Replicas in local SSD and BONES on the shared storage, discovers 5.1

If we have vMotion betoween local data warehouse functionality, why can't use us the same functionality for local SSD for VMware View?

I get the following error, which I find very frustrating.

Lack of view composer: Invalid ReplicationDatastoreMoId parameter for the provision of office. Reason: ValidationFailure

The obvious difference between the two is the fact that the replica is hit with a steady clones IO stream, while the new vMotion is not constant.   Also, if I'm not mistaken it is limited to the same number of simultaneous migrations as vMotion and Storage vMotion.

  • A very basic question about the shared storage

To implement GR 11, 2 in Sun SPARC 5.10, our sys admins have allocated block devices in the shared storage and they sent us a letter mentioning the disks. This is what looks like their mail

    Storage attached with the Node1
    /dev/rdsk/c4ikdzs3
    /dev/rdsk/c4ikdzs4
    .
    .
    Storage attached to Node2
    /dev/rdsk/c5ikdzj2
    /dev/rdsk/c5ikdzj5
    .
    .
    When I connect with the Node1: / dev/rdsk, I see

as they have said. Same for Node2

Not exactly, if you are referring to the names of devices...

Each core will make a discovery to support when starting. When dealing with the LUN through one HBA (or similar), there is absolutely no guarantee that the nuclei will detect the LUNS in the same order and assign the same scsi device names to them. A LUN can be called device-foo-1 on a single server and device-foo-21 on another.

In addition, several HBAs will be dual port and dual fiber running channels. So, not only is the same logic unit seen as a scsi device, different number of each core but you can see more than once. Device-foo-1 and device-foo-33 may be the same physical LUN on server 1.

To solve this logical device name is required. This will be the name of the same device on all servers - and that it will support multiple paths of I/O to the LUN in turn seamlessly. This is done by looking at the unique signature of the SCSI - called WWID or World Wide nameof the software "special driver. With this unique signature, s/w only recognizes a specific LUN, regardless of what server s/w runs on.

This s/w is called Multipath on Linux, EMC Powerpath and so on. I expect that you will have something similar on your servers.

Scsi device that is mapped by the kernel to the unit number logic is not used. In the case of multipath , for example, use the + / dev/mpath/mpath+ devices. In the case of Powerpath, these will be + / dev/emcpower+ devices.

What are the names of device you will use to 11g Grid Infrastructure and Oracle ASM and RAC installation and configuration of shared storage.

I've been strugling for awhile now!

I am completely new to this so if you can keep it nice and simple, would be great!

Have your program files on the HARD drive defeated the purpose of having an SSD in the first place. The goal is to start the operating system and load your programs faster.

Then, install the operating system and programs on the SSD and store your personal files (Documents, music, photos, videos etc.) on the HARD disk.

Demarrer start from the Windows 7 DVD, and then select the SSD drive during installation

For information about how to modify your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, see the following tutorial:

    http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/

Click Custom install Windows only (Advanced)

Select the SSD drive, and then click Next.

Once Windows 7 is installed, you can redirect personal folders on the HARD drive to store your files.

  • Windows MCE and connect to the shared directory of the server

Well, I know it's more a matter of Microsoft than a Qosmio question, however, I think that it is better to ask here among others who can actually thought it out instead to pay $95 to Microsoft to answer a question which ought to be established somewhere anyway.

I have a LAN in my house with several password protected Windows 2003 servers. I do not use a domain system because I've never been fond of roaming computers that belong to a domain.

I prefer also to encrypt and password protect files on my computer using PGP disk password protect the machine itself. After all, my son likes to watch his cartoons on the computer and at the age of 3, type a password of 8 characters with high, low, numbers and signs of punctuation is a bit out of reach for the moment.

So now I have bore you with all rebuttles to questions like "Why don't you do this rather", Let's get to the meat.

Is anyway in Windows XP Media Center edition that when I connect to a shared directory on the server using Windows file sharing (SMB/CIFS), I can choose to save the password?

Dialog box, I have in mind is the one marked 'Connect to' that appears to request a username and password when a UNC network path is entered directly in the Explorer address line or the path is traversed through "My Network Places" and permissions are insufficient for with the users currently logged in user name and password combination.

This feature exists on XP Pro, but not on the House and I was under the impression that Media Center was closer to Pro home. If I can't find a solution to this, so I have to install XP Pro on the machine and not the Media Center extensions and this will make me really sad :(

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Well, I put t know how you want to watch the video files with the Windows XP Media Center from the file server, because I don t know if the WMC supports this feature.

  • SSD Solid State drives: The upgrade of the Ultraportable X 40 and X 41

    Need some advice!

I think the upgrade of my ultraportable Thinkpad X 40 of very slow 1.8 "HDD with one module SSD (a DRAM unit, not a flash). These modules are available but expensive and rare.

    There are obvious problems.

Windows is optimized for disk SSD hard & uses a lot of disk streaming - possibly reducing the performance gains expected.

Some technical documents I've seen indicates (at least on Linux) that a writing activity can be deferred from RAM instead, and there are also a few options on where the constantly updated files could be moved. Maybe Windows can be twisted (a little) but I'm not getting my hopes upward.

