Restore file sequence # annexed by Win 7 for duplicate file names

How can I reset the sequence number that Win 7 automatically adds to duplicate file names. I have a file that is sent to me every day with the same folder. Windows adds a sequence # at the end of the name inside ().  This number continues to increase. How can I reset this number in Win 7?

It will use the first available number in the folder.  If he uses (4), it is because 1, 2, and 3 were already taken.  Delete 'old', or save it in a new folder, and it will start again.

  • Renaming of documents by adding an annex of the commune for the names of existing files on several files in a single folder

Is it possible to add an annex to the town (for example "-file BL ') existing file name (for example"daily reports1) to several (selected) files in the same folder?  (The example given could therefore be renamed "daily reports - comes from the BL file").  I need to do this to identify the source of documents folder when they are copied into a common folder: to compare with the similar files in other folders for various purposes.  There are a lot of documents in many files, I need to transfer and compare.  A rough estimate, it is that I need to add an annex to the town of 200 files named differently in a single folder and repeat this process for 30 files: with my existing knowledge of XP, this means that I would have use the rename individually on 6000 documents, and if the additional annex has been say 5 characters which would be a minimum of 30 000 key strokes : If adding appendages common to several document names selected in a folder is possible, this might reduce the name change to close to 150 list.

PLEASE NOTE the multiple rename function where each selected file is the same thing with a renamed after the index number in brackets should not be - the original file name should be kept.

  • Unable to restore files in Vista Home Premium

Don't know which forum it might be suitable for.  Cannot restore files backed up with the backup and restore on a new install of Vista.

Unfortunately, I did a system restore which did a factory reset (FAT fingers-involuntary). Was trying to solve a problem of driver.  The reset fixes this issue.

I did a backup of files using backup and restore to 3 days before, so I have a backup available.  The files are on a hdd external usb. I tried to restore using advanced restore "from another computer.   I made a first return to the top on the reinstalled Vista and now I have 2 backups on the hard drive. When I try to restore old save I get 'incorrect parameter (0 x 80070057)' ' the location is correct and try again.   Its on the same drive as the new backup. The new back-up works fine as I tried restoring file as a test.

I went to the folder properties to ensure that the system and the users have full control for the hard drive and all files. When I open them back up, files have full control, but the single play button is shaded. Don't know if this is linked from the new folder is similar.

I took the hard drive to another laptop under Vista (SP1) and have the same problem when you try to restore "from another computer.

I have looked through the forums and see nothing similar, although I've seen some that are close on the web - with no solutions.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you
    Nathan

  • Restoring files of Simplesave

I'm trying to restore files after a system on my Windows 7, HP Simplesave system recovery (I think 500).   It is said in the online manual, double-click the hp simplesave icon in the system tray.   The Simplesave unit is connected with the screening of blue light but I do not see the icon in the systray.

    Hello ghoppa6,

The SimpleSave reader should be strong when you connect the USB cable to the computer. If this isn't the case, then AutoPlay can be disabled in Win - 7 and perhaps you want to re-inable it. http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Change-AutoPlay-settings#1TC=Windows-7

Meanwhile, I open the external drive and find the SimpleSave folder and inside should be a folder called HPSimpleSave. Double-click it to start the program, then you can set up the restore of your files.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Restore files after restoring the image using Windows backup

Running W7 pro 64-bit. Had the problems of virus/malware, finally restored my discs from image system, dated 2 weeks ago and then restore backup files dated Windows from yesterday.

When I go to save / restore my files, the update does not list a backup happened 2/14, the date of the restored image. When I go to manage Windows backup disk space, and then select backup period to remove the last date is 3/1, when I did the last backup. The date & time system is running with a date of 3/2.

  • Points/restore a restore file

When a file, play, etc., is restored from a restore point which dates back much earlier, my entire system back to that date (and I lose what I have), or do I simply find the file?   (Windows 7)

    Thank you

Previous Versions are created when a new Restore Point or backup operation is finished.

When you right click on a folder there is an option to restore the previous Version that applies to this folder:

Then you can see the previous versions offered by date:

I have not changed anything in this folder since October 13.

The first version of previous (06/11/2015) was created automatically when this system to make a new Point of restoration at 01:09 today:

If I open this folder and delete a file, then restore the previous version of this morning, I just deleted the restore file - and nothing else.

Look at the dates of previous Versions available as well as the dates of the Restore Points and you can see that the other previous versions are the same as the system restore points that may be created on your system.  When your system to a Restore Point for any reason (or backup), which will create a previous Version.

VPN is different that a regular system restore as VPN contains previous versions of backups and Restore Points and applies to a single folder where a system restore applies to your entire system.

If you restore a previous version of a folder, it will apply only to this folder and not the whole system.

This is a good "trick", I learned Frederik Long working on a record level and will indeed allow you to restore older versions of Windows files not in personal folders, etc. that are not included in the system restore.

See if that answers your question:

  • questions about the decommissioning of win 8 for Win 7

I plan to install Win 7 Pro on my Win 8.1 on my desktop computer. My computer came preloaded with Win 8 and then I upgraded to win 8.1 by using Windows Update in Control Panel. So I have the computer manufacturers 64 bit Win 8 Support disc that came with the computer, but no Win 8.1 disk. I also have my old drive for Win 7 64-bit. My main concerns regard the problems potential decommissioning and also possible future problems if I decide to come back to Win 8 (regardless of the version then in force).

    I have two questions:

    (a) there will be problems if I decide in the future to upgrade Windows 7 Pro to whatever the current version to win 8 given that I only have my Win 8 of the manufacturer of the computer drive?

    (b) in addition to needing all the drivers for Win 7, are there other problems by going win 8 for Win 7?

If you want to downgrade to Windows 7.

You will first need to go to the website of manufacturers for your model computer and first find out if there are native drivers in Windows 7. A large number of computers that are preloaded with Windows 8 have no native driver support for Windows 7 by the manufacturer.

If there are native drivers for Windows 7, there should be a problem.

Prior to decommissioning, I highly recommend facility backup the Windows 8.1 currently on the disk, so if you decide to go back to Windows 8, you can simply save your data in Windows 7 and restore the image of Windows 8.1. Learn how to:
