Removed unnecessary files
I tried to clean the space and when I go to delete files as a moviemaker and netmeeting they reappear. they go in the trash, but when I say clearly they reappear in the directory... I need space on my C drive, and I don't need these files. I raise intall clean up windows and do not show these programs, they are not on my program to start, so I can't do a uninstall... Help? Anyone got any suggestions?
You cannot remove these files in this way. Uninstall Netmeeting like this:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/938223
To uninstall NetMeeting on a Windows XP computer, use the following method:
Click Start , click run , type RunDll32 advpack.dll, LaunchINFSection, C:\WINDOWS\inf\msnetmtg.inf,NetMtg.Remove, and then click OK .
It seems more difficult to uninstall Movie Maker:
That said, these are really small programs and their uninstall will do much to help your problem of overcrowding. Use TreeSize free program to see what is too much space.

Do the maintenance.

Copy data (music, movies, photos) files on an external hard drive and delete then the primary hard drive. Or buy a bigger hard drive and clone the smaller one for her. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

How Saveli remove unnecessary files
I have an old Dell with XP Professional and MS Office 2007 Pro. There seems to be many downloaded files that may or may not be of use longer. I don't want to maintain the integrity of the operating system and MS Office, but need to free up hard drive space. I deleted all temporary files etc and have no malware on this system.
I would say running a free program called Ccleaner, free at cnet.com. He'll find junk files, you don't need and delete them. Don't worry, I have used this program for over a year, never had a problem. It also has the ability to find problems in the registry that need to be addressed and I also use this feature. But, I always save a backup the changes made to the registry on my desk to ensure that there is no problem. After about a month, I remove the back upward because it had no effect on my operating system.
Download from the same web site, Revo Uninstaller. This program will list each program you have on your hard drive, the difference between this program is that it also removes registry leftovers, add/remove programs does not. You must look at all the programs on your hard drive and decide if you use the program or not, otherwise, delete. Do not touch any program that has been installed through Microsoft updates.

I need to remove unnecessary files
I need to delete some files of uneeded on my hard drive so I can't defragment due to lack of available disk space. What should I do. ?
There are a number of things you can do to- temporarily - free up disk space. The only real solution, however, is to get a bigger internal hard drive. You can move the data to an external drive, but if it's the data that you use frequently, slower access times may annoy you. Therefore, I do not recommend that you move your My Documents folder in its entirety on an external drive, but you can certainly do this by following the related instructions.
- You can run Disk Cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr > OK) If you have more than one user, don't forget to run Disk Cleanup in all user profiles. Also note that Disk Cleanup removes only the files in the temporary directory that have not been consulted in the past seven days, then you may want to manually remove the contents of C:\Documents and Settings\
Settings\Temp for each user. Just make sure you reboot before you delete recent files in the directory temp - You can reduce the size allocated for the restoration of the system to about 1 GB (right click on desktop > properties > system restore > settings)
- You can disable hibernation (if you don't use it) (right click on an empty spot on the desktop > properties > screen saver > power > Hibernate)
- You can disable the indexing of the drive, which will also speed up your computer a bit (http://lifehacker.com/031440/turn-off-indexing-and-speed-up-windows-xp)
- You can reduce the size of your Internet browser cache (depending on the browser that you use)
- You can remove most of the $NTUninstallKBxxxxxx files $ following the directions here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Hotfix_backup.htm (read the warnings in the gray box first)
But none of these answers you will earn really large amounts of space for very long. The term solution time is a bigger hard drive.
In the meantime, download and run JDiskReport, that will show you graphically what files take up more space and seem to so indicate what files you must delete or move to an external drive.
By all means uninstall applications is more desired or use the option - but do not count on the data in the control panel > Add / Remove programs that an application has been used "rarely" or "last use" date to some time ago. Make sure that you don't really need an application before you click 'uninstall '.

Remove unnecessary files from my drive F to get the free memory.
My computer tells me that I'm running out of disk space on my drive 'F' and I need to delete files safely. I ran the first register the controls of the space, but my computer says that there is nothing to remove.
"There is another option that says 'Other Options', but I don't know what are the files I can delete safely drive"F"
Describe how your hard disk is partitioned. The operating system is on the C: drive usually - but not always-.
For example, list all your partitions, how big they are, what they do, and how much free space is on each. Oh, also, in case you have unallocated space on your hard disk, indicate how many there are.
To get this information, follow these steps:
Make a right click my computer and select manage. Then click on disk management.
Finally, you have access to an external hard drive?

