• Windows Update keeps repeating.

  I have Windows XP SP3 OS. I have the auto update feature set. Windows is my default firewall. Successfully and recently I downloaded and installed the following updates:

  A security update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 SP2 on Windows server 2003 and Windows XP x 86 (KB2832411).

  Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and the .NET Framework 3.5 family Update for versions of .NET 2.0 to 3.5 (KB951847) x 86.

  The problem is one or both come back as new updates. I have installed at least three times, and yet I still get the repetitions.

  Can someone tell me how to prevent the repetition of these updates?

  Hi 10crackers, thanks for the help. Your suggestion has helped to solve the problem I had. First I ran the repair of Microsoft .NET Framework tool, but who has not remedied the problem. I was about to follow your next steps suggested to uninstall the .NET Framework 3.5 and others, but before doing that I decided to see what updates have been installed in Add/Remove programs. Security update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 SP2 Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x 86 (KB2832411) has been installed in fact but kept repeating the offer to install a new update. To my surprise, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and the .NET Framework 3.0 versions of .NET 2.0 to 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x 86 was not installed that each Setup attempt has been highlighted as a successful download and installation. Once I saw KB951847 update has not been installed I just went to Windows Update and select custom scan as you suggest. And KB951847 was the only necessary update. Once I downloaded and installed this update offer repeated editing has ceased. This update has been done a few hours ago now, and so far no repeated updates offers. Even if I did have to uninstall all .NET frameworks you suggested, I have still Bravo will give you to send me to the Add/Remove Programs then Windows updates. These are the right things.

  I'm stuck in a repetitive cycle of the installation of three updates that loads OK set up all three steps on turn off the computer to restart, but on retarting the computer goes through a process of configuration of all three steps again only to fail with the message.

  Audit of the error in the log it gives 8007005 which seems to be a catch-all.

  I managed uinstalled - and configured Windos - several updates without problem, so I don't see that I should have a problem of "permissions".

  Someone give me a clue as how to deal with this issue?

  This error can occur because of a bad permissions on a particular file or registry key because it is generally bound to the access denied message.

  Method 1: First check if you are logged on as administrator on the computer. Once you have enabled this, refer to the below mentioned the thread that has a similar problem. (See the advice given by Kim - Support Engineer)

  It is now April 2013, I purchased my XPS 10 a few months before. Last month whenever I try to download the updated Windows I get an error message that the update failed and when I trouble shoot results are due to the database of Windows Update error 0 x 80070490. As I said, this condition has just begun last month.

• Cannot install Windows update to upgrade Windows 8.1

  My Windows 8.1 has been compromised and high jacked by research, Conduit, iStart123 and FreeSoftware. I was able to remove Search, ducts and iStart123 but FreeSoftware refused to be removed from the control panel and the resident file sets. I used the recovery feature that has erased my 8.1 and other add-ons such as MS Word, Access, Visio, and so on.   Thank you for your response. I have solved the problem and here's what I ended up doing. I made an another REFRESHMENT. After I did the updates of Windows immediately. I realized it was my biggest mistake first time around. Instead, I added in all my apps are deleted and the modules. Needless to say the loading updates on practically without a hitch. I then re - load my apps are erased and the Add-ons. After changing my Windows 8.1 screen everything worked as it should. Once again, thanks for the timely response.

  an option may be to tackle this particular update for now until there is a fix from microsoft or you could also look at if there is a graphics driver update available on the Web site of the seller (intel/amd/nvidia) which could also be solved this problem in some cases.
