• Resolution reduced to DNG

  As a user of Photoshop CS (v.8.0) and a Nikon D50 camera, I was just introduced to the joys of the Adobe's DNG Converter. ACR 2.4 turns out to be the latest version of ACR to work with the CS and the first to accept the raw images of the D50 (phew!). So now I can open my Camera Raw image and make initial corrections useful exposure, white balance, etc. But I discovered that if I convert a Raw image (in .nef format) whose resolution is 300 x 300 pixels per inch to DNG and open it in PS, its resolution drops to 240 x 240 ppi. And this is independent of if I put "Compressed" DNG Converter preferences or not. Why is this? And can do something to preserve the original resolution (other than the upgrade in CS4, which I can't afford)?

  ADDENDUM:

  As long as you do NOT resample the image, you can change the ppi for all what you want, the ppi will not affect the pixel dimensions (so many inches in width by so many inches high).  What will change, of course, is to the PRINT SIZE.

  More ppi, plus size print, as long as you do not resample.

• All the exported photos to Photoshop Fix get their reduced resolution

  Hi all

  All pictures exported from Photoshop Fix get their resolution reduced to 2048 x 1152 (the original was 4240 x 2384). I tried to use photos directly from the cloud (without lightroom), but it's the same question. Soon, I want to export to Photoshop (office) or save to cloud the library, the resolution is reduced. Any tips?

• Images with lower screen resolutions on Tecra M5 unclear

  We have a few M5s with graphics card Intel that works perfectly with the screen resolution of 1024 * 768 usual.
  Now we buy some new ones equipped with nVidia Quadro M5s, and they seem to have a native resolution of 1400 * 1050.

  If I try to measure the resolution 1024 * 768 or 1280 * 1024, the images are badly blurred. But I think that the icons to 1400 * 1050 on a 14 "screen are really too small for the average users.

  Tecra M5 comes with three different views. If you buy one with a higher resolution display, resolution reduced with photo dimmish results.

  Sorry but there is nothing to do. For example, you can connect external monitor with lower resolution.

• 400-297hk Pavilion: WiDi or Miracast on a 400-297hk Pavilion

  I have a 400-297hk flag I bought a few months, with the understanding that he was "ready for WiDi. But now I just try to set up the WiDi I can't get the system to recognize that he is capable of it. I am running Windows 8.1.

  This Pavilion model comes with a nVidia GT635 graphics card and a Broadcom BCM943228 wireless adapter. These two devices appear to be WiDi capable adapters. However, I don't see the option 'Add a Wireless Display' when I go to devices/project.

  I am trying to connect to a screen with an Actiontec ScreenBeam Mini2 adapter.

  I can add it as a device manually - it seems to speak to my PC, generates an access code and then I can enter this code. The device appears on the list of system devices. He said that "Magic is about to happen" on my screen, but it fails.

  The software Intel WiDi tells me that I am using an unsupported of Intel Graphics device.

  Can someone confirm definitively that I should be able to get this working with my ActionTec adapter Pavilion? And if so, give me directions to the drivers/software or something to get it working?

  I also note in passing that a 400-297hk motherboard has an integrated Intel Graphics adapter that is disabled somehow, and ports covered in panels-caches. I'm not a particularly heavy graphic user, then I'd be happy to remove the nVidia card and activate the graphic card Intel so that let me operate WiDi.

  So I finally around trying this, and in case someone else has the same question in the future, here's what you need to know:

  Yes, if you just remove the nVidia card and remove the panels "do not remove" VGS and DVI jacks on the motherboard then the system starts smoothly using the integrated Intel 4600HD graphics card.

  As far as I know, what you lose from this is a HDMI video output, which isn't a problem for me.

  However, WiDi still does not work, and the tool Intel WiDi reports despite the fact that hardware incompatibility chart and wifi are clearly on the compatibility list. The problem is that HP has a custom for the Intel graphics driver. Attempt to use any automatic update tool to get the latest drivers Intel fails, saying that I have the latest version of the driver for my hardware. Even if you download the latest Intel driver and try to do a manual driver update fails, I have the latest version.

  What you have to do is to uninstall the first HP Intel standard display driver manually. That can get you to base support of Microsoft display with resolution reduced etc. You can then do a manual installation of the latest Intel generic drivers. And once you do that everything seems fine - I had no problems, and the possibility of adding a wireless display is present in the device settings screen. I am writing this response when using WiDI via an Actiontec Screenbeam Mini2 ability to my Sony Bravia TV (a bit old).

  I wonder why HP would bother to have drivers customized if those generic work fine (as they seem to do), but anyway, that's how you get the ability to display wireless working on a 400-297hk Pavilion. I hope this is useful to someone else!

• Black/white screens in FSX

  A small problem that I hope someone can help with it please...

