My question is this; is there a manual or a guide on how to, 1. physically, replace the hard drive and 2. record information that may exist on my hard drive crashed? Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hello:

There are many models of dm3.

I pulled a repair of the dm3-2000 series. I hope that this layout is the same.

Read Chapter 4 of the procedure on the removal and replacement of the hard disk. Do not throw the old hard drive.

You will need to the caddy, the connector and screw to transfer to the new.

Before you remove the hard drive, you can see if you can copy your files on a USB portable hard drive by downloading, burn it to a CD (using the ISO burning method) and make a the Kapersky rescue CD bootable CD. This will allow you to see the folders on your C:\ drive using the method of the graphical interface of the program execution.

Then you can copy and paste your files on your portable hard drive.

If the rescue CD can not see your hard drive, there's probably nothing you can do anything to the drive for recovery.

  • Laptop HP 15 (r063tu): would replace drive HARD regular with SSD boost speed & performance significantly on my HP 15 laptop?

    Hello

Regular HGST (Hitachi) hard drive failed on my HP 15 laptop and I chose to replace it with a spare Seagate Momentus 500 GB HDD (because of the emergency). I read in some other posts on this forum that SSDs increase startup speed and general performance much more conventional hard drives. In addition, seems SSD uses less power and generates less heat, which is optimal for laptop computers. Although SSDS are still quite expensive compared to regular hard drives (a regular 500 Gb portable HDD costs about Rs. 3500, or about $50), all in an SSD with a capacity of 240 GB Samsung / available on Amazon.in Kingston costs about Rs. 5000 (about $70). Thus, a half of the capacity of a normal HARD drive SSD hard drive costs still much more

Would consider to replace my current HARD drive with an SSD if it's worth the investment (I intend to use this laptop for more than two years).

Also, please confirm if my model supports SSDS, as he has probably that one Bay to hold an SSD or a normal HARD drive. Would be useful you can offer a good/model mark of SSDS as well. Thank you very much.

    See you soon!

I support the opinion of Hüffer about SSDS and laptops.

I replaced the spinner in my laptop HP 2011 with an SSD and it's like having a new machine.  It starts instantly and runs a lot faster, more I don't have to worry about the rotation drive going bad.

An SSD is the best investment to improve the performance of your laptop.

    Good luck

    Thank you.

Now that I have a drive high speed there is no advantage in order to maintain the 16 GB mSATA SSD disk cache?

Answer: IMO, cache ssd is no longer since you already have an equal or faster ssd drive.

Answer: You can deleted or you can format and use it as a data disc.

    (Over four years)

Looking across the net, but can't find any information on this advice - has
It is hoped that someone had done a similar job. I know that the HDD in
This machine supports the SATA drives, but I don't know if the motherboard
supports several types of SATA drives. I have read several topics on
users who have bought an SSD for the replacement of the old HARD disk in
the laptop - just to find out that the motherboard did was too old and has not been
compatible with SSDS. Even if the motherboard supports some types
SSDS, this is no guarantee that it will work with the purchased SSD.

The SSD I think to buy, will be one of them:

Corsair SSD Force Series 120GB 2.5 GT "
    SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3.0), 555MB / 515 MB/s write 85 k IOPS (4 k aligned), w/support

    or this one:

    Corsair SSD Force Series 3 120 GB 2.5 "
    SATA 6 Gb/s (SATA3.0), 550MO/510 MB/s read/write,® SandForce SF-2281

(the first is the better of the two SSD drives, but the last of them has
SandForce integrated, which (from what I've read) is preferred with
old computers when upgrading for SSDS).

If someone could give me some info on this topic, I would be
    very grateful!

It is always problematic to be around some old piece of newer hardware standards and technology. I n t have this old Satellite but my friend had it.

Satellite L40's old laptop budget very simply the hardware configuration, so I think that you will not be able to use newest SSDS to this topic.

I really hope someone else can post a positive experience on these updates. What you can try is to contact nearest Toshiba service provide by phone and ask for some advice. They have exact specifications for laptop and, I hope, can help you with this.

By the way: I put t know what is the reason for these updates? More performance, more low composition of power or something else?

  • Replace drive hard ze4900 with disk 5400 RPM?

I am trying to replace the HARD drive on a ze4904US Pavilion Notebook, Phoenix BIOS F.15...  The original drive is a 40 GB 4200 RPM ATA drive.  I found a 5400 RPM 40 GB ATA HDD, rider that he is a slave, installed, but it is not editing as C:.  This laptop does support the 5400 RPM drives?  Should he be attached as master or slave?

I can boot from the CD of the OS, which displays the C:\ > and complains that the path is bad.  Try to install Windows XP immediately fails with an IO error.

If I start the recovery console, WFP, I can see the partition (\device\harddisk0\partition1), but it is not a drive letter assigned.

If I drop in the BIOS, run the HARD drive test, it displays 'Diagnostics not supported' and 'Device No. IDE'

The drive 5400 RPM came a Win Vista laptop and was initially cavalier as master.  If I leave it set as master boot, a CD of SystemSuite, he gripes 2-4 e/s, (ignored) errors, takes about 10 minutes to pass the time-outs of the IO error, but finally sees the old partition on Win Vista.  So I know that the equipment is in place OK.  Trying to do a trivial co-operation (volume set name) fails.

I would like to reformat the drive and start with a file system clean, but format C:/FS: NTFS, fails with "drive not valid or not drive."

I think I can build a bootable CD to update to e.16, the HP BIOS later.  That would support the drive 5400 RPM?

Fixed! Found a Hitachi Travelstar 60 GB HDD, 7200 RPM, IDE interface, was attached to CSEL, inserted in the HP Pavilion ze4904us, put under tension and it worked like a charm.  The car was seen by the BIOS/advanced/HDD/Diag and it test very well, at least through quick check of phase 1, then I released on bail.  Under BIOS/Palestinian territories occupied? / BootOrder the drive is detected correctly (displays the correct model ID).  Installed WinXP and on my way.

I used the HP WinXP SP2 original installation CD.  Does not all of the HW (WLAN, VGA), video drivers.  Subsequently found most of these on the HP/Support/downloads page.  Lack yet the program Program Files/utility/One-Touch to change the definition of the buttons easy One-Touch access at the top of the keyboard, but the work of bindings by default OK.

  • replace drive hard kaput?

When my computer was unable to reboot and chkdsk and the following disk repair utility would not work, I paid to have the laptop looked at by a pro. It turns out that the HARD drive has failed. So the question is: can I replace the drive hard when all I have to work with are the recovery disks that I made when the computer is new? (Door NV57H) The OEM of Windows 7 will be on these discs, which allows installation pretty simple hard drive and recovery? Can I go with a SSD? As a smart enough DYIer with some knowledge of computers, but limited reparations experience can handle such a task?

SSD become cheaper these days for sure

They may fail, as any player, as you've seen personally.

System images are the best way to retrieve install lost hdd or ssd, but they must be on other devices / hdd before they are viable

But Yes if the recovery cd creation took place all you have to do is install a new drive and the boot CD #1

If you burn the recovery DVD, you don't need the recovery partition... they hold the same data. I try the clone on the new drive and see if it works. If it isn't then you still have the original drive and nothing has been lost. Reported problems with the migration of Samsung software. Personally, I use Acronis True Image Home for cloning, and it is not.
