Replacement help Equium EA60-155?

Without apparent reason, using 'K' of my Equium has come off. I tried a bit of gentle violin but cannot replace it.

It is possible, but a pain to get the letter by pressing the key on the keyboard base.

Does anyone know if it is possible for the user to replace - I really can't manage without the laptop for days if I get a Toshiba service center to fix it.

Thanks in advance,

Phil

PS I guess I'm lucky that it is not the 'E '!

Hi Phil,

I managed to replace some of the keys on my keyboard SA30, usually because of their duty be removed to remove the small items that my young son invariably drops in them.

First of all, you need to remove the help of the lever mechanism 'X '. To do my lifting gently down all aid by keeping in place the mechanism of 'X '. (If you try to remove the top aid you brak the clips that hold it in place.).

With the help of deleted, you must wind up the mechanism of 'X' for the keyboard itself. You will see four pegs platic bit that should be locked under the metal brackets on each side of the current key. Again, be very careful not to break the components because this will make them useless). You can find easier to remove another help to see exactly how the 'X' lever mechanism is installed.

Once the lever 'X' is back in place then go back help by hooking the two upper clips in place and Gardner by pressing the lower part of assistance until you feel a slight "click" which indicates that aid is now well in place.

Good luck.

  • Equium EA60-155 has no much memory

Bought a few months ago and I'm not expected that unity is very slow. When I click on the information system, it indicates that memory is just 192 MB - is it just me, or isn't this supposed to be at least 256 MB on these machines?

[Edited by: admin on 29 July 05 06:44]

    Hi Colin,

Your EA60 uses the shared RAM for the graphics card. This means that a part of your available RAM is reserved for use graphics (usually 64 MB) and the rest is available for use of the general system. The effect is to reduce your available RAM: 256 MB to 192 MB when you query your information system.

Your BIOS may have an option (UMA I think) that will allow you to change this allocation. The options available are 16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB and 128 MB. Generally, 64 MB is the default, but if you do not use the software which is dependent on the graphic quality usually (game or utility of photograph), then you can reduce to make more RAM available for general use.

This weird thing with my ram got a day is the next 64 MB 256 MB any ideas and how expensive of difficulty? I'd just be able to buy more for the expansion slot?

    see you soon

    Hello

You can upgrade the memory maximum. 1024 MB and a slot is available because this camera has 256 MB of internal memory.
    These modules are memory compatible:

    PC2700 256 MB (PA3311U - 1 M 25)
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
    1024MO PC2700 (PA3313U-1M1G)

This unit has a shared memory graphics card. Sometimes the graphics card needs memory RAM memory. I n t have any other explanation for this

  • Equium A60-155 - Wireless is not lit

Recently, I have an old Toshiba Equium EA60-155 off a friend for my nephew because he doesn't have a computer. It didn't work, but I would like to fix things.

It was designed for XP and only has 768 MB of RAM, but works very well that now, I put XP back on except a problem. There were a couple of missing drivers, that I found and installed, BUT it doesn't have a wi - fi card.

I plugged an old Wireless LAN CardBus PC Card and had the driver for it. Bulbs work on the map, and everything is OK in Device Manager. Even the Windows Wifi can capture my network.

The problem is that the current Wi - fi does not seem to be on. Well the front light is not on. However, there is no power switch on this model.

There is the Fn F8 button, BUT it seems to be the only Fn button that does nothing. I had to install a few other drivers for the other Hotkets, etc... at work, BUT I ran out of drivers to install.

I guess that there must be a driver or a program that activates the key F8.

Anyone has any ideas, I have searched high and low and most of the ideas for getting knowhere.

I need to replace the hard drive in my equium A60-155. I need to know what is compatible with this model and if the brand of the drive is important in compatibility. For example should be a drive hard toshiba or is it possible to others.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

You n t need to install a HDD in particular of Toshiba. You can also use disk of another company.

It is important that you use a HARD drive with support for hardware specifications.

I found these useful discussions on the replacement of the HDD on the Satellite and Equium A60:

    Hello

Unfortunately, don t find all documents on the fan to replace procedure, but in my opinion it should remove much of a screw covers.
This procedure is not easy and if you don't have any experience you shouldn't t remove anything.
By the way; If you remove the cover, you will lose the warranty.

In this case, the best way is to contact Toshiba service in your country for assistance and more information.

  • Equium EA60-191: HARD disk faulty-need of replacement

I have a laptop Toshiba Equium EA60-191, which has a Fujitsu MHT2040AT hard drive installed. This drive is on its way, and I'm having some difficulty in finding the same type. Does anyone know a compatible player that will work in this phone?

    Thank you

You may not use the same drive to disk (from the same manufacturer). You can buy Toshiba HDD or even some other manufacturers. Important is that the connector is the same.

Just for example: according to the specifications of the laptop, your A60 comes with 40 GB of HARD drive. You can get Toshiba MK6021GAS with 60 GB and it should work on your computer satellite phone.

  • Motherborad Exchange on Equium A60-155

    Hello

can anyone help please. I have an Equium A60-155 dead (PSA67E-00300C8J).
This laptop I had since and is awesome, I recently spilled and that pushed the power in unity cable adapter, initially when running back (as it was off when he went) it worked, I noticed that the adapter has been pressed and waved it I heard it I think has a little spark and now the laptop tries to fire for a few seconds and turns off now I think the motherboard is dead and I am able to buy a motherboard to another model satellite A60-152 PSA67E-00200D8J, but can't find any information about this model.

Someone know if I can put my p4 2.8 in this forum and use it or have a plug on this forum?
If anyone can help I would be very grateful.
    Thank you very much
    Colin

    Hi mate

You can use another motherboard to another satellite or Satellite A60.
But the stronger CPU depends on the chipset located on your motherboard.
You should first check the specifications of the chipset, and then you know what CPU would be compatible.

