RenderMode = ignored gpu? in Android 5.0

Description of the problem:

On some android devices, application falls back to cpu make mode instead of the GPU mode,

Despite declared in - app.xml (gpu < renderMode > < / renderMode >).

Profiled with Scout CC and confirmed 5 x ~ x 20 has increased the time consumed during the rendering.

indicating the engine AIR runtime renders the application only with software mode DisplayList.

Fall of serious fps observed on the following devices:

1 HTC Butterfly J HTV31 (Android OS version 5.0.2)

2 nexus 6 (Android OS v5.1.1)

3 Docomo F - 04 G (Android OS version 5.0.2)

Actual result:

Severe framerate drop to < 15 on the main menu screen.

Expected result:

Should be able to achieve targeted 30 frames / seconds with devices listed.

No work around:

Do not arrive in APK files built with AIR 16 build 292.

Does not happen in android devices with OS versions under v5.0

I'm not able to download your application, because the question "this app is incompatible with your peripheral countries."

But I have reproduced this issue in a sample project with AIR SDK 17.0.0.124.  This problem has been fixed in AIR SDK 18. Please download the latest version of the SDK from this link. Download Adobe AIR SDK and check your project with the AIR SDK 18.0.0.143

    Hello

    I began to receive reports more and more my Android users, saying that some items in my published applications are invisible to them.

    I have created a few Oracle applications maps, showing up to 44 cards in a coverflow style (see a screenshot here: http://www.indie-goes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Screenshot4.jpg.) You can also try a demo version here: http://www.indie-goes.com/apps/crystalwind/demo/)

    The free version of the app displays 10 cards in the coverflow and everything works fine. But when people get the full version through in-app purchase, which displayed 44 cards, no map appears at all: just the background.

    A few facts:

    -L'application is compiled in GPU mode

    -free and whole versions share the same code, so the only difference is the number of cards that will be displayed

    -cards are just bitmaps inside sprites, which I apply a rotationY effect

    -l'application does not actually crash: the elements are just invisible

    -J' tried to delete items that are outside the screen of the display (with removeChild) list, so there is always a maximum of 4 children cards displayed at the same time, but the problem is still occuring

    -If I change the compilation to the CPU mode, it works fine (but it is slow, of course)

    -This occurs at least for sure on a samsung galaxy 7 "tablet with Android 4.1.1 Jellybean

    I painfully gathered this information from my users, but I can't ask them to test each beta version that I create. Causes only two, I can understand that time is either: a compatibility with a specific GPU problem or a problem with the latest versions of the Android system.

    Someone else has the same problem?

    In fact, thanks to a very patient friend and after spending the day on this issue, I finally found what is the problem: it is rotationY than bugs.

    If I use this simple code:

    On a Motorola RAZR Maxx 4.1 Android, the stage is empty in GPU mode (and works well in CPU mode).

    If I comment the line: sprite.rotationY = 0;

    Then, it works fine even in GPU mode.

    I had to reimplement my Carousel, then he uses another effect (zoom instead of rotation), and now it works fine even on my device of friends.

    Therefore, there is a real bug in AIR 3.7.

    Hi guys, I have recently updated my windows at 10. Thus, it comes with the Directx12 version. I heard that DX12 will not even bi - GPU for SLI. Even an AMD and Nvidia cpu may collaborate as sli. So im wondering is it new ultrabays compatible gpu (such as gtx770, 880, 970) for housing ultrabay Y510P? I know y510p has a 170W power limits, but perhaps manufacturers could optimize. Maybe they focus the energy required for ultrabay slot with ignorant gpu real or by lowering the real power gpu. Thanks for the support...

    NEW: 980M GTX must be able to 122o. If its does not seem possible to be fit y510p.

    OK here it is, I have to play all the games on the resolution of 1920 * 1080 .

    Dragon Age Inquisition - 35 to 55 fps on med/high settings - Nov 2014

    Shadow of Mordor - 35-50 fps on med/high settings - seven 2014

    Other than these 2, I'm agree most of my collection is first games 2014 or late 2013, as the metro: rays, Bioshock Infinte etc. I'll be buying GTA V, The Witcher 3 soon (when they go on discount). I think Dragon Age to be quite intensive graphics, and it has beautiful effects.

    Have you checked your time CPU and GPU all in game?

    You use the latest NVIDIA driver?

    I never said things are "impossible". I said that it may not be considered in a future close because most of the games are already in the development pipeline. I don't think that the Bethesda will go back and support Fallout 4 for hybrid cards just because win 10 came out.

    Mafia 3 coming next year 2016, I don't think they'll add that are no longer supported. I'll be very surprised if none of the games do not really support that.

    What makes compatible Y510p may not be that difficult, BUT if Lenovo does not even 10 WIndows on Y510P (you know this right?) so why would they support new GPU Ultrabay. Is not my thought, that's what Lenovo did and I just let you know.

  • Display Android 20/21 of the air problem

    I have a soft, pretty complex, as the images of the places on a 3d sphere and lets the user move images via touch-hold and kick and click on the images. The same code works on Air 19 on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. The same code works on Air 20/21 on Windows, Mac, iOS, but not for Android. It works on Air Android 20/21, if I use the rendering of the cpu and gpu not rendered - but, I need on the Android gpu rendering because she makes a lot (and I mean) best answer. When I use the gpu on Android Air 20/21, the sphere seems to be ok as I can type where an image should appear and the app responds as it should, BUT I can't see the images on the sphere.

    I just tried my application with SDK 21, 150, beta and works with gpu rendering! Looks like this corrected version the problem - thanks.

