  • Apparently, I got an automatic update of Windows XP. All of a sudden my computer does not connect to my HP Laserjet 1000 printer.

All of a sudden my computer does not connect to my HP Laserjet 1000 printer. These work very well together for several years.

Now all of a sudden I get a message that the computer cable is not connected.  I tried to charge the printer program.

I unplugged and reconnect the cable to the computer, etc.. The system does not work.

I learn by two other people, who have automatic updates of Windows, they had the same problem. We have a Kodak

printer and the other has a Lexmark printer. This makes me think that the problem is in the updates of Windows.

So, what should I do to fix this? I'm NOT a computer person and I'm confused.

    Hello

You are able to install other programs?

Method 1: See the following article:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/document?DocName=c02073861&LC=en&cc=us&product=3795406

Method 2: view the following steps and see if that helps.

    (a) disconnect the printer

    (b) uninstall the software and drivers on the computer

    (c) plug the printer back

    (d) allow the Hardware Wizard search for drivers

    e) if it does not, it asks you to install the source for the drivers, the installation driver CD and install the drivers and see if that helps.

  • HP 1020 laser jet: the hp laserjet 1020 printer is compatible with windows 10

I deleted the printer & he reloaded several times, updated computer and always gives me error code "printer could not print Microsoft Word (document name).

    Bradhartsoe

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

To answer your question, YES, it is compatible with Win10 - but you must use the HP software and drivers, not the one that is provided by Microsoft.

Here are the drivers and the software for your printer page: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-LaserJet-1020-Printer-series/439423/model/3329726

You must download and install full feature software and drivers for the printer.

Remove all the drivers and software that Microsoft install for the printer.

Then unplug the printer and install the software.

Do reconnect the printer until the installation program invited to do so.

Once the installation is complete, restart.

You should then be able to use your printer in Win10.

    Good luck

  • HP LaserJet 1020 printer: Download the drivers for the HP LaserJet 1020 printer

I would use my HP LaserJet printer, who worked previously with Windows 98SE with my HP/Compaq laptop which runs on Windows 8.1 (x 64). My HP/Compaq laptop is not connected to the Internet. However, my laptop HP with Windows 7 (x 64) is connected to the Internet. Is it possible for me to download the drivers for Windows 8.1 desktop my HP laptop and move the pilots in a DVD which I can install them in the HP/Compaq? This procedure is possible or if it is not recommended. Thank you very much for your suggestions. Robert

    Hey @Robert61,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand you are trying to download the drivers for your Laserjet 1020 printer on a single computer, burn the drivers to a DVD player and install it on another computer. It should work without any problems.

Please let me know if it solves your problem. If so, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • Windows 7 think no driver USB there is for the HP LaserJet 1200 printer

When I plug my HP LaserJet 1200 printer in my Windows 7 laptop via a USB cable, the correct driver should install automatically, but it does not work.  The message error is "HP LaserJet 1200 printer doesn't have a driver', which is not true.

This driver used to work properly on Windows 7.  It is suspected that HP could inadvertently, recently broken the driver.  Do you have someone at HP, or at Microsoft, typo or mistranscribe the string 'HP LaserJet 1200' in a version of the driver, or in a catalog that refers to a newer version of the driver?

To be clear: I is not a smart solution that puts my system in a strange state, I do not understand, or want to try different things that might work, but (as far as I know) could corrupt vaguely a few hidden files or reference system.  My system is now in a clean and orderly condition.  I wish him stay that way.

I'm looking for the standard driver auto installation correctly according to the standard method, as it should.

Since the first meeting of the problem, I erased from my hard drive and reinstalled fresh (not just recovered, rescued or updated, but wiped and freshly reinstalled) my operating system to Windows 7.  It made no difference.  Therefore, the problem seems not to be a problem with my installation.  It seems rather to be a problem with the driver, a catalog that refers to the driver or something of the sort.

We realize that the HP LaserJet 1200 is a pretty old printer, for which we could expect little support.  Despite this, would be the person at Microsoft, who knows printer drivers, check that the "HP LaserJet 1200" string not inadvertently has been misspelled or mistranscribed in a recent version of the driver, or in a catalog that made reference to a recent version of the driver?  As I said, this driver used to work.

If the driver is listed, then you don't have to go through the company if in the update catalog. That's the good news.  The bad news is that I do not understand why it has not installed.

Go to devices and printers.  If there is anything listed in the category 'printers and faxes', select it.  Once you select an item in this category, you will see a 'Print server properties' button at the top of the printers and devices window.  Click on this button.

If there is nothing in the category 'Printers and faxes', you will not be able to get the print server properties button, so instead, open a command prompt window (click on the start ORB, type cmd.exe and press enter), type the following in the black command prompt window and press ENTER:

    printui/s/T2

Whatever it is, you will end up the "Print server properties" window, like this:

I guess that you will NOT see a list for the Laserjet 1200.  Before you add it, however, click the "Ports" tab  You have a Port which is presented as "DOT4_001" (the number may be different at the end)?

Unplug the printer if it is connected.

Back to the tab drivers, click "Add" and you can start the Add Printer Driver Wizard, which is very similar to add an assistant of the printer that you saw earlier.

Click on 'Next' and check the box next to your system - x 64 for 64-bit and x 86 for 32-bit.

Click "Next", select "HP" and "Laserjet 1200 Series PCL 5" and click "Next"

Click 'Finish' to close the wizard

You must return to the Ports of the print server properties tab and now the driver for the "Laserjet 1200 Series PCL 5" should be included in the list

Close the print server properties window

    Restart the computer

    Connect the printer.

    It installs correctly now?

The answer seems very obvious. You have two choices:

1 replace your printer with one that is compatible with Windows 7.

    2. Replace with a version of Windows that is compatible with Windows 7
    your printer.

Here is my standard message on this topic:

Whenever you switch to a new version of Windows, you must install
drivers for printers, scanners, video cards, etc., that have been
written for this new version of Windows.  And also note that you need
different determinants for a 32-bit version of Windows and a 64-bit
    Version.

It is the manufacturer of the hardware to write and
available to download these drivers. Especially if your hardware is
older, it is quite possible that the manufacturer has decided that it is not
a value of his time and effort to develop drivers for the hardware that it is
    selling more.
Check with the manufacturer or on their web site to see if a pilot
There are. If not, you're out of luck.

In the future, before making such an upgrade, make sure you have
done the appropriate research to find out what drivers do not exist,
and so what equipment you need to replace if you upgrade.

    Hello

I've recently updated form Windows XP to WINDOWS 7, then to Windows Pro 10. I have HP lasejet 1300 printer. It worked fine with WINDOWS XP. I had the problem of printing when I got Windos 7, but it was resolved by installing with force provided for XP rather than WIndows 7 driver.

Now, after upgrading to WINDOWS 10, I am unable to print, even if windows has automatically identified and installed a HP Laserjet 1300 PCL 6 printer.

I tried to update the driver to download from the HP site. But without success in printing.

When I send the command to print to this printer, I get the Message error in the list of the printer and document remain with the error. No data seems to be sent to the printer. I used troubelshot option already.

    Help, please.

Ok. Problem is solved in my case. I have chnaged the printer driver to auto select HP Laserjet 1300 PCL 6 for HP Laserjet 1300 PCL 5

    Now with printing.
