RESEARCH ASSISTANT intermittently returns lowercase FILE names

When I use the wizard looks very intermittently, FILE names are all returned in LOWERCASE.  The problem with this is that if I open a file from there and then save it.  The file name is converted into tiny all.  I use Windows XP Professional and DID install Windows Search.  So, to access the Research Assistant, I have to click on the link at the bottom left of the Windows search page.
I've scoured the Internet, but no reference to anyone else having this problem.

Hello TrudyWalter,

First thing to try would be to rebuild your search index. You can do this:

·         Click Start

·         Click on Control Panel

·         Open Indexing Options

·         Click on Advanced

·         Click rebuild

·         Click OK

·         Click on close

You will see a magnifying glass in the task bar that will let you know when it has finished indexing.

If, after the index rebuild you still has the problem, you can try the Windows Search uninstall and then re-install. This can be done:

·         Click Start

·         Click run

·         Type appwiz.cpl

·         Click OK

·         Click change or remove programs

·         Click the Show updates box

·         Click the Windows Search 4.0

·         Click Remove

To reinstall, follow this link to download Windows Search 4.0:

http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/products/winfamily/desktopsearch/choose/windowssearch4.mspx?tab=install%20It

Hope that helps, I look forward to hearing from you.

    In Windows XP, I could select a group of images and print a Board-contact via the Photo Printing Wizard.  File names were centered under the picture and WRAPPED when the name of the file has been long.

    In Windows Vista, it works, EXCEPT that file names are centered and TRUNCATED.  This isn't the desired behavior.  Y at - there a fix, or workaround or alternative solution?  (In addition to copying the files back to a XP machine?)

    Hello BarbaraC,

    Try the following link to see if it will display full of names of files without truncating them.  I don't think that the result you're looking for in Vista is possible.  Everything I read indicates that Microsoft truncates file names to get under the tile.

  • Return file names numerically

    Hi all

    I have a lot of files that I need to extract the data from stitching together, I have an idea how I can do this, but the 'List Folder.vi' I intend to use returns the names of files in alphabetical order to give me an array of file names in the following format:

    1 - xxxx, 10 - xxx, xxx-100, 2-xxxx, 20 - xxx and so on.

    I can't quite get my head around how I can re - sort the table so that irrelevent in the number of files in the folder, I always get the table in numerical order.

    Any help?

  • Research Assistant is not in the .java (a text file) files.

    With the help of "Research Assistant", I am unable to search and find words in documents with the extension: 'java' even when I choose 'all files and folders ".

    What should I do to make a search in the .java files?

    I noticed that the 'File Type' dropdown does not include the extension .java or Java file listed. In my 'Folder Options/File Types', I 'JAVA' in Extensions, and 'Java file' in column 'of file types. I also have WordPad listed as default application for 'open with '.

    Thanks for any help.

  • 1 intermittent start problem & 2 IE8 save as in the file name.

    I had problems with HP Pavillion that running Win XP 32 bit Media cntr. Ed. 2005 SP3 via corrupt C: drive & possibly / likely some files of the operating system. I've never had a backup of the operating system & when I needed it to drive or some files were corrupted eventually and I find that it's too late to get a replacement for my installation copy (thanks HP, no support for 6 year old computer!?) Idiots!), so I am facing these problems of weird litle sometimes OK to start, sometimes begin with some errors and inevitable auto restart. major problem seems to be the MsMpEng.exe file (cannot read the memory) or corrupted file I think because I have replaced the drive & brought the old image on the drive of naw (probably with the errors built in) I have looked for ways to replace the file, can't find any info. 70% of the time it starts ok, others 30 is a pain. More recently, I have also saved Bing horizons for some time and use IE v8.0.6 (updated), now when I "save under" Save as file name box has "hprichbg" in there instead of the actual name of the image, it is an image that I save with IE8 another photo & video & process progs are not affected, so I think it's a problem IE or HP software (IE (: something turned evil in a .dll file or so) I appreciate the expertise of everyone on these forums. Thanks, Ronnie...

    It's funny - I do not have Windows Defender installed as the Microsoft support engineer suggested (and I never install) but I do not have the MsMpEng.exe running all the time.  How can this be?  I guess it could be, but I do not wish to install Windows Defender to find out.

    MsMpEng.exe is part of Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE).

    If it seems that it is somehow afflicted, I would just uninstall the whole shebang (MSE), reboot without it and see the side of things..., fix any other matter at that time and when things are cleaned and running smoothly, reinstall MSE.  Yo udon can't want to get in the way of your other efforts if she is distressed.

    What are these 'some mistakes' you get sometimes?  Don't forget, we are unable to see your screen.

    Because the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know very litte on your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

    Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

    Provide information on your system, the better you can:

    Your system's disks IDE or SATA drives?

    Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

    The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

    You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

    Do you see that you think not you should see and when you see it?

    What do not you think that you should see?

    Now make some clarifications:

    Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msinfo32

    Click OK, and when the system info summary appears, click on edit, select all (Ctrl-A), copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here.

    For information about video drivers, expand components, click view, click on edit, select all, copy and then paste the information here.

    There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and anything that turns information private for you, simply delete the pasted information.

    This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.

  • Why file names in capitals and lowercase?

    Hello

    I'm running win7 64 home premium with ie10.

    Since I discovered the resource manager, it really took the pleasure of using my computer.  I see things that I don't understand and they are driving me crazy. I hope someone out there can answer my questions and put back the joy in computer science.

    1. How is it that I see names of files and their paths in capital letters and others in lower case? What does that mean?

    2 under CPU, the handle associated with, section Type is 'mutant '.  What does that mean?

    Piece of cake, right?

