Restoration of the complete Vista PC does not recognize the backup files

I did a full backup PC hard disk external.  Then I upgraded my internal hard drive and installed a new version of Vista.  When I try to make a recovery of the full PC for the new installation, I get the error "there is no backup file on this system.

Any help appreciated.

Hi Mufasa58,

I suggest that you try the advanced restore and check if it works.

(a) open the Center to backup and restore by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then click backup and Restore Center.

(b) click on Advanced Restore Options. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

(c) click files from a backup made on another computer, and then follow the steps.

Restore files from a backup

If the previous step fails, then try to restore the files by using the Windows recovery options using the link below.

  • installed the latest updates of windows 7... now the computer does not recognize my video files avi... says "format not supported".

I have installed the latest updates (02/27/10) and when I open sony vegas to edit some files avi... they were offline... when I tried to read with windows media player it says format not supported... before when I played these files, they would not have to synchronize audio... it never happened with my other computer with Vista... system restore solved the problem of format not supported... but so far has caused this problem? and what about the problems of synchronization? the files seem to sync when played with the hp program...

    Hi derlonewolf,

Because you performed a System Restore you would not be able to determine which update problem from occurring. You will have to wait for the update to your computer to determine the update that caused the problem. The update does not necessarily cause the problem to occur again. However, you can view the history of updates to updating history.

    1. open the control panel (all items view), and click the Windows Update icon.

    2. click on the link to view update history.

    3. to view the details of a single Windows Update-

    (A) select and right-click on a Windows Update list, and then click details.

    (B) click on close when finished.

As far as the question of timing is concerened, you can scan SFC on your computer and check if the problem persists.

Steps to perform a scan SFC:

    1. Click Start, click principally made programs, accessories, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow

    2. type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
[The command sfc /scannow. analysis of all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.]

A message appears indicating that "the system scan will start. Be patient, because the analysis may take some time

    3. If all the files require that a SFC replace will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Win7 DVD for this process to continue

    4. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.

    5. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

Check the link below for further guidance on scan SFC - mentioned

You can also make manual updates instead of automatic updates and then see what are updates will be installed on the computer.

    See : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Turn-automatic-updating-on-or-off

  • Clean install of Vista business does not recognize network rtl8101e map

I have a Toshiba laptop that came with Vista Home Basic installed, the hard drive died so I bought a new one and found an unopened copy of Vista Professional SP1 and installed a clean place. Everything seems fine, except that it says that the necessary for a newer driver network card, I downloaded and copied from a memory stick and installed. It is said with the new driver initializes the driver, but the device does not work.

    Hi FatBrian81,

I suggest to access the Web site Toshiba laptop and am trying to download the drivers for the network card for Windows Vista and try to install it and check if he moved very well.

Access the link below and select the model number of the laptop you are trying to download the drivers for the network card.

  • Windows live photo gallery does not recognize fujifilm camera files

I used to be able to download pictures from my camera without problem.  Windows live photo gallery no longer recognizes that the file type and used to download my pictures more.

    Any ideas?

    Garet

    What format are the photos?

What is the complete error message you see?

If you work with RAW files so that they will not be supported without additional codecs. Unfortunately, the optional Microsoft Camera Codec Pack does not support the Fujifilm RAW files at this time. Another option would be to use this converter on the site of Fujifilm software:

  • Why lightroom does not recognize my DSLR files

I get the message "the following files were imported not because they could not be read" then invites me to "save under".

and all the nave as jpg files is rejected Lightroom import! It's very frustrating as adobe support, after a few days of trying, finally able to get lightroom 6 is installed correctly

the map is not corrupted, I'm easily able to import in lightroom on my imac 4

Make sure that you have full read/write permission in the destination folder. That is to say the file to import. The message saying that cannot be read in fact means cannot be written! Good luck

  • 5.2 Installation Lightroom does not recognize. MSI file

I tried several times to install the Lightroom update 5.2, but every time it starts installing it gives me an error and tells me to locate the file with the .msi file for the installation. Now, the self-extracting installer shows that he extracted the file msi, but when I look for and click on Installer tells me that this is not the appropriate Setup file. Has anyone who encountered this as well and, if so, what solutions have you found to work around?

I finally managed to uninstall the old version of LR and to install the new version 5.2, respectively, as follows:

-J' downloaded fixit from Microsoft support page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971187

(the link shows the German translation, but I guess that Microsoft fixit software will work in different languages, or there must be the equivalent page in English too, I guess)

-J' ran the fixit program. Verification of Installation did not help. Checking uninstall, I chose 5 Lightroom (previous version) has helped, the program was now finally uninstalled.

    -J' restarted the PC

-J' started the downloaded file in Lightroom to version 5.2. This time, the installation worked correctly.

Hope that helps also to others.

  • Tried everything - Vista still does not recognize printer Epson!

I have Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I spent HOURS trying to get my printer Epson CX7800 installed. I get the error unknown device and after trying to install the printer software, the message that the device is not working properly. The CX7800 is compatible with Vista. I have checked/tried this following:

    1. Installed updates for Vista.
    2. Tried to install the drivers updated from the Epson site. Installation cannot recognize that the printer is plugged in and turned on and closed unexpectedly.
    3. Troubleshooted on the Epson site. Followed their advice to uninstall/reinstall to the letter.
    4. Verified the printer on other computers running XP - works fine.
    5. I tried changing USB ports - all ports are good.
    6. FixIt ran from the Microsoft site - no problems found.
    7. Tried the Add Assistant printer - who cannot find drivers - even if I click on disc then point it on where are the downloaded drivers.
    8. Troubleshooted on the Dell site - have a desktop Dimension E521 - no luck.
    9. He spent hours searching for technical advice and do not yet have a solution that works.

Any help for that to be resolved would be LARGELY APPRECIATED. It's a question of Vista - not a problem with the printer or the computer. Argh!

I can't believe how easy the solution was... amazing that this simple solution has been so difficult to dig for!

All I had to do was go to the Device Manager and disable the PCI Standard improved to the USB host controller.

That's all! Turned on my printer and installed the software and I printed a page within 3 minutes!

How frustrating that it took me more than 30 hours to get this simple solution. But I hope that it can save someone else from countless hours and frustration.

  • BlackBerry software after security wipe, BlackBerry link does not identify my backup file as valid for the device

I had trouble with my Z10, then I backed up with BlackBerry link (which seemed to work creating a file close to 1 gigabyte) then I did a cleanup of security: when I rebooted, I went through the installer until the end, then the element 'Restore' has been enabled from the context menu of the device.

When I click on 'Restore' after few seconds the bed message "no backup is available for this device.

Is there a function "no, really, RESTORE THIS FILE ' emergency can I call it? I don't want to have to redownload all my apps and reconfigure the whole device.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply... I did some additional checking and I confess that sometimes Windows file permissions are strange and mysterious to me... for some reason, Windows Home Server share where I write my backups to was ' write only ' BlackBerry-link point-of-view... when I searched and had difficulties, just pick it up and copy the file, I added my user login to the official list of the users 'Total control' on this file. , and then BlackBerry link found the file very well... now is restoration.

Sorry for the false alarm, but maybe this will help someone else in the future :-)