  What I did:
  Install a third of the aircraft.

  What happened:
  (1) the area on the main screen where the preview plane normally displays is now empty; and
  (2) the main window (cockpit etc.) is also empty.

  It worked perfectly until I added the new aircraft (which I subsequently deleted). Problems began after I had run the Add-ons in FSC and them designated as "of trust" (according to the guidelines of this http://www.fsinsider.com/tips/Pages/TrustandVerify.aspx).

  My system:
  Six weeks old Dell Studio
  Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64 bit
  256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 (realize isn't the best technology, she has already worked well)
  15.6 "720 p WLED (1366 x 768)
  FSX Deluxe (all to date)

  So far I've tried:
  -Switching between modes full screen and windowed mode (this causes the screen just flashes between white and black and the desktop);
  -Setting of the resolution;
  -Reduce the variables available in ATI CCC (anti-aliasing etc.);
  -Updated all my drivers (who were all to date);
  -A clean boot.

  None of these solutions worked.

  I'm quickly running out of ideas and have not been able to find anything else useful online. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  Thank you for posting.  It seems that you installation might be damaged.  I suggest you reinstall the game to fix it.

  I was looking for a video driver for Windows 7 with no luck.  The I need for the computer is a Dell Dimension 4600 with integrated video.  When I tried the Dell Web site, they show only a driver for XP, because I'm assuming that it was the only BONE the 4600 can run without its standard equipment.  The RAM has been improved to 1.75 GB, so 7 will run on it without any problem, but the only screen resolution that works is 640 x 480.  I tried to go into the advanced settings, the list of all the screen modes, but when I select a higher resolution, reduce it, maximize, and close buttons go black and parts of the screen are becoming blurred.  I tried two different monitors, so I'm sure I just need a driver.  I can't find one that fits.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!!!

  Call Dell and ask if the driver you need exist. If they tell you

• Windows Explorer are invisible? (among other problems)

  After update the display driver for my ATI Radeon HD 6450 to the latest beta, I immediately experienced some major glitches, such as my resolution reducing drastically to the point where I could see a small segment of my screen magnified to fill my entire screen and multi-line appearing during the largest part of the screen when I clicked color. These problems went away after a reboot, but new arose instead. The first thing I noticed was that my task bar and google chrome themes had been returned to default and I could not change the taskbar to the theme I had before. In addition, my mouse disappears when it touches the top of the screen. When you open "My computer", the icon appears in the taskbar, but the window does not appear. When I click the icon, I see the animation of the blue bar that should be on the top of the wind window near the top of the screen before disappearing, as if the window opens, but it is invisible. I uninstalled all my AMD drivers and tried again, but nothing had changed. I then install the last non-beta version of the suite software catalyst, which also didn't make any difference. It would be appreciated if someone could give me a solution that doesn't involve reinstalling me my OS, but if it's inevitable, so that will have to do. The invisible windows is my main concern, but a fix for my other problems would be appreciated. Thank you.

  Sorry, it took so long to answer, I've corrected the problem shortly after my second post. It turns out that the cause of my trouble was a program called air, which allows a Tablet android or iPad to be used as a second monitor. I had it installed well before these problems started, but, strangely, when I uninstalled it because I was told that it prevented a certain racing game, my computer was completely back to normal.

  I just started indesign practicing and already came with a problem.

  So I try to create a background with a pattern for my business card. Here, I use a template I created in photoshop, and it is in jpeg format.

  Pathfinder works on vector elements, not raster elements.

  Your photo is essentially in a container called a frame.

  This image obtained from vector elements, of which you can add/delete points with the pen tool and reshape the frame to any shape that you like with the vector tools - even the pencil around a selected picture frame will change the shape of the frame.

  The photo/graphic is in the Interior of the container - and you can select the image by double clicking on the image and the color of the outline changes to Brown (if you are on layer 1 and layer identifier is blue).

  It is not really possible to attach photos in InDesign, because it is a tool of layout - not a photo editing or drawing program, there are some tools in InDesign that allows to manage them on a smaller scale than photoshop or illustrator vector.

  Depending on the type of model - photoshop maybe not the best choice! Photoshop uses mainly the raster elements (there are vector shapes, masks and text - which can be preserved by saving as a Photoshop PDF) - but above all, it is a raster program.

  Raster images are limited by their resolution and physical size and scaling causes the resolution reduce or increase.

  For example a 300 ppi scaled up to 150% would mean that it is now effectively only 200 dpi.

  Scaled down to 50% it would be actually 600 dpi.

  In InDesign, you can see the effective PPI in the window > Info Panel, selecting the image it will give a reading apparent and absolute output.

  In force is the ppi after the scaling.

  Absolute PPI is the original PPI, image is saved to.

