Restoration after failure of the motherboard

I did a full-system utility Vista on an external drive to backup/restore backup of the computer of my control panel and now need to buy a new laptop with Windows 7. The repairer of MY PC says I can't restore this backup on another OS - can anyone tell me if this is correct as it appears that this facility is not much help

You can not, but if you have created a virtual image HDD backup, you may be able to extract your data files.

See: http://www.recipester.org/Recipe:Open_VHD_Files_without_Windows_Virtual_PC_45167091

I guess your old laptop died, but if your drive is still working you can also try a SATA to USB adapter. This will make it look like your old hard Vista is an external hard drive when you connect it to the new laptop. Hello.

PC my children of motherboard has failed. Fortunately, I was able to access all data at the old and copied disk on my machine. I need to replace the motherboard, processor, and memory. Everything works OK again.

Files in the library of my son were all in his record 'My images' which I have a copy. What is the best way to return without needing to import everything again. I have a copy of 'Lightroom Catalog.lrcat of 4' - I have a copy of the old complete folder.

Thank you so much for your help.

    Best regards

    Deon

If you keep the same structure of folders and files for the images it was, everything will work perfectly.

In fact, it is not so important when you put the catalog or images as long as you keep the structure of folder images even. If you change the absolute path to her allows images LR you remap him path and if the structure is still the same you only must remap the file in the foreground and the computer will find the rest...

  • W510: How do I access my data from a failed hard drive after the failure of the motherboard

I made a mistake and has paid for major .

This error pouring a drink sweet on my laptop. I know, I know, my keyboard can and protect against damage caused by the spill, but it was a drink together. In any case, I panicked and shut down the system and it has upset and removed the keyboard. And be the impatient person that I am, I made what was probably the ultimate error. I do not give everything save a sufficient amount of time to dry and I tried to boot the system. There is my computer. Or at least I think.

Symptoms: It began at the start, kept a beep, sometime just close and will start.

In any case, I guess that my laptop went kaput. Now to the point of this thread. I had not been a recent backup and can't remember when the last backup was actually made. Assuming that my hard drive is ok, I want to get all my data, so I saw several options:

-Send the system to a data recovery service where I will not pay less than $300, but probably 2 to 3 times what

-buy an equivalent model laptop and put the HARD drive in there

-by an external SATA hard drive enclosure and mount it via USB on another computer

I bought a box external and assembled this evening. I had read about the data access of difficulty with a system non-Lenovo because of encryption of the data. I proved that by linking it to my work (a Dell) laptop and I couldn't access my data directories. If I have access to an another Lenovo Thinkpad, I'll be able to access the data if connected via USB? I had read that I can access the contents of disc hard if it is connected to an another Thinkpad, but I knew not that if it means that I have it connected via SATA connection or if there is work through the USB port.

I'll appreciate any suggestions for accessing my data.

    Best regards!

    All,

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I was able to recover my computer and all data on it.

Just to describe what I have done, here are the details.

Because of my concern about a failure of the motherboard, I bought a used/given new keyboard and an external SATA drive enclosure. I was not able to properly take possession of the car from my other laptop, but I was able to access the data in Mode without failure. With my data, I plugged the hard drive and the new keyboard in and started without problem.

  • I have progaram after I replaced the motherboard on ipod classic 7th generation?

I need to reprogram after that I replace the motherboard on ipod genderation 7?

If hard drive iPod is not deleted and the previous content, does not.  However, you can do a restore of the iPod using iTunes, to give him a fresh start.  This erases the iPod, reinstall its software and sets it to the default settings.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod settings - Apple Support

Have you ever done work (to replace logic card), or you're going to do?  If you have not yet done the work, which is the real problem that needs to be replaced the iPod logic board?

  • Mac Book Air, failure of the motherboard

Hi, I bought Mac Book Pro, a year and months back, yesterday, battery is down to 5%, so I continued to support, as I am studying end nyt I closed my MBA. Next day morning day when I tried to show him a folder with question mark symbol flashing. then I tried top in SafeMode it dint'showed hard drive. While I've taken at the authorized Service Center then they said his mother board failure and asked me to pay 42000INR. Is it really motherboard problem? What are the other options of best for me? and this is the price charged for the motherboard, even as they say? can I have any apple legal right againt for replacement?

You can test it by connecting via USB, a boot disk.  If the Mac recognizes, the Mac, boots, then the internal drive or connection that is the problem.  Is it is not recognized, then it may very well be a logic card problem.

    Ciao.

  • Pavillion P7-1423w: failure of the motherboard - how can I retrieve the Windows license key?