    Thanking you in advance,

    Noellie

    1. Why is this worry? Windows is case-insensitive, so that the file names go.

    2. mutant is an internal Microsoft end of a Mutex. It is an abbreviation of mutually exclusive. In a multitasking system, it is used to access a resource paper. If a task has a mutex, other tasks which seek to acquire the mutex must wait until it is released.

  • Incompatibility of mushup. On timeline files are not the correct file names. Assistance requested...

    I don't know how it happened, but I have a strange situation where a video published on the timeline shows his name as... 7894.avi but it's actually 7892.avi if you right click and select 'Properties' or look in Windows Explorer.

    The film is mjpeg, 1280 x 720 30 p. The problem is that I am using (or trying to use) an EDL exported from this chronology to import the corresponding change in the other channel of a stereo pair. I used this method in the past on projects 3D in PPro CS4 on the same machine and OS (win7) without any problem.

    Clip numbering is tweaked throughout the entire timeline and therefore any EDL is frame for chassis length, but with the wrong film.

    This rings a Bell for anyone? Any ideas on how to force a change in file name?

    TIA,

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    (< *) # > <
    Any ideas on how to force a change in file name?
    Select the item in the project Panel, right-click and select "replace the film...". »
    You will then have a box that gives you the ability to "Rename the video file name".
    This method will also rename the items already in your editing.
  • Maximum file name length class in jde/preverify.exe?
    I have a little problem. Or, actually, it's a problem of long.
    I use a Web service, so I have no influence on the file names.
    I am in no way responsible for things that are returned by the Web service (or I would probably have turned myself already).
    The generated classes have many internal classes that are nested in eachother.
    the names of the two generated classes class files appear to be too long, here is the error message from one of them:
    Error loading class com.sap.xi.appl.global2.TradeReceivablesPayablesAccountERPSplitItemGroupByCustomerIDResponseMessage_sync$TradeReceivablesPayablesAccount$TradeReceivablesPayablesRegisterItem$TradeReceivablesPayablesRegisterItemSplitItem
    Error! : error: auditor failed: C:\Programme\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.2.1\bin\preverify.exe d C:\DOKUME~1\sha\LOKALE~1\Te...
    other versions of jde (4.3, 4.5, 4.6) had the same error.
    any way around this?
    There is a maximum size for the file name + path in Windows, which you can be struck.  I tried to create a sample with this and Windows wouldn't let me do anything with the file, which gives an error "the file name or extension is too long."
    Move the project closer to the root solved the problem for me and allowed me to build the application.
  • File names image missing from the underside of the Photo Image
    I recently spoke with someone from Apple support and they confirmed that displaying the name of the file Image is a present feature in iPhoto, but was lost in the update photograph.  Their suggestion was to send feedback to Apple.  He said that it is the most effective way to get results and more of us than that best the chance we have to see this feature in a future update of photography.  It was my return to Apple:
    "Thank you for the update photograph... I appreciate some of the improved features that have been made for him. However, I would like to note that the absence of the names of files that appears under the image is cruelly.  I find this information very useful as I get pictures from other sources and helps determine the ownership of the photos.  Now, I'm a little lost without her.
    While the screen may look sharper and more user friendly for some, it would be good to know that this feature could be made available View (display Image File Name) option.
    Could I do that as a suggestion for your next release? »
    If you are also missing this feature, I encourage you to submit your comments to http://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html
    iPhoto has used the names of files as a default title to be displayed as thumbnails, if no title has been assigned. Photo for Mac displays only the titles under the thumbnails, if a title had been awarded. He makes a distinction between a title assigned user and a file name.
    As a workaround: in the tip section the user to change the title of a photo file name - have a look, we have posted a few Scripts from Apple:
    Photos will show the title under the thumbnails if you select the titles in the menu: view > metadata.
    An alternative workaround: you get pictures of the power.  It allows you to browse your photo library with fields of metadata under the thumbnails - keywords, titles, names of files. You can customize what you want to see in the title or subtitle.
    But I support the request for better support of metadata in the pictures.  The feedback form is here: Feedback - Photos - Apple
  • 5.6.1 pages how to insert a file name
    In previous versions of Pages I could insert the file name or the full path of a document in the foot. I create multiple documents for our society. This has been invaluable when changes had to be made to a document or form. I can't find this option in Pages 5.6.1. Where at - it go? How can I insert a file name?
    Pages v5 (all versions) has been a complete rewrite - no no from the Pages ' 09. Insert menu: file name was never added to the application. There is no provision in the application of v5 Pages to insert the entire path either.
    If you click on the document name in the title bar, a Panel opens with the file name have been screened, and paste that in your footer. He was never a capacity in Pages ' 09 to insert a path of the document.
    The following AppleScript will display a POSIX path for the currently open document in Pages. It will support installation of Pages three different scenarios:
    1. V5 installed only with the open document pages
    2. Pages ' 09 installed only with the open document
    3. V5 pages and Pages ' 09 installed and running with open document
    Launch the Script Editor (Launchpad: others: Script Editor). Copy and paste the AppleScript in Script Editor. All text will be purple (normal). Click on the hammer icon to compile. Now the text is mixed of colors (good). Two successive stops:
    1. File menu: Save... File name: Pages_path. When you select the text in the File Format: selector, applescript is added file name. No other check boxes, and then save in your Documents folder. It is the only source.
    2. File menu: Option key: Save under... Pages_path. Since the File Format: selector, select Application. A .app extension will be added file name. Click on the box to hide the Extension. Save to your desktop. This is the clickable application.
    3. When you want the complete path of the open document, you click on the Pages_path icon on your desktop and a dialog box is displayed. Select, copy and paste this path into your Pages document.
