtual machine without actually deleting the vmdk disk file?

How to remove a file VMDK to a virtual machine without actually deleting the vmdk disk file?

    Details:

My perl script, I need to temporarily remove a vmdk to a virtual machine file. However I do not want the vmdk file should be removed from the virtual machine. For example, the gui vsphere provides this option to delete a virtual disk without deleting the virtual disk from the disk files.

In my script, I use the ReconfigVM_Task to do this. This does the job, but also removes the vmdk file. How can ensure me that the vmdk file will not delete the disk?

The code snippet is something are:

    My $devspec = VirtualDeviceConfigSpec-> new)

    device = > $device,

    #device to delete above:

    operation = > VirtualDeviceConfigSpecOperation-> new ('remove'));

    Push (@$ devspec_list, $devspec);

  • See the Windows 10 virtual machines as "Available" in the administration Console, even while users are connected

    Hello

I have the situation where a bunch of persistent Windows 10 VM VDI (several pools, all VM 1 by manual pool) are ALWAYS shown as 'Available' in Admin mode, even when a user is connected. Using PCoIP or RDP has no importance.

    Description:

-All the time, desktop never appears as 'connected' in the Admin view when users log on. It's always 'available', which is dead wrong in the first place.

-L' use of PCoIP disconnects-> reconnects with PCoIP or RDP.

-Using RDP at a certain point however, triggers the message of "sources of funds available for this desktop computer are currently busy" clients of the view. Re-login impossible at all from that moment, regardless of the protocol used.

-Once again, yet these VM Win10 see as "available" regardless of the actual status.

-There is no firewall between windows 10 VM and connection brokers (who have no problem replication).

-Restarting the agent from the view and related services does not 'release' of the virtual machine. It will still say 'sources of funds available for this desktop computer are currently busy.

-Only a restart of the operating system can erase it and make the available virtual machine to connect again.

-While the virtual machine is amplified shutdown or restart, desktop shows as "inaccessible Agent" so there is communication between Agents and brokers.

Windows 7 persistent VM works 100% normal in all respects. It's only 10 VM Windows and... Since a round patch in a few weeks (I was this problem since then). Before some patch does this (but have no evidence) these VM Windows 10 has worked well with view 6.2.0

These virtual machines are highly customized with special software and can not be simply rebuild. I re-install VMtools, view Agent etc etc several times. No dice. Even tried a fresh install of Windows (connected to the same level), still shows this behavior.

All this started a few weeks back after a round Patch from Microsoft. Then maybe a M$ Patch assigned Agent of the view. So I uninstalled/re-installed the Agent of 62 reviews. Improved 6.2 to 6.2.2 etc. all to nothing does not. New, old, VMtools Agents re-installed. I've tried everything now.

Has anyone seen this or someone can point me in the right direction for troubleshooting? I haven't noticed any funky stuff in the papers, but I'm probably tunnel vision/search the bad things after all this time.

I do view since the early days, but I'm really stumped this time. I am all of these ideas.

I reworded my question in another post and found the answer here:

  • Example of General memory on Virtual Machines

The following link is a document from VMWare:
    http://pubs.VMware.com/vSphere-50/topic/com.VMware.ICbase/PDF/vSphere-ESXi-vCenter-Server-50-resource-management-guide.p...

Page 30, we found the table 6-1: "fresh sample General memory on VMS.

I can't really read this table!

What are all the numbers in the column "(MB) memory? If 256 the number of generals MBs needs the virtual machine at startup, then what are the lower number (I mean 1024, 4096 and 16384)?

and also what are the rest of the columns: 1 VCPU, 2VCPU, 8VCPU and 4 VCPU? and what is the meaning of the values below them?

I think that this table needs another dimension to be read and understood more easy!

There might be a way to represent differently, but I think it's one of the best tabular representation of the same thing to understand.

See the header of line and column, where header row represents the number of vCPUs and column heading is an amount of RAM allocation for a virtual machine.

the cells that intersect are representative about overhead VMKernel memory required for this virtual machine.

attempt to interpret this as follows

a virtual machine with 1 vCPU and 256 MB of RAM - will need 20,29 General memory MB VMKernel

a virtual machine with 8 vCPUs and 16 GB of RAM - will need 168,60 MB of memory overhead VMKernel

a VM with 4 vCPUs and 4 GB of RAM - will need 60.67 MB of memory overhead VMKernel

    see if this explanation helps.

  • VMware Workstation 6.5 - not enough physical memory is available to power on this virtual machine

My host is a processor Intel Core i5 (active VT) and 8 GB of RAM Windows 7 64 bit running with hardware virtualization enabled.

Apart from McAfee Antivirus and the usual Windows updates, no other software has been installed on the host machine.

I am running Vmware Workstation 6.5 and I installed 3 popular VM with below guest OS, s/w and memory:

    VMware ESX 4-2 GB
Server 2003 (DC and DNS) - 1 GB

    Server 2003 (vCenter Server) - 1 GB

However, it is not possible for me to all 3 virtual machines run simultaneously. If I turn on Vmware ESX 4 and try to start Windows 2003 VM, it displays the following message:

Not enough physical memory is available to power on this virtual machine with its configured settings.

To resolve this problem, set the parameters in additional memory to allow for more virtual memory machine to swap.

If you were able to on this Windows virtual machine on that host computer in the past, try restarting the host computer. Reboot may allow you to use a little more memory host to run virtual machines.

Can you get it someone please let me know where are the rest of the memory is busy? Size of total memory of 3 virtual machines are only 4 GB and I have to be able to run all the VMs set 3, but in this case I can't even run two virtual machines simultaneously.
