Recovery disc red - no unnecessary files!
I have a Pavilion dv7 with Windows 7, service pack 1. It came with a recovery partition. The partition has recently turned red. I followed the instructions to ensure there is no unnecessary file and there is not. Any other ideas?

I've never had a HP Recovery partition turns red, but which does not mean that it can't happen. I understand that you want to remove unnecessary files. What is considered as unwanted files varies from one person to another.
However, Windows XP includes a utility that identifies and allows the removal of the files that are widely considered to be useless files.
To access the utility:
1. click on the Start button
2. click on run
3 type "cleanmgr" (without the quotes)
4. click on OK
After running the utility, a list of unwanted files is returned. In general, unless there are special reasons, it is safe to leave checked the following:
-Temporary Internet Files
-The Office installation files (the files needed are on the installation CD)

* What are the safe & reputable sites are there to remove unnecessary files and registry errors? I used to use AVG which has a set of performance that analyzes and corrects the above. But AVG missed it when I was whacked with 3 virus. Which has been corrected long ago. Anyway AVG was uninstalled and replaced with Microsoft Security Essentials. Since the abolishment of AVG, my GBs slowly use, makes me think that the registry errors and unnecessary files are piling up. I use CCleaner, but don't think it cleans everything that has accumulated. So if anyone knows a site safe and reputable which removes these questions, I would be grateful the info.*

CCleaner is as good as any one to eliminate the unnecessary and temporary files. I do not recommend its register
cleaner (or anyone) because type programs will usually stop and difficulty nothing. And
Windows don't need is no longer the cleaned registry (if it ever did).
Disk Cleanup is also good and provided with Windows.

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running

my files has increased from 3 000 to 3 days without program installed, how can I delete unnecessary files safely?
With no program installs or any change to the actual system W.7, in three days my record amount raised by 3 000 records. This weird me based on any change or new program installs, etc etc. How do I find and remove unnecessary files or duplicate? Used 8 GB C drive space increase. I prefer to keep disk space for real things. Yet once, how can I find and remove unnecessary files or duplicate safely?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:
Method 1: I suggest you to run Disk Cleanup to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space.

Method 2: I suggest you to clear temporary folders and check if it helps, here are the steps:
a. click Start, type folder in the search box and press enter.
b. press the CTRL + A, that will select all the content and Remove it.
Once you disable this, follow these steps:
a. click Start, click computer.
b. open the C drive, go to the Temp folder and delete all the content and check if it helps.
Method 3: You can also run the troubleshooting Windows Media Player Settings Troubleshooter & check if the problem persists.

How can unnecessary files, I remove them?
Many of my podcasts are useless files that begin with '.» _"and the name of the podcast file but contains no real information. All these files are grouped in the category of 'Unknown' podcast on my rocket and despite several attempts to reach identification info, there is not.
I use an iBook at home and a Windows Vista computer at work. I would like to know how to delete files unnecessary and attribute at least identifying information in files in the category "unknown."

Your files need unknown labels - electronic tags that support mp3 files. Podcasters can be lax in this regard.
You can click right into Windows and go to properties/summary/advanced and add it.
Or make your life easier and download mp3tag, freeware from http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ the installation, allow it to be added to the context menus.
Under Tools/Options/Tags/Mpeg default set to write ID3v2.3 ISO-8859-1, more readable to the "rocket". Make sure that you save.
Then right-click on the podcast, highlight it in mp3tag and add the information. Doing the Podcast Genre so the "rocket" it will consolidate separately music.
You must also run your mp3 albums through mp3tag - select all the files and click on tools. The wizard of automatic numbering with zeros (so the track numbers are 01, 02 and not 1/12, 2/12). Who will also save tags like ID3v2.3 ISO-8859-1.

I got PowerCLI in version 4.1 and I upgraded to 5.1 because of amazing new features.
In version 4.1, I was copping files with the following command:
Copy-VMGuestFile -LocalToGuest -Source "C:\powcli41.txt" -Destination "C:\Users\unittester\Desktop\powcli41.txt" -VM VMName -GuestUser domain\username -GuestPassword password -HostUser username -HostPassword password -force
and it worked perfectly.
In versions 5.0 and 5.1 on the virtual machine, I can see record extra, unnecessary:
C:\Users\unittester\Desktop\powcli41.txt\powcli41.txt
instead of required
C:\Users\unittester\Desktop\powcli41.txt
Could you explain how to change the order of copy-VMGuestFlie to avoid superfluous powcli41.txt folder?

I have an old Dell with XP Professional and MS Office 2007 Pro. There seems to be many downloaded files that may or may not be of use longer. I don't want to maintain the integrity of the operating system and MS Office, but need to free up hard drive space. I deleted all temporary files etc and have no malware on this system.
I would say running a free program called Ccleaner, free at cnet.com. He'll find junk files, you don't need and delete them. Don't worry, I have used this program for over a year, never had a problem. It also has the ability to find problems in the registry that need to be addressed and I also use this feature. But, I always save a backup the changes made to the registry on my desk to ensure that there is no problem. After about a month, I remove the back upward because it had no effect on my operating system.
Download from the same web site, Revo Uninstaller. This program will list each program you have on your hard drive, the difference between this program is that it also removes registry leftovers, add/remove programs does not. You must look at all the programs on your hard drive and decide if you use the program or not, otherwise, delete. Do not touch any program that has been installed through Microsoft updates.
