    Your Service Manual:

    Manual

See p. 41. You can use these and only these wireless cards:

    Atheros 802.11b/g/n WiFi adapter and Bluetooth 4.0 adapter 1 × 1 9485GN 3012 (some models only) 655795-001

    Atheros HB125 802.11b/g/n WiFi (some models only) 675794-001 adapter 1 × 1

It must be a numbered HP part or the BIOS white list allows you to block the system from starting.

None of them are 5 GHz, but the best is the Intel Centrino 2230

  • Envy 15-j104el: updated NETWORK WiFi card and RAM update

    Goodmorning to everyone

I write this post to ask for information on the possibility to do an upgrade of hardware on my HP Envy 15-j104elsystem.

    That's what I would do:

-Replace the network card (NIC) to a wireless better and possibly with a compatible AC NIC.

-Update to 16 GB of ram, put benches with CL9 SODIMM

The questions that I want to bring to your attention are:

-There is a 'white list' for the wifi card on my BIOS (actually F66)?
(consultation with the service manual there are little NIC OEM selled, y at - it ONLY compatible?)

-Put the sticks of ram CL9 (instead of CL11 currently OEM mounted), I can inprove the overall performance?

    I want to install are:

    -Intel Wireless-AC 7260 more Bluethoot HMC 4.0

    -Kingston HyperX Impact DDR3L 16 GB (2x8gb) SODIMM 1600 Mhz CL9 (Kit)

According to your experiences, is it compatible? I can buy them without any problem?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. Thanks for your suggestions

In particular, I take this opportunity to greet and also need the help of my friend @visruth ;)

    1. no whitelist. Your laptop was conducted after HP stopped using a white list so that you can install any card with the right form factor and the number of antennas. The Intel 7260 card should work.

    2. you can install the CL9 memory but it will not do anything all run faster. The motherboard is made to operate at the speed of the OEM memory so the Kingston Hyper-X will work, but the specifications of it in operation will be the same as memory OEM.

  • HP ENVY laptop - 13-d045tu: BCM43142 change on Envy 13 wifi card

    Combination 792608-005 BCM43142 of Broadcom 802.11 wireless network adapter b/g/n 1 x 1 Wi - Fi and BluteTooth 4.0 m2

There is problem of BOUNCING on Windows 10 wifi connectivity so I change to another card and at the same time offering an AC 5 GHz connectivity.

One of the options I'm considering is Intel AC 7265 (HP part no 793840-005) that comes standard in the variant of other Envy 13 sold elsewhere.

Newer that I am wanting to NGFF Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 (8260NGW)is another model.

Can anyone tell if there are fears white list on the question if these cards above would work on my laptop?

Should I get the AC7265, I get the part specific HP itself or the Intel will do?

    Thanks in advance guys!

    Hugo

You can safely assume that any HP laptop with a 4th generation Intel Core processor or newer has no whitelist wireless and yours is 6th generation if you are safely beyond the question of the white list. However, the real problem comes another question HP Wireless: the single antenna module, which is now installed in most HP laptops. Most of the 1 x 1 b/g/n modules have only a single antenna that makes it impossible to get to something that works in the 5 GHz band.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See p. 31. The manual shows 2 antennas and I hope that's right but the only way to be sure is to open and just look. If you see a single antenna wireless, I shut up and look for a usb dongle that is compatible with 802.11ac. Or prepare for a complete teardown add a second antenna.

The AC 7265 is good enough, if you have two antennas to support.

You also might as well get the variant of HP that HP has a big enough market share that are still lacking these autour and they do not cost more:

  • Satellite A100 - Upgrade Intel for 5300AGN Intel 3945ABG WIFI card

    Hi all

I own a satellite A100-383 PSAARE. I want to upgrade the wifi card, like the one it is installed right now (PRO/Wireless 3945ABG), does not all the speed, the line can achieve (100 MB to the bottom). Anyone know if the map intel 5300 AGN is compatible with my laptop. If not I would appreciate a lot of suggestions.

    Thank you

Don t think that someone can give you an appropriate response since the compatibility depends on the BIOS
If the BIOS would be compatible with the new WLan card, then you can use it for you

The point is that motherboards is able to manage the cards WLan miniPCI module is just plugged the miniPCI slot and its removable
So there is just one question about BIOS support and I m afraid you will need to test this at your peril

    Hi there @Custerboy

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you are looking for an update for the WiFi card installed in your all-in-one. I'm happy to help you.

