Rename the RAC Instances in 11.2.0.2

Hello

I have two node RAC - Systems Version 11.2.0.2 on Linux Redhat 5.4 X 86 - 64.

+ Node names stb, dwh
+ Name of the database: RAC
+-The instance name 1: RAC1 on stb
+ Name of instance 2: RAC2 on dwh

After completing the following steps:

+ RAC2 Instance delete with dbca on dwh
+ Convert the RAC1 Instance in Instance RACONE_1 (a RAC node)
+ Move the Instance RACONE_1 to dwh
+ RACONE_1 of the Instance to convert (one RAC node) to RACONE (normal CARS)
+ Add Instance RACONE2 to stb

Since yesterday, after shutdowning the corresponding instance I tried in vain to rename the Forum RACONE2 phen. RACONE to previous RAC1 and RAC2 names with srvctl change on the node with the currently running instance.

Any expert can help me?

Thank you

Note: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/rac.112/e16795/srvctladmin.htm#i1009714 says:

srvctl change instance db_unique_name d-i InstanceName
{node_name n |-z}

Notes:

* You can not use this command to rename or move a running instance.
* This command is only available with Oracle RAC Oracle Clusterware.

Hello

+ srvctl stop instance d-i RACONE2
+ srvctl change instance d RAC RAC1 stb - n-i
Here, I have the problem:
I don't know how to change the name of RACONE2 in RAC1 and RAC2 in RACONE.
You know the answer?

Never tried to change the name of the instance of the RAC 11.2.

But in earlier versions, I always perform the following steps to update after OCR changed INSTANCE_NAME in the database (SPFILE).

Should be called SRVCTL to remove and re-add the database information to OCR.

e.g
*****before the rename*****
srvctl stop database -d
srvctl remove instance -d -i
srvctl remove instance -d -i
(repeat above command for each instance as needed)

*****and after the rename*****
srvctl add instance -d -i -n
(repeat above command for each instance as needed)

  • Running the Single Instance and RAC on the same server of different homes.

    Hi guys,.

I already have 4 node RAC12c installed on OLE 6.

I'm planing on some of my other 12 single instance databases on other migration for RAC nodes.

Please correct me here if I am wrong...

My understanding is that, to be able to use DBCA or rconfig for conversion of database instance RAC, the only instance and RAC cluster must run on the same server or machine node.

Thanks to this understanding... Am planing on the installation of a binary single instance on one of my cluster node node1 say and then use RMAN to duplicate the single instance or just an RMAN restore from the node of the instance that is unique to this node1. Am capable of this plan must then use DBCA or rconfig to convert the CARS database.

Now, my question is can I run a single instance and RAC on the same server for different homes with different database ports?

    2. for these unique instance that runs on the server RAC 1 node, can I use the RAC database listener that runs from the House of the grid or I have to create another auditor?

Thank you in advance and also let me know if I can use DBCA or rconfig when the only instance and rac database are on separate nodes.

    K

Fix. And that's what I would normally do. In general, I would have just an ORACLE_HOME directory that can be used by the punctual and RAC databases at the same time.

    See you soon,.

  • How a RAC DB 'spreads' the only instance to multiple instances?

    GI/RDBMS Version: 11.2.0.3

    OS: Oracle Linux 6.3

    File system: ASM

When a RAC database is created using dbca, manually, or restore RMAN, the DB is created in the first Node1 with cluster_Database = FALSE.

Then, you run the following (for 3-node RAC) commands to Node1

srvctl add the d o $ORACLE_HOME lmnprod +LMNPROD_DATA01/lmnprod/spfilelmnprod.ora Pei database

    srvctl add instance d lmnprod-i lmnprod1 - n hwcarser290

    srvctl add instance d lmnprod-i lmnprod2 - n hwcarser291

    srvctl add instance d lmnprod-i lmnprod3 - n hwcarser292

Once the DB is created, mounted and open in Node1 and the above commands are executed, you define cluster_Database = TRUE and Instance2 startup and Instance 3 in Node2 and Node3.

I just want to know how Node2 and Node3 had knowledge of the DB and joined the cluster DB? What happens internally?

In General, registration in OCR is not required for the database to a cluster database.

Migration of database unique to the cluster instance consists of creation of redo and undo tablespace for the new instance newspapers and allowing this forum (thread). If the database is managed by the policy, this is done automatically for the new node.

  • Primary database is RAC and physical intelligence is the single instance

    Hi all

I use Oracle RAC 11.2.0.3 as primary database, we will begin to use the Oracle Data Guard.
I am designing my infrastructure and planing to use single instance Oracle 11.2.0.3 my stand physical database.

My question is it possible to have my sleep as single instance database while the primary is RAC?
is it possible to build my Oracle database single instance ensures from the primary database to the RAC, RMAN backup?
Are there restrictions (or all of the points to consider) as my primary database is CARS while the physics of Eve is the only Oracle instance?

    in the link below
    [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28294/concepts.htm#i1039416]
It was mentioned that primary can be CARS or simple and even the day before, but my question is possible to have primary as CARS all on standby as single instance? or it should be like each other?
The primary database can be either a single-instance Oracle database or an Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) database.
Similar to a primary database, a standby database can be either a single-instance Oracle database or an Oracle RAC database.

  • Disable the auto reboot of Rac instances.

    Hello guys,.

We can use the disable SRVCTL command disable a particular ASM instance or instance of database Rac clusterware restarting manually if we are performing maintenance activities. but in oracle databases 11 GR 2 RAC databases can be managed or managed the policy administrator. still, there are two automatic and manual strategies. automatic with automatically restart instances. Here, if we define politics in the manual the clusterware cannot restart the database instance.