How to remove unnecessary files from the hard drive using Lightroom.
Hello
I use Lr 5.7 on Win7 64-bit. I would remove completely some old files and their contents that were part of my previous, very messy organization. I still have parents and masters images files, so I have no need extra junk on my hard drive.
I tried to do a right click on the file, but the only option is to delete the catalog. I saw posted solutions that say click on icon less. I don't see an icon less anywhere. As far as I know, Lightroom really doesn't want "delete me" anything.
Thank you!

deleting unnecessary files without buying software. is it possible a free way
Dido is possible
I understand that you want to remove unnecessary files. What is considered as unwanted files varies from one person to another.
However, Windows XP includes a utility that identifies and allows the removal of the files that are widely considered to be useless files.
To access the utility:
1. click on the Start button
2. click on run
3 type "cleanmgr" (without the quotes)
4. click on OK
After running the utility, a list of unwanted files is returned. In general, unless there are special reasons, it is safe to leave checked the following:
-Temporary Internet Files
-The Office installation files (the files needed are on the installation CD)
Hope this helps

* What are the safe & reputable sites are there to remove unnecessary files and registry errors? I used to use AVG which has a set of performance that analyzes and corrects the above. But AVG missed it when I was whacked with 3 virus. Which has been corrected long ago. Anyway AVG was uninstalled and replaced with Microsoft Security Essentials. Since the abolishment of AVG, my GBs slowly use, makes me think that the registry errors and unnecessary files are piling up. I use CCleaner, but don't think it cleans everything that has accumulated. So if anyone knows a site safe and reputable which removes these questions, I would be grateful the info.*
Kind regards
Ron
Hello
CCleaner is as good as any one to eliminate the unnecessary and temporary files. I do not recommend its register
cleaner (or anyone) because type programs will usually stop and difficulty nothing. And
Windows don't need is no longer the cleaned registry (if it ever did).Disk Cleanup is also good and provided with Windows.

What are the unnecessary files and is at - it issues removing them?
I need to free up some space because I ran. But I'm afraid if I delete some unnecessary files, it will have an impact on my PC.
What type of files 'undesirables '?
Please be more explicit. In general, Yes, because they are "undesirable".
You can clean everything in the folder % TEMP except files currently locked. Is better to clean temp folder immediately after restarting Windows.
What do you mean that you have run out of free space. A tool like CCleaner will identify the "junk" files that can be deleted.

Remove temporary files Photoshop CC (Windows 7)
I found a bunch of discussions/websites on the temporary files, but they are either on previous versions of Photoshop for over 5 years so I don't know if they are still relevant or that they don't answer my questions. I create a new thread to make sure I have good things.
1) Where are the temporary files generated by CC in Photoshop? This is the " " "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp" folder? "
2) what files in this folder are produced by CC in Photoshop? It's all files ending in .tmp or only those who have a certain prefix (like "~ ps")? Mine are some tracking numbers for the .tmp extension. Some are files, other files. Which ones can be deleted safely?
I thought that the normal behavior that temporary files written to the disk to work are purged after termination of the application, unless the software (or computer) goes down, that "cuts" the temporary files that were made at the time, allowing them to hang out regardless of closing and even Purge will not affect the. These are the files that I want to delete.
My Photoshop CC collapsed, but I had a few Mid-work failures of current as well as the computer crashes here and there and never made any cleanup after these things. The computer is freshly started now and Photoshop is not started, the files in this folder that relate to Photoshop so should be sure to get rid of, right?
Disk of my work is my hard disk MBR. Not have performance problems. My Photoshop CC works very well (in the measure of not slow or get crashes/errors anyway). I just want to make sure I know how to manually get rid of Photoshop generates unnecessary files that might still be floating there instead of function of software to do.
Thank you!
No, you're OK because the TEMP files are only used to contain information about the files that you are currently editing. When you save the file, the file is complete in the backup, and you haven't needed anything that anyone else.
I read (don't know if it's true) that Photoshop cleans the TEMP files each time that it starts, so it will never a plus. But it's unusual, most applications leave a lot behind and cleaning litter is a good thing. My rule is
* reset
* Look at TEMP
* Sort by date
* Remove any more old than restarting.

Is it possible to remove a file from your time Machine?
Is it possible to remove a file (s) from your time Machine? When I tried, I got a pop up says that backs up the items cannot be changed. How do you get the room on your Time Machine disk?
Time Machine takes care of its own needs of storage itself, without interfere you in the process. When the TM drive is running out of storage space, TM will remove older backups if necessary.
Time Machine backups are very sophisticated in what is backed up at what time. It is not as simple as just delete the backups 'elders '. Let TM its magic in itself.
