Remove toolbar icon

I got "Customize toolbar" open & I accidently added the 'Home' icon in the toolbar, but want more.  I can't find a way to remove it.  It does not have to hold down the control key and tap the icon at the top of the page.  The 'home' icon does not.  Any suggestions?

  • 'Remove' toolbar icon removed from Windows Explorer

    De : Catherine

I see that the deletion icon has been removed from the toolbar of windows Explorer.  Number of questions:

    1. How can I get it back?

    2. why it was deleted?  (what are the requirements user gathered?)

    3. a series of questions asked (see "Icons of the toolbar") on this same issue, but none of them responded by someone from Microsoft MVP (or similar).  Why is this?

    De : Andrew McLaren

Here's the right questions, I can't wait to see the answers.

My 2 cents... the toolbar in the Vista Explorer is not configurable. Soon, this was discovered by developers keen to add buttons for their own applications. You can add a 3rd party application "command bar" to explore; but you cannot change the toolbar provided by Windows.

As to why, I have no idea. I think (and this is only a guess) the Shell team tried for an experience user easier and more orthogonal; where there are fewer controls and a tendency to the only way to get something done. If you want to manipulate an object, such as a file, you select and right click on the object itself, then choose your action from the context menu. While there are more controls toolbar in Vista to manipulate the whole environment (Organization, views), rather than the individual objects in this environment. But then they went and he screwed up by adding the Open, Email, etc. to the toolbar when a file is selected. Why open a file, but not to delete? I do not know. Maybe the pressure during the beta user, diluted the original, clean, pragmatic design often determine theoretical purity in the design of Microsoft (not always a good thing, or the other).

Personally, I think that the new Explorer is messy, and needs a great usability of revision. But despite this, he is reasonably usable, today - better than Nautilus in Gnome!

As for MVP you reply... know that MVPs are quite ordinary people, hanging out in their free time. They have absolutely no formal obligation to Microsoft, or anyone else, to answer the questions at all. And in any case they are official voice for Microsoft (I speak as a MVP myself - but not in the Vista product specialty). They have jobs full-time that is clean, and they are not paid for answering questions in the forums. And microsoft.public.windows.vista.general is a busy group, so it is difficult to follow. The more interesting question is: why are there so few employees of Microsoft and, in particular, program managers, taking part in discussions to explain the design decisions?

Anyway, you can use the Community mechanism to make suggestions to Microsoft, as described here:

    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/library/gallery/components/Wn/3/locales/help/help_en-us.htm#GiveMSFeedback

'Suggestions for Microsoft' are enabled in microsoft.public.windows.vista.general, if you are using the web interface:

    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspx

While it would be nice if the internal Microsoft people are more come with information about design decisions, there are at least a few blogs with dirty laundry has revealed. For the shell, there are:

    http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windowsexperience/default.aspx

    and

    http://shellrevealed.com/

If you dig deep enough you might find some background info here. There are also a few forums focused on the shell, which may give better answers.

    It will be useful,

  • How to remove toolbar icons and just leave the text?

In previous versions of "Firefox", you could-'text only' or 'text and icons' in the toolbar.

In the most recent version 32.0.2, options is no longer available, you get icons and text. Just, it clutters the toolbar and restricted the number of URL for quick access.

I want to just 'Text' only.

    Thank you

Add code to the file userChrome.css below default @namespace.

    @namespace url("https://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

    #PlacesToolbarItems > .bookmark-item > .toolbarbutton-icon { display:none !important; }

The file userChrome.css (UI) customization and userContent.css (Web sites) are located in the folder of chrome in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

    • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)
    • Create the folder chrome (lowercase) in the .default < xxxxxxxx > profile folder if the folder does not exist
    • Use a text editor like TextEdit to create a userChrome.css (new) file in the folder chrome (file name is case sensitive)
    • Paste the code in the userChrome.css file in the Editor window
    • Make sure that the userChrome.css file starts with the default @namespace line

Be sure to save the file in plain text format and not as rich text.