In looking at the options listed in the specifications for this model wireless:

HP ENVY 23-c115xt all-in-One product specifications and configurable Options

    These are the available choices:

    • Wireless 802.11b/g/n LAN featuring single-band (2.4 Ghz), 1 x 1

  • TouchSmart N090sa 15: N090sa Wifi card upgrade

I have a Touchsmart 15 N090sa and I was wondering if in the bios, there was a list of wireless card white I want to upgrade a newer version, as if there is a whitelist which would limit the options for many.

You are not hampered by a white list, to the best of our ability to discern. HP has never published an accurate list of the models that have no list white and the best, it can be thought of feedback from users, is that any laptop made after January 1, 2014 is passed the white list but not guaranteed. The upgrade is relatively easy, because your model has an access on the lower panel that contains the wifi card. This will allow you to easily check if you have a 1 antenna or 2. If you have 1 upgrade becomes a much bigger and it's probably a show-stopper.

See p. 49 of the manual here:

    Manual

Since you have the AMD processor that I'd stay away from Intel wireless cards and recommends that it:

    http://www.Amazon.com/Azurewave-Broadcom-BCM94352HMB-BCM94352-867Mbps/DP/B00JY6X9HM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8 & qid = 1456238814 & SR = 8-1 & Keywords = Broadcom + 802.11ac

  • Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 WiFi card upgrade question

I decided to upgrade WiFi modem to my laptop at the more recent. So, I checked the hardware maintenance manual for my laptop for the necessary equipment and discovered that the best option would be "WLAN card, 802.11a/g/n & 802.16e, Intel 6250NX MOW M NB PCIE HMC" (number FRU: 20002321). So, I bought this WLAN card key and after installation of the equipment THAT BIOS began to display error message "104 network device not detected. Even though I have updated the BIOS to the latest version available.

It would be good to have some explanations on the HCL. Otherwise, it seems that I just lost my money on incompatible hardware.

    Thank you

    Hello:

You should be able, if your laptop currently has two attached to the wireless card antenna cables.

As your laptop has an AMD processor and chipset, you would be limited to the installation of a Broadcom adapter dual band Wireless-N with bluetooth, or a Broadcom adapter dual band wireless AC with bluetooth.

99% of the time, Intel wireless cards do not work on AMD platforms.

If your laptop only has a single antenna drive, you need to be willing and able to take the laptop everything hand, including the area of display panel, to run successfully a second antenna.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 6c51ea: upgrade of the dv6 6c51ea ssd and ram wifi card

    Hello
As of late I thought the upgrade or replace my laptop, but I have a few questions to help me decide.
First ram cited the speed of the processor is listed as 1066/1333 hz, however I can not check it on the site of hp and the crucial site recommend ddr3 at 1600 hz, the site hp also says is that 8 GB however apparently due to the fact that it was released on Windows 7 However the processor can support 16 GB max memory support and since upgrading to win 10 my system would be doing, is this correct?

What kind of improvements I see by installing an ssd (Samsung evo 850) 500 GB?

And finally the wifi card could be readily available and upgraded to the new ac wifi to use the router to HQ and speeds mon is provides and I pay!

So basically will be the ssd, 2 x 8 GB 1600 mhz sodimm ram, and a wifi amd card equipped for the £300 it cost would he give me the jump in performance for his money as the cpu and gpu are rather dated now (i5 2450 m and radeon 7470 m) when a new system with an i5 4th gen with 1 GB graphics , 500 GB and 16 GB of ram, ssd would cost about £900 what would be the main benefits

    Thank you very much

    Shott

I stand well partially corrected. The 8 gig RAM max was on the technical page of HP and the maintenance manual says maximum 16 concerts. As you note, it will run at 1333 mhz, but yes you can install 16 gigs and upgrade to Windows 10 made no difference there. You may installed 16 concerts with all 64-bit operating systems.

    Here is the Manual:

    Your repair manuals

Page 28 - 29 a the list of supported wireless adapters EXCEPT the

    Module Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 WLAN 631956-001

a mistake is well-documented. The part number is actually a single band card Ralink and other versions of HP of the 6230 Advanced-N used in some business models will not work in your laptop. We beat this horse dead on many posts here.

    Thank you all!

Yes, he absolutely has a whitelist. I do not know where to come from tips in the other 2 posts and this is a mistake. Laptop wi - fi modules are readily available on the market. I have a drawer full of them to prove it. Unfortunately, HP had about one year-10 ran to block the installation of any wi - fi (module) card but a specific group of cards specific firmware HP and identity. In other words, the ONLY cards that can be installed are the very specific listed for your model in your area in the maintenance manual. This prevented the owners of manufactured HP laptops before about Q4 2013 to upgrade to the latest wireless technology. Your laptop is longer than that if you're stuck with what is indicated in the maintenance manual.

Not my decision, just tell it like it is.