I bought a refurbished Pavilion p7-1423w a couple of years and a couple of weeks, it's totally dead.  It wouldn't boot on hard drive, CD, DVD, or USB, and I couldn't get into the BIOS.  It was toast.  Thinking that it was the motherboard, I bought as close to the same motherboard came with the computer as possible, hoping it would always start windows.  I replace the motherboard, and after several attempts, I got it to start on Windows.  But then I realized that Winodws was not enabled, so, apparently, that the Windows key has been changed somehow.

My computer came with Windows 8 is installed, and I see that the keys are in the old motherboard BIOS, which is dead.  I tried to recover the old key from the hard drive in Windows.old, but not luck.

HP can provide new keys for me since the death of the motherboard?  The product is no longer under warranty, so it seems that this will cost me $60 to call them.  Is this correct?

    Thank you

    Tim

    Rzgui, welcome to the forum.

The license for Windows on OEM computers is only for the original configuration.  Microsoft will not make available product keys.  You will need to purchase a full copy of Windows.

  • 405 proDesk G2: how to activate Windows after replacement of the motherboard

I upgraded my G2 405 ProDesk to Windows Pro 10 of the original OEM Windows 7Pro earlier in the year.

Last week, is not the motherboard.  The PC is still under warranty, so HP arranged for a replacement on place of the motherboard.  It worked well, except that windows is activated is no longer.  I called Microsoft with the installation ID in order to get a re-activity windows confirmation ID.  Microsoft said that I need the original license key.  I don't have that because it's an installation OEM from HP with, arguably, the key in the BIOS that has been replaced.

So what I do now?  HP will issue me with a license key given that the PC is still under warranty?

Just to clarify, the license was Windows 8.1 Pro downgraded to Windows 7 Pro, so there was a key Windows 8.1 on the original BIOS but the PC came with Windows 7.

Your post got me thinking, however. I ran the FirmwareTablesView.exe application on the new motherboard and found a license key in the BIOS.  Then, I went to change the product in Settings\Update & security key and enter the key of the new BIOS.  Activation was then successful.

  • "Database corrupt installation" - discovered after failures repeat the installation of automatic updates of Windows

We're running out of WinXP SP3.  Apparently, we are unable to install/uninstall anything correctly.  I think it may have something to do with "a basic installation damaged."  I got this error when trying to manually install KB972581 (a security update for 2007 Microsoft Office System).  This could have been caused by running the Windows Installer cleanup utility, I didn't have problems with Office 2007.  We were informed at all by continuing to upgrade with another program issues.

We daily use Outlook 2007.  Multiple users, so we can't delete it.

Same thing with KB970895 (update of security for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2) - another failure with the description of the error "Unable to install Windows Installer MSP file".

Basically, the automatic updates of Windows always fail.  Comprehensive research of these forums, I found and ran the Microsoft FixIt! # 50202, without result.

How can I fix anything that makes things installation fails?

I had a similar problem - resolved two things actually. First make sure yu have the latest windows installer engine. Then download the package fails and run interactive mode. This will give you the 'real' error which causes the failure so that you can correct it.

In my case it was a dependency on another file system that was resolved by running sfc/scannow - it's maybe not the question you... once again, run the full installation package and also to enablehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/223300 logging to track down issues...

  • Problems with Hal.dll recognizing multicores after installation of the motherboard

I'm new to these forums, so I don't know exactly where this issue will...

So here's the problem: I just replaced my jacked up Intel motherboard with a new ASUS P5G41-M LX2/GB. Before, in my device manager, it looks like "ACPI Multiprocessor" or something along that line, but now, under computer, it just says: "Standard PC". In addition, the "processor" tab does not exist, disappeared somewhere in limbo to replace the motherboard. My taskmanager would simply say that there is a kernel, and not both (and don't ask me to click on the ' show one graph per CPU ", it does not work). When I check my Hal.dll file, instead of saying that Halmacpi.dll was original, I would say it was "hal.dll", the Standard PC. Same thing for the other knrl.exe files. I really don't want to wipe my HD with a system reinstall, because 1. I don't want to lose one of the gigantic piles of stuff, that I worked on the computer and 2. I lost my XP Professional (but has the home edition for some reason any) CD. If you guys need my characteristics:

    ASUS P5G41-M LX2/GB motherboard

    Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8 GHZ

    Windows XP Professional

    NVIDIA GeForce G210 1 GB

    2.0 GB DDR2 RAM

You have loaded all of the drivers that came with the new MB? Windows should be the CPU as being a multi-core, as soon as it recognizes the new chipset drivers.