But note; replacing the motherboard is delicate. I doubt you could do this without additional assistance of a technician. In addition the DMI and firmware must be updated after the replacement of the mobo. This is necessary because the CPU would stick with 600 Mhz if the microcode would not be updated. This can be done by a technician of ASP.

That's why I donation to recommend t this is

  • Equium A60-155 died - how to change the motherboard?

    Hello

A week ago, I used my laptop Equium A60-155, I turned it off for the night. The next morning, he lights up no battery or AC, the lights on the front of the LT do not come on either.

I tested the AC and it is very much pushing the 14.8V.

On another forum suggested to abolish the HD to see if that would help (it didn't).

So it might be that the MOBOs dead (in which case I'll have to buy a new one when I get a job, or internal theers fuse who jumped (if it exists).)

If there is an internal fuse can I replace it myself and what is? (I'm on a job and can not afford the repair costs, some charge 70 Quid to pick it up, and another Bill 110 quid + parts)

I guess it's just a matter of undoing the screws on the bottom?

    Hello

I suggest also to contact the ASP in your country, because he can do a diagnostic test and can give you a detailed response.
Maybe you n t need to change the Board of Directors, and perhaps only the part low cost has a failure.
But to find out the laptop must be verified.

  • My opinion on the Toshiba Equium A60-155

I've had an Equium A60 - 155 during almost a year now and I'm quite impressed by it. For £730 I paid for it, not worth it.

I had to increase the ram with another stick 512 for another £60 as the laptop does not work even with the standard 192. By that, I mean system breaks down, abnormal system responses, spontaneous reboots, system files/missing features, anti-virus program, just basically a machine unreliable, unusable failures.

I will say that now the extra ram is installed, the software is more stable and most previous problems disappeared. But Toshiba is expected to have delivered it with 512 MB in the first place!

And the battery on this is terrible! There is barely even a laptop! On a good day with battery all the saving settings on max I get about 50 minutes of it--and Yes, a year ago, when it was new, it would last together 30 more minutes at about 1:20. At the point where the thing was started in Windows and you install to work, it is for food then you might as well forget about asking him and always run from the network.

How Toshiba charge that kind of money for a laptop that has this kind of performance? There is nothing on the laptop that can justify this money... the graphics card? Average. The processor? Celeron - enough said. The motherboard? Standard. The battery life? Laughable. The DVD burner? A bonus, but not worth the extra money. The size? Large.

Just that there is more that I could do about it I wish and Toshiba could be made aware of the misery that they have caused me (and probably many others) during this 'portable '.

    * Note to the mods - please do not remove this post once again. Why do you feel the need to remove it anyway? Send me an email.

I don't want to sound harsh, but you shouldn't really complain if you had bothered to check the specifications before you buy. Regarding the system crash that you can't just blame Toshiba is much poorly written drivers in XP bugs bugs in the BIOS firmware. Make sure you have XP installed with all the latest service packs for updates also updates BIOS (there has been 3 since I bought my A60-181) and if you want to try a different operating system to install Linux or use a distribution like Knoppix bootable CD.
The battery life on laptops are poor, in general, I have seen some rival brands that quoted 1.5 hours but that the technology for you and having a processor Celeron doesn t s helped no more. That said that 50 minutes seems short for load complete so I recommend to contact Toshiba and see if they replace.
The Admin of this forum is probably done only by ensuring that all messages on this forum to help are useful asking the nature. Making negative comments about products Toshiba on a Toshiba forum isn't clever but if you have a problem, then ask for help instead.

    see you soon,

  • Equium A60-155 will not start

    Hello

I have an Equium a60-155, that I knew that she works for a while, but recently I came with a new poroblem... my laptop guard turn off without notice and loses all power.

The battery has been dead for some time and lasts about 5 seconds, but I've been using the AC adapter.

Recently, she stops and even the LED lights for the power/battery adapter / is not on.

At first I thought it was the fuse in the adapter which could have been blown so I replaced it, and it started to work again, but then after a few minutes, it stops and lost all power.

I had this during the last days and I noticed that it regains power when I unplug the power adapter from the mains supply and remove the fuse and put it back in but his lasts only for a few minutes.

I don't know if it is a hardware problem or I just need a new adapter. Someone at - it similar problems and can offer any adivce?

    Hello!

What do you think that the laptop is overheating? I don't know, but if so the laptop would also immediately turn off m.
So, try to clean the laptop with a jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. So you don't have to disassemble the laptop.

If it doesn't help it's really hard to say what the reason is for this maybe you should bring the laptop to an authorized service provider. Technicians can check the laptop.

    Good bye

  • Equium A60-155, don't 'sees' new HARD drive

I have an old Equium A60-155, P5A67E and tried to install a new drive hard - one Samsung 120 GB, 5400 RPM IDE.
However the BIOS (ver 1.90) is not 'see' and has no auto-detection option I see either - in fact it has very few options for anyone!

The existing drive (original) is a Fujitsu 40 GB IDE.

The 120 GB should be not OK, below the barrier of 128 Gb? - but would be using a suitable HARD drive utility (-Samsung offers a version of OnTrack) to make the drive HARD smaller 'look' for the Bios, be any help anyway? Is that the new drive faulty? Any other ideas?

    Any help is appreciated!

I agree with you and think that 120 GB should be recognized correctly. It is not easy to say what the problem is here. BIOPS value default settings and check again. If the same problem persists, try using a different HDD with 80 or 100 GB to see if any of them will be recognized correctly.

Problem is that you have limited options with all this and that he cannot do much. Either it is admitted or not.
