  I'm working on a material report for my ESX hosts. This issue is more a question of a matter of powercli powershell, but I know that people smart here will be able to help!

  I have a file which contains some output. The output is a host name and a model of my ESX Server.

  It looks like this:

  host1.domain1PowerEdgeM610

  host2.domainxyzPowerEdgeM710

  I want to look like this:

  host1.Domain1, PowerEdgeM610

  host2.domainxyz, PowerEdgeM710

  but account for any host name or the model (using wildcards)

  I try to use the command replace to enter a comma between the host name and server type. All types of servers are something PowerEdge.

  I can't understand the syntax to do this... Anyone has any suggestions on a command replace to replace * power * with *, * power while retaining the name and model?

  You can use the - replace to do such a replacement, such as:

  "host1.domain1PowerEdgeM610" -replace "(.*)(PowerEdge.*)", "`$1,`$2"
  

  However, it might be better to focus less on string manipulation and use some of the power of PowerShell using simply the properties of objects which you retrieved strings.  So, rather than create a string that is hostnameHostModel then having to divide with some regex, you could simply select 'Name' and 'Model' properties of the given VMHosts:

  PS C:\> Get-VMHost | Select-Object Name,Model
  
  Name             Model----             -----vmhost0.dom.com  HP DL580 G8vmhost1.dom.com  HP DL580 G8
  

  So, if you need a CSV data file, you can then export the information to CSV, via Export-Csv:

  PS C:\> Get-VMHost | Select-Object Name,Model | Export-Csv c:\temp\myVMHostInfo.csv -UseCulture

  I upgraded successfully to PowerCLI 6.0 Release 1 to PowerCLI 6.0 Release 2.

  After that, I wanted to add a new license to the license in bulk newly deployed ESXi Hosts with Auto deploy but encountered the following error:

  It is a backward compatibility problem that was introduced in PowerCLI 6.0R2. It will be addressed in a version of the next patch very soon, but until then, you can work around

  replacement of

  'VMware.VimAutomation.License.Types.LicenseData '.

  with

  'VMware.VimAutomation.License.Types.V1.LicenseData '.

  Keep in mind that if you do the above to make your script works and later upgrade your PowerCLI to a version more recent that you should check back this change in scripts.

  I wouldn't recommend allows you to replace the hybrid HARD drive on your own even if hand warranty isn't valid anymore.
  Why?
  Because the after replacing a drive HARD or SSD, RAID and TSRI (quick start of Intel technology) mode will not be available.

  To rebuild the factory RAID mode and allow the TSRI, special tools are needed and this can be done by the authorized Toshiba maintainer.

  So even if you would be able to remove the bottom cover and hybrids of HARD drive, the new inserted SSD would not be able to achieve the best performance.

  As my Satellite M30-642 does not offer a modular Bay for the installed switches and I have a DVD burner for USB that I can use I think try an experiment: withdrawal of the DVD drive and replace it with an extra HDD/SSD.

  As SSDS are very light, have no moving parts and does not necessarily need screws to be installed and the slot DVD brings the IDE and this could work to power connector. The DSS must be placed inside an old and updated the slimline cd-rom so that the change is not visible and the laptop is safe from dust etc.

  Has anyone tried something like this before? Are there solutions to buy for Sat M30 (2004 vintage)?

  As far as I know the Sat M30 doesn t support the slim select Bay and, therefore you cannot use this adapter instead of the CD/DVD drive.

  The answer is Yes in all areas. The laptop will accept any 2.5 inch wide disk SATA 9.5 or 7 mm thick and which includes mechanical hard drives and Solid State drives. Where are you located (one country)? Hard drives and SSDS for laptops are a part of the goods. You can pick them up at a Best Buy or Frys if you live where there are no Frys or you can use amazon.com or newegg.com or similar online service. The prices vary a lot, so it is useful to get a good deal. A 1 to SSD can run more than $300, you know. Need instructions for installing and/or migrating software? We are a bit like McDonalds here in the Forum... served billion regarding replace drive hard/updates to level. One of the specialties of the House, so to speak.

  Hi Ken,

  There is no reason that you should not be able to install and run Windows 7 on your laptop.

  While it is true that HP provide no Windows 7 drivers for machines shipped with Windows 8, you should always be able to find all the relevant Win 7 drivers, you will need.