  • Remove bookmarks toolbar icons?

In the old version of Firefox I was using, it was easy to choose from 3 options for the bookmarks toolbar. display icons only, only the display names, display names and icons.

I chose to display names only because it saves space.

I downloaded the latest version of Firefox, and now it seems impossible to remove bookmarks toolbar icons. (Others have asked about this, but the answers were unnecessary).

I reinstalled an old version of Firefox and still I can't get rid of the icons.

Please help me to get rid of the icons in the bookmarks toolbar!

    Thank you!

    1. Open the modules (Ctrl + Shift + A Manager; Mac: Command + shift + A), then the Extensions category.
    2. Beside the classical restaurant theme, click on the Options button.
    3. On the Home tab, in the upper left corner, choose "Tabs (default Australis) curve", or "Curve tabs (alternative)" or "curve tabs (alternative Aero).

    GrogBlossom wrote:

Also, I'm not sure if I like tabs on very top or not... but cannot find a way to toggle that option. Possible?

In classic options window Restorer theme mentioned above, in the upper left corner of the main tab, choose between ' tabs not on "or"tabs on top (default).

  • How can I keep my Bookmarks Toolbar icons (I tried Deiconizer to bookmarks) even after downloading files?

I prefer a clean workspace in my browser, I'm looking to get rid of the icons in the bookmarks toolbar. I've been using the bookmarks-Deiconizer (version 2.3) and it works pretty well. When I open Firefox for the first time, but also new windows, icons do not appear, do the arrows down, and it's great.

However, every time I download a file as a PDF file, icons appear and will disappear only after that I closed ALL my windows open or restart Firefox. This is problematic for me because I often work with lots of PDF files and do not want to have to close all windows to get back my own work space.

Y at - it sort of coding I can do instead to remove the icons? I visited this thread (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/792988), but unfortunately I can't seem to locate the file "userChrome.css". I think that the coding of Firefox may have changed since then, but I'm not very tech savvy, so I could be wrong.

    Thanks for the help.

userChrome.css and this file must be located inside the \chrome\ does not exist until the user creates this file and this file in the folder of their profile.

    http://antennasoft.NET/robcee/2012/04/20/bookmarks-deiconizer-userChrome-Edition/

If you install this extension - ChromEdit Plus the necessary file and the folder will be created for you, and you will be able to add and modify preferences for the 3 'user' files in Firefox.

First of all, try resetting Firefox. Refresh Firefox – reset settings and Add-ons. This simple step will eliminate the many problems in Firefox with just one click.

A few other basic problems you can try things is the following:
Run all Windows updates, install all required service packs, etc.

Updating your graphics driver (Firefox uses the graphics card for rendering and an outdated graphics card driver can cause problems. Update your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL

Update all of your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.

Download and install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This check allows that there is no virus on your computer, causing problems. You can uninstall this program after having cleaned the infections.

    Hello

Which, in my view, that you have a problem with, it's called windows Flip 3D!

Try this first and see how you go...

    1. To turn on the Quick Launch bar, follow these steps:
    2. Right-click anywhere on an empty spot on the taskbar.
    3. Choose toolbars from the menu that appears.
    4. Select Quick Launch in the following menu so that it is checked.

You should then be able to click the icon to switch between Windows now and use the 3d Flip...

    Or

. Right click on the Quick Launch toolbar, but not on an icon
    2. Select the folder from the context menu. It will take you to the Quick Launch folder that should live:

    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

    3. right click in an empty area of this folder
    4. Select new, then shortcut from the context menu
    5. for the location text box, enter the following text:

    C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe dwmapi #105

    6. click on the next button
    7. appoint. (Flip3D, for example)
    8. click on finish

The shortcut will now be in your Quick Launch toolbar.

  • I found the show/hide button toolbars, but you should know how to REMOVE toolbars that appear on this list?

I found the show/hide button toolbars, but you should know how to REMOVE toolbars that appear on this list?

Is attached a screenshot of my screen with the context menu to show/hide tabs. I want to delete some of them and let others. Please help me to know how. Thank you!