  • Orientation change not right when rotating rear

    Hi all

    I just found a problem when trying to listen to policy changes. I am using SDK 1.0.1 and test on a device with OS 1.0.3.1868 installed. I hope that I can make clear:

    If I rotate the camera 360 degrees in the same direction, everything works fine. However, when I change the direction things become messy.

    Say my current orientation is in position 1 and I rotate in a clockwise direction to position 2. 2 position, if I tilt left back to position 1 fires a change event, but it is not actually change the orientation. The orientation itself remains in position 2, but it raise an event for change as evidenced by a screen flash.

    Now, the machine always shows the 2 position, but the device itself is physically in position 1. I have to physically rotate to position 2 and then back to 1 to see the content according to position 1.

    In other words, to get this behavior, I need to run a device twice. First of all in all directions, then in the opposite direction.

    The operating system changes to the correct position. The scene registers an ORIENTATION_CHANGE or RESIZE event, but not a real change that remains in the same position.

    I listened to StageOrientationEvent.ORIENTATION_CHANGE and Event.RESIZE scene with the same results.

    If I'm missing what is obvious, or is this a bug? I found in the incident handler.

    Found the culprit.

    In the application descriptor xml, the weirdness only happens when the renderMode is gpu:

    I'm trying to publish a SWF file or a file of projection with Flash CS5 that can play on any mobile device with the appropriate scaling and the intact interactivility?  Is it possible now?  If not, what other software or program needs.  The SWF file is approximately 26MB in size.

    They will start you on the pursuit of a fluid mobile interface. The general idea is that mentioned kglad, you have code depending on your application to intelligently move things on your environment.

    You never want to code "for a specific device. Rather just learn the rules to be really smooth and independent of resolution. This may mean parts of your interface are shown or hidden based on circumstances. It is not easy.

    Android is very fragmented experience. The different resolutions, IPR, and capacity means there is no miracle cure for you to develop something once and deploy everywhere without calculating anything. The market is developing so great for Android it's too big to ignore (meaning US, Android is already widely dominant on iOS where unit prices are not subsidized by carriers, which is mainly outside the United States). Learn to think on some construction projects with fluidity is an evil necessary.

    Specifying gpu has an effect on the Playbook, or it is simply ignored?

    The GPU rendering mode certainly has an effect.  Depending on the application, it could make a difference in performance.  However, many limitations, and the fact that it can be extremely buggy in some ways.  Many of us have tried games fairly simple and experienced problems with some parts of the GUI from time to time endangered.

    I tested with performance on iOS and test the rendermode GPU problems.

    In the descriptor file I can put automatic rendermode or CPU without problem, but when I use the GPU, the travel demand to the top and the bottom left and scales a little. So the part of the top and left are outside the screen and below and to the right of the application there is a lot of empty space.

    I am using Flash builder 4.5, 4.5.1 SDK (so AIR 2.7 as well or not?)

    THA app is very basic: 15 drawn bitmaps based on a world of Box2D with circleShapes and the accelerometer as gravity and works very well in all rendermodes. Just the step size and position is upwards in gpu rendermode.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    This is a known problem and workarounds are not be full screen, use CPU or AIR 2.6.

    It will not improve anything in fact, since apps this will activate when necessary. He is a developer option, used by developers. Having this option can actually cause problems if the apps that don't require not GPU is forced to use it.

    So, my suggestion is that you uncheck the box and keep this way, unless you develop your own app that needs test of GPU rendering.

  • Resolution of the iPad Cross with GPU rendermode

    Using Flash CS6 and latest air sdk v14.

    My air of 1024 x 768 for the iPad app wins a dramatic performance gain when the GPU rendering mode is enabled. However, if I set a high resolution the app is only half the size of the screen on the new iPads of 2048 x 1536, and if I've upgraded the quality is bad.

    Direct and modes of rendering cpu have pretty bad performance on all iPads. It's just very simple app, just buttons images and videos in their simplest form with a few page in and out tweens...

    Is there any solution to get good performance and quality on the two resolutions of the iPad?

  • Problem with mask in mask with mode GPU on a HTC m8

    Hi, this could be an old bug, we see a problem with AIR 15 and 16 on only this phone HTC Android (4.2.2) newish special. Our app uses GPU renderMode. The problem occurs if you have a MovieClip that is hidden with children who have children who are also hidden, so only the first hidden child renders. Also, make all other objects that are not hidden but if one of them has a mask, then that has not been made. This problem will not occur on an older One X HTC and HTC Desire 610 running the same version of Android (4.2.2). He can't get on Google Nexus 4 or iOS.

    There is a work around for this problem.  If we set cacheAsBitmap (this.cacheAsBitmap = true ;) property children hidden to true, then all children hidden will make correctly gpu mode.

    Determination of the sample application even with changing respective to solve the problem of Bug #3921039 - problem with mask mask with mode GPU on a HTC m8 . Inviting you to please publish the application with the method mentioned on your device for which this problem occurred.

    Note:

    The following documentation on the gpu rendering mode - http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/mobile/WS901d38e593cd1bac-3d719af412b2b394529-8000.html States that: "the GPU rendering is more restrictive in mobile AIR applications built with the packager for iPhone." The GPU is effective only for bitmaps, solid forms and display including the cacheAsBitmap property defined objects. "

    Hi all

    Is there a known issue with the publication of air for android applications that use filters (DropShadowFilter, BlurFilter)? As when I try the publication of my phone, the movieclips in question do not even at the scene, which is strange because they work fine when I preview them as a SWF on my computer. I tried to apply the filters in the library of CS5, and make using the code in my document classes and doesn't seem to work! Of course, I tried with cacheAsBitmap (Matrix) on and outside as well.

    Just wondering if its something which is not supported? Or if there is a way around it?
