Reset password on behalf of "vmware" Orchestrator Configuration for a device

Today I've updated our Orchestrator device to the latest version to correct the error of the bash shell.  Before I did I connected to the device using accounts to the root and vmware (root used for vmware and web site of the device used to connect to the web site configuration) - both worked so I don't know I got the correct password before the update.

After the update and restart, root always works with the initial password I had set, but vmware account no longer works.  I tried the original on the box password (vmware/vmware) and the password that I know worked before the upgrade - no work.  I found a lot of posts, how to reset the password when running with a host Windows Orchestrator - but not the device.  Does anyone know how to reset it when you use it?

Also - is this a known issue?  Updated unit horks the configuration password?

Thank you

  • Invalid configuration for the device 3

    Hi all

    I have set up a lab nested with three hosts esxi and two warehouses of data connected with the Microsoft iscsi target server. I know nested vm is not supported, but I'm trying to implement this workshop because I support a real VMware environment and I wish I could test some things before I break anything, so it's important. I get this error when you try to create a virtual machine "invalid configuration for the device 3.  Someone knows how can I know where is the problem?

    Thank you

    I think I can find the answer, it seems that it could be a windows problem causing data corruption. Somehow I created a VM but get all kinds of error trying to create an another VM.  Iscsi targets set up using windows server 2012 and it seems that there is a fix from Microsoft below which deals with corruption LUNs in windows 2012.  I have not yet tested, but this seems to be the right direction. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2908783

  • Reset password on behalf of vpxuser

    Hello

    I don't know the password for the vpxuser account and want to reset. Is it possible to do it while connected to the ESX Server with the Root account?

    Thanks in adance.

    It is, but then Virtual Center will stop communicating with your ESX Server - because virtual center uses this account to connect with your ESX Server - I would remove your ESX Server to reset train your virtual environment Center and re add it.

  • VMware orchestrator configuration problem: LDAP

    Hello guys,.

    I connect our HOV to our AD domain and I get the following errors:

    When you use the integrated AD cases, you use CN = Users, not OU = users, given that Microsoft has used a different object than the organization unit type.

  • Invalid configuration for the device '0'

    Since the upgrade to view 5.3 I get these errors and it's starting to drive me batty.  I have a fairly simple environment (1 security server, 1 connection to the server, standalone composer, standard vSwitches).

    Error messages:

    2014-04-07_10-04-32.jpg

    Here is what I did to solve problems:

    • I had a problem with having two composers in the environment at the same time (mainly because my coinstalled uninstalling did not actually uninstall as it was supposed to), but that seems now fixed.
    • Initially, I thought it was a problem with my model/snapshot, so I created a clone of my shot and used to create a new pool, still errors.
    • I created a new virtual machine Windows 8.1 and allows to create a new pool, yet of errors.
    • I deleted all pools and created new ones with my current Windows 7 and new VM Windows 8.1, still errors.
    • I tried a number of patches that I found via Google, but they do not seem to match exactly if the only one that I really was remove and add a new vNIC, yet of errors

    Which is really weird, is that desktop computers everything works as expected, I have just these annoying messages fills my vCenter logs so I would get cleaned up.  Has anyone seen cela or have any suggestions on what I can try?

  • I forgot the password of the Orchestrator Configurator

    Is it possible to reset the current password of the Orchestrator Configurator? I've changed the original password ("vmware") he has been proposed in the Guide of the Insttallation, but forgot it.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Martell,

    To reset the password to vmware, open the C:\ProgramFiles\VMware\Orchestrator\configuration\jetty\etc\password.properties file and save it with this content:

    VMware = 92963abd36c896b93a36b8e296ff3387

    Then, restart the Server Configuration vCO and connect with vmware/vmware.

  • Reset password administrator of vCO

    Use of vCO deployed unit of the vCO_VA - 4.2.0.1 - 507352_OVF10.ovf - hard to explain what happened. I had left the customer orchestrator for a few weeks and when I returned to this there was a message saying that I was disconnected. I tried to log in again and told me name of user and password were not valid. I have connected on configuration orchestrator and finds the network, LDAP, database, server certificate, license, start Options & Plug-ins - in red. When I tried to configure the LDAP category, the ability to set OpenLDAP did not exist. I assumed it was my problem because the announcement was not used before. I followed the instructions to activate the experimental support for OpenLDAP, I could then select OpenLDAP, but could not do the config to stick. Somehow trying to work with the Configurator, the password has changed. All I can do is currently connect to the console.

    Is there a way to reset the config/admin password?

    I want the workflow and apply to a new installation, if the config/admin password cannot be reset. Is there a way to dump the database from the console?