    1. now, we have a RAC database with 5 cases and and defines us as manual policy. This means that, after a reboot of the system the clusterware is no longer able to restart all instances of database automatically... is that accurate.

    2. we can change the current policy to another strategy using the SRVCTL change database management_policy RAC y - d... here, the management policy can be just right either automatic and manual...

    help guys...

    Hello
Point 1 and 2 seems to be OK for oracle 11g databases rel2.

    srvctl y {AUTO |} The database management policy MANUAL}.
    1 *. If AUTOMATIC
(default), then the database is automatically
in his previous running state (started or)
stopped) when the database host computer is restarted.
If MANUAL, then the database is never automatically
restarts after a restart of the database host computer.
A MANUAL setting does not prevent the Restart Oracle
    database monitoring during operation and
    restarting if an error occurs.

    srvctl change option
    * 2.Enables allows you to change the configuration of the instance without deletion and addition
Resources of Oracle Clusterware. Using change preserves the environment in OCR
configuration which would otherwise have to be entered again. The configuration
description has been changed in the OCR configuration and a new Oracle Clusterware
the profile is generated and saved. The change takes effect when the application is
    then rebooted.
    For example:
    srvctl change asm
Change the listening port used by Oracle ASM, the Group of disk discovery string used by
Oracle ASM or the SPFILE used by Oracle ASM for a single instance database or a
    the cluster database.

All you have to do is to restart the surviving node. She's. Read your first post please check if eth1 is running.

By the way: eth1 cannot be the interface... vip vip interfaces like eth1: '0' - they are virtual interfaces. I´d guess eth1 is your
cluster of interconnection... If it's not available (regardless if the other node is still available or high) will refuse the ASM instance
    to start.

But as I have found your answers here tried to drop the node crashed so uncontrolled, which makes it worse?
If so there is a high possibility you messed up your configuration. But i´d start by checking your interfaces. If this is not
help I recommend opening a SR with Oracle.

(SERVICE_NAME = DRINFO) is a SERVICE not a SID. All you have to do is to start this service with DBMS_SERVICE. START_SERVICE after the passage or tipping. You can even do this with a trigger.

  • Rename the database 11g

    Hi all

    11.2.0.1

    AIX 6.1

I restore the database backup of PROD1, PROD2.

My original db name was PROD2, and now it became PROD1. I want to rename the PROD1, PROD2 in dbname.

I googled and found DBNEWID utility.

    This process is correct?

    ===========

Only change the name of the database

The following steps describe how to change the name of the database without changing the DBID.

    1. Ensure that you have a recoverable full backup.
    2. Make sure that the target database is mounted but is not open, and it was to stop systematically before mounting. For example:
      SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE STARTUP MOUNT
    3. Call the command line utility, specify a user validates with the SYSDBA privilege (you will be asked a password). You must specify both the DBNAME and SETNAME parameters. This example changes the name of test_db :
      % nid TARGET=SYS DBNAME=test_db SETNAME=YES

DBNEWID performs validations in the headers of the control files (not the data files) before attempting I/O files. If the validation is successful, then DBNEWID prompts, changes the name of data base in control files, the database stops and leaves. Here is an example of what the output for this would look like:

. . . Control Files in database: /oracle/TEST_DB/data/cf1.dbf /oracle/TEST_DB/data/cf2.dbf  The following datafiles are offline clean: /oracle/TEST_DB/data/tbs_61.dbf (23) /oracle/TEST_DB/data/tbs_62.dbf (24) /oracle/TEST_DB/data/temp3.dbf (3) These files must be writable by this utility.  The following datafiles are read-only: /oracle/TEST_DB/data/tbs_51.dbf (15) /oracle/TEST_DB/data/tbs_52.dbf (16) /oracle/TEST_DB/data/tbs_53.dbf (22) These files must be writable by this utility.  Changing database name from PROD to TEST_DB Control File /oracle/TEST_DB/data/cf1.dbf - modified Control File /oracle/TEST_DB/data/cf2.dbf - modified Datafile /oracle/TEST_DB/data/tbs_01.dbf - wrote new name Datafile /oracle/TEST_DB/data/tbs_ax1.dbf - wrote new name Datafile /oracle/TEST_DB/data/tbs_02.dbf - wrote new name Datafile /oracle/TEST_DB/data/tbs_11.dbf - wrote new name Datafile /oracle/TEST_DB/data/tbs_12.dbf - wrote new name Datafile /oracle/TEST_DB/data/temp1.dbf - wrote new name Control File /oracle/TEST_DB/data/cf1.dbf - wrote new name Control File /oracle/TEST_DB/data/cf2.dbf - wrote new name Instance shut down  Database name changed to TEST_DB. Modify parameter file and generate a new password file before restarting. Successfully changed database name. DBNEWID - Completed successfully.

If validation is not successful, then DBNEWID ends and leaves the database intact target. You can open the database, fix the error, and then resume the DBNEWID operation or continue to use the database without changing the name of the database. (For an example of what looks like the output for an unsuccessful validation, see step 3 of "changing the DBID and database name").

    4. Define the DB_NAME initialization parameter in the settings file to initialize (PFILE) to the new database name is . Note: The DBNEWID utility does not change the server settings file ( SPFILE ). Therefore, if you use SPFILE to start your Oracle database, then you must recreate the settings file to boot from the server settings file, delete the file from the server settings, change it DB_NAME in the initialization parameter file and then recreate the server settings file.
    5. Create a new password file.
    6. Start the database and resume normal use. For example:
      STARTUP

Because you have changed only the name of the database and not the database ID, it is not necessary to use the RESETLOGS option when you open the database. This means that all previous backups are still usable.