Hmm, maybe this "one-time" imported into the new preference? Try this:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste the cust and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference of browser.uiCustomization.state and the content must be highlighted in a small dialog box.

    (4) copy the whole line and paste it into Notepad and save it as a backup.

    (5) in Firefox, click on the button '3-bar' menu > developer > Notepad. Remove the comment that appears and paste data preferably, that must appear on a long line. Click on the "Pretty Print" button to make it more readable.

So I hope that you can spot the extra toolbars and change them out, taking care to preserve the commas between the elements.

I don't have the extra toolbars in mine, but I copied and pasted back this spaced format and Firefox was able to handle it well. I went into customize and moved a button, and when I left, Firefox has rewritten the preference set as a single line. Assuming that yours works fine, then you can get rid of the backup from step (4).

  • Bookmark Toolbar Icons

    I installed Firefox on a Toshiba still 2 10 '' tablet running Windows 8.1.

The bookmarks bar is visible but not all icons. Icons and details are saw in the Bookmarks Manager.

Is there a solution for this?

    Concerning

    Mike

For the bookmarks display on your bookmarks bar, a feature called "Bookmarks toolbar icons" should be this toolbar. By default, it is the bookmarks toolbar, but can be deleted by accident. To see if you have it in your toolbar, you must go to your customization page:

    • Enter topic: Customizing in your address bar and press ENTER.
    • Reach

      > Customize

If it is not on the toolbar customization page, you will need to click on, and then drag it to here. Leave your customization page after doing it and see if your bookmarks are displayed.

  • Website menu drop-down toolbar icons white in Foxfire but not in Chrome

Using Mac OSX 10.8.3; 30 Firefox

Since the download and installation of Firefox 30, website toolbar in the drop down menus are coming with a screen white, white - no content. It does not on other browsers such as Chrome.

Examples: On weather.com, the drop-down menu appears, and then comes back to the white screen.
My facebook.com page, the toolbar icon in the drop-down menus have a white screen. (To "Find friends", "Inbox" and "Notifications")

I tried to update my Flash drive at 30. No change.

You can try the following steps in case of problems with web pages:

You can reload webpages and ignore the cache to refresh potentially stale or corrupt.

    • Hold down the SHIFT key and click the Reload button
    • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
    • Press 'Command + shift + R' (Mac)

Clear the cache and cookies only from Web sites that are causing problems.

    "Clear the Cache":

    • Firefox > Preferences > advanced > network > content caching Web: 'clear now '.

    'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

    • Firefox > Preferences > privacy > "Use the custom settings for history" > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • How can I get the Extension toolbar icon to display the image without text (without affecting the other icons universally)? How can I change the text of the icons (except space)?

«In the drop-down view menu, you can choose what to display toolbars: icons, text, or icons and text together.» By default, Firefox shows icons only. "Is it possible to choose a setting for a specific toolbar icon to be icon only (no text) without affecting all the other icons on the toolbars universally?

Second, is there a way to edit the text on a toolbar button by another extension (because it takes up too much horizontal space in the toolbar because of the amount of text)? I do not know how to locate the xpi file and open it with Notepad, but then it is mainly (not English) code & FIND is not to search the text of the button (to change).

These 2 questions should apply to the buttons of the Extension in general. However IF it makes a difference I'm talking for the toolbar button back to 7.0 top of the page that says 'Go to top/bottom '. I would like to at least change on "Go to", but my questions also apply to the other buttons Extension. I realize that it may be necessary to redo a fix/change whenever there is an update? Thank you.

You should always see this icon that only the text of the label could be hidden.

You can try this code in the file userChrome.css below default @namespace.

    @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

    toolbar[mode="full"] #b2tTBUnicon { min-width:0px !important; }
    toolbar[mode="full"] #b2tTBUnicon .toolbarbutton-icon { margin-top:-20px !important; }
    toolbar[mode="full"] #b2tTBUnicon .toolbarbutton-text { display:none !important; }