• After the issue of the effects of rendering

  Hi, I'm having a problem with After effects CS6, I know that the latest version of the effects of the Afer's CC but I don't like CC and I've never had a problem like this before, I don't know the fact that I don't have CC doesn't make much difference, I do a montage of Call of Duty all clips in .wmv, 59,94 frames per second and 1280 x 720 pixels. I did to halfway through editing without any problems until it's come. When I RAM Preview before the come of problem along it would make on the entire video with music and effects. Then I added the following to change clip and once I had finished with this clip, the full video was 48 seconds (still not finished with this) and when I did a preview ram to see the first 3 clips together, the ram preview only render out at the end of the second clip in 22 seconds and kept on playing only 22 seconds start over. I looked at all that basically, I tried to restart my computer, I also edit > purge > all memory and much more, nothing works. I'm running on a system Windows 7 64 bit with 8 GB of ram, my processor is an Intel Core i5-3330 @ 3 .00GHz. Please try and help me with this, thanks.

  RAM previews using your system's memory and you have only so much of it before run out you. More images, the memory usage more. More high resolution (preview), memory use more. And so on... It looks like you simply preview resolution reduced when it seemed to work and now switched to highest. Cannot defeat the calculation of the computer... Spend your res 50% or even 25% to increase the duration of the preview...

• 1920 x 1080 Fiasco in first Adobe Elements 9

  Hi all, I scoured the forums for an answer, and to this day, no luck. My problem is the following. I have a Full HD camera and here are the properties of the video, I'm trying to make:

  I just finished editing the video file in Adobe first Elements 9 and I'm hung up on the record. I tried to make 5 different ways with awful results. The video is available for download on the web, Youtube actually and I made every sense I see, but video quality playback has horizontal bars which have delays. I have a 64-bit computer, and every type of imaginable media viewer, so I know that it isn't just a slow computer causing weird reading. If it's important, the raw .mp4 file also plays perfectly through all media players with no problems. It is only after I try to replay the saved (and edited version) I get these weird bars.

  I don't want to lose the HD quality but I can not have a 4.5gig as file, the download limit is 2 gig.

  Is there a way anyone has found to 1920 x 1080 with the above parameters for easy loading, without sacrificing the Full HD quality?

  As I said, do not try to feed the intelaced YouTube stuff.

  HD interlacing is for Blue Ray and regular TVs and TV transmission

  HD Progressive is for computers and end salvation TVs because it requires bandwidth higher than they can cope.

  YouTube is almost always seen only on computers while they are waiting for progressive.

  I've never seen an interlaced FLV that has not had a problem with the movement.

  If your original video is shot in interlaced and then convert it into progressive (if you can) and see what plays OK in WIndows Media Player first without bars. Then download it.

  There is also something about setting up "who the field first", but I don't remember what it was!

  Some computer video (portable slow particuarly) cards can make their purchases this intertwining bar stuff on 1920HD in any case on AVI.

  What you see on the preview of EP is a resolution reduced about one-fifth of the pixels of the final product because it leaves more processing power to display thumbnails and timeline moving. It seems just as strong because only because it is a fifth the size!

  If you have 'Gaussian blur' probablty is because you are trying to reduce bad original HD in a lower pixel when you should have fired the progressive original footage and the lower resolution in the first place.

  Ironically, turned on a camera cheap 780p may look better on Youtube as an expensive one 1900x1080i

• Inaccessible parts of the image size dialog box

  We have PS CS3 10.0.1 on two machines here.  Twice now when the person on the other machine has tried to change the size of the image of a picture, she works on, the image size dialog box came with the read-only pixel dimensions and size and resolution locked together so that she can change the size, but not the number of pixels, i.e., by increasing the resolution reduced size.  If she emails the file for me, when I open the image size dialogue box is normal and I can change the size, leave the same resolution and thus to increase the total number of pixels.

  Any idea what's going on here?

  It couldn't be as simple as accidentally as unchecking the checkbox Check [] resampling could it?

  I designed the app and now I found the screen resolution required is 1024/786. I have a lot of orders and indicators and very worried that the façade will lose his eye and he'll take a lot of time to be set for each control and text.

  I wonder if this is the way I could shrink the size of the front panel so it automatically reduces the size of each control and indicator and it fits well in the required resolution. Any ideas?

• How can I reduce the resolution of my laptop on Windows 8.1 integrated camera?

  I want to reduce the amount of GB I find myself using Skype conversations by reducing the resolution of the camera of my laptop. I looked on the control panel-> Device Manager->-> front camera imaging devices and right-click on it to see if she will allow me to change the settings for resolution, and I see no option to do so.   It wouldn't have a Windows option, it would be the manufacturer of the camera.  If their driver software includes an option, then you can use it. But only your manufacturer or instruction manual would know if your model has all the options like that.