Assuming that I could not even find a loan to do the upgrade - repair-depot

1: DRAM SSDS do not need constant battery? If so - how does X 300 new Thinkpad not to lose your data when you pull out main battery - a local battery on the SSD unit maybe?

2: If the SSD consumes power even in stop - the current-draw would be low enough to be met by the local SSDS without pulling on the main battery?

3: some SSD upgrades fail to deliver the expected - performance gains because drivers cannot be updated level - and ur stuck with the original e/s speed without worrying.

Since the 40 X 1.8 "HARD drive runs very slow though - could I stand a good chance of significant performance gains?

4: has anyone found to the main battery life drop - instead of improve it-due to an SSD upgrade?

    5: Here's a link treated showing the whole 40 X SSD upgrade procedure in the life-color www.think4d.de/nbb/x41_ssd.htm

SSD requires no battery power to keep these data.   they work exactly like the removable flash high-speed media.

SLC drives are faster than MLC drives.   If you can afford it, download a SLC drive.

battery life will be better, but marginally.   I have an SSD in my X61s and she has added about 20 ~ 30 minutes more travel time when you use a battery 8 cells.

  • Why the connection to a local database becomes lost when the network is disconnected?

I use TestStand 3.1. I have a configuration database on the local drive and I use the option "Log on the Fly.

The test takes 48 hours and I want to assure you that it will not stop if the network connection is lost.

If I unplug the network before starting the test, fine. I can plug the network again while the test runs without problem.

But if the network is connected and I start the test and then disconnect the network of recording on the fly will give an error.

I narrowed down it to "New USE for database Logging" step in the SequentialModel.seq (process model). If this step is performed with the network connection then the rest of the test needs a network connection.

  • XW6400: SSD and HDD bluescreen

My old HARD drive player has accident and I bought an SSD for my workstation, ADATA SX900 SATA III.  I put SSDS with and drive HARD Seagate Barracuda 1 TB SATA 7200 RPM, and at first glance, everything was ok, after 2 days, my pc has slowly gel and once has this blue screen appears. Now, I only use SSDS on workstation.

How can I put those together to work properly?

If your older HARD drive was the boot drive and crashed it somehow, you can trust data from the operating system that is located on this drive. As such, you must reinstall the operating system to ensure that all the data on your new SSD is indeed correct.

All your other personal data should be recovered from a backup, or if you have only these data at the disk 'crashed', it must be checked in some way to ensure that it is also OK.

However, you have not been clear what you mean by "I put SSDS with and HDD ' must clarify what you actually did or what you ment by this statement.

Some older HP worksataions play well with some Sata III drives. You can read about these issues here and here.

However, it is not clear whether the problem you have is related to the Sata II / Sata III issues such as discussed in the references above or related to the fact you can have cloned the old HDD to the SSD and then change the type Sata from AHCI ATA or AHCI + RAID in BIOS (which will result in blue screen unless the correct drivers are already installed).

If I were you, I remove the old hard drives from your system and insert the new drive SSD (wiped using BDAN). Then, I'd install clean operating system using HP system recovery disks or preferably a Microsoft Windows 7 installation disc. All of this assumes that your XW6400 can handle first indeed the SSD SATA III

    Good luck...

  • Add a hard drive (SSD) and move windows with partition

    Hi all

I'm running Windows 7 on a new PC, I built.  Current record
    Intel i7 3.5 GHz
    16 GB OF RAM
    HDD WD 1 TB
I added a 256 GB SSD and another 1 TB HARD drive to the system (they will be here Wednesday), and I'm looking for more articles on how to move the operating system for the SSD.  It seems that most people replace their HDD rather than add to their systems, so I'm not the answers I want exactly.
I want to move the operating system for the SSD (and partition such that I can also install Ubuntu 12.10 on it, which was also a giant headache for me today... but this isn't the venue...)  while keeping many programs (games, mainly) and storage on the HARD drive.  I saw some instructables on how use a 3rd party backup/restore to move everything...  My question is, what is lost by simply reinstalling windows for the new SSD and then uninstall the old HD?  Is this all simply impossible to install two instances of windows on a single computer bootable?  Or that would result in all my programs does not not on the new installation?
Otherwise, the windows7 install disc will allow me to reinstall it on the new drive as a replacement/installation action?  I was under the impression that everything would be kept and still accessible in old "windows" folder after such facilities.
    Thank you.

    Hi spectrum,

    Thanks for the reply.

As suggested above, to create a Windows 7 image and save the image on the external drive (do not save in the new hard drive). Once you install windows 7 on new hard drive, you can restore the windows image 7.

  • move VMs from the local shared storage

We are running ESXi 4.1 with local storage that we did experiments with VMware. Close have 2 new purchased hosts with a SAN for the shared storage, hopefully, they will arrive at the end of January. I need to build a couple of virtual machines to take care of a few issues until our new VM environment is set up. If I create a new virtual machine on my host with local storage and that you want to move to new hosts and the shared storage the arrival of our new purchase, I guess I can do it with vMotion? Other methods too? Also, is there anything I need to worry as move us VMS local shared storage storage and a new host of ramifications?

Thanks for helping a newbie, Tom

You will need Enterprise or Enterprise Plus access to Storage vMotion. vMotion moves a virtual machine from one host to the host running but no storage.