    Looks like you can not back in the web interface of Configuration vCO... It has nothing to do with LDAP, AD, OpenLDAP, etc... you're supposed to open a session with the user account is 'vmware' - by default, the password was 'vmware', but you probably invited to change at first use or maybe you changed and have forgotten what you changed it to. If you are unable to log in with the account "vmware" (only possible for the account), then maybe you need to reset the password to "vmware". If this is the case, please see this post: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1464555#1464555

    I'm unable to log in with the administrator password, and it may have been changed somehow fear. When I go to resets-> 'Reset Factory Settings', he claims to have restored the factory settings but does not reset the printer admin password or hostname.  When I print the configuration after that, he always says "Admin Password - specified."

    How can I actually perform a cold reset such that the admin password is reset?

    Reset the NVRAM worked - the key is that it does not say in the manual that the NVRAM reset also resets the password for the device. In my hands, resetting the NVRAM finished as I hoped 'Reset defaults' would be and did not reset the serial number.

    No one really knows what information is in the backup file. In general, are stored passwords that do not need to be transferred elsewhere encrypted and cannot be decrypted. Most likely, you need to reset your router to the factory settings. But you can try asking your question in the support community Cisco Small Business for routers. The RV082 is now part of Cisco Small Business and there is few people Cisco who can check with the developers...

  • AD Plugin for VMWare Orchestrator

    Hi all

    Long time Trawler, first time poster.

    I'm working on self-service provisioning workflows for my business. I try to use the AD Plugin to allow me to remove a computer AD account.

    I downloaded the latest Version of the Plugin, but I can't work. Here are a few notes:

    The account that I have configured for the plugin to use has the permissions to add/remove Machines in the domain. I tested by connecting computers and AD users and by removing certain computer accounts manually.

    Inside Orchestrator: I can navigate the tree very well, but when I try to use the built in Workflow selector window "To destroy a computer" appears empty.

    I tried duplicating the workflow, and it change so that it displays the AD tree, and then he shows me all the machines, but still, the workflow does not: "Cannot Find Function Destroy in objectNotFound.

    I tried a few script with API's AD and get errors that two functions are found or Null Pointer Exceptions.

    I am at a loss: has account permissions: he can see the computers in the tree but not of mode switch, but can't select them.

    Yet in AD users and computers the same account will happily remove machines.

    I did have version 1.2 of the plugin and now have 1.3, but nothing has changed.

    Any help would be great guys.

    Kind regards

    Ash.

    I found a solution. The problem is extra information was captured by the output of the command of the orchestrators. He was capture the result of the query, but included a line break/CR (even when the piping directly in DSRM).

    Solution is to execute commands to separate 2: execute dsquery and then perform a regex to capture only the DN. Then run with this DN DSRM. works very well and I only need to provide the computer name and the credentials for the removal of the means.

    Thanks lot to qc4vmware for assistance.

    Here's the updated code:

    Var back = false;

    Query AD for DN of computer

    var commandQuery = ' computer dsquery.exe - name "computer"u"+ username +"-p"password".

    Run the Query command

    var cmd = new Command (commandQuery);

    cmd. Execute (true);

    var output = cmd.output

    var commandDelete = "dsrm" + DNs [0] + '-noprompt ' + 'u' + username + '-p' + password

  • A general error occurred: could not connect with the password of administrator of vim cannot configure VIM account on the host

    Community salvation.

    Story: I was called to look at the configuration of vSphere for a customer. When I started looking, I noticed several problems in the environment of the person who has put in place initially. I've been noting but have done nothing to fix these up to the...

    A question that I've seen is that the server vSphere does not apper communicate properly on ESX 3.5 servers. The error message is similar to a post on this forum ( http://communities.vmware.com/message/1450789?tstart=0) however the same method of solution did not work.

    Currently I have two ESX hosts connected to a console vSphere. The Console displays the disconnected hosts and the error points to the problems with the VPXUSER account. I found

    I searched and found several articles with similar questions, so I chose a course of action

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1007132

    http://communities.VMware.com/message/1168241

    As a note - vSphere client connections toESX welcomes also directly works very well - don't show no problems and everything seems fine.

    So - my first actions were to disconnect and reconnect one of the hosts.  The operation failed with the error "a general error has occurred: unable to connect with the password of administrator of vim cannot configure VIM account on the host. After that, I followed the elimination of the VPXUSER process, restarted the agents and you reconnect the server for vSphere - to the same result. I then deleted the ESX host, removed the VPXUSER, restarted the agents and added that the host ESX back once again - but no change - the same exact error message. I don't see the VPXUSER ID are re-created by this process - so I guess that ESX and vSphere should know the ID and the password.

    Nothing shows up in the var for this - but one of the articles above explains that as a result of the use of the PAM modules.

    Just for fun, I also tried using the ROOT password and reallowing ROOT to connect via SSH - but I got the same failures. I also tried lifting the VPXUSER ID privleges but - same questions.

    If - goes here - any ideas? I can give other details or screen caputres
