Recovery media need to reinstall

Original title: Lost my recovery disc (7032 advent laptop) - have Activation Code etc, can I get a free demo of Vista or something that I can restore from?

Basically, as the title says, I managed to get some 20 virus on my laptop, so I had to wipe everything including the Vista operating system. Unfortunately, I have not found my recovery CD in 6 months or so that I was looking for. Again, I have my activation code on the bottom of my laptop, so is it possible to return Vista on my laptop without having to shell out another £35 to the advent and the Tech Guy? I appreciatereallyhelp on this issue, Ubuntu (which I use now) is driving me crazy and, frankly, has nothing on Windows 98, never mind Vista!

See you soon,.

Here are the different ways to make a recovery:

Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • Reinstall upgrade WIN8 on Satellite L870 - Toshiba Recovery Media Creator
    Hello
    I did the upgrade from WIN 8 on a laptop Toshiba L870-156. The upgrade is OK, but I have no more creative media recovery Toshiba, as the upgrade procedure, said he should be desinstalled before upgrading and reinstalled after the upgrade.
    I have a big problem: where can I find a Toshiba Recovery Media Creator to reinstall?
    In advance thank you.
    Hello
    The Toshiba Recovery Media Creator can be used only with a system pre-installed (in your case of Win 7).
    The recovery media Creator allows you to create pre-installed image recovery disc.
  • Re: Equium P300-P6T - double boot, need to reinstall but can't access the recovery
    Hello
    Have a friend s EQUIUM P300-P6T wishing me fix but recovery issues.
    It currently has windows 7 installed on separate partitions WXP can choose which operating system to start when loading. The factory for the laptop is Vista but it has replaced the one with 7.
    However, some of the Vista Boot files are damaged and cannot be mounted by Windows Recovery then resembles a new Vista installation is necessary.
    This should not seem like a problem but:
    (a) I tried holding 0 down as I turn to access the recovery partition (which still exists I see it within the management of the computer if I load xp) but it doesn't do anything, so I can't recover from the recovery partition.
    (b) I tried to reinstall Vista on this partition by using a disk of vista OEM however, when it happens at the stage of "complete installation" the progress bar stays in the same place forever about 3/4 of the way through as if it crashed.
    (c) I managed to get an installation of windows 7 on it, but when I charged it, it does not recognize the keyboard or a touchpad (even if not a problem with the drivers for each), and yet the cursor can be moved with a USB mouse is connected. In addition, the boot partition has now given a choice of "xp", vista, the older installations of windows
    I now put the computer to the original state, it was at the moment. However, the road I want to go down is to use the recovery partition to restore the factory settings on this particular partition and Vista.
    Does anyone have ideas how I can do this, or what is my best solution? As I said, now pressed 0 while starting has no effect yet the recovery partition is still existing on the hard drive.
    Unfortunately there is no recovery media that I have access to.
    Thank you
    Hello
    The whole story is very interesting and I wish I could help somehow. Your ad is quite long with very useful information, but, if I understand you correctly, you want to just install Vista original recovery image. Can you confirm this?
    If you have any other questions please ask one by one, and then we can answer one by one.
    Anyway, if your answer is YES here is my explanation:
    Saved on the HARD drive recovery image can be used with the factory only settings. With other words: when the original recovery image is installed, you will have full access to this recovery image. In the case where some other OS is installed (Win7 or WXP) this original condition will be overwritten and you will lose this recovery option (HARD drive recovery facility). Only way it have factory settings again is to use the recovery DVD disc. If your friend didn't create this disc (without taking into account the recommendation of Toshiba s) that you have big problem now.
    Please tell us once more what are your options now. What do you do now?
  • Need help with the recovery partition/create recovery media
    HI - first thing I did when I got my thinkpad is a clean install of w7, but then I thought about it and restored the recovery partition, conviniently located at the end of the training, in order to create a backup dvd factory. Thing is, when I click the autorun (lenovoqdrive.exe) and select 'create recovery media', I get an error stating that "program files (x 86) \lenovo\factory recovery\recovburncd.exe" is missing... obviously since the operating system partition was crushed.
    I tried RnR and looked on the software + drivers page and nothing happens as "... \lenovo\factory recovery\" when it is installed. So, where can I download the program that creates the recovery discs?
    (I know possible to restore the operating system of the *.wim file but I want to leave that as a last resort).
    Okay here's what I did to who mightve had the same question: as mentioned earlier, I have restored the partition Q with (your favorite free partition recovery tool), then booted from a usb winpe (with imagex) generated from victory aik (free).
    first I deleted (from winpe boot usb) windoze partition with diskpart and recreated the 2 partitions S & C (and Q is on the left) by hand according to 'recovery.ini' found on q. then I restored S and C 'sdrivebackup.wim' and 'cdrivebackup.wim', respectively, using imagex.exe, which is actually two one liners.
    Finally, I tried the bcd to fixation by hand according to "bcdinfo.txt", also found on Q, but that did not really work... so I just jumped into a bootable win7 USB and he rewrote the bcd by itself (I assume). the last step has been fixing the mbr by using /fixmbr and /fixboot bootrec.exe.
    ATM I started just and afaict it behaves exactly like the first start-up of the plant. see you soon
  • HP recovery media does not, need to do the second set of recovery on USB media.
    Hello
    I have a new HP Envy laptop that I have created a set of recovery on six DVD media.  These work very well, but are a pain in the end to keep pending next DVD to load.
    So I tried to make another recovery media and place it on a USB key.  Discovered, that it will not allow a second value created.
    So I then ordered and paid for a recovery of HP media.  A beautiful labeled Microsoft USB key came. Great, I thought.
    My laptop because of my fault I failed and wouldn't boot.  So I decided to use my new HP USB stick and after that go into the BIOS and disable the boot from USB stick and start secure etc as he said to it returned with an error that "this computer can not be recovered from this media!"
    I then pluged in my DVD - ROM external and used drive recovery media that I did and it worked perfectly!
    I tried the live chat with a technical person of HP and they checked the serial number and said I got what should work.  They could do a repair ticket and send the laptop.
    It makes no sense to me as I have the unit upwards and running, but I wanted to know how I could get a USB work recovery media.
    I ended up saying goodbye as they were of no help.
    My questions are:
    (1) why this media does not work?
    (2) is it possible to make a second set of recovery media?
    (3) is there a way to transfer my recovery media DVD 6 on a USB?
    OLD POST > I first noticed the order said it was a pn 735088-002 and a sticker outside the wand that has the same number, BUT when he looks at a name on the flash drive is 735088-DB2... >
    UPDATE:
    The new USB recovery media came today from HP.   He had again the same top part number that the original order has been 735008-002, BUT this time the corresponding came USB drive name to the tile. 735008-002 , I inserted this new media and it is fully charged.
    Thank you for all your help.