  • Can not activate after the failure of the motherboard

I bought a Windows version that can be installed on 3 computers. After TWO failures of motherboard, I can't activate Windows now. When I tried to activate via phone the automated message says that I already used the maximum number of computers for the key. It's very frustrating because I had a motherboard last less than a year and a second last only a month or two. Now, my system works great but I can't activate it. It's frustrating.

Try the phone activation when you talk to a real person

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    5) stay on the phone (do not meet all the automatic guests) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your question clearly to the support person.

I can't find the disks to reinstall photoshop so need to know how to get this working.

  • How can I turn off after the failure of the motherboard?

My motherboard does not on my main desktop PC and I'm waiting for a new. I couldn't disable PS (CS5) and I fear that the new motherboard will be seen by Adobe as a new computer. Since I have already loaded on my laptop CS5, I guess I won't be able to use it on the repaired office. I have connected to Adobe 'Customer Care' to ask them about the issue, but I keep going round in circles. When I try 'contact us' under the appropriate heading I get sent to the first screen. Help please.

  • Does not begin with satellite A350 - accident or failure of the motherboard BIOS?

Hello, first of all, sorry for my English :).

I have the Toshiba Satellite A350-13 model has and very big trouble with it: when I turn it on by the power button, power light begins to shine, I can hear the voice of the fan for a second - then it stops and I noticed that HARD drive starts to work - I can hear and see by flashing the lamp next to the lamp stack CD player also works, but nothing else happens. There is nothing on the monitor. It seems that the bios is not starting. Let me explain what I do when it all started. My computer worked correctly, but there was a small mess on my HARD drive, then I got the CD recovery system, I realized after buying computer. Everything was ok, the system is working properly, so I started to install my software. I didn't not uninstall this program installed at the factory for system optimization that is (I do not remember his name now, but I mean this program that shows you update for your drivers - I remember that there are updates for the recognition of faces, videos etc..) I installed all the updates that this program presents, including the update of the BIOS. When I've done with the installation of these updates, I noticed that my keyboard does not work - with any button.

By the time windows has ended it is updated, so I went to "Relight system" in the start menu of windows of the mouse. Then the closed system itself, I saw that windows updates itself as there are always after downloading the updates, but when all this happened at the end and computer must turn off and turn back on, I saw white screen. Computer has not restarted while I was expecting a few minutes. I turned off the computer by holding down the button market / stop and play again. Then, he didn't get up and it's like that for now. What will happen? Is - it caused by the BIOS update I did? Or - is it possible that this motherboard fell down? I think this is connected with the bios, indeed with his absence :) But when I switch on the computer, the keyboard still does not - I can see it, because the green light should appear on the CAPS LOCK button when I hit him if there is a power, even if the bios does not work. Am I wrong? Is there any possible to return BIOS configuration of fabric? I'm quite confused, because I have that for two months - it is like new. I'm excluding the dysfunction of the monitor.

I hope any of you had a problem like this and there is a possible solution for it. My computer is always guaranteed.

    > My computer is always guaranteed.
That of the point! Please contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and leave check your laptop.
There is serious hardware problem, and I don't think you can do something.

  • Sansa crashes WMP after upgrade of the motherboard

    Hello

I recently updated my Windows Vista x 64 - motherboard, processor, video card system - and since then, I had problems with my Sansa.  Now, when I start Windows Media Player 11 (WMP) and then plug in my 8 GB Sansa, WMP closes, with the dialog box "Windows Media Player has stopped working".  No other details are given.  A similar behavior is observed when I plug into the Sansa and start WMP thereafter.  Before the upgrade, the timing was very good.

After the upgrade, I had to re - activate Windows and the parameters of digital rights (DRM) had to be removed for Silverlight if I could play movies from Netflix.  The signatures of many DRM applications are apparently related to the hardware configuration.  I think there is a similar problem, i.e. WMP somewhere has a file that stores the configuration of my old, and when I try to plug in my MP3 player, it reviews the change in material and dies.  The file can even be stored on the Sansa.

Anyway, I don't mind formatting device if necessary, but I prefer to start more simple if possible.  Can anyone please confirm the problem and tell me how to reset the WMP/Sansa for my new Setup?

    Thank you

    Nick

Not so in response to your own message.

I was able to find a solution to the problem in the MS. support knowledge base  I've linked the two items below, the one I used is included first covers more recent versions of Windows.  The second has essentially the same information, but it is older.  Note that "individualization of the DRM system" is an important step.  Initially, I left this step, but it still doesn't work.
